My family had a reunion at the Quarterdeck because my deceased Grandma loved eating there. We had about 30 people, including a few children. We were pleasantly surprised how quickly we were served our drinks, salads, soups, and entrees, mostly from just one waitress. The manager came over to thank my cousin for making the reservation and thank us all for dining there. It was a wonderful family gathering.

Went to this restaurant with my husband while on vacation. We got seated right away close to the beautiful fish tank. For appetizers we ordered clam chowder and the sweet and spicy calamari. Both were very delicious and we could tell the calamari was fresh. I ordered prawn tacos and my husband ordered fish and chips. I was full from appetizers so had to take my entree home and so did my husband. The sauce on the tacos is heavenly. Everything was delicious and our server was attentive. We would definitely go back even if just for the calamari.

ORIGINAL: Our visit at The Quarterdeck this time was disappointing. My daughter's kids meal only came with one piece of shrimp and one piece of fish. Waters we're not refilled. And my wife's berry tiramisu was frozen. She had to use a fork to break of pieces, tiramisu is supposed to be light, fluffy and delicate.

Variety of comfort food. They got it all, seafood, sandwiches, tacos, salads, soups, burgers, fried chicken and drinks and more. And it's all delicious and reasonably priced. Avoid the tourist traps, and get a bargain lunch or dinner here. Service is great. Lots of tables, big families shouldn't be a problem. Good location, just off the 101 freeway. You are also next to a Starbucks and a Grocery. Plenty of parking. Stop by for a quick bite, or if you can't decide where to have lunch or dinner.

Food is good and you get a lot for the price. Service was OK, friendly but not very attentive today. My water and lemon for fish was forgotten, the water was eventually brought but when we were pretty much done eating. Plates were cleared quickly but one plate was cleared while still eating from it. Drinks are inconsistent..sometimes really good, even if on the weak side, and other times, like today, they were overly sweet. I do like coming here though, its enjoyable.

The Quaterdeck surprised me because for some reason I was skeptical. Their claim chowder was delicious, hot and yummy. The staff was super friendly, attentive and observed covid precautions. Within walking distance to the hotel and worth a try. They have a bigenu and a full bar. The shipwreck dessert looks decadent, but dinner filled me up! A nice place and great food.

Recommended by the mechanic, that repaired the jeep and got the Lobster Man & Cheese, Oyster & Chips and Squid & Salad. Save your money and forget the Lobster Mac & Cheese but everything else was excellent. The oysters were delicious and huge and the squid was fried just right.

Cheap fried fish for grillet filet prices in a cliche coastal-themed restaraunt lacking any remarkable features, products, or service. It ain't bad, but it's not good.

Also, we were COLD at our table, and even "FROZEN OUT" using the Restroom! ...I can understand their need to keep their Seafood on ice, but their customers?!!

She didn't deserve it at all. People were ignored, food was expedited poorly, and drinks were easier and faster to get by just walking up to the bar. What a horrible finish to our memorial service. There won't be a next time, and I will not be recommending this place to anyone. In any other circumstance, we would have just walked out and went someplace else because the service was, in fact, that terrible.

We decided to try The Quarterdeck Seafood Bar & Grill in Arroyo Grande during our recent Pismo trip. Our decision was based off of the good reviews. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with the food. The service was fine, but the food was mediocre. We started off with an order of "Sweet & Spicy Calamari". The dish was prepared with crispy tubes and tentacles with a sweet-spicy glaze. The menu states that the calamari is "tossed" in the sweet-spicy sauce, but our experience was that while the top layer of the dish was tossed in the glaze, the bottom layer was drenched in the glaze. We couldn't finish the dish due to the heaviness of the sauce which made the rest of the calamari soggy and unappetizing. As we weren't looking for a big meal, my wife ordered a simple salad and I ordered a cup of clam chowder. The chowder was good, but a bit thick and on the chunky side. It may be that our experience was not indicative of the quality of food at The Quarterdeck, I'm just not sure.

6/30/22 Fried Chicken was good, lumpy mashed potatoes were great!  Biscuit hard as a rock. Mac cheese and baked potato was good, portions were small.  Fish and Chicken tenders were good.  Everything was overcooked, and they failed to include tartar and bbq sauce in order. 3 years ago, Thursday take out late lunch $42, ordered 5 piece fish and chips but only got 3 pieces of fish 🤨, tasted good though. Cup of clam chowder was very good, was told made in house. Hubby's cheeseburger was fine, his side of mac and cheese tasted good but expensive for what you got. Employees were polite and helpful. Rate 3 stars for being shorted on fish. If I go to a fast food, I know to check the item count in the bag....but I shouldn't have to do this for a restaurant.

Ive been here dozens of times over the last 10 years and have been very happy with their food and service. However I ordered the fish and chips for pick up and was sorely disappointed. The fish was tough and the ends of the pieces were more or less inedible and the fries had almost no salt on them. I drove less than 10 minutes back to my house to eat but the food was still hot when I got home, so its not due to waiting too long. Gonna think twice about going back because for 15 bucks I ate less than half of the food.

Service was good, but I won't be going back. For the price there's definitely better options.

The food was good and portions were plentiful. However, the service was less than good. We never saw our waitress except for taking our order, bringing us our order and bringing our check when she noticed we were done with our meal. The waitress never came to our table to ask if we needed anything while we were dining.

Everything was pricey. You order a plate of something and you had to order sides to go with your meal. Not great to have to pay extra to have a side of fries with your meal. When it should come with it. I ordered fish tacos and I had to order side of fries. They cost $8. Crazy our total bill was $94 for 4 people during lunch time. Not cool.

I don't know what happened to this restaurant. But I recently ordered fish-and-chips to go, clam strips with fries and a cup of chowder. When I got home everything was soggy. The fries were soft and oily. The pieces of fish were very small and the clam chowder was watered down. It wasn't thick like it usually was? Its a shame because i've been going to this restaurant for over 30 years. I don't know if they are cutting corners on food or what. Usually when restaurants start doing those things they won't last long.

Place hasn't been renovated since 1986. Restaurant smelled like a restroom as you walk through the door. Clams in the clam chowder weren't rinsed properly and chowder had a strange aftertaste. Tried out the quarter deck today. I looked at the reviews. Good reviews. Had to try. The fish and chips were bad. I opted out of chips and got clam chowder. Clam chowder not good. I want fresh fish if I go to a fish house. Most of it was fried from frozen. My wife asked for pepper jack cheese on her veggie burger and they gave her Kraft cheddar cheese. Ranch dressing tasted like mayonnaise. Veggie burger was slimmy and no taste. I have more to say but I cant complain anymore. I want this place to do good. Please step it up.

The restaurant itself is cute but the food is just ok. Idk what they think fajita style chicken is but no. Clam chowder is meh. But the most insane part of this experience is the wait staff. She first made me feel uncomfortable asking for the prawns to not be on the nachos. Then put someone else's water on our table, came back 5 minutes later took the water off our table and gave it to the table behind us. She had no way of knowing if we had drank out of it. Then when she came to give us the check she took my partners plate that he was still eating. Actively had a mouth full and was leaned over his plate. We were both dumbfounded and decided to just not order dessert and get the heck out of there.

I was hoping in this part of California where there is abundant fresh fish that would be what would be served here. No, it was frozen cod with a crust that was just like you get in the grocery frozen food section . This was my first and last visit. I was disappointed, especially given the cost, to be served old, cold coleslaw. The fish and chips were also underwhelming—the fish portions looked more like fish stick size than a proper entrée. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations for the price.

What happened to The Quarterdeck? The food is not the same at all! We ordered take out for a birthday celebration for my elderly Mom and we all ordered our favorite dish that we used to get from them and were shocked when we opened our food containers to see what was inside. Both my husband and my brother ordered the Fish Tacos which say they come with rice and beans then to be disappointed that half your meal is missing is completely frustrating. I ordered the grilled salmon dinner on the Lite menu and thankfully I read the description that said it didn't come with a potato but in the picture it shows a potato. The salmon was the worst I have ever had, cold and dry probably because it was frozen and they overcooked it. Thankfully it came with clam chowder so I could choke down my salmon. My Mom got fish and chips and that was dry as well, the breading was different than what was on the fish in the fish tacos. It was hard for her to eat and made for a disappointing birthday dinner. We will never be back.
