Haven't been to Cafe D in almost 20 years. Still has the super taco and I still can't finish the whole thing. Great service. Food is still delicious.
I have been a patron of Cafe D since I was in HS (grad-1988). I love their food and I love their salsas!! My friends & I used to eat Cafe D tacos before going to dance clubs 'til the wee hours. I'm unable to frequent Cafe D as much as I would like 'cause I moved to Santa Cruz (Cafe D is still the best Mexican restaurant). I can't wait to come back to Cafe D and have a shredded beef taco!
Great place, especially Taco Tuesday. Frank the waiter, excellent service. Worth tipping him well.
Love their mole inspired enchilada sauce. Located in a charming historic part of town. Great chips and salsa. Good prices. Comfortable booths. Right next door to oldest post office in the West.
This is a local favorite and one of our favorite places. This place holds special meaning for us to our relationship. We've been here a dozen times and it's always good, hot food and served very quickly. If you're in a hurry this place is fast. All except one time, all the servers are polite and have great customer service checking on you and refilling drinks often.🌟
Go here for taco Tuesday their tacos are huge you get three of them for $9. Super yummy
The food was excellent! I had the chili colorado and it was one of the most authenticate dished I've had. It tasted exactly the same as my own homemade version.
In Old Town Auburn, this is my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is always delicious, and the customer service is wonderful. I highly recommend this place! Enjoy!
I have been coming to Cafe delicious since I was in 8th grade 1972 the place is always the same it's always good there is no salsa that even compares to their red salsa. I found some once in Mexico with a little hint of BBQ to it and yet nothing compares. Thanks Reuben and crew!
Saved the day! excellent tacos amazing service! and they gave us chips and salsa without even requesting it! The lady at the counter had great service with a smile on her face!
Very good Mexican food. Large menu with a huge selection of all your favorite items: burritos, tacos, tostadas, Chile relleno, etc. Prices are good and service is friendly and quick. Good selection of beers and beverages. Definitely an old town Auburn staple.
Gotta love Cafe D in old town Auburn! Good food, good service, no complaints. We sat outside and had a nice open-air dinner, they always make us feel like family and that's part of the reason we love 'em!
I really love it here I come here with friends and on Tuesdays. They have taco Tuesdays three tacos for 999 and their Horchata and jamica are amazing. I recommend I recommend I recommend I will be back every Tuesday.
I will go back. Great quality Mexican food at reasonable prices. Wonderful atmosphere.
My first visit to Cafe Delicias was 1965... and, it remains really good. Even the fresh small dinner salad has never changed_it is Excellent & fresh every time. (They are refrigerating in small bowls to save time.) Not good. Great Salsa & Chips tells best Mexican food most times. It's all good...Try the egg dishes!
My favorite server I have ever had here! I've been coming since I was a kid, and now bring my kid here. The food is always exceptional and consistent! This time was even better though with a friendly, familiar face to add to the experience! Definitely a reason to come more often once again.
Went there for lunch with my girls. All of the food was excellent and the service was decent. Got the food quick too.

Nice spot for unpretentious, crowd-pleasing Mexican food. We stopped in on a Saturday for lunch and we're pleased with the quick service and large portions. The bathrooms are comfortable and there is a good baby changing station.
Family owned and run. Great place to have awesome mexican food
We LOVE Cafe D....We feel like we are at home when we eat at Cafe D. We miss the North Auburn location but we now visit Old Town location for a dose of good old fashioned awesome service, fun chats with the servers and tasty food. All of the servers are at the top of their game when we are there. It's fun to see Ruben the Owner cruise through every now and again so we can razz him a bit ;0) Keep up the good work Cafe D, it's a delight to get that "warm & fuzzy" hometown feel when everything else seems to be in hyperspeed mode. We love the good old charm that we have known since the early 70's :0)
Friendly timely service excellent lunch quick and delicious
Great food! The people are always friendly . One of my most favorite restaurants in Auburn!

I wasn't visiting Cafe D on a regular basis because I was underwhelmed by the food some years ago but boy oh boy they have really stepped up their game! Their bar is well stocked and their bartender is good at her job. I will be back!
A very nice surprise to find real Mexican food in a town like this. Good cooks, know what their doing. Nice open atmosphere. Bar had character, friendly locals.
Cafe has been a go-to for me since the 1980s. The food isn't fancy, and may not be authentically Mexican, but it's tasty, fairly priced, and it's a good example of a friendly small-town place. It's so much better than any chain!
Great service. The food was good, not fantastic, but decent. Good location for jury duty since it's walkable from the courthouse.
Great local Mexican food restaurant that has been part of Old Town Auburn for ages. Good food for a good price, and you get free chips! Cafe Delicias also offers lunch specials Monday-Friday where you can get a big lunch for less than $10.

The food was good, average for a Mexican diner. The drinks were cold and strong, it was quiet, and cool. We with family meeting all together In the middle of a heatwave, and looking for a place away from the heat where we could hear each other and sit comfortably. If this was a great spot. We checked out several of the other establishments which seemed a little higher end none of them had strong AC and all seemed hard to hear each other. This was the perfect little place to meet.
Food was very good! I had the shrimp enchiladas and they were very tasty. The table service was a little lethargic and we had to ask for more ice tea a couple times. Parking in old Town can be a challenge at lunch time but we managed.
I've been dining here for almost 3 decades now and it's been consistently good. Service is typically friendly and helpful. Food is very consistent and ample portion sizes. I would stick to the classics if you're looking for something reliable. My favorites are the Huevos a Caballo and Chili Colorado. The salsa tastes fresh and has a gentle / building heat, though I recommend adding a little salt. If you don't go in expecting gourmet Mexican food, you'll be pleasantly surprised by this staple of Old Town Auburn.
Exceptional service with just the right amount of attention. Fantastic margarita; not too sweet. Delicious shrimp fajitas. Reasonable price. Authentic atmosphere. Definitely a great choice if you're in the mood for Mexican cuisine.

I had a Caritas plate. The meat was dry, it wasn't tasty. Another person said their chicken taco wasn't good. Another person in my group got a chopped up steak dish and didn't like it. There are probably some good dishes on the menu. The service was good and the atmosphere was good. Finding parking on the weekend is difficult. I'll probably go back because it's a fun and easy place to get to while traveling.
We went and it wasn't very busy. Service was great. Chips and salsa were good. Horchata was good. Enchiladas were ok. I don't recommend tamales. My wife didn't like her food. Most likely would pass on eating here again. It was wheelchair accessible though you may have to open both doors to get into the historic building if you have a wide chair.
Our waiter did not speak good English. I had a hard time getting him to understand that I didn't want Cilantro in my salsa. He finally understood and pointed at the one that did not have cilantro. He did not tell me it was HOT. I got a big chip full of salsa and burnt my mouth and throat. It took 20 minutes to get water. I ordered a tostada. My companions order the super taco and the chili reano/ burrito combo. The taco doesn't state that it is fried so hard to eat. The chili/burrito combo was microwave. Not worth the cost.
Really solid chimichanga (really good green chile pork), mid service, bad stale chips
If you just went off of how clean the place was you would leave, We gave it a shot because sometimes you get really good food, you never know. Every table was dirty we Sat down at, Even after the guy wiped it down it still had stuff on it. The table has a plastic cover on top of it and it's full of water below. You could actually push down on the top of the table and make water come out on top of your shirt. The bottom of the chips when we got done with them, there was a ton of Teflon type plastic in the bottom of the bowl. I posted a picture. I thought it was interesting to use a wooden bowl for a salad but you know. The food was very good, Good luck.
We stopped and ate here tonight. The service was excellent and the food was good. We caught the restaurant right before the dinner rush. The restaurant seems to get busy and was filling up. Our meals were very reasonably priced and came out pretty quickly. The meal started off with a small salad, which I thought was a nice touch. My wife had a Chili Relleno and Carne Assad Soft Taco. She really liked the meal. I had a Tamale that was topped with a Mole Type Sauce and a Chicken Burrito (pictures attached). We both were happy with our meal and if in the area and you are looking for a nice Mexican food meal you should stop by.
Good food, decent price, very friendly staff. The burritos lookes good and i got the super nachos. They give complimentary chips and salsa and its very good. They also have fried ice cream and burrito cheesecake. I didnt try it, but i think itd taste pretty good. The decor is nice and has a nice theme that makes it cozy. They also have a bar.

This use to be the best place for Mexican, food was good, and friendly service. Not anymore, the waitress was rude, they charge extra for everything even when there menu says it comes with the items ordered. This is the last time I m going to be ordering from this restraunt. Last 3 times have been very unpleasant. I can spend my hard earned money at a business that appreciates my business. Tired of the disrespectful and rude servers ...
I can’t even rate the food here. It was taco Tuesday and they served me tacos with pre Boxed corn tortillas that you would buy in the store pre- shaped. The meat was mush and they sprinkled fat shredded cheddar cheese on the top. I was literally in shock that they are still in business. I should’ve take a photo. There was only a father and daughter there as well. I asked if they have music and he said no at first and then someone eventually put some Latino music on. I paid my bill just to be courteous, but I will never ever eat there again.🥴
The atmosphere was fine. The service was fine. The food got me really sick for about 12 hours.
Absolutely awful. From the moment I sat down I had terrible service. It took about 30 minutes to get a drink and took over an hour to order food. To top off the horrible experience while there, my cousins boyfriend who picked up the bill got charged $120 when our receipt was for $80. Don’t let me forget we had to argue with our waiter that we were not going to tip due to the awful service we received. I do not recommend this place and will never be back.
Worst mexican food ever. Cook was glaring at us. They advertised full bar but nobody was a bartender. Green sauce on chicken enchiladas...really?? Beans and rice no flavor. What a joke...never go there...ever!!! Hope we don't get sick tonight.
Well, not my favorite place. I ordered a ground beef burrito lunch plate. It was an over-priced very small, greasy, skimpy burrito that couldn't be picked up. The rice is instant with some mexican seasonings. The refried bean were the most edible item on my plate. I do not recommend.
The wait staff are rude and they do not honor there menu items. Menu says it comes with salad, but on to go orders it's extra?? All in all bad service, rude employees, overpriced and you do not get what you paid for. This was my 3rd trip to this restraunt, and my last. Guess they think because they have 3 locations they do not need to follow the golden rule for restraunts success key! QUALITY, QUANTITY N GOOD SERVICE!!!!
Friendly staff but the food was not enjoyed by any of the four of us. Extremely greasy and tasted generally off.
I don’t leave a lot of negative reviews but I’ve sat on this for a little and decided I do want to give my honest opinion to the public, and I’m hopeful the business will take this as an opportunity to fix some issues. My party and I came here on a Sunday evening, the first thing I noticed was how the restaurant seemed to be severely understaffed, we waited so long for any kind of service whether it be for drinks, to take our order, or for the check. When we finally got the food (which is really overpriced) the majority of our plates were cold, the chips tasted like they were from 2 days ago, and the rest of the food had little to no flavor. I am really disappointed in this restaurant and I hope they strongly consider restructuring.
The staff are extremely nice and the perfect balance of attentive without being overbearing. But the tamale there was the worst I'd ever had. The corn part was extremely grey and muted in color and the flavor of every component was lackluster.
