Best falafel in town. And their chicken is to die for. Nicest couple you’ve ever met run the place. Check them out -you will not be disappointed.
I have been coming here for approx. 14+ years, and I used to have their regular gyro meal with jalapeños on the side every time I went - at one point when I was working close by or when I was at UTA, I would stop by at least once a week. I am giving this place five stars because of the food and the friendly owner (the wife, definitely not the husband lol), but if I were to rate it based on the interior and upkeep then this place definitely doesn't deserve five stars. They badly need to update/remodel/maintain this restaurant. Their drive-thru is fairly quick, and they have lots of parking. Overall, they have a great gyro sandwich, and honestly I don't understand they reviews below giving bad ratings for the food, because I've been here so many times that its safe to establish that their food quality and taste is solidly consistent.
I could eat gyros everyday, but this was exceptionally good. The special #2 Gyro, fries, and a drink was about $12, I added a piece of baklava to mine (again exceptional). The gentleman who took my order was kind and if I had to guess the owner as well. The atmosphere was quiet and very clean yet simple, all attributes I prefer when dining. Menu was in my opinion the staples of middle eastern cuisine, kabobs, gyros, dolmas, falafel, hummus and the like. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a great tasting gyro, and I will be returning when I visit Arlington area again. Kali orexi! Opa!
A little gem of a local restaurant. It was clean, bright and friendly. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. If I lived closer, I would be a regular customer.
I've been to Gyros House a handful of times over the past few years and each time the food has been amazing! The service is pretty fast and the owners are very nice. It was cool to learn that they've been here for so long. I normally get a gyro and baklava, and it each time it is so mouth watering good! I can't recommend this place enough. The seating inside is good for groups of people too.
The combination platter - was absolutely perfect! Spot on Mediterranean flavors - with the gyro meat carrying on better flavors than most other Gyro based Mediterranean restaurants (usually - I don’t pick up on rosemary when eating a Gyro). The Baklava was also a treat (when it’s this good - it’s usually home made). Also a surprise - Nehi soft drink offerings (including root beer!) had not had a Nehi in over a few decades! The food is also reasonably priced - a family dining experience here - should not break the bank.
The food is great and the employees are very nice. I like that they had classical music playing instead of the radio. Everything is well portioned for the fair price. Definitely an easy go to and for sure a well recommended place to grab a bite to eat.
I never leave reviews, but this place is great!! Ate here two days in a row. The gyro was fantastic! 2nd day had the falafel and it was amazing as well! Owners are super nice and sweet. If you love gyros, please do yourself a favor and eat here! I will definitely be back!
The owners are always so friendly and nice. The food is also great. Love the gyro rice and salad plate. Great portions and the gyro meat is delicious. I know people like to go to Prince that is close by but I prefer Gyro House over Prince any day.
This family-owned Gyros House is a gem! After more than a decade of patronage, it's as fantastic as ever. My go-to order is the Gyros Combo paired with Orange Soda, and it never disappoints!
I’ve been going to this place for YEARS and it has remained my favorite place for Gyros. The prices are great, the quality is wonderful and the service is spot on every time. It might just be a good thing that they don’t have delivery because I’m sure I’d be ordering every single day
I love this place. It is our favorite place to eat in Arlington. We have been going here for years. The owner has our order memorized and she is always so sweet and lovely. The food is authentic and is cooked exactly the same each time we go. The rice is the best and the gyro meat is flavored nicely. The sauce is absolutely perfect. I like getting the gyro sandwich with rice. The little salad on the side is always a nice little touch. The pistachio baklava is a must try. I like that it is not too syrupy like many baklava.
Such a great little place! We tried here for the first time and it was great!! The rice was delicious steak kebab was a little too cooked for my taste but the flavor was delicious and the chicken kebab was so juicy, tender and has so much flavor. We will definitely be going back.
I have been coming here since 1998. I love the gyros! The food is always served hot and delicious. I have never been disappointed. Whenever I am in the area I try to stop by. It is always nice to see the same 2 friendly familiar faces. Yesterday I took my son to his Dr appointment and he was bound determined to get Mc Donald's. Since we were over this way I decided I was going to get my Gyro and then him his mc d's. Upon receiving my food my son said "Why does that smell so good?" We didn't even make it around the corner and he gave it a bite and decided we need to go here every time he goes to his appointment. A new favorite for the new generation.
So, the gyro house is a place that has been around for a while. It's consistently good. I personally would like for them to allow a substitution for their fries. I feel the sandwiches don't go we them. Don't get me wrong.... I'm still a frequent customer for their sandwiches. Very tasty.
Awesome Just happened to be working in area. Remembered place from 2000. Swung by... Food is still as good as when I ate here way back then. We only get one time on the ride... Enjoy the experience Try to balance what we do..
Best gyros in the city! Their gyros taste better than the ones I had in Toronto and San Diego. Prices are great and the folks are a decent bunch.
I've been eating here for over 20 years. The food is great and really consistent. Easy to stop in and grab lunch and the warm pita and meat hits the spot every time.
Out of all of the Arlington institutions I've chosen to eat at in the area for more than a decade, Gyros House has always been in the rotation of "oh, that sounds great" restaurants. Friendly service, always a quality, no-frills meal that is affordable and very, very satisfying. The owner has served me in college, my wife and family, and now my kids. Wish nothing but success for them — mainly so I can pop by for gyro whenever the mood strikes for years to come.
Beyond great!! 😎👍 We had the regular gyro plate + chicken kabob plate. I am seriously confused as to how it could be served so quickly and taste so fresh, juicy and yummy. Can't wait to taste the tabouli we ordered to-go. We will be back!! Even though this is almost a 20 min drive for us. Totally worth it!
This is one of those local Arlington gems that have been around for YEARS and consistently serves up hot, fresh and delicious food! I'm always sure to stop by to grab myself a gyro wrap when the craving hits. 10/10
Great food! I’m a big fan of the gyro combo. The flavor is great, they don’t skimp on the meat, and the fries are always piping hot. They must be really organized because their drive through moves ridiculously fast.
Very clean, pleasant small restaurant and it's very pleasingly quiet
6/29/17 - After my first visit on 6/7, I brought my family for lunch. We ordered a gyro plate, child's plate, a gyro sandwich and a side of dolmas. Everything tasted great. The place is clean and has a warm atmosphere. 6/7/19 - Made a quick stop at the drive-thru to order a gyro sandwich. It was stuffed full of meat. They don't skimp. And it was delicious!! It looks like a fast food joint, but it's better than it looks.
Family owned restaurant. We have been coming here for a decade, and it is always fantastic. Get the Gyro Special every time - gyro, fries, and a drink. Yum!
The dolmas are fantastic. A little spicy, which I loved. The gyro plate was great and loaded with food. It made two meals for me. I used the drive thru which was quick and convenient. Service wasn't spectacular but I feel like that may have been due to a bit of a language barrier. He was nice enough and with food like this FROM A DRIVE THRU, he could be flat out rude and I'd be there for it. Hahaha
A literal Mom & Pop shop, everything is made from scratch and with a lot of care. This time I ordered a Gyro Platter, Dolma and Falafel. A huge meal for under $20! Everything is delicious and much better for you than a burger with fries or pizza. Give yourself a treat and head over to Gyro House for good food from good people 😋
The food was awesome. Great tradition very tasty. Very friendly and yeah sure it’s an old building but it’s good food.
Love their food. We have known the owners for about 16 years.
I have to get this place every time I’m in the area. Their food is unbelievable!
Small family owned place with good food and very friendly service. I've been going here for over 17 years and the quality of the gyro sandwich has stayed consistent. The owners (who are always personally running the register and taking orders) are so kind and honest.
THE GYRO WRAP IS SO THICK! I have had alot of gyros but this place really goes above and beyond to cram so much meaty goodness inside a pita. Don't sleep on this place it's service is quicker then any other place .. puts olives to shame. Puts them all to shame. The rice here is decidant I always get a side of it
I used the drive-through. The food is some of the best I have had, and the lady at the window was friendly and efficient. I'll definitely return. We had gyros, a chicken shi kabob sandwich, and pistachio baklava.
Best gyros sandwich I've had in YEARS!! Fresh tzatziki on top, ready in about one minute. Baklava was sweet and crispy - NOT soggy or toughened by reheating in the microwave - choice of pistachio or walnut. The shop was old and not very attractive, but it was clean, and the people who ran it cared and knew what they were doing. The best ethnic places look bad, but taste fantastic and are authentic.
Great family owned business that serves great food. Have always came back here for years now!
The best spot for a quick and delicious Gyro in Arlington. Very quick service. Very simple. I drive thru regularly and food is always fresh.
Always delicious. I used the drive through
I’ve only had Greek food a few times, and this honestly is one of the best places I’ve eaten in DFW since I moved here. Got my food in less than a minute (faster than McDonald’s), fries were very fresh and the gyro sandwich was phenomenal. I’m typically a picky eater and I finished this in less than a few minutes. I will be coming back!
One of the best gyros I have had in the USA. I was stationed in Germany 4 years and traveled extensively. Needs some ambience, but very true to Greek cuisine.
This is our favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Arlington. Husband-and-wife own and staff it and they are very nice. Food is amazing!
Moved down from the WI/IL border where I could get Mediterranean food just about anywhere. Took me 2 years to find this place and when I did, I was in Nirvana. I have been a loyal customer ever since. That was back in 2002. They see my husband and start our order.😄 If they have not seen me in a while they ask after me. Always great food and good service. Reasonable prices.
Having been coming here since my wife and I attended UTA decades ago. It's been consistently good, and service is always great. Definitely coming back
An Arlington classic and incredible value, this gyro shop stole my heart way back in 2008. The quality of the food has never changed and is always delicious. I especially love their Gyro sandwich. I typically measure other Greek or Mediterranean style places against my experience of the Gyro here. The baklava is wonderful as well as their plates. The owner and employees are friendly and the food comes out quickly. I wish it was closer to where I live but I stop by whenever i am craving this kind of food.
I’ve eaten at Gyros House for over 20 years- delicious! I love the kabobs, rice with tomatoes and onions, toasted pita bread, all the sauces and especially the falafels!!! You can call it in and drive through and pick it up! Yay, Masoud and Parvin- the owners and now friends! Yes!! Eat a Gyros House!
I've been going here since the 90's and it still tastes the same. So good! Best gyros in the world.
The best gyro sandwich around hands down. I've been coming here for 25 years same owner since I was a kid.
Absolutely love this place. I've been coming here since I moved to Arlington almost 20 years ago. Gyro house is one of the best places for gyros, falafel and all things greek. Every time it's so good and the combination plate gives a little bit of everything. The couple who owns the place are very friendly and accommodating. Check em out. You won't regret it.
The place in DFW for gyros. Other Greek dishes are great, too, but gyros is the headliner, and for good reason. I've been a customer here for many, many years and plan to be for many, many more. Excellent family-run business; give it a try. Update: After many years, I still love this place. There are a lot more gyro places around these days, but none come close to being as good.
This is honestly the best gyro and baklava in town. Have been coming here for over 15 years and the food is authentic, consistently excellent, and everyone is so friendly! It is definitely worth checking out!
This literal "Mom and Pop" restaurant is great, authentic Greek food. I've enjoyed it for years.
Family owned and operated consistently top notch food. Clean and kind.
#1 place for authentic Gyros! Whenever family flies into DFW airport, Gyro House is our 1st stop. I've been going there since the 90's & the food is consistently fabulous
Delicious, I haven't had good fresh food in a long time and this was like squirldiving from the top of a mountain. I was in blissful free fall falling in love with this food. I had the Gyro and when I tell you I'm in love. "I'm in love and I don't care who knows!" "Who is it sweetie?" "Gyro!" "Hero?" "Well I suppose you could say that yes." "What?" :End Scene Thank you!
This is hands down the best gyro in Arlington. You get more meat than anywhere else, and the quality is unmatched. I’ve tried other spots all over the area, but nothing comes close. The owners have been serving the community since 1991 and keep the place spotless. If you’re looking for the best gyro in DFW, this is it.
Delicious! Authentic! You can taste that it was made with care! We stopped in from out of town to grab a bite before we all became hangry and happened to happily find a new go to place when we are here next! Highly recommend!
Great place to go get a Gyro and other Greek food. Been going there since the mid 1990s. The couple that the owns the place provide great service, tastee food, and are really nice - always makes you feel welcome. We moved away about a year ago, but try to go eat there whenever we are back in Arlington.
We eat here weekly. The best gyros and salads are here at this place. They have great specials. The meats are tender, the sauce is amazing, your order is made once placed. You can call in your order as well. Friendly service and great atmosphere.
Delicious, authentic Greek food with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great service, generous portions, and excellent quality. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be back!
Amazing food for the price. The chicken kabob and fries is my favorite thing to eat here. Baklava is surprisingly good!
First time here. Our basketball organization was attended a tournament in Pantego. We decided to go as a team between games. About 25 of us showed up at one time. The Gentleman at the counter was so kind and patiently took All of our orders and the food came out very quickly. Hot and tasty 😋 Thank you Gyro Shop! We will be back!
Amazing food! Has not changed since I was a UTA student in 2005. Good, clean, and consistent. The husband and wife owners are great people. A must try if you're in the metro!
I’ve been visiting the Gyros House for over 20 years and it remains my go to spot for gyros. Perfectly casual and everything you want it to be. The meat is WAY better than other Greek spots 3 times the price. A must visit if you’re in Arlington and craving gyros. I highly recommend the gyro plate with extra meat.
So happy to have finally tried this place tonight after my friend had been recommending it for so long! This place has so much character that I knew the food was going to be good just by the looks of it. The food came out quickly. I got the #2 which I believe is just the classic gyro, the meat was super tender and the tzatziki sauce was tangier than I’ve had, but I loved it! I think it compliments the gyro better that way. Grabbed some dolma too, because how could you not. Definitely recommend. Lastly, there are FOUR different types of baklava; pistachio, walnut, pine nut, and cashew. I didn’t even know it was made with anything other than pistachio or walnut! All were very good, some of the best baklava I’ve had yet.
Me and my friend ordered the house special chicken plate and it's a good enough proportion! The meal felt very authentic, had the feta crumbled cheese, lettuce, big olives, rice also felt good it had way extra tomatoes with their skin along with tomato slices on the side, and the yoghurt based sauce. Chicken was a little less cooked as it felt a bit hard. I will try the falafel next time and update this review. The atmosphere/vibe inside the restaurant felt a little too old school and the place seems like it needs an upgrade. The sink was placed conveniently outside to wash your hands as you won't be able to stop yourself from eating the meal with your hands.
I had heard good things about this little restaurant close to UTA. I was in the area and went through the drive-thru to pick up some lunch. But didn't have the combination that exactly what I wanted on the menu, so he let me put together falafel, pita, and a big salad. The service is good, the food was served quickly and well prepared. Definitely would go back.
Great family run business. Very fast service. Gyros always served hot and delicious. I always get the #2 lunch special - 1 beef Gyros, fries, and a drink. I add on one of those pistachio sweets at the counter. Special will run you around $13 and change. Your meal will be ready in a flash, I love to stop here when I'm in a rush. Only thing I would change is the fries. I wish they served longer length fries instead of what seems like all short pieces of fries. Long fries are easier to dip in the ketchup instead of those stubby pieces. But the Gyros is always good.
Great food, quick service through the drive through and very friendly. Food tasted authentic and made by family, not your typical mass produced fast food chain. I would recommend visiting, we will be e back to try more on their menu.
Looked at their Google reviews thought I'd go thru drive-thru. The outside looked somewhat sketchy but ya know those places s usually serve the best. lol I took a chance. Very nice lady took my order. It was fast. Ordered Gyro, their most popular, and hummus. Good news 1st...Gyro was delicious! Bad news.....hummus was not...it was bitter. Tasted like they may have used garlic powder or older garlic. 🤔 Also pricing was $17 for both...thought that was a little high. 😋$8 for gyro. I'd go back just for that though.
The food was fresh, and the portions were generous. The location is convenient with plenty of parking, making it easy to stop by. The service was average, and it’s definitely more of a quick in-and-out spot. I tried the shish kabob rice plate and the gyro—both were decent, not extraordinary, but they hit the spot if you’re craving Greek food.
The guy in the drive thru did not seem very interested in helping us. We did ask to add to items we ordered and he said the items already had that but we did not receive the add ons. While ordering, he walked away before we finished ordering. The food was filling but was not the most flavorful.
I wanted a gyro or a good lambish meal. The menu reads saffron rice, now those of us that know a little somin, somin, knows saffron is red and would make the rice a beautiful orangey red. This is just Beijing rice, which I prefer so I didn't understand why say one and give the other? It was more rice than meat, and the salad was soggy due to the heavy vinegar based dressing. I would not return, there wasn't anything special to have me return. Thank you
Idk how they have all these 5 star reviews, maybe they treat people Dino in better. I came and got a gyro through the drive through and it was disgusting. It was only little pieces of meat that fell off while they were cutting slices. It was also not fresh. I would say I would go back and try the dine in experience but this has turned me off of going back completely. It had some flavor so it probably would have been pretty good if it was fresh.
This was the second time I ate here thinking perhaps the first time reopening post Covid was an issue. What a waste of time and money. My beef kebab was so dry and chewy. Bland as well. Anyone who thinks this a a five star eating experience clearly has limited exposure to true Gyros.
So I was in a rush today and I decided to stop here. I ordered a Gyro with fries. The fries were great, but you can tell that the Gyro meat was old. I’m gonna start taking pictures of the food when I make a review because it was so disgusting and hard. You can look at it and tell that it had been sitting there so I just ate the fries.
I got the combination platter falafel was so dry and hard it was falling apart everywhere the gyro meat is very dry took them two seconds to make the food so I'm guessing they made it way earlier and was just sitting there that's probably why the falafel was so hard you can see in the pictures how hard the falafel is only thing that was good was the pita bread The salad was real and hard too I don't know why they have a 4.6 rating maybe they pay people to rate them five stars I don't know I'll never go back there though I give them a million thumbs down👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽
I never even got to try the food when i walked through the door 🚪 the half bald guy at the register didnt even speak when i walked in no biggie i spoke to him he turned around and gave me the death stare i was like 😳 so I literally just turned around and walked out and went to jack in the box not saying jack is better but atleast they spoke
I sent my son in to buy our usual family order 6 gyro platers and he had to use the restroom but, the owner stopped him and denied allowing him to urinate before ordering. After 20 years of supporting this business our family will not spend one dime in this store again. The owner looks angry all the time like he is miserable. Where ever he learned this business practice he should forget it. The gyros have gotten smaller and less quality but, price constantly increases. Bad business practice.
I went to the drive thru and ordered my food. I explained to the owner that I wanted the gyro sandwich combo sauce on the side. I got my food home and it was literally thrown together, the fries and meat were cold. I was charged $15. I went back to take the food back and the owner was rude and told me nothing was wrong with the food and he only refunded $3.75. This place is horrible and I would not recommend it to anyone.
