So many places serve pastries but they taste the same. Which is fine, but here they taste truly made in house, and theyre incredible. One of a kind, and the atmosphere is amazing too.
The best croissants and coffee shop in Queens, hands down. Been coming here since they opened and I’ve never been disappointed. Whether it is a sweet bun, or a savory breakfast scone I always leave satisfied. Plus, who doesn’t love to be reminded of how great LOTR is.
The croissants are excellent. Flaky but soft in the middle. Best I ever had. Coffee is also very good.
Don't let Gandalf's scowling face discourage you! This pastry cafe is a MUST GO. We tried a little of everything, but my personal favorite (so far), was the pizza croissant. I've had A LOT of pastry in my time (my son went to the Culinary Institute and he's a pastry fanatic), but I swear to you, Elevenses' croissants are AMAZING. The pizza croissant had a little heat, a little tomato and a little cheese but BIG FLAVOR. I know it's annoying when someone capitalizes stuff for emphasis and I have never done it before so you can imagine, I'm not messing around. If you love flavor, freshness, an attention to every detail in every bite, you must try this place. It's a little out of the way, but honestly, it's a reason to come to Astoria. Manon, move over, Elevenses pastry has taken the prize. BTW, just found out Georgia's landlord is being a brute and Elevenses will soon close. SAVE ELEVENSES!!!! I don't know what to do, but the thought of losing this treasure of pastry delights hurts my heart. If you have a special occasion coming up, give her a call and order as much as possible soon. Long Live Elevenses!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALONG WITH RICH COFFEE CAKE on counter DISPLAY (CUT/WRAP ) Drip coffee, aha, medium roast, which makes me wake up with a bold finish. And a cake slice wrapped and displayed on the counter... I most recommend trying it along with coffee it's like God said go treat your soul something bold and sweet ... thank you to Maria for making me comfortable and handing over water for my husky boy! I love it & every penny was worth it. 🍰☕️🐕💯❤️💙
Small cafe with amazing housemade pastries. Nice for a short visit! Chill and quiet vibes. Matcha coconut was an interesting drink. It was on the sweet side but a great choice for a hot day. 🍫🥐✨Chocolate croissant was a WOWOW! The sugar on the too was a plus plus plus. The croissant itself was crispy with a soft texture. I hope they have more sweet croissants in the future.
Elevenses is our favorite stop during our morning walks with our dog. We absolutely love how Georgia puts so much care into sourcing fresh, local ingredients and creating delicious pastries. She's so thoughtful and creative, always surprising us with new flavors in her perfectly baked treats. This is also one of the best places to get coffee in Astoria. They really take their beans and milk selections seriously, which makes all the difference. We’re truly so grateful to have Elevenses in our neighborhood!
Stayed for a cup of mocha that was delicately divine, served in a beautiful ceramic mug. Also ordered a delicious almond croissant that would have filled even a hobbit’s belly. The staff was friendly, cared about serving a premium product and created a homey environment. The decor is whimsically lovely, and there are books and games available. A true neighborhood gem and worth a trip for breakfast, second breakfast, and more!
Good coffee, pastries and a chill environment easy to work in. The coffee has seating for a dozen or so people. A small counter with plenty of outlets, couches and chair. There are a few small tables outside. The pastry selection was small but good. Coffee quality was good and staff were friendly.
Consistent amazing quality, wonderful variety of seasonal drinks and pastries. Everything is made fresh and I love this place so much! The vibes are top tier! I always love to drop by when I come home to Astoria!!! ❤️🔥🫂❤️😎🎉 (pictured below: iced matcha latte, lemon danish, savory croissant and hot latte)
We were looking for a decent coffee and pastries nearby Astoria after lunch on Saturday and came across this place on GMaps. It's legit. Good coffee (we got a double Expresso and a Mocha). The pastries are really the highlight. I wanted to get a Cardamom Bun, but they were out. Had the Pain au Chocolat which was reeeeeeealy good. I'm not sure if I would get out of my way to get a coffee and a pastry, but will visit fur sure next time I'm in the area
Such a cool and cozy little coffee shop! I got an iced latte with oat milk to go and it was delicious. Even better was the price for the size, one of the better deals on coffee in the area. Will definitely be coming back to work and try some of their pastries. Went back today and tried their pumpkin spiced latte with it milk and it was perfect! Not overly sweet and used fresh ingredients.
We walked from Lenox hill in Manhattan which took about 80 minutes. The Ed Koch Queensboro bridge was noisy but afforded beautiful views of the city and Roosevelt Island. We arrived late but still found delicious coffee and a few croissants that hadn’t been gobbled up by the previous hobbittses. The pastry and coffee might be the best I’ve had in the city! Aragorn: Gentlemen, we do not stop till nightfall. Pippin: What about breakfast? Merry: You’ve already had it. Pippin: We’ve had one, yes. What about second breakfast? Merry: Don’t think he knows about second breakfast, Pip. Pippin: What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn’t he? Merry: I wouldn’t count on it.
My iced dirty chai was honestly not the best but I tried my friend’s cold brew with foam and that was fantastic. My friend also ordered a croissant but the staff didn’t offer to warm it up. It was a bit busy when we went and a computer system was having issues, which could explain the lack of attention, but I feel like the experience overall fell a little flat. Not opposed to trying again in the future. The vibe inside is very cozy and I like the decor
Update. Oct 25. Lowered to satisfactory. The large size is not large. By any sense of the word. Look at the pic. They know this is not the customary size for any of the other local coffee shops. Advertisement on the coffee cup vs company branding is kinda tacky. Especially because they are pushing the hobbit theme. Why give in to commercializing and selling ad space on their cups when you want to stand out as a brand. Service is kinda slow. Surprising it is busy. Sorry. But there are other local coffee shops I would prefer. Glad we found this spot. Large mocha latte w extra shot. They say they make their own chocholate syrup. It taste like it. Cool art work. Lord of the rings theme.
My brother got a cold brew with some added ingredients: 5 out 10. I got the pumpkin spiced ice latte: 6/10 Idk, something really lacked in depth? Coffee flavors were very underwhelming. The cookie and cheese croissant was 8/10 though. Really flavourful, crispy and chewy! I've seen pictures that they serve sandwiches but when we went in, there were no signs or menus besides the few pastries they had out on display. Since it was our first time there and there were a few people in line, I didn't want to take up time and ask about items that weren't on their display menus. Kind of disappointed, maybe we will go back and try again and ask them. Overall, experience was 6/10, there wasn't much sitting space since I guess one person wants to sit right in the middle of the biggest couch there. Haha.
can whoever’s in charge here make sure they have tops for hot drinks :/ they sent me out with a topless matcha and it spilled on a new hardcover and now i feel like the owner owes me forty dollars. on valentine’s day morning, no less. just wanted a nice morning 😭
Great coffee but some of the most miserable people work here. If you do not enjoy your job, please just apply for a less customer facing one. Truly sad because the coffee and idea is great. Hopefully they can hire people who are actually happy to be there and enjoy their job.
If you're a person of color, please avoid this place unless you want to spend your money at a place that makes you feel belittled and less like a person. This place had been on my bucket list for a while, and I finally went. I originally intended to get a regular iced latte, but then the cashier/owner started recommending their Fireside Lattee, saying that you can't get it anywhere else. It's literally a latte with marshmallows on top, but I asked and told her I don't like drinks with fruit or hazelnut syrups as they taste medicinal to me and she said that's okay. She confirmed that they don't put any of the flavors I don't like, but when I got my drink, I was surprised to find strawberry-flavored marshmallows. I went up, apologized, and explained that the drink tasted off to me and asked if I could get a different drink. The owner looked like she wanted to murder me and said no refunds and I have to pay for the new drink. I said okay, I completely understand, and ended up paying over $25 for a simple coffee trip. The new drink was a mediocre latte at best, but what was worse was how they made me feel the rest of my time at the shop as if I committed a crime or asked them for a liver. The real irony of the situation was that there was a white woman on the couch next to me, who had her glass on the couch with her. A small caveat, both times I was given the drinks to go, while the other white people were given their drinks to stay. Now, back to this woman, her glass was already empty, but it looked like it was going to fall, and it did. But what was surprising when it did, the owner and the barista rushed over, apologized to her, and even offered her a new drink. You know, at this point, the whole situation is funny because it seems that the owner has a disease called racism. At that point, I just chose to leave and I hope other people can take this advice to avoid this place that likes to take POC money, but still thinks they can treat them less than human.
