I recently dined at Huckleberry Restaurant in Atascadero, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the delightful Cajun atmosphere, complete with a funny alligator mascot that added a charming touch to the decor. The menu is fantastic, offering a wide variety of mouth-watering options. I couldn't resist trying the chicken and waffles, and it did not disappoint! The crispy, golden chicken paired perfectly with the fluffy, slightly sweet waffles. My coworker ordered the over easy eggs, which were cooked to perfection, and the chicken fried steak, which was incredibly tender and flavorful. The servers were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed and providing excellent recommendations. The coffee was robust and smooth, the perfect accompaniment to our meal. And don't even get me started on the huckleberry muffins—these little treats were a highlight, bursting with fresh huckleberry flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, Huckleberry Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. From the fun, welcoming atmosphere to the delicious food and stellar service, it's a must-visit spot in Atascadero. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their amazing menu!
Very casual and fun! Yummy food with original flavor mixes. It was hard to believe this is a chain restaurant. We loved the chicken waffle stack...although, not sure of the calorie count of that order!
Serving size was impressive. This was their special skillet. Pretty interesting had alot of shrimp in it. The staff here is very nice, upbeat. I met the manager Victoria and she is an amazing asset to their company/this business. The quality of service and food here is a reflection of good leadership. I highly reccomend it.
We ate breakfast, and the service was amazing. Jared was our server. He was very attentive, very knowledgeable and just overall a nice gentleman. The manager came over to ask how we were doing which I thought was very nice everyone there seem to be having a great time and we will definitely be back, that food was so much more than I can eat and was absolutely delicious. Thank you so much for being in Atascadero.
Many tempting menu options. I liked the omelet and skillets. Be sure to get the appetizer pastry with real fruit jams.
My kiddos and I, had breakfast there this morning. Appetizer - Fried green tomatoes, breakfast- Waffle combo with a Southern peach tea. All was great! April and Isiah were very attentive, great attitudes and, quick service by both. I look forward to trying a lunch item next time.
Huckleberry's in Atascadero is a delightful gem that caters wonderfully to both breakfast and lunch enthusiasts. Nestled in a cozy corner, this place exudes a charming ambiance that immediately sets the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Upon entering, the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon instantly whets the appetite. The rustic yet modern decor adds a touch of warmth, making it an ideal spot to start your day or enjoy a leisurely afternoon meal. Now, let's talk about the food – an absolute delight! The breakfast menu boasts a wide array of delectable options, from classic favorites like fluffy pancakes and perfectly cooked eggs to more innovative dishes that infuse local flavors. The avocado toast is a standout, topped with ripe avocados sourced from nearby farms and sprinkled with a zesty seasoning that elevates the taste to perfection. During lunchtime, the menu transitions seamlessly, offering a diverse selection to cater to various tastes and cravings. Sandwich aficionados will find themselves in paradise with the mouthwatering selections available. The turkey club sandwich, with its layers of fresh ingredients, is a must-try, and the salads are incredibly fresh and generously portioned. What truly sets Huckleberry's apart, though, is their exceptional service. Alice, our waiter, deserves special mention for her attentive and friendly demeanor. Her knowledge of the menu, coupled with genuine warmth, made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. The overall ambiance, delicious food, and outstanding service make Huckleberry's a top recommendation for anyone visiting Atascadero. Whether you're a local seeking a regular spot or a traveler passing through, this place is an absolute gem that promises a memorable dining experience.
First time eating here, very good and a lot of food.
I went there yesterday and had chili and salad with a side of fried okra! Boy it was so good. The servers were the best. Very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back.
I've been to several of the restaurants on my travels. Always can get a great meal here. Something about Cajun taste that I love. Watch out for the breakfast skillets....lots of food but so good.
Great atmosphere, delicious food and fantastic service. I had chicken and waffles with huckleberries on top and this was the best breakfast I've had in a good while. The wait staff was very friendly, everyone checked on us multiple times not just the waitress that took our order. I wish more restaurants were as friendly and inviting as this, I will definitely be coming here again.
I’ve eaten it several huckleberries and I have to say, that I enjoyed the experience at this one. The staff was very efficient and polite. As soon as we are seated, we were asked for our drink order followed by our food order. The food order came in relatively QuickTime. My order was cooked as as expected. The weight just followed up several times asked us if you would like coffee refills or anything else she could do. Next time I’m in the area I will certainly dine in if this huckleberries.
First time visiting. Love the menu choices. My wife had the crab cake eggs Benedict and it was so good. I had a scramble and would recommend it. Second time back and we decided on lunch. Our service was so good and on point. I got the Franks Spicy Chicken sandwich which had coleslaw on top and side of fries. My wife got the catfish on rice and came with a bowl of gumbo and bread. I 100% recommend the chicken sandwich.
Been here several times now and now and every meal was very good. Ya the fried chicken was a little bit dry. Our waitress Phoebe went out of her way to make our first experience Very memorable. My wife had the Crab Benedict and she couldn't stop saying how much she enjoyed it. I had the scrambled eggs and chicken fried steak on the fresh biscuit with the Cajun Reds potatoes. I've tried and enjoyed the Cajun Benedict also. Keep up the good work...
Amazing service Amazing food Has a great New Orleans Bayou vibe. The New Orleans platter was delicious and a little bit of the Cajun hot sauce made it even better! The bananas foster crepes with a side of 2 eggs was amazing. The fried green tomato OMG. Next time a full plate of those. Better than fried zucchini anyway! The expresso and iced Caramel macchiota was perfect. And the Huckleberry muffin with butter was the perfect end to an awesome meal! Thank you!
What a surprise to find this Cajun themed restaurant. Nice, lively atmosphere with a super friendly staff. I ordered all you can eat salad and chili or jambalia. I chose the jambalia. It was deliciously filled with sausage, chicken and okra. With a crisp mixed green salad one portion was more than enough for me. Seconds? Maybe next time. My wife decided on a Monte. Cristo sandwhich with sweet potatoe fries. She loved it. Great job guys! We will return soon.
The staff is friendly and attentive; right away the server jumped into conversation with us about how we came in; we started talking about our favorite entrees that went all tried and which ones we were excited to try this time. Their staff checked in regularly, made sure drinks were topped and helped is checkout to be on our way amidst all the bustle. The food arrived quickly at our table, was delicious, hot and filling. We'll be stopping by regularly to enjoy a good meal and conversation. Looking forward to more future visits.
Thee food, Service, and ambiance was wonderful! Is like a little slice of Southern heaven here California.. Portions are great and so is the pricing. They also recognize their Military service members! Which is a huge plus in my book! Oh my sweet baby Jesus!! I've died and gone to Hillbilly Heaven! Their food is so flipping delicious make you slap yo Grandma,Mama, and Auntie! We got the Mardi Gras beignets, Fried greed tomatoes, and the Stacked Chicken and waffles! Oh and you've got to try the swamp tea with huckleberry's !!!! All the different flavors is like a huge explosion in your mouth! We liked it so much we went back a 2nd time for their lunch menu. We had the Dixieland steak melt and shrimp po-boy and was equally impressed! Our server Sarah both times! She was wonderful and down to Earth! We shared travel/food experience and compared their beignets to Café Du monde in Louisiana. Huckleberry's wins hands down! If you haven't gone you must go NOW! @ Huckleberry's
What a great experience. We went there for lunch Sunday in Atascadero. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They’ve bent over backwards to make sure that we were really happy. The service was fast. The food was delicious. I ate the waffles with chicken. I also had a bloody Mary everything was delicious.
We had a great breakfast at Huckleberry this morning. The portions are big but very tasty! The staff were all very nice and quite personable! I’d highly suggest having breakfast here. Also, as a non-hot sauce eater I had to buy a bottle of this hot sauce. It’s incredibly good!
Finally had to stop in and try this, it's been very much anticipated! I will say the atmosphere of Cajun music and alligators decor and the "bayou" vibe is so fun! This will probably be my new fav diner. (And I am a sucker for a good diner especially a themed one!) I had the California Benedict (poached eggs, fried green tomatoes, avocado and hollandaise) and the flavors were wonderful and so refreshing. Their huckleberry mimosas are very tasty. They do not have a full bar (fyi) Members of my party loved the chicken and waffles and the chicken tenders served with the waffles were nice and peppery. This is a high paced environment. Staff is very friendly. Took a little time to get our drinks but it was very busy so I won't ding them for it. If you like a little pizazz to your breakfast the flavors provided here are very rich. Their hollandaise was wonderful. You guys should play some Lisa Haley and the Zydacats in here too! Some fun Cajun music. Will come back again and again! Was able to feed three adults and one child for $62 and in this economy that's a bargain! Great prices with great food. Thanks for coming to Atascadero, we hope you stay for the long haul! This place is just my vibe! ☺️🐊got my dose of zydecosis
My boyfriend and I went for the first time today, we had a great experience! Loved the Breakfast and had great service! We will definitely come back again!!
Restarunt was busy. But I didn't have to wait. Service was fast, food was good. I got stuffed French toast with huckleberry fruit topping. My mom got chicken and waffles for the first time and really liked it. The food was awesome. I also got huckleberry lemonade in a sugar rimmed Mason jar that was tasty. It wasn't too loud. Over all great. Will come back in the future.
Kori our waitress was amazing!! The Only waitress on the floor and she ran the place with a smile. She even ran the cash register! Definitely recommend this place.

This is the restaurant for me, Breakfast served all day. And the lunch menu is just as awesome. American Deep South Food. Fried okra and catfish, Classic burgers w/sweet potato fries. Fried green tomatoes and Gumbo. Ribeye, eggs, and potatoes. The food is top notch along with the customer service that goes well above the call of duty. This is just a really nice place to eat.
Huckleberry's is my go-to spot for breakfast or brunch when given the opportunity. The food is awesome. The service is professional, fast, and friendly. My parents always bug me to go here when they visit from out of town. Two thumbs up!

Pastry appetizer with fruit was really good. Chicken and waffle special was great! Breakfast skillet was great! Strawberry lemonade and Carmel iced coffee were good. However it did take about 35 to 45 mins to get food, and it wasn't that busy. Just don't go if you're in a hurry.
Was married into a Louisiana family for 20+ years, missed the cuisine. The might not be 100%, but it was absolutely nothing to complain about! Tasted great and very close to how I remember it. Seating a bit tight and inflexible, but not uncomfortable. Can't wait to go back!
Ordered a Cajun eggs Benedict and had a party of four, got it about 30+ minutes after they found the order and still they screwed up brought me a totally different plate then the right one wrong side. Also ordered a bowl of jambalaya and got a saucer. They did comp for their mess up but still that was crazy. Food was delicious and atmosphere was great
Stopped at Hucks for early lunch. Place was clean, service was awesome. I had an omelet with shrimp, wife had a big salad, both were delicious. We will be stopping at Hucks on our road trips for sure
Excellent server, very friendly and attentive. Casual, Cajun atmosphere. The food was ok. The burger was good, but the sauce had a bit of seasoning to it that I wasn't crazy about. Sweet potato fries were good and not greasy.
First time in here, the servers were perfect and the croc added to the atmosphere. Food was tasty overall; I got the big beignets, which weren't anything like French beignets... they were lukewarm and sort of soft, drowned in too much sugary jam.

It was an old Denny's and it's nice inside now. They did a great job. The service was good the crab cakes were nice. The potatoes were great! The price wasn't bad for 2025. $43 with tip for two, only water to drink.

We have been to other huckleberry locations and this one was not that great compared to other locations. I ordered the salad, the chicken was very dry. There was hair inside the menu cover and the wrapped silverware was filthy covered in what appeared to be chocolate. Customer service was good.
We were very disappointed in out first visit. Asked for water, it never came. No coffee refill until we asked another waitress. It wasn't busy, no customers at counter yet our waitress spent her time there. Sourdough toast was very gummy. .Oh well, now we know.
If you like mostly fried foods, lots of sweet dishes and drinks, this might be your kind of place. Very little fresh options or salads for my diabetic restrictions. No real cream for the coffee. Decor makes it look a little better than the old Denny's. Probably won't be back.
Spoiler: I found a hair in my food I’ve come to Huckleberries a few times and I’ve come to the conclusion, it’s a hit or miss spot! My partner and I came in for lunch today and the service was mediocre at best. We were sat quickly, but after they took our drinks, the service went downhill. They forgot one of our drinks and as the meal went on I noticed who I thought was our server helping numerous other tables. I’m a server myself so I gave him the benefit of the doubt, until another server came up seeming very surprised to have a table saying she was our server and took our order. Then when she brought the food, I found a small curly hair mixed into my steak sandwich. She tried to tell me it was nothing, just a cleaning product then offered to remake it when I said I couldn’t eat it knowing someone’s hair had been in it. Then they didn’t even offer a small discount or to comp the meal. As I said earlier, mediocre service at best.
Picked up a couple to-go breakfasts and it was enough to make me never go again. The 2 eggs & whatever platter my husband got was good, but my chicken fried steak over biscuits &gravy was horrible. The meat was dried out maybe as thick as a single layer of Steakums. And the flavor was overpowered by the oil. The gravy was extremely plain and the hash browns were fried all to 'heck' and back. So solid I couldn't even eat with utensils - it was just the kind of thing you might pick up as a solid piece and try to bite. Pretty sure my scrambled eggs were fake too, although I blame myself for not ordering fried since that is common. The huckleberry muffin was awesome, but after trashing my whole breakfast, I'm too bitter to let that sway my poor opinion of the food.
A friend and I went to the new location in Atascadero. We given it a two star based on our first experience of this new location. Will definitely try again, but this time around it missed the mark. We just are chalking it up to new opening and not having everything dialed in but wanted to let them know what we thought so they could make changes as they see fit. Staff seemed completely confused and overwhelmed but really friendly. We got three different answers from two different servers. We were given inaccurate information several times with regard to menu items, and in the end didn’t get what we had asked for. Food was good except for the vegetable soup everything else we had We would probably order again but it would’ve been nice to receive what we ordered the first time. Anyway, we wish them the best of luck and hopefully next time we can give them a five star rating.
The server was amazing. Unfortunately the food was awful. Everything is tasteless and seems as if it was pre frozen. Nothing remotely healthy to eat
Easy free onsite parking, close to hwy 101, near the center of town. Good friendly service, Louisiana style menu, I had the bananas Foster french toast, came with country potatoes, two eggs, bacon, and green fried tomatoes. Serving size was generous but came to the table cold, bacon not evenly cooked, french toast were smothered in too much syrup/nuts/bananas. Did not enjoy the breakfast.

I gave it the low rating because the of the value. I don’t mind paying higher prices if the food is good. Here the food is indifferent but you are paying more than average for breakfast fare. The eggs were dense, therefore made with water and rather tasteless. The ham steak and French toast were average.

First time here last week after a funeral and I thought this place was really good, so I decided to bring my wife this weekend. We live quit a ways out of town, so this was a drive for us. When we got there, it was 2:50pm and knowing they close at 3pm, I asked the counter waitress... is it to late, she said no problem were good, I asked are you sure... yes she stated and sat us down. As we were looking at the menu, I could hear the cook tell the waitresses, he turned the grills off, I asked the waitress if he closed up the grill as I heard, as we would just go somewhere else no problem... she insisted he's just grumpy, a minute later he started yelling... why do people always come in as were trying to close, this is B.S. that was it for me, I told my wife let's go... and told the waitress, who was very polite and tried to accommodate, there's a better way for the cook to express his feelings that wouldn't have been so rude and inappropriate, as I know when we got there and I did ask twice. Too bad the owner isn't there to hear things like this... I've visited many restaurants and most owners would love the money being spent over someone's feelings of how they would rather leave and go home. Or was the cook the owner 👀 and I'll never be back. To bad as I did like this place.
Great food, but the server we had was very absent minded and when my friend ordered hot water, lemon, and honey, and the server forgot the lemon, didnt come back for like 20 minutes forgot it again and when we asked to have it remade she brought back boiling water, then she proceeded to forget her food order and she didnt get her food till everyone was basically done eating.
I got the Shrimp po-Boy it was an open face sandwich. It was basically batter poppers... What shrimp was in there had to have come out of a tuna can. They were specks of shrimp, if there even was a piece in each one! I couldn't find it. They had no flavor. The French fries tasted like cardboard. I actually enjoyed the chunk of lettuce they had down for the sandwich along with the two slices of tomatoes and two pickles, the buttered roll was slightly toasted so I ate that as well . The only reason why I asked for a to-go container was to appease the person who paid for my meal
I'm 8 months pregnant and my daughter has a disability so it's hard to go out sometimes. She was very excited to go to this restaurant but....Daughter got the wrong order, didn't get it fixed until 40 min later (we got it to go...) Server ignored us, I got my drink refilled 5 min before we left...I don't know what they were thinking, but they had a meeting during open hours in which our server joined at the large table at the front of the restaurant (with no warning while we were waiting).... They took our check and never said they weren't coming back (because of this stupid meeting). I had to step outside with my daughter because she was upset, if I didn't see all the staff sitting at the table and the front on my way out? My husband would have been waiting forever for them to return with his card 🙄...Gave us a $5 off coupon for next time, like there will be one.... I'm not going back, I don't want to comeback to a place where my daughter has to sit and cry without food for so long.... Did I mention we paid $80 for this terrible service 😢
First time in. Greeted, seated. Sat there for nearly 15 minutes. A waitress informed the table right next to ours (2 feet from us) that their order should be out soon, and apologized for the delay. She then left immediately; we we not even asked if we would like something to drink. We pulled the plug and left. As we left, the manager thanked us for coming in. Yeah, great. We went to Dan's Grub Shack, seated, drink order taken, and had a great lunch.
After placing my order, and waiting over 45 minutes for my food, I left. Yes it was Sunday, it was busy, but over 45 minutes for a 1 person counter order, Absurd!!
