10/13/2025: I ordered the Blackened Salmon with Broccoli and a Baked Potato. The cook clearly cares about presentation as my food was beautifully arranged on my plate. For me, however, that's secondary to taste... Luckily for me, it tasted even better than it looked! The seasonings provided a deep, rich flavor and the sear was perfect! Like wise, the potato's skin was crispy with a fluffy interior. It was exactly what I want when I order a baked potato. Even the broccoli impressed! I don't normally do desserts because of my diabetes, but with how good the dinner was I wanted to indulge and see if their desserts were as good as the main dish. I asked about their seasonal cheesecake and was informed that it was pumpkin. I had to try it and it was amazing! The crust was wonderfully crisp and the filling was creamy and rich. This will likely be the only cake I eat for the remainder of the year and it was worth every bite. The ambiance of Black Bear Diner is part of the reason to go. It has to be experienced. The bear carvings, paintings and, in the case of this location, the beautiful mountain views you get by just looking out the window... Wow! My server was a woman named Trish. She was VERY friendly, professional and courteous. Even if the rest of the restaurant hadn't impressed me, she would have. She is what other employees in her role should aspire to be. I hope her employer recognizes her hard work. It was hard to find anything to criticize about this location. The only thing I could find was that the mirrors in the Men's Restroom were dirty. It's a minor criticism and if I wasn't writing this review, I probably wouldn't have paid attention to it. I will DEFINITELY be back, hopefully soon. I highly recommend this location.

A good stop , if you are driving North or South of 99 California. All day Breakfast Lunch and Diner all day. Busy during lunch time. Nice customer service and there are been there for more than 30 years. you can also buy some Black bear souvenir. 🐻 You have make that stop on 99. The Best!!!!!Thanks Also to Ashley for providing a good customer service, You Rock!!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Breakfast Stop on the Way from Orange county to Sequoia! We stopped at Black Bear Diner for breakfast on our way from Orange county to Sequoia National Park, and it was a fantastic experience! The place was clean and cozy, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast was delicious and very generous in portion — honestly, one plate was big enough to share between two people! Everything was fresh, well-cooked, and satisfying. What made our visit even better was the kind and cheerful staff member who served us. She was so friendly, helpful, and attentive — it really made a difference and added to the overall positive experience. If you're traveling through the area, I highly recommend stopping at Black Bear Diner. It’s the perfect spot to fuel up before a day of exploring nature! 🐻🍳☕

Great environment! Decided to come here last minute as I was driving down the 5 freeway. I’ve never been inside a black bear diner and was presently surprised at how great the environment felt. The staff were really courteous and nice, Maggie promptly greeted me even while she was busy with other people. She was kind in answering questions about the menu and checked in at the appropriate times. Ismael also took the time to ask about my day and it felt like speaking to a friend! I hope to come by again next time I’m in the area.

Cool spot for a truck stop! Everything I enjoyed fully. Ordered a side salad, bowl of chilli and onion rings. The onion rings were not homemade, they were still good with their bacon ranch dressing! The staff was friendly and helpful.... It's was not very busy. After a long day in the LA area that was refreshing!

I loved the place and food, I hated the flies that sat with me during my entire visit in the window. My server basically said it’s nothing that could be done. I didn’t have to swat them away a lot but to have more than 2 directly next to your food was scary. I think closing the blinds and placing some type of fan at the door to keep them from coming in would help this situation. The food was great and so was the lemonade.

First time trying out this place, upon arriving we were greeted and told there was a ten minute wait since we were a big group. After we got seated, our waiter took our drinks order. We took about ten minutes looking over the menu, he came back to take our food orders, at this point our whole side of the dining room was basically empty. Our food took way longer to come out than it should of, to the point where our waiter offered us free corn bread. Unfortunately he only brought us enough for half of our group. When our food finally came out, my Caesar salad was warm, the lettuce was soft and wilted. My friends fried chicken was still frozen from the inside. On top of that, a big cockroach was running across our table and over some of our others friends utensils. We smashed the roach and made our waiter aware of the cold food and the roach. You could tell he was embarrassed, and proceeded to offer us free desserts after our meals. Which was not our intention when we brought up the issues. Overall, the food was very disappointing, not just my warm salad, but half of our group said their food was lacking flavor. The service from our waiter was great though, he was attentive and on top of it.

The food was good nice and fresh we had steak and a slice of carrot cake for dessert. The waitress however was very off putting. She was in a mood the whole time she served us. However we noticed she spoke very sweetly to other customers around us. The atmosphere was classic diner. Juke box was playing and people were eating. We were in and out on a quick road trip. The waitress' service earned it a n overall three if the service was better I would have given it a 4.5.

Fast service, unfortunately, they need to check their consistency on the food and presentation. we got 3 dishes, exactly the same. All steaks were supposed to be medium well. We received one well done, rare,and only one medium well. The presentation on all 3 was different. I wish I would have taken a picture of all 3. The vegetables on all plates also looked different either to cooked or raw. The waitresses and staff were nice. I would have understood if they were busy, but the time I went wasn't.

The restaurant is nice and has easy parking. The food was generally good, and the milkshake was amazing. However, I was disappointed with my experience. I ordered poached eggs, but they served me scrambled eggs instead. We were a group of five, and my incorrect dish arrived last. I didn’t ask for a replacement because I didn’t want to wait even longer, but that’s not how things should be handled. On the bright side, the waitress was super friendly, and the vibe was so American and welcoming that I almost expected a cowboy to walk in!
