We're returning customers (frequency visit if we're able to get a reservation). The service is always good, although the tables are very close to each other's. Special thanks to the Caesar. I've seen him several times and he's always nice, accommodating, and just genuinely bring a good vibe. For whatever reason, the food today is spot on (Jan 28th). However, they ran out of two cocktails on their menu (captain, and another drink due to lacking passion fruit liquor) Highly recommend Salt if you're able to get a reservation.

You already know, been here several times over the years and it’s a great spot. Sister speakeasy to Heirloom. Great atmosphere and great food. Almost perfect for a date night. It can be a little loud for a casual convo depending on where you are seated. And you can be a lil too close to a stranger seated nearby depending on where you are seated. Unless that’s your thing and you want to eavesdrop on an awkward first date haha. It’s right on that threshold of being almost too expensive for drinks. I feel like they are definitely pushing the limits on the pricing there. I mean it’s clever, what are you going to do if you are on a date, tell them they shouldn’t order that and get something cheaper lol. Of course not lol. The food is delish so that’s fair. Overall great spot and I have enjoyed all the times I have been here.

I am always impressed with my cocktails from Salt. As a speakeasy enthusiast, they definitely leave a mark. This is probably my 4th time here and always remember the savoryness of the panna cotta but I will say, the food menu has lacked in flavor this time so I wont waste my money on food here anymore. Even the gnocchi I had a couple years ago and tried again this round, it was super bland. @explorewithdria

The food was fantastic and the drinks were really good. Normally, I love sitting at the bar, talking with the bartender about my spirit preferences, and ordering something off-menu. This time we had a reservation for a table, which was nice, but I missed that bar experience. Still, the staff was warm and attentive, and everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. Overall, a great spot whether you’re dining in or just grabbing a seat at the bar.

We actually came for restaurant week and ended up partaking in happy hour instead....darn, guess we will have to come back! This place is fantastic, from the staff to the ambiance and the food itself. Dennis, our server was polite but funny and gave us great reccs when we were inquiring about some menu items. Overall, we had a blast and will 100% be back! - SpicyAivy

Salt is a slightly hidden speak easy located in right outside of DC. The customer service and atmosphere was great. The food was even better. The cocktail pictured is Matcha My Freak. The appetizers: Calamari, Cauliflower Hummus, and Wagyu Sliders. The Entrees: Crab Cake, Wagyu Burger, and Braised Beef Ribs. Overall a great experience. I will definitely be returning. This establishment is small and quaint, so reservations are highly recommended.

Let me tell you about our experience at Salt. I had dinner at Salt after hearing recommendations from my friends who enjoy dine there. When we came in, we actually went to open road, then a nice host let us know that the door to Salt kind of hidden, you’ll see when you got there ( i liked it tho). We got a nice table and at that time there weren’t many people ate at the dinjng area so we pretty much had the room to ourselves. We started by the drink called Herbal essence (a must!), then appetizers Shrimp and Gnocchi. For the entree we shared crab cake and 7 oz fillet. All were delicious that I couldn’t ordered dessert anyway, i def will comeback and try more of the food and you should too.

Excellent service. Food portions are a little more than tapas, and pretty darn good. Dominant flavor on the truffle fries was oil and not enough salt, but they hit the mark in other dishes. Pretty drinks and a great bar, lots of atmosphere and plenty of little comfortable spots to hang out with friends or on a date. I recommend this spot.

Bartenders and manager are fantastic and fun. I suggest sitting at the bar for the best experience. They had no idea we had a crummy day before walking in and they turned it around. Much appreciated. We were all laughing, and learning and enjoying some excellent cocktail presentations.

Salt salt salt! Wow honestly if I could give you more stars I would. Every aspect was amazing. Who- Oscar served us and there were two other gentlemen there as well. Of course i forgot their names. So sorry What-I had the whiskey sour which was probably one of the best l've had. I swear I tasted some pepper in there. The drink had all the right elements it was so tasty. My husband had the old fashioned which was nice. He thoroughly enjoyed it. But the food I swear my eyes rolled back for my filet. I was wondering why they didn't actually give me a proper steak knife well duh it was so tender you did not need it. If melt in your mouth had a photo that would be it. I got it cooked to the perfect medium rare . Now those sliders.... I don't even eat blue cheese I normally can't stand it. It was the perfect compliment and again since it was filet man was it tender! Oh oh back to my meal you know how you'd usually cut off the tips of the asparagus because they're hard .... They were NOT. SO TENDER AS WELL. I thought about sneaking into the kitchen and kissing the chef When- we did an early Saturday meal with no reservation we were able to sit at the bar. Why-It was date night and I thought let's try something! We will definitely be back. Where- SALT

Enjoyed dinner here with friends. Started off with one of their seasonal drinks - lavender haze. Delicious. We then shared multiple plates - all of which were amazing: meatballs, short ribs, gnocchi, shrimp. The ambiance is nice and the service is fast. For a chill night out, would recommend. Definitely plan to return.

Our go to spot for celebrations over the past couple of years. The food is outstanding and very attentive service. If you're lucky they might have the ingredients for "girls just wanna have pho" cocktail available per request. The best drink I've ever tasted. If Rosslyn is too far, their sister restaurant in Reston Heirloom is just as good. 10/10!!!!

Overall, it was an exceptional first experience at Salt. As soon as you enter, you are enveloped in the ambiance of the establishment, which exudes the perfect cocktail bar atmosphere. I was warmly greeted by the knowledgeable bartenders, Carolina and Miguel. Their extensive knowledge of the menu made them invaluable resources in selecting the perfect beverage. To commence my culinary journey, I opted for the “If You Seek Amy” cocktail, a tribute to Britney Spears’ iconic song. This visually striking drink caught my attention, and its flavors were equally impressive. For my appetizer, I chose the calamari, which arrived crispy and complemented by a delectable aioli sauce. The combination was simply divine, and I made a mental note to order it again on my next visit. The main course I selected was the crab cake, accompanied by asparagus and potatoes. The crab cake’s texture was exceptional, showcasing the skill of the chefs in achieving a perfectly cooked and tender interior while maintaining a savory flavor. The asparagus and potatoes provided a harmonious balance to the crab cake. To conclude my gastronomic experience, I indulged in a shot of Casimigos tequila, which left me feeling rejuvenated and highly impressed with the overall ambiance and culinary offerings at Salt. I eagerly anticipate my return and will enthusiastically recommend Salt to my friends, colleagues, and anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

A nice, cozy, well hidden cocktail bar that I nearly passed. The lighting was perfectly dim with mellow smooth music. Could spend hours here with your S/O or friends and it'll seem like only a few minutes have passed. The service was AMAZING Oscar/Jaguar (the bartenders) gave out drink recommendations that were delicious and with the right amount of alcohol. The other staff worked well together taking care of all the guests. The Savor the Moment cocktail and the Tijuana apothecary were out drinks of choice with the crispy calamari app.

Salt is an incredible speakeasy with a great atmosphere and excellent customer service. Each drink was unique and delicious, the vibes were on point, and the music was spot on. I didn’t get a chance to try the food, so I can’t speak on that - but I’ll definitely be back!

This is the definition of a Speakeasy. Very nice atmosphere that creates a comfortable setting. The drinks are made perfectly. Seriously, the quality of the drinks is amazing. & they pack a punch... especially the Old Fashioned. The food is an added bonus! Not only are the portions large, but it's also delicious. Not too many Speakeasys can say their food matches the quality of drinks. I would recommend Salt for Happy Hour with friends and date nights.

Had a great dining experience this past Wednesday night here! All the food was so delicious, well flavored and nicely presented!! Highly recommend the Duck Confit Steam Buns, Gambas al Ajillo (garlic shrimp), Wagyu Burger and the Chilean Sea Bass! The Truffle Parmesan Fries were good too. Drink wise, I ordered a basic Mojito cocktail—it was sour, could barely taste any rum, didn’t have enough club soda, full of ice and overall just wasn’t that good. The restaurant has speakeasy vibes, and has very dim lighting inside, more of a romantic feel.

I'm not sure how this place is not 5 stars!! The service here is amazing! Damari was awesome and the food recommendations were on point, I'm sure everything in the menu is delicious. Miguel at the bar was also very courteous and helpful. I had the calamari and the wagyu burger and they were both amazing. Perfect place to bring a date. I plan on coming back next week! I wish I could give this place 10 out of 5 stars!

I love this place. Came here for date night for my birthday. The idea of a date night menu is brilliant, especially for the value delivered here at the cost. It’s a really sweet deal for the quality of food. Everything tasted great. The cocktails were insanely good and definitely curated with care. The staff was all in when it came to delivering quality cocktails and a stellar experience. There’s no place like this in the DMV. Will definitely be back.

Really craft cocktails in a romantic, speakeasy-esque vibe, and professional service. Fav drinks: winter Negroni, maple old fashioned (not on the menu, just ask for it -- I think this is just their regular old fashioned), the Karen, and Robert Roy (order it with a tad less scotch than normal unless you like strong smokey flavor). Our waiter (Cesar is awesome) passionate about the creativity of the cocktails and knew them very well. Wonderful date spot. Right off the metro too.

This place is a hidden gem that even non-alcoholic drinkers like myself can't resist. The mocktails here are out-of-this-world fantastic! They've managed to create a drink menu that caters to everyone, whether you're an occasional drinker or prefer to skip the booze. Each drink is a work of art, carefully curated and crafted with precision. Now, let's talk about the food. Don't be fooled by the small menu; it's always a good sign. They put as much thought into the food as they do into the drinks. Every ingredient is meticulously selected and combined to ensure that each bite is a flavor of explosion. It's like a symphony of tastes dancing on your tongue. Just a heads up, though: there's a 2-hour limit per person.

SALT is a speakeasy style joint downstairs from Open Road. The venue is small, dark and intimate with some of the best flavors and service you will ever experience. I discovered this spot on a business trip and immediately made a reservation for a second visit before I left. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a drink or make a reservation for dinner. You won't be disappointed.

Had a fantastic dinner here last night. It's got a speakeasy vibe, there's a door seamlessly blended into the wood wall as you enter the foyer. You descend down a short flight of stairs into a dimly lit but spacious subterranean vault. The food and cocktails were fantastic. They make a good Manhattan and their cocktail of the day (bartenders choice) was superb too. All of the appetizers, entrees and dessert we tried were terrific: the tuna tartare nachos were rich in soy and ginger, the fork and knife Caeser salad was heavy but delicious, the gnocchi was tender and flavorful if maybe needing a touch more salt, the togarashi crusted tuna with nori aioli and udon noodles was a mini masterpiece, the burger was respeldenent with the taste of savory mushrooms, and the creme brulee was a creamy delight and a fitting end to an epic meal. Service was very good, attentive but casual and friendly at the same time.

Glad we selected Salt, truly a legit cocktail bar! Great service, on point with everything. Very knowledgable and pleasant. Delicious cocktails! We marveled at how well balanced and tasty each was. Never was a drink overwhelmingly strong - the alcohols were perfectly complimented in each beverage. Atmosphere is very chill and laidback - the space was full on a Sat night but never felt crowded. Next time we will have to try the food! Look delicious. Will def be back to try more cocktails as well.

Sitting at the bar is the best way to enjoy this adventurous speakeasy bar. What a great atmosphere with super friendly staff. The bartenders put all of their skills on display and add entertainment and flair to the drinks. If you order the right drinks you won’t be disappointed! Pictured is Jennasen making the Toki’n on the Bayou. A smoked cocktail served over an ice globe stamped with the “salt” logo. Oscar was terrific and funny with his many ad lib comments. And don’t forget Ben, busily collecting and cleaning the glasses! We stopped in after a brisk walk from the Clarendon neighborhood where we had had some dinner. Previous reviews led us to the big wooden door and the short flight of stairs down to the dimly lit bar. (there is an elevator too). We didn’t try any food, but it looked amazing. Prices were appropriate for the area and the quality was high and we were pleased. We were there on a Saturday night and it was not too crowded, the vibe was chill, and they do close a little early, but they didn’t rush us out. What a great place to have a drink!

Best cocktails, service and atmosphere I've found in the DMV. Finally, a place that actually serves drinks worth the prices they charge. The server knew the perfect drinks to recommend to me after describing my tastes, he was 3 for 3 on his suggestions. Each drink was beautifully crafted, looking and tasting the very best. Food also didn't disappoint. This place is a must visit. My only complaint was that they were out of the signature Maple Old Fashioned I came there for in the first place. I was very sad, but the other drinks were fantastic do I got over it.

One of our fav cocktail bars in DMV, makes one of the best old fashions. the Wagyu burger is good, but def feel like you'll get a heart attack after finishing the whole thing. The only thing I wouldn't rec is the truffle fries, they always seem to come out soggy. I think it's the oil they use, but we've gotten it a couple of times and it's always the same, very oily and soggy.

My absolute favorite place for after work meetings. The cocktail options are phenomenal and the quality is 10/10. Every time I come i am more impressed with the service and want to shoutout my most recent server (Dennis? I think) as he was so kind and attentive but not overbearing. I HIGHLY recommend the Burger. It is prepared perfectly and so juicy, it’s just worth the calories. Quit Spritzin Around is my go to drink but my friends have enjoyed some of the other items on the menu including the Cat Called Thyme. This is a great place for the local professional looking for something different and convenient. The metro is right around the corner, there are many garages for parking and some light street parking. Georgetown is right over the bridge. Definitely suggest stopping by!

Wow, I love the ambiance of this casual establishment. Located underground, dim lights, speakeasy vibes. Music, food and drinks are AMAZING! Great menu, fast services, small plates, a little overprice but very filling. Staff is very welcoming attentive and friendly, ask for Jamie, she’s the best! We did have difficulties finding the restaurant but it was well worth it! Definitely will return and highly recommend.

Food and drinks are AMAZING! It’s like a speakeasy. The music, vibe, and atmosphere of SALT was welcoming and fun! Finding the restaurant was a little difficult, but look for the big brown door inside of the rotating doors and you’ll be set!

Had no idea this cocktail bar existed down the street from me since 2019, but I had a great time grabbing a quick drink here on my birthday. True to its speakeasy vibe, Salt’s sign isn’t conspicuous on its front door, and you have to enter another door with some stairs to be fully in the bar. My partner and I had a couple of the seasonal drinks: Sunset in Soho and Mo Fi-Ya, which was our favorite of the 2 and came with a bit of a fire show. We also nibbled on the crispy calamari, which is by far the best calamari I’ve had in the DMV. We didn’t make a reservation, and we’re easily able to grab a spot at the bar on a Saturday around 6pm. Staff were super personable and happy to chat if you are talkative like me. Can’t wait to try more of their menu.

It's a great spot, with good food and sometimes-good drinks. That said, their reservation system kinda sucks -- there is NEVER a table open, but when I call they are always happy to give me a reservation. And when we get there, there are always open tables.

My boyfriend and I ate dinner at Salt last night, and I can’t recommend highly enough. Every single item we had was fantastic - the standout for me was the tuna tartare nachos (the tuna MELTED in my mouth) and my boyfriend loved the soy glazed pork belly. The drinks were expertly crafted, and the mains and desserts were phenomenal as well. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a warm, intimate space for a lovely dinner!

Lovely place with great drinks and food and even better service. The Gambas al ajillo, the Tuna tartare and the Glazed pork belly were all very good. But the wagyu burger really takes first place, what a great dish! The cocktails: Jedi mind tricks, Daddy Issues and Salt Margarita were all great.

Server "Roman" was outstanding—attentive, kind, and professional. The food was absolutely delicious, and the music created such a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere. The bar professionalism was above anything I've have ever experienced. While our experience was impacted by a group next to us in a booth that became quite loud after a few drinks the group began playing cards—making it difficult even for our server to hear us—It didn’t feel like the restaurant’s fault, though I do wish a manager had stepped in to gently redirect the group to stop playing cards. They seemed like regulars, so perhaps there was some leniency because they did say, "we come here all the time". That said, I truly look forward to returning. The overall experience was wonderful, and I would absolutely recommend this place to friends. I recommend the fork and knife salad and short rib.

E

Had a blast sitting at the bar and talking with the incredibly creative and attentive bartenders, Demarre and Oscar. Their menu is rotating and all the bartenders collaborate together to create the drink menu. You can tell they love what they do and are so good at it! Amelia the manager is so professional and provides excellent customer service. I will be back for their winter menu soon!

Polished but relaxed spot with a sharp kitchen. The sea bass was outstanding — crisp skin, clean flavors, and plated with real care. Service was attentive without hovering, and the space strikes that rare balance between modern and comfortable. Good wine list, good pacing, and no noise battle to hold a conversation. A place that actually earns its calm.

Visited during Arlington’s 2025 Restaurant Week and had a great experience. The atmosphere was modern and inviting, and service was quick and attentive. We tried the tuna tartare nachos, garlic shrimp, and potato gnocchi to start, each dish was flavorful and well executed. The seabass was flaky and perfectly paired with a sweet squash sauce, the tuna entrée was fresh and distinct from the tartare, and the Wagyu burger was juicy, flavorful, and much larger than expected. Dessert was a strong finish, especially the homemade sorbet, which outshined even the rich chocolate cheesecake and silky panna cotta. Overall, Salt delivers creative dishes with a polished yet comfortable vibe. Highly

Small and intimate setting. Low lighting and great music selection the evening we went. The good R&B if you can imagine. We made reservations and were seated in a timely manner. Service was slow but our waitress was nice. We enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. Portions aren’t big but satisfying to us.

We came here for date night/early dinner after the movies. We order mainly the small plates/appetizers to share and drinks. Will definitely be back to try the main dishes. It’s a little hard to find, no outside sign. It feel like you’re walking into an office building with the revolving door. Street parking along the block available. Good food, good drinks, service was good. Very intimate atmosphere. Make sure you make a reservation, we booked for 5:00pm and by the time we left there was maybe 1-2 tables available.

J
Justin Dahse

The experience was lovely, the atmosphere was dim lit/moody, the staff were attentive but not annoying, the cocktails were fun/delicious, and the food was good. It may not be your first choice, but I recommend the tuna tartare nachos. They were shockingly delicious. I don’t recommend the wagyu meatballs…the texture was a little strange/smooth/pasty and they tasted like meatloaf. Otherwise, everything else was phenomenal.

T
Tasha Fuller

The was service great. The food was good and the ambiance was picturesque but something fell short. It wasn’t quite the experience we expected. Maybe it was drinks, the drink menu was described so eloquently but the drinks themselves totally missed the mark. We ended up asking the bartender to make something that wasn’t on the menu and he did just that and it was excellent.

S
Shalaya C

If you want to eat here book ahead of time! Tables are booked up fast and its limited seating at the bar. The ambiance was really sexy and the service was extraordinary. We sat at the bar and had great conversations with the other folks sitting at the bar. For the food, we absolutely loved the butternut squash gnocchi (I'll be coming back for this and now my colleague dreams of it lol) and truffle fries. My colleague is vegan so she loved all the vegan dishes (mostly sides) she ordered. As for me, I ordered the tuna tartar nachos and the Gambas al Ajillo which were all way to salty for me (I guess that's why this is called SALT lol). The manager and bartenders were all very accommodating though and switched my food out (back to another gnocchi 😋) due to me not being able to enjoy the fish. The lady sitting next to us loved her Wagyu burger as well. Overall a great experience and when I'm in the area I'm coming back for my butternut squash gnocchi lol.

Feeling Salty after my experience at Salt. What was meant to be a sweet experience turn sour after dealing restaurant staff. It started when I called 2 hrs ahead to change my reservation from 5 to 4 people and to let them know I was running 10 mins late. The hostess on the phone had a dismissive attitude and made comments about us needing to alter our reservation. Even after the rude interaction on the phone we still looked forward to our reservation. We arrived 15 mins after our reservation started. While I was parking my friends went in and they informed me the hostess displayed a micro aggressive attitude. We figured maybe she was just having a bad day and try not to let it ruin the night. However our server Ricky was hands down the rudest server I have ever encountered. He rolled his eyes at us and spoke sarcastically to us when we asked simple questions about the menu. The only thing that saved the night was the delicious food. The night was ruined and left a bad taste in not only my mouth but also my friends from out of town.

Chrystan Wilson

I had a great time here. The host was rude some reason however the waitress made up for the hostess nasty attitude. The cocktails are rather small but that’s to be expected and a bit pricey. The food was great also rather small but I was definitely full. I will be coming back!!! The atmosphere was so relaxing after a long day at work. Music was also great.

This place is awesome. The food is delicious. Please get the Wauburger, truffle fries, tuna Nachos, and Calamari. You won't be disappointed. Our waiter J was so attentive, personalable, and great. My experience was amazing! Nice vibe and food. Drinks were so good. I love the secret door entrance.

M
María Marshall

Love the entrance into the restaurant. My first thought is that I'm walking into an exclusive speakeasy. The room is not brightly lit to provide guests with intimacy or offer anonymity. The drinks are AMAZING! The bees' knees and the tijuana apocathy were perfection. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the gambas! The ambiance is very nice. However, the music selection needs to change to reflect the mood of the place. The fast BPM techno music takes away from the ambiance. I recommend Sabrina Claudio or more mellow music.

C
Cynthia M

Been here for drinks once and recently went again for food and drinks. I REALLY love the drinks here. I think they are creative and done extremely well. I also had the Wagyu burger this recent visit and it was delicious—I would get that again whenever I’m craving a nice, juicy burger. The only reason I deducted a star is because unfortunately some others in my party didn’t enjoy their food so I think you might have to stick with drinks, Wagyu burger, and maybe a select few other dishes there. Very good service and I love the speakeasy ambiance there. Will definitely be back!

S
Sabrina Hayes

I am extremely disappointed with my order. The quality and portion size were completely unacceptable. I ordered the fish, and what I received was a tiny cube that looked nothing like what is shown in all the photos or what other customers received. It appeared as if they may have ran out of fish and tried to pass off a scrap as a full order. This is not acceptable, my drink was water down. This place is not good quality anymore. The picture looks a little bigger but just to give you precise measurement it was inch both ways. I won’t be going back there are so many others speak easy restaurants in DC that’s great.
