Awesome bar area to have drinks and eat dinner at. Their pizza (specifically the jalapeno, pepperoni, and sausage) is the best I've ever had. I live a good 60 miles away and will drive it for this place.
Always a great experience! Dining room is lit softly, and provides a great mood for any meal! Food is AWESOME! Salads and amazing and we love the pizza... Can't visit the valley without a stop at Barone's :)
Great old school atmosphere, very good service. Call ahead and order, place gets packed and busy. Excellent food. Valet for dine in, for take out they let you park temporarily.
My family has been coming to Barones for the last 35+ years. It is a family favorite and for good reason! Their pizza is the best in the area, their antipasto salads are amazing, and the service has always been excellent and accommodating. If you have not been, you're really missing out on this gem. I've used them for take out for company parties, came with friends, and have frozen left over pizza which holds up beautifully. Barones is must visit for anyone in the area. :)
Great place. Pat the bartender was just great. I ordered a pizza to go but I decide to sit there and have a few slices, before I went on the road and he was very helpful and very kind to me. Set me all up even let me bring my own green chili in from the car to put it on my pizza. Plus his bloody Mary was absolutely delicious.
Delicious pizza and an outstanding atmosphere.
Amazing service, great prices! Delicious food!!!!
I've loved this place all my 40yrs of life. I make everyone I know try their pizza. The ambiance and flavors are truly one of a kind. I pray this place stays open forever.
Food is fresh and tastes amazing. Atmosphere is beautiful and vintage. Staff is friendly and prompt. Parking is valet, that's the only damper.
Barone's is the same as the first time I went there as a kid. It's always amazing and never disappoints. We always order a pizza to go for later. 10/10, could not recommend more.
Incredible Decor! Please don't ever change the inside.. the memories of locations that look like this are dying. We've always love your pizza! It's are go to place for business lunch meetings. Everytime we bring a client, as soon as they walk in they say WOW! Incredible food Professional amazing staff A++++
Excellent first time dining at Barone’s! We ordered Italian salad which was fresh and crispy! The dressing was FANTASTIC! My mushroom pizza was much larger than I expected so I had to take some of it home. When our server asked me if I would like a box I said yes and before I knew it, another employee came and took the pizza from me and actually boxed it for me instead of just putting a box on our table! Now that’s old-school good customer service! Can’t wait to go back there again!
Great, as always! Family favorite for generations (both old and new locations) and we had our wedding reception lunch there!
The pizza is square and thin! Surprisingly the best pizza I've ever had. I'm going back there for lunch next week. Addicted! 🍕
The food is delicious! With an authentic Italian restaurant feel and energy, it was a wonderful experience. We went for dinner and the dinner prices are a bit on the mid-size price, but the portions are worth the price. I highly recommend the garlic bread-it is divine and I would probably have had that alone for dinner but then my yummy Fettuccine Alfredo arrived. Very nice and friendly employees.
I love the old school atmosphere with the red vinyl booths. Such amazing food too! I like getting the spaghetti with linguine noodles. Pizza is great too!
Amazing food, wonderful service, and very warm and cozy atmosphere. Can't go wrong with their pizza but their entire menu is delectable. They make everything from scratch...oh, and try the tart for dessert. Thank me later😉
old school atmosphere and bar is great. pricey though. paid $120 for pizza, and salad..drinks too. they charge $6 to park in an empty lot (I actually parked my own car..and paid $6..super annoying) nice service...however the oddest pizza ever..not sure who's cooking back there..I could do better. was never expecting weird pizza. they cover your toppings with cheese
Delicious food!!Their pizza is old school rectangular shape, thin crust but, not too thin with very generous toppings!! My new favorite restaurant. !!
Ok this review is solely for a very specific pizza i have been hyper fixated on for the last 3 months. Please do yourself a favor and order a lg with pepperoni, mushroom and black olives. I promise you wont be disappointed
Been coming here for over 10 years and every once in awhile I just crave one of their pizzas! The people are awesome, and it is always a lovely experience. One of the best restaurants in the valley for a good pizza and a glass of wine.
First time there and serious old school vibe .. ..
Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Pricing matches the high quality of food. Our waiter Rosendo was friendly, attentive, and added to our great experience. We'll definitely return the next time we are in the mood for authentic Italian. For movie lovers an extra bonus: The date scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High was filmed here. The resturant interior hasn't changed much since then which makes it a perfect stop to get some photos.
Ive eaten pizza all over the state and honestly, this is hands down the best pizza in California. I know that's a bold statement, but I stand by it. From the crispy crust to the flavourful sauce to mouth watering cheese all topped off with their incredible thick cut sliced pepperoni. I cannot recommend this pizza enough to other pizza connoisseurs, yes it's a little pricey for the large at $24, but it's worth every penny for every bite. Plus they have take out which is very convenient. 12 minutes from the moment you call to place the order is the time to pick up your pizza. I've done it many times and will do it for many more.
I just love their pizza! Have been eating there for years.
I really love this restaurant! The aesthetic is old fashioned and elegant to me. The food was fantastic as well! A pretty long wait, but the food was fresh and worth the wait. Our waiter was very nice, as well as the other employees there. This is definitely a nice restaurant for any special occasion.
Oh, how we love Barone’s! Old school Italian served by nice people. The pizza doesn’t even need toppings. The large is perfect just with cheese. Easy to park in their valet lot, too.
I hadn’t been here in over 40 years. It’s still superior….tasty….extremely satisfying.
Barone’s Pizza in Los Angeles is an absolute gem — hands down the best pizza in the city! Their iconic rectangular, Sicilian-style pizza is a masterpiece of flavor and texture. The crust is perfectly crispy on the outside yet light and airy on the inside, providing the ideal foundation for their rich, tangy tomato sauce and generous layers of gooey, melted cheese. Every bite bursts with authenticity and warmth, like a comforting hug from an old friend. If you’re a pizza lover in LA, Barone’s isn’t just a must-try — it’s a must-return. This place has truly earned its legendary status!
Every time I visit north Hollywood I stop in for lunch. Order minimum 2-3 of the house combo pizza half baked and bring them to Las Vegas
I have been eating at Barone’s for over 30 years. They have amazing food that has not changed over all these years
We there for the first time. Service is excellent. The food was good. Portions are a little small for the prices they charge. Love that they have low carb options. Great for large gatherings. Valet parking eight dollars and just one handicap parking spot.
Loud office get together spoiled that trip. Food is excellent, as usual.
Awesome old-school red sauce Italian joint. The exact ambience you would expect with very attentive service. The cheese lasagna is amazing! Now, I’m no lasagna connoisseur (such as Garfield), but this is the best I’ve ever had!
I miss this place I was a frequent customer when I lived in La coming from an Italian family they had good Italian food. And spumoni everything was delicious and the help display the high caliber true professionalism. I miss it. Sorry for the late review.
My family and I have always loved coming here, we are from San Diego and make special trips for the food. Our server Marco was a delight and so attentive, always kept our beverages full! Would recommend coming here for some great food that will really satisfy your appetite.
Update in January 2020: Well, at least the booths and chairs got the new upholstery. This place is excellent for food and dessert. Our server Amanda was super duper amazing. She got everything perfectly and served us with a great attitude! We had chicken marsala, which was done with a lot of mushrooms on top. Linguini pescatore had a plenty of shrimps and lobsters. Of course, the square pizza was the best, crunchy crust with yummy BBQ chicken. Cesar's salad with chicken for two was plenty for three of us. Tiramisu was better than the cheesecake for us. Thanks Barone's for cleaning up a bit, as well as replacing all the damaged seat covers! Still stuck in the past, but much cleaner now. Now, I'm happy to give 5 🌟's! BTW, just parked in the street and kept the $6+. ___________ My kids love the square pizza. Reliable place for traditional Italian. Why not 5 stars? Needs a little update inside, time to get out of the 1950's (or 1940's).
Old School in the best way. Classic Italian food the way it was meant to be. The house Italian salad dressing is amazing, and the pizza is even better. Excellent cocktails as well. Perfect Dirty Martinis! Prices are good for the quality of food and classy atmosphere. Other than the hostess with the weird attitude, everyone working there was wonderfully warm and friendly. Can't wait to go back!
This gem of a restaurant in Sherman Oaks is the best Italian food I've eaten (after my mother, of course). Everything from the appetizer pizza, ravioli, lasagna, minestrone soup and the house salad was incredible. Desserts were scrumptious and the full bar with black sambucca and killer martinis. Everything was perfect and our server was fast, friendly and topped off an outstanding meal with dear friends. If you are anywhere in the LA area, make your way to this wonderful restaurant. You won't be disappointed.
Everything about this place was 5/5 stars . The food was some of the best pasta I have ever had . The house salad was delicious . The waitress had amazing customer service . From the moment we walked in to the moment we left the entire experience was one to remember . Excited to come back here in the future !!
The perfect pizza. This is the old school Italian restaurant you want. Have you seen an Italian restaurant on TV or movies? Chances are its Barones. Everything I have ever ordered here is delicious, the staff are so friendly and attentive and again THE SQUARE PIZZA IS PERFECT!!!
BARONE'S PIZZERIA, an old-school, California eatery, provides excellent Italian meals and caring professional service. Opened in 1945, this large, family owned eatery was the first pizzeria in the San Fernando Valley to offer Neapolitan style, rectangular, thin-crust pizza.* There are rumors about Barone's unique pizza. Here's my favorite: The original Barone's was located near several movie studios. So when an East Coast actor asked the kitchen to make a New York City (NYC) style pizza the Chef responded, "But, I'm from Buffalo." So the Chef asked a few Italian friends, NYC actors, to help him re-create Gotham's round, thin-crust pie, that's ladled with Neapolitan sauce, and layed with shredded Mozzarella cheese. Barone's "pie" isn't quite an exact recreation. The Chef's thin-crust pizza was built on a rectangular sheet, the thin wheat crust is ladled with Neapolitan sauce, then layered with thin slices of Monterey Jack cheese. It's still presented that way. Barone's extensive Italian menu includes: salads, sea food, beef, pork, veal, and chicken entrees. So, of course, our party of five ordered four pizzas and vegan pasta. My vegan, angel hair primavera is delicious. The pasta is presented al dente, and includes lightly sauteed vegetables, complimented with a rich tomato sauce. There is, of course, no cheese. My wife and I shared a small dinner salad, with a mild Italian dressing. Our party's four rectangular pizzas are ordered with various toppings. All are enjoyed and everyone brought home wonderful leftovers. For dessert, my wife ordered a Sicilian cannoli. Juan, our waiter, said the secret of preparing a crackling good cannoli is to fill the pastry shell with sweetened ricotta cheese, just before serving. She loves it. UPDATE: On a another visit, I ordered lunch, a small, Veggie Deluxe pizza, prepared without cheese. The dinner-sized plate pizza comes loaded with the roasted veggies and bathed in their delicious Neapolitan sauce. The thin crust, round, vegan pizza is crisp, flavorful, and honestly, one of the best I've ever tasted. STUFF: Barone's has a full service bar. Paid parking in their lot is easy. Some nearby street parking. Everything is ADA compatible. * The eatery has moved twice. It expanded into it's present location in 2006.
Look, I'm just gonna say it -- this is the most satisfying pizza in the city right now. Great taste. Reasonable prices. We like ordering it extra crispy and last night it was awesome. Caesar salad, mozz sticks, and linguini with white clam sauce were all winners... the only negative was the complimentary bread was a leaning stale last night but they are forgiven.
This mom & pop joint is the real deal. Authentic Italian cuisine that warms the heart and tantalizes the palate. Their pizzas are truly out of this world....the best I've ever tasted. Tonight we decided to sample the entress and boy were they delicious!! We'll definitely be returning. Love everything about this place from the food to the ambience and wonderful service. Five stars all around. Highly reccomended!!
I've been coming to Barone's for decades. It's old school, unique and delicious. It had been a while since we visited since we'd moved out of the San Fernando Valley a few years back, but nothing can prevent Sunday night from being pizza night, and we thought we'd venture back into the old stomping grounds and see if it's what we remembered. It was! We love the old-school Valley/Italian restaurant vibe. One might expect a place like this to feel run down with the decor and old-style booths and tables, but it was as if the place had just opened. Everything was "shiny" and comfortable. The place was also packed on a Sunday. (At least in the dining room they had open. We ordered a medium pie with garlic, onions and tomatoes (extra crispy), and an individual pineapple pizza. (Pineapple pizza naysayers need not apply.) We love the square pies with crispy edges...sort of Sicilian and slightly Detroit style, but really unique, crispy and delicious. It tasted just like the first time I'd had it decades earlier. The house salad we had with it was enough for 3 of us, with a generous amount of non-lettuce items to keep it interesting. Service was friendly and fast. Prices are reasonable. I hope Barone's goes on forever.
OK, I must say, many, many, many moons ago my spouse and I took a few friends there who were visiting from Europe. And the experience we had wasn't the very best. Regarding food and service. And we haven't been there ever since. For the last few months, I pested my spouse to give it another try after all those years. And am I glad I did! This place changed so much. What I/we remembered. We were welcomed by a young friendly lady and led to our table. Shortly after this the waiter, Marco came over ( who turned out to be the bartender also). A very nice and attentive man. It was Friday. Fairly busy but not too much at 9:00 pm. After ordering our drinks, my spouse had a Low Carb Pasta Salad, that was incredibly delicious. Perfect for him as a vegan. He also ordered some Sauteed Artichoke Hearts ( ok, he cheated a little with the butter, and we shared that dish it was seriously OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! For myself, I ordered Veal Parmigiana. ( Now I must say, I LOVE veal). I have learned nice cuts of veal are hard to come by in general. But when Marco brought my plate of Veal Parmigiana I almost fainted due to a culinary ecstasy attack. Seriously. I love food, I appreciate good food. I appreciate Chefs and cooks who know what they are doing. This particular dish literately almost brought tears into my eyes of deliciousness ( LOL- I just had to make up this word) A huge piece of veal, I had never seen in all those years since I came to this country. Next to it is a nice variety of nicely cooked vegetables. Not overcooked like at most places. An extra bowl of pasta of my choice. Then he brought me a nice side salad I had ordered with the most amazing Italian dressing I have had for a long time. In addition to all this, we also asked for some garlic bread beforehand. This I must say. Was okay-ish and totally overpriced. Sorry. Once, again. The food was incredibly amazing. The service was superb. Thank you, Marco. See, again soon.
I was looking for an Italian spot near by and this popped up. Definitely an awesome Italian restaurant with amazing decor and that classic feel. I ordered the calamari, clam chowder and garlic cheese bread with a coffee. The calamari was excellent, perfect flavor, tender and crispy. The clam chowder was good and had lots of clam pieces. The cheese bread was also good, garlic & melted cheese on it. The coffee was also delicious. Great customer service and I’d definitely come back to try their pizza or other menu items. Parking wasn’t that bad but on peak days I see it being hard to park.
I really love going here for my birthday. As a sort of inside joke, I used to go to Olive Garden for my birthday every year. Last year a coworker practically begged me to go to Barone's instead. They weren't wrong, the food is fantastic. For the quality, the price is right as well. The only thing slightly lacking is the service. It's not bad, but maybe just a little inattentive. I probably shouldn't even mention it, because after a while they clearly realized they had made us wait a little too long and were fantastic hosts for the remainder of our late lunch. I'll be back next year for b-day #3.
Overall: food is delicious, its authentic and not too heavy. Enjoyable experience We went for a large party, the service provided was good. For our children's meals they would not accommodate a pasta with Alfredo sauce so we ordered an adult plate (not too much of a problem) Everyone enjoyed their meal. The cheese lasagna is huge and delicious. I ordered eggplant Parm with a side of pasta. Cheese ravioli were good but my niece wanted more. Everything was good. Appetizers ordered: garlic bread, mozzarella sticks, Calamari. Meals are reasonably priced. Parking lot is small and they charge $8. Valet fee which is a little high. But I get it their lot is like playing Tetris. We of course found street parking and had no issues walking some of that pasta off
Ate lunch here with friends mid-week. Quiet. We had a reservation, but I don't think we needed one. The large pizza fed all 4 of us. It was delicious. It comes in rectangular pan, and is the thicker style.
Pizza was overstuffed in center. Ate that part with a fork. The cheese was a little over down...brown. I normally love this pizza. Everyone there was new. We have been going to Barone's since my Grandma and Mom loved the pizza. The Barone salad bowl with house dressing is big enough to split. Love that dressing. The calamari is a good precursor.
Cool vintage-like restaurant that's been around for quite some time. Old school decor inside which probably hasn't changed much since it first opened. I personally like it. Service is really good! Super friendly and attentive. Went here on a Friday night with some co-workers and it was pretty packed which surprised me a bit. Parking is only Valet. You can park on the streets in the surrounding neighborhood (look out for permit signs) if you mind a little walk. Food was alright. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't like "omg, this is to die for" good.
Great family place and friends hangout.
I have eaten better Italian food, but Barone's is right up there. Plenty of food reasonable priced. Sit in the back room its quieter
Really good food... Great service and atmosphere
Pass by this restaurants for many years. I happen to see it on Diners Drive-Ins and dives with Guy fieri so I had to go and try the meatballs. Very good meatballs excellent pizza the pizza is off the chain it reminds me of another restaurant I used to frequent call casa Bianca. When I tasted that's when I knew it was real Italian.
Very old school Italian joint - went only because Guy Fieri went and the food was good! Pesto pasta had a bit too much sauce so would ask for lighter sauce. As an appetizer we got the “Franks Special Pizza” and it was insanely small, only 6 tiny slices for $19. Would not get again. Friend had spaghetti carbonara and that was top notch. Total was around $95 (with tip and taxes) for 2 people so not bad! Went only a Friday night and only had to wait a few minutes for a table with very quick service
Barone's is a good restaurant but their small parking lot appeared to only be for valet parking. Otherwise parking is on side streets. When I entered, the receptionist was busy with a customer paying their bill. I found a menu one can take with them marked, "Take out and Dine-in Menu." I found what I wanted to order. I was seated in short time, given the table menu and saw that the prices in the table menu were lower than the prices in the take away menu. When I was given my bill, the items were charged at the higher rates. When i brought this to the attention of the receptionist, she was a bit taken aback but did call the manager. The manager listened to my assertion about the difference in prices in the 2 menus. He explained that the tables menu I was given has the old prices and that it hadn't been taken out of circulation. I persisted and the manager adjusted my bill to the older prices since that was the menu I was given. I very much appreciate a manager like this one who realized it was the restaurant's mistake and made the adjustment. Kudos to the manager! The food was good. Service ok. Overall I recommend Barone's. I believe you'll enjoy it quite a lot!
We eat here all the time and today was really weird. One waitress and no bar tender. No one in charge. It really ruined the experience for me. The drink was terrible, didn't bother ordering another one and my food was cold. I hope this is not the new normal. The service is always so good, I was so disappointed.
The food here is really delicious and if you ho a pizza is mist have even if your just talking it home with you, the service was sub par even with a reservation we had to wait 10 minutes for a table and were told to pay 8 dollars for parking are selves because the sign wasn’t turned the right way. The waiter came to are table to get our drink order and brought our drinks but took about 20 minutes to come back and get our order but afterwards wed check up pretty frequently and waters were always toped off. The atmosphere is nice and pretty but the tables are pretty close together and its gets kinda loud in there making it harder to talk. Over all a good restaurant but I will probably just order out instead of eating in next time.
Amazing decor and retro vibe. This place feels like a time capsule. Fried Calamari was excellent as is their pizza. Solid Italian food with great ambience. The only negative is that the valet parking is an absolute SCAM. The parking lot is like 8 spots and the valet moves your car 10 feet.
The restaurant was pretty empty when I came in and still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. . Pizza was still great like when I was a kid. Do not order their "Famous" lobster mushrooms, as they were very small and lacked flavor.
My first visit was excellent with me and service dog. The bartender, since quit sadly, was incredibly gracious. My 2nd visit with service dog and a friend did not go well. Hostess asked to ID my dog, no problem. Then management came to table in force and we're not polite when again asking about my dog. After ID wad provided they backed off but grudgeingly. It destroy Ed the mood and ambiance. Their scotch is heavily overpriced and lunch was only so so. Unfortunate that this esthetically pleasing place had such I'll mannered management at the time we had lunch. I will reconsider giving this place a third chance because the ambiance is so awesome. Sorry guys, treat your customers like who they are. They keep you in business. I could have easily spent my $180 lunch somewhere else like SMOKEHOUSE.
Good atmosphere. Service was bad. They never checked with us and I had to go ask for my check. The seating was back to back. Hardly any walking room. Food was ok.
We were surprised by the valet parking only for $8. No self park option for the same space 30 feet away. Venue is pretty cool. It’s not retro. It’s real. It’s a throwback to an old style restaurant. Our waiter was pretty arrogant. Very abrupt and not engaged. We asked for separate checks early and he seemed offended and ultimately did not do it. Didn’t make eye contact much. The water fill guy was good. Food was very mediocre. The spaghetti sauce seemed like from a can. Bread was from the grocery store. Food presentation was cafeteria-ish. Pizzas looked good. Maybe that’s their thing, but they present themselves as high end but don’t deliver. I probably wouldn’t go back other than to try the pizza.
Barone’s charges to valet their private lot, $8 (missing star) I get why, they want more people to fit in the small lot but still that was quite pricy. Fam came for a celebration, 13 of us! I really liked that our server was good at upselling, she was nice to say, “Soup or Salad, for an additional charge” She asked each and every one of us. They were busy and kept everyone on one side of the restaurant, it was very loud, we were all yelling to hear each other. The pizza was terrible, maybe I hold a higher standard but it wasn’t just me a couple of people in my party which tried it, agreed. The spaghetti and meat balls, typical nothing special about it. (missing star) Glad I got to try them since they’ve been around forever.
Really nice atmosphere, but unfortunately the food & the service weren’t up to par. Went with a large group and from the get go let the server know that we would be splitting the bill in two (we even seated ourselves as two separate parties for this arrangement), to which the staff agreed to. Everyone got their food in a timely manner except me. Tried to flag down the server multiple times but to no avail. He never returned to check on us for about 40 min after food had been served. When he finally noticed me , told him about my missing food and he brought it. It was sitting on the kitchen counter the whole time. Food was cold and at this point was too hungry to ask for a fresh plate. After , when they brought the bill, they did not split it. They told us to do it ourselves. Very unprofessional. Mediocre Italian food , expensive , & bad customer service. Will not be returning.
I ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms,Medium Cheese Pizza, and a side of Homemade Italian Dressing. 1. Stuffed Mushrooms: filled with a breaded substance. You don’t see any lobster, crab , or shrimp. The filling was like a stuffing with a hint of flavor. I would not order these again. Very overrated and over priced. 2. Medium Cheese Pizza: Basic, reminded me of school lunch pizza. Flavorful but nothing to write home about. Goes well w/the Italian dressing. Overrated & Over priced as well. 3. Homemade Italian Dressing: Delicious! The Best Italian dressing I’ve ever had. Maybe next time I’ll order a Salad & Pasta. Maybe.
*My review can be validated by similar reviews on Yelp. LAURA RUANO is probably the rudest person I've ever encountered in customer service. I feel completely validated that there are MANY other people who have had similar experiences with her. It's sad to me that I walked out of there telling my family that I will never go back because of my interaction with her. I have been going here my whole life. My mother has been going her whole life. Lifelong customers lost. Our reservation was very early (4:30p) because we were coming straight from another event. I should have been tipped off by the way we were greeted by the blonde woman who seemed really stressed out and not very friendly as she sat us (perhaps she had had a stressful interaction with Laura too). The restaurant was nearly empty. Our waiter greeted us almost immediately and took our drink orders and salad orders. He took forever to bring our drinks, we all kept looking out for him, and when he did finally come he forgot my father in laws drink (twice). We asked for bread two different times. They finally brought 2 baskets of (not warm) bread for a table of 10. I asked if we could get more, and they said they ran out. I asked what happened to the bread they usually serve and he said they weren't able to order enough due to all the restaurants re-opening (which I understood)..... but I wish this explanation was given to us when we first sat down rather than an hour into being there. My father's pizza was missing a topping that they ended up charging us for, and they charged us for extra toppings for our salad (which would have been fine had our waiter mentioned this at the time of ordering to see if we still wanted the items at an additional charge). I also had to go find the waiter to place our pizza order. We ended up leaving around 7pm ..... not because we were enjoying each other's company, but because we were waiting for our waiter and pizzas. They tacked on a hefty gratuity so I approached my waiter about adjusting the cost of the four topping pizza (for which we only received 3) and the extra topping for the salad (it was the PRINCIPLE, not the $8 it was going to save me on a $275 tab). This was when I encountered Laura who first asked me if we "looked under the cheese for the missing item"..... rather than offering an apology, and refused to credit me for the $6 in extra salad toppings. Then she brought over the waiter (after she complained she was short of staff ), and said "this woman claims her service was bad and that her order was wrong".... mind you, she was trying to embarrass ME in a lobby full of people, not trying to address a problem with her waitstaff ( which would have been an inappropriate time to address the issues regardless). My interaction with her escalated and I told her not to bother crediting me anything..... I wanted to get away from her toxicity. Anyone feeling in the mood for a Barone's pizza , go to the other locations who are owned by their relatives.... who seem (thus far) to value their life long customers.
Oldie and smells old! Food was prepared neatly but absolutely tasteless (my scaloppini tasted like paper) only one person out of 4 was happy with her shrimps. When we came for a lunch on weekend place was absolutely empty even thou they are not kids friendly ( when my 3 year old started researching next sits waiter told me the owner doesn't like it). Bill came out more than $200 with nothing to remember. Five star reviews come from loyal customers who order pizza only.
Went here and was amazed at how I was treated. I've eaten here quite a few times and have always been impressed with the food and usually the staff but this last experience had me questioning whether I want to be a customer anymore. I went to pick up a call in order and left my cards so I only had cash. My order was 20.70. I gave the person at the register 40 dollars and figured I could use some of the money back as a tip. The employee made me feel awkward as she asked "you don't have 70 cents?" almost as if the additional 20 dollar bill was not valid currency. I said no and she just stared at me as if 19.30 did not exist in the register. After the awkward silence set in for a few seconds I said I would go check in my car. I went back to my car, in the cold weather (it was night time and I had just switched into shorts after coming back from a funeral) got the change out of it and came back and gave it to her. After that I didn't even really want the order but it was expected by my family so I just waited for it and left. I can't help but feel that me being a black man in basketball shorts made the hostess feel that this was appropriate behavior but money is money. I should not have to leave the establishment to go find change when I had more than enough to cover the charge on hand when I first entered. It saddens me because after informing my wife of this incident I had learned that she was actually going to plan a birthday party for me here due to how much I enjoyed going there prior. I think that plan, as well as any future visits from myself or recommendations to my clients and family will be canceled going forward as I would hate for them to experience this as well. -Came back another time just to see if it changed. Horrible service still. Pizza quality was bad this time. Prices are more for 1/2 to almost 1/3 the size.
Came here at 9:42 & they wouldn’t serve us or let us order to-go stating their kitchen closes at 9:30. Please update your google business listing to reflect your actual hours so that potential future customers aren’t disappointed like we were as it clearly states your open till 11pm currently. The one star is just to reflect this as we weren’t able to try the service or food quality!
I made an order for pick up that cost me over $50 plus tip for a Fettuccine Alfredo, and a meatball sandwich with cheese. When I arrived past the time I was told it would be ready I had to wait another 20 minuets to get my order when I got home the sandwich bread was burnt there was no cheese. it was not edible. I called them and explained the situation and was told the manager was out for three days and would call me back. I received no call back. I called again a week later but the women who answered the phone was rude told me she didn’t know when the manager would be there didn’t let me explain took my name and number again and said she did not know when he wold get back to me! I will never eat there again! The food was awful and customer service even worse. I used to Oder pizza at another location and loved it but this experience made me never want to go there again!
Came in to a fiasco with the pink troll trying to micro manage their employees. Complete chaos 4 people helping one phone order. The troll in the pink was causing it all. Stood there in front of her while she vented that people who are not trained should not be in the front. Completely oblivious to the people in front of her waiting for help.
In short, as soon as we parked, we walked out of the car and the valet claimed that we did damage to the car next to us by opening our car door into it, and demanded our information. First of all, there was absolutely no damage. Second of all, we didn’t even touch the other car with our car door. This didn’t phase us much, so we walked in and still looked to eat there. The hostess then told us the kitchen was closed. It was about 8:45 and the place closes at 9:30 on Saturdays. Not very welcoming lol.
This place is not what it used to be. I will definitely not be back. The manager ( Rachelle) is very rude, disrespectful and seems not to care about costumers.
Horrified by my experience here because of the restaurants policy, not the server. In short, I will never go back. The WRONG food was delivered to the table and set in front of a guest, but we were told it was the dish he ordered. He began to eat it. A few minutes later, the server arrived and said that the wrong dish had been delivered. And then attempted to pull the dish away while he was eating it. I said, it's fine, just leave it, he is already eating it, you cant do anything with it anyway. Their mistake all the way. The guest whose food was served to someone else waited 15 minutes to get a hot plate in front of him and then the restaurant had the AUDACITY to charge me for the extra dish that they served INCORRECTLY. When I realized that I had been charged for this, they said they either needed to take the food and throw it away (rather than let me take it home since it already hit the table and began to be eaten prior to their realizing their mistake) or I would be charged. Absolute worst policy ever to look at your customer and say I would rather throw this away than try to make it right - the fact that your party didn't eat together because of my staff's mistake. Will NEVER be back nor recommend.
I was asked if I had a reservation, which I didnt so I asked for a table of 2. We go sit down and ask the waiter some questions and told us we were given the wrong menu’s by “accident”. God bless him because he saved us from an argument with management. Why would me and my wife specifically only get wrong menus. We got up and left. Olive Garden would never do that to us…
Stopped by for the first time today 1/18/26 with my family and was not what we expected. We entered Barones and were greeted with a “do you need a table” with attitude instead of a welcome. We sat down and we asked for water. Three cups of water were served but my wife’s cup had a somewhat washed lipstick stain. We asked for another cup of water and she either got the same cup or she got another cup with the same stain. One thing is for sure that the pizza margherita was the most bland pizza I have ever tasted and to be honest the way it was cooked and served should not be called a margherita pizza. The carbonara, chicken parmigiana and the angel hair needed some salt which would have helped the overall taste of the meal.
First of all the restaurant smells like mold or mildew. It has a very bad odor so me and my children were dining at Barone’s and there were several issues that we were having. We were very patient. We asked for a manager to address the issues the manager came to the table and addressed the first issue. The food kept coming out cold and appetizers were served with entrées all at once they just kept throwing the food on the table the waiter comes to hand me an entrée. . The food kept coming out cold and appetizers were served with entrées all at once they just kept throwing the food on the table the waiter comes to hand me a entrée failing to tell me that the plate was burning hot. He placed it in my hand without warning me that it was straight out of the oven. My three fingertips were burned, and my skin started to Bubble no one offered me ice. No one offered anything I had to Flagstaff down to ask for ice for So after I paid the bill, I asked to speak to the manager. The waiter told me you need to just pay your bill because she’s busy and she cannot come out to talk to you and does not want to come out and talk to you so I told the waiter very I have no problem paying my bill, but I’m not going to leave until I address this issue with the manager, so I got up from my table and waited for her upfront while Rachel the manager comes out and starts shouting and starts calling me That my hand is not burned when I am physically, showing her that my hand is burnt. She continues to shout and then start to record my minor children without permission. Verbally threatening me and my children telling us that we don’t know who she is and that we don’t know what she’s capable of doing to us so I said ma’am, are you verbally threatening me she said you don’t have any proof so she continue to threaten me, my 11-year-old was smart enough to get all of Camera, once she saw that Rachel was recording us and verbally threatening us so we do have video footage of this after I paid my bill She continued to threaten us telling us we don’t know who she is and what she is going to do to us and then told us that we are on private property last eye checked a restaurant establishment is not private property after my bill was paid in full and me and my children were exiting the restaurant. She continued to follow us, harass us, and started recording my license plate, threatening and telling me you don’t know what I You you don’t know what I’m going to do to you. There was an older man. I guess it’s her father or whoever because they says that it Establishment is just sitting there and is laughing. I have never in my life dying at a restaurant and for a manager to threaten your life verbally is she a restaurant owner or is she part of some type of mafia or cartel? Let’s not talk about a big black strand of hair that was in my daughter‘s food and the entrées that never arrived at the table this restaurant should be closed down immediately I will be The city and the health department I have never ever had. Anyone threatened me or my children the way that Rachel the manager did.
I hate writing this review because 1. I am a small business owner and rely on reviews to keep my business going 2. Barone's WAS one of my all time favorite restaurants and 3. We did give the management fair warning that there were several issues with our service and meal and almost nothing was done. We went for dinner last night (a Sunday) and the restaurant was pretty empty (the rain was probably an issue). Also, I would like to say, we are going out, we appreciate everyone's time and know that not everything can be perfect. It is part of the charm and understanding and we are very reasonable. However, we realized that we had waited an hour (our reservation was at 6:30pm) we had drinks immediately but upon finishing them, we waited another hour before I very politely went to the hostess (our server was not coming to the table, despite trying to get her attention), and asked if I could speak with her. I wanted to do this discreetly, since there were other people at the stand. She insisted that I speak to her there, so I let her know we are long time customers and realize something may be off, we are very thirsty (and hungry) if she could assist us. Her response was that they were short a server, due to an accident, (very sorry to hear that, again as a business owner I understand) and that she was aware the service was not going to be on par. And then, she just stopped talking. I said, ok... Should we leave? Can we get more water? What is the next step, because just sitting there waiting longer was not going to work. A manager overheard (who I thought was a customer) and he asked where we were sitting and our drinks came soon after. Then, another employee came to the table to ask what we needed/ and what the issues were. We explained that the pizza was prepared wrong and that one dish never arrived. The pizza that was wrong, she didn't offer to remake, or apologize, just the explanation that the server wrote it correctly and the cooks messed it up. I appreciate that, but the correct order, or even asking us for the next step would have been best. It was all just so uncomfortable. When I passed the address on to our friends that were meeting us there, I explained that this is an old place, with tons of character and amazing food. None of that was true last night and I have a hard time seeing how it could be any different, even under different circumstances. Eating out is a lot these days, life is a lot these days but I wish I would have read a review like mine before making our dinner plans. Unfortunately taking Barone's off of our favorite list.
