I can’t say this enough… WOW!! This food is incredible. Everything is house made, and you can tell! The pasta is made here, steak is fresh cut with the best rub I’ve tasted. The only thing I regret is we won’t be back anytime soon, as we were staying one night here while passing through. Highly recommend!! Please open one in Oregon!!
A hidden gem of delicious and fine dining food in Arcata. It can be pricey depending on what you order but it is well worth the price for the outstanding taste which is influenced by the campfire theme. Everything has hints of smoke and fire, from the decor, special cocktails, and the food itself. For $96, 3 of us shared 5 side dishes, 2 cocktails and a beer.
Such a great place to go for Brunch! I got the french toast and the sauce they used was phenomenal and the berries were nice and fresh! I also paired it with a mimosa and the amazing coffee! Highly recommend this place for brunch.
Delicious steak made exactly as requested! The egg nog was so good as well as the squash. Definitely coming back! Staff was attentive and friendly
Food was excellent. Deviled eggs were sublime and steak and carrots were heaven. Not a fan of the campfire drink (tasted like vomit), but the old fashioned bourbon cocktails were great.
We went for our ten year anniversary tonight. The food was super delicious and Zach our server was helpful, nice and friendly. Atmosphere is pretty and nice but chill. We will definitely go back for unami butter oysters and the chimichurri butter oysters. Also the candied bacon, and filet mignon. Decent wine selection as well, splendid!
Amazing experience all around. I’ll start with the place environment. The restaurant has a cozy, more intimate atmosphere. Very nice for a date night and for luxurious meals experience. Clean and well designed floor plan. We did not set at the bar, but it was very full and it looked like a very nice area to unwind after a long week/day. The kitchen area what I was absolutely in love with the most. It’s very open and the lighting is distributed very well. The aroma of the food was just divine. Staff: the welcoming guests staff, she was super friendly and polite. Had our reservation ready in les than 10secs. We were escorted to our booth; she had gone over our reservation notes and was very knowledgeable about food restrictions we had added to our reservation. (Not a lot of places actually train their staff to understand all different food requirements, so I was really impressed) Our waitress was absolutely amazing and she had taken care of us very well. Our drinks, food, and side dishes arrived very quickly. She had attended us at all right times to check on us and was super wonderful. Thank you Madison, Food experience: expect this to be a high-end quality and an expensive outing. If you are trying to impress your partner, family or just for yourself pleasure this is the place to go for a great time. The food was delicious. We only had vegetarian/non-meat dishes and nonalcoholic drinks. Everything, and I mean everything was just perfect. If I could eat the meat they had I would try it, but I have food restrictions and I truly can’t imagine how the meat dishes would taste, if the vegetarian options were absolutely scrumptious. We are going back for another try for their brunch menu, and I’ll update this post with more pictures and information. - Dishes we ordered: House-made Pita Bread & Ricotta French onion soup Stuffed Delicata Squash Oyster Mushrooms Pried Brussel Sprouts - Drinks: The forager (mock-tail) Ice tea
Amazing food and great atmosphere. I do recommend going earlier in service as they can 86 menu items later in the evening. But everything on the menu is outstanding so even if they are out of your first choice you will love your second choice.
Landed here after 9PM looking for top-notch food & drink and got both at the bar. Beef tartare + toast was scrumptious and the Fox Den cocktail invented by Nate (mixed when I asked for something new, something that would match the food) perfectly complemented the plate. Yes, it’s spendy. Worth it.
My husband and I went to Campground for my birthday dinner. The service was great. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. The atmosphere was laid back, which I prefer. The kitchen was open, so you can see the chefs work. I had the rack of lamb, and my husband had the NY strip. Both dishes were outstanding. My lamb had a Parmesan crust that I will be thinking about for years. We both got mashed potatoes as a side, and they were just as good as the main dishes. For dessert we got the s’mores cake to share and on my goodness. I loved it and couldn’t have asked for a better b-day dessert. 10/10 recommend!
Google maps tried to send us down the alley. Front door is on 9th street next to alley. I had rack of lamb and my wife had a rib eye steak. Both were excellent. My lamb was among the best I've ever had.
We stumbled upon this after wandering around on the 4th of July looking for brunch that did not have a long wait. We were about to give up and was going to the grocery to make our own when I saw this across the street and got curious. So glad that we did! There is a bar area and lots of booth seating. We ordered lattes, vegetable hash w egg on top and avocado toast with prosciutto and a poached egg. Next time, I'll order a side of bacon or sausage to go with the hash. Definitely going to check it out for dinner too. The bar looks promising.
Very delicious steaks and amazing brussels sprout (one of the best I have ever had). This would be a very good steakhouse in any city, and may be one of the best restaurants in the area.

Always great! Good food, good drinks and good vibe. Very upscale yet casual. Brunch menu is equally amazing.

This might be the best small town dining experience I have ever had. The bartenders sling creative, flavorful cocktails. The kitchen consistently delivers great dishes with daily variation. Amazing.
I like coming to Campground for special occasions. Stopped by tonight and had a lovely evening, especially thanks to Morgan!!! Morgan was so sweet and cheerful; 10/10 vibes and service :)
Best steak I've had in a while. Excellent fries. Good beer selection of local brews. Other main dishes were excellent too. Pleasant wait staff. Quiet older tables and booths.

My husband and I came here for dinner while visiting Northern California for vacation. We loved everything about Campground! The food was delicious, we both ordered a steak and it was cooked just to our liking. The service was GREAT! Everyone was very attentive. Our waitress was busy and one of the bartenders came over to see if we wanted to order a drink. If you’re in Arcata I highly recommend Campground, especially for a couple looking for a romantic evening. It was more expensive, but worth it!
The food was delicious! We were so pleased with all of our meals. My husband and I had the pistachio crusted halibut, my youngest has a steak, and my other daughter had a huge hamburger- it was all cooked to our preferences and was delicious! I rated the service a 3, because the waitress almost seemed annoyed that she had to wait on us. It took about 10 minutes, after we sat down, for her to notice us…. Walked over to the sink and poured us 4 glasses of very warm tap water. The food was worth the price, however paying the amount we did I would have appreciated better service.

Our experience was alright. The deviled eggs were good, nicely presented. The cheese board was also delicious. The timing on dinner was a fail. My husband and I got our entree and my son had to wait about 10-15 minutes. We were pretty much done eating by the time he got his food. A bit pricey too.

The duck was very overcooked and beyond that tasted off and old. Skin was not crispy. Steak was cooked perfectly but not seasoned well, and presentation was a joke for the price. Gratin was bland. Most everything was under seasoned but then there were bites of the halibut that were almost too salty. Service was lackluster for such exorbitant prices. Server was not knowledgeable about the drink menu. The vegetables with the halibut were either burnt because they were mad or a complete hack job. Not sure what's worse. Horrible rip off.

The burger looks good, but was trash. The meat had a weird mealy texture and I didn't even finish half of it. They also didn't ask about the food when I clearly didn't want to eat it or take it with me.
Overly pretentious restaurant that needs to focus more on the taste and less on the presentation. Oysters smelled off and the cocktails were horrible. I advise everyone to stay away from the 'campfire' drink as its a smokey and sour nightmare. Nearly $100 for French onion soup oysters and two drinks... Update: My girlfriend and I got food poisoning from the oysters! That was very rough evening for us both. We will never come back to this place and yes the county health department has been contacted.
