LAN Noodle is a no-frills, you know what you're getting into, homey restaurant. Prices also felt more than reasonable for what you get. I was initially skeptical, but we were quickly seated by a very accommodating server and host who constantly checked on us and took care of us from start to finish, quite well. I got the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup with Wide Flat Noodles and it was quite good! Better than expected too. I know, I know, the reluctance is showing, ha. The flavor of the soup wasn't groundbreaking, but it was quite pleasant, light, and I couldn't help but keep sipping, one mouthful after the other. Candidly, I can see myself craving this during a rainy day or when I get sick. The noodles were also chewy, wide, and just hit the spot. Disclaimer: I'm a huge fan of wide flat noodles, and they did a really good job here! Our table also ordered XLB and pan-fried dumplings to share. Both were above average and hit the spot. Overall, if I'm in the area again, I would totally come back again.

A great beef noodle place that has authentic hand pulled noodles that come in different shapes and sizes. The broth is perfectly seasoned and not super salty. Very satisfying in a clean interior and friendly staff. You can see the noodles being pulled and is fun to watch. The Chinese burgers are not the forte though, quite dry and not as appetizing as the noodles.

Wowzaaaaa!! This place is extremely good and serves a variety of beef noodle soups. The broth was flavorful and the noodles were being made to order. I’d recommend the braised beef for people that prefer a non-spicy option, and the spicy beef (regular spice level) for people that want the spice! You can choose your own noodle type. I thought the “triangle” noodles were unique and would recommend. Portion size was great too.

Handmade noodles. Flavorful beef broth. My favorite is the mustard green beef noodle soup with thin flat noodle. Even though called “thin”, the noodle has some thickness and wonderful chewy texture.

Lan Noodle is located in Arcatia and serves wonderful beef broth noodles to the public. They specialize in beef broth noodles and serve it in a variety of style of noodles. I prefer the flat, wide variety. The broth is rich and tantalizing. You can choose how hot you wish to have it, which changes the taste you'll get. Get some vegetable appetizers to help quell your hunger before the noodles show up. Great for a quick lunch or on a chilly day. Superb quality and friendly service.

Slurping good! Non Chinese reviewer here, American and Mexican taste buds. Top (spicy beef) bottom (braised beef), side of rice and bok choy, medium spicy. Spicy cucumber app. Around $50 before tip. Rich flavor, tender meat, homemade noodles and affordable prices. Fresh cilantro and green onion toppings. What more can you ask for? It was so delicious it had us slurping and staining our shirts 😏

I enjoy coming here for their noodles and side dishes. I particularly like the Lanzhou Street Noodle, along with the Beef Tendon side dish. The Lanzhou Street Noodle contains sesame paste & peanut butter in beef broth with spinach and flavored peas (no meat). Oh, and I usually opt for the Wide Flat noodle (good chew and texture). Keep in mind the broth tends to be on the saltier side (I don’t usually consume all of it).

Cool spot for authentic noodles. Read the positive reviews on Eater LA and LA Times so had to give it a try. Very happy I did, full belly and felt welcomed. I appreciate the flavors of the Lan Noodles and their sautéed vegetable appetizer. Best part was choosing noodle size (back of menu). They’ll give you descriptions with images of what the noodle is like. I loved that added touch. The noodles were definitely homemade with perfect imperfections that soak up the flavor of the beef broth. I got the thin long noodles but try it for yourself! Finished with hot tea. Perfect for a cold rainy day in April!

Delicious food! I got the kelp salad and pickled mustard green beef noodle soup, and my husband got the spicy beef noodle. Everything was very tasty. I loved the broth and overall flavor of my noodle, and I loved the wide thick noodles for their texture. I tasted my husband’s broth and I think I actually preferred mine. We both got medium spicy and I think it was perfect. Great service too!

Just like most of the Yelpers who left their positive reviews here, I also highly recommend this restaurant. Although the flavor of the beef noodle soup was not exactly like the ones in Lan Zhou in Western China, I would say this is very very close to it. Back in Lan Zhou, beef noodle soup is considered a stable for the masses. They eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are very popular street food. Some of the street vendors leave their beef soup simmer all year long. Some of the soups have been boiling for years. It’s rear nowadays to find restaurants still hand pulled their noodles. With hand pulling the noodles, the cooked noodles become very chewy and tasty. That’s why they are so popular. Since I was here for lunch alone, I ordered the lunch combo which included the popular beef noodle, a soft drink, and a braised egg. I too loved the food here. With a bit of spicy kick, the whole bowl of noodle became very delicious. Parking is a bit of a problem as Lan Noodle is collocated with many popular restaurants in the same mall.

So good! We had the spicy beef soup with wide noodles, the chow mein with triangle noodles, and the pork burger. All were very good! The beef noodle soup was great and the chewiness of the noodles was fantastic. Will have to return and try many more things. The chili oil was on point. The man who took our order was very friendly.

Nice neighborhood noodle shop. Mainland Chinese style soup base with freshly made noodles of choice. Service is very quick and server is nice and explains things clearly.

Omg when I tell you this SOUP IS DELICIOUS. Like everything about this place is amazing. Super clean, amazing people, and amazing food this is the best spot for soup and I love it so much. The staff there are so nice, they talk with you and interact with you sometimes and it’s just soo friendly there.

Really hits the spot. Good balance of spice, oil, and veggies. Some other places just drench things in oil and is not as balanced. Great wide noodle texture. I always order thr braised beef noodle soup, mild spice, wide noodle. + smashed cucumber. The braised beef here was cut very balanced with great fat-to-meat ratio with every bite. And there’s good amount of meat given. At another place that offers a similar dish, it was more blocks of dry meat or big pieces of fat i didn’t enjoy. Service is fast and attentive.

Should you check this place out? Yes! Let me say upfront if you want authentic handmade noodles, Lan Noodle is the place to go. I walked in and immediately saw the cook pulling noodles like he's training for an arm-wrestling tournament. Thirty years of noodle mastery in one pair of forearms. You can smell the dough, hear the slap of noodles hitting the counter, it's got this alive feeling, like the kitchen is mid-performance and you just walked in on the good part. Braised Beef Noodle Soup The broth is clear, light, and clean, simmered for hours with beef bones and aromatics. It's not aggressively salty, not heavy, not greasy. Think soothing rather than punch-you-in-the-face. This is the kind of broth where you take a sip first before touching the noodles. The beef is slow-braised until it's fork-tender, but it still holds shape. Not shredded, not dry, just soft enough to pull apart with chopsticks. Very classic, very traditional. Then you've got cilantro, green onions, daikon, all there to keep things fresh and balanced. Nothing feels random. Every element has a job. Lan Noodle's noodles are hand-pulled Lanzhou-style wheat noodles from Northwestern China, and the big thing is texture. These aren't soft, floppy noodles that disappear the second they hit hot broth. They're springy, elastic, and chewy in a deliberate way. They also offer multiple shapes. Thin, medium, thick, and wide. Each one changes the experience. Thicker noodles soak up more broth and oil, thinner ones feel lighter and faster. Same dough, different personalities. Also in many restaurants that use lesser quality noodles, that stick together, LAN noodle's noodles don't. They really feel fresh and high-quality. The server is super nice and efficient. You're in and out in a jiffy! Date Spot? Not for a first date. The server leaves you alone unless you flag him down to get something. But you're in and out too fast to really talk and get to know your date. So, this one's for family, friend or significant other. Group Spot? The spot is a little small, though they have some seating outside. I'd say 10 max at this place, so they have room to serve others. Final Verdict Lan Noodle is one of those places that doesn't need hype. The food does the talking. If you love hand-pulled noodles, just go. You'll get it.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is quite delicious. They also maintained another location in West Hollywood, which I've went to before. The handmade noodles are well made, and they offer a good variety of other things ranging from seaweed to watermelon juice. Will be back when I need that handmade noodle fix!

An easy spot for a quick meal. They served the beef noodle soup so quickly. This is a solid noodle joint in Arcadia. They are in the same plaza behind Capital Seafood. There is plenty of parking. The menu is pretty simple. The tough part is deciding which type of noodle to get! They range from thin to wide to round to hand-cut. My eating partners thought the beef noodle soup was pretty solid. They do give a lot of green onion and cilantro. After tax and tip, the beef noodle soup was like $20. I got the sesame liang pi, which was slightly spicy. The serving size is a good portion. I think it's very filling per person. I'd come back to try their appetizer dishes, like the sliced beef and pig ears.

Yummy lanzhou noodle soup. 🍜 It is not spicy even for the highest level. Soup based seems the same for all. You can choose different type of noodles. The least I like is the big plate. It is too sweet for me. For others the meat not that much.

Freshly made noodles daily! In fact you can see the chef constantly making fresh noodles behind the glass. The noodles are so fresh and chewy. Beef are tender. There are two type of beef you can order from -- the brasied beef or the clear broth with sliced beef. I would suggest you get the braised beef. I also tried a dry noodles this time. Actually it's not as "dry" as you though. There's a little sauce in the bottom of my plate which I think it's very nice. That was the Tomato Egg Noodles. Service is nice. The place with a cute atmosphere where the play Chinese songs in the background. Not too bad. Will come back again.

The food itself isn't bad. Had flavor, but my friend noted compared to the last time he was there, there was less cumin and other spices in the broth compared to the last time he was there. The owner who took our order was ok. But I was annoyed when the staffer told us to move to a smaller table because it was only 2 of us. While understandable, I really didn't like being crowded by others. Lo and behold, sat next to some shallow people listening to their comments. Once they left, another group sat in their spot, and basically had the same debate about what broth to get, and what size noodles. I got the "Angel Hair" thin noodles, while my friend got the super-thick ones. I only get those when there's tons of oils that needs to be soaked up.

Handmade noodle with clear beef broth. Overall it’s not bad but quite a bit worse than 1919 noodle which is only a few miles away.

Saw lots of positive reviews for this place and my wife and I are huge fans of handmade noodles; we were looking forward to try this place. It was a good sign that when we arrive at 1:10pm, there was a line outside the restaurant. There were a few tables inside the restaurant and two on the sidewalk. It was refreshing to see chef making fresh noodles in the open kitchen. We ordered combo 3, which includes spicy beef noodle, tea egg, side appetizer, & soft drink, and a stir fry beef noodle (both were recommended by the owner). It took a little over 40 minutes to prep our togo order and we were excited to try them out. Unfortunately, everything was downhill from here. Spicy beef noodle soup was nothing more than the typical spicy flavor without any depth. There were about 5-6 thin sliced beef and the tea egg had no flavor at all. Well, what about the noodle? It was overcooked and left with almost no texture. As for the stir fry beef noodle, it was borderline disgusting. It was full of oil with overcooked noodle and beef slices. We ended up discarding half of our meal 😵

I was really disappointed with my experience at Lanzhou beef noodle. I wish I had read the 1-star reviews before coming here. The place itself looked dirty, which was already concerning. I ordered my food to go, but when I opened it, there was a really foul smell. The noodles and soup both had a strange odor. I only managed to eat a few spoonfuls because the taste was just not good at all. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience, and unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
