I’m so delighted I got to finally try Ava Austin on a whim. I had it on my “to go to” bucket list for about 6 months. I was in Austin for a Texas REALTORS conference and some friends invited me to join. I’m so glad I did. Upon seating, our server expressed it’s a California Lebanese fusion. She was right. My friends are from Syria and were absolutely tickled to see Muhammara on the menu as it’s from their region. We absolutely tried it and loved it! Everything we tried, we wiped clean on the plate! The mezze platter was a great starter with the fresh bread. I could tell everything was made in house. The lamb and beef kefta was cooked to my liking and seasoned just right. The tzatziki sauce paired so well. The basmati rice had a slight citrus to it, but it was just right with the kefta, sauce and some bread. Be sure to leave room for dessert! The chocolate olive oil cake is so dreamy. It had the slightest dense texture that melts in your mouth with the whipped cream. Our server was balancing various large parties. We had to ask another server to help replenish some items but it was still prompt service for the most part. The atmosphere is so fresh and inviting outside. Inside is a bit more formal, upscale. The bathrooms were a bit dim for my liking, but I guess they set the mood. Overall, it’s a great spot for a professional lunch with colleagues to a laidback setting with good friends, or even alone!
I used to visit Aba in Chicago and it was one of my all-time favorite spots, so I was very excited to try the Austin location. And let me tell you… it did not disappoint! Aba has a great wine selection, excellent cocktails, and the food is absolutely delicious. The ambience is beautiful, modern, and warm perfect for a date night, dinner with friends, or a nice celebration. Reservations are highly recommended (just like in Chicago). But if you have to wait, the patio and bar area are super pleasant, you can relax with a drink and enjoy the vibe while your table gets ready. We ordered a variety of dishes to share and everything was outstanding: • Crispy Short Rib Hummus – a must-order! • Whipped Feta – creamy and so flavorful • Shawarma Spiced Prime Skirt • Lamb & Beef Kefta • Grilled Halloumi We were 3 adults (2 men and 1 woman), and this was the perfect amount of food. We all left happy and satisfied; and again, no room for dessert! Service was friendly and attentive both times I visited. Aba is definitely a must-try in Austin.
I would recommend reservations as it can be a long wait for walk ins! We dined here as walk ins one night and were able to snag a spot at the bar. Everything we had was delicious. We ordered the garlic hummus, braised short rib, brussel sprouts, lamb & beef kefta, and the olive oil frozen yogurt for dessert. Everything was good and I felt it was a fair price for the portion. We both agreed that the garlic hummus was exceptional-would absolutely recommend! We will be back to try more of the menu. In addition the restaurant, though busy, maintains a nice atmosphere.
This was an impromptu lunch date...never been here and I picked this place out of the blue because I love Mediterranean food... Aba Austin was EXQUISITE!!! It's a very busy restaurant great vibe...food was so fresh and the drinks were totally divine...service was AWESOME..We will be be back very soon...Patrick is part of the management staff and he was EXCELLENT!! im sitting in the courtyard chillin getting ready for the drive back home....
We loved the experience in this restaurant. The food was delicious. The highlight was the halibut that was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is very warm and the waiters are all very nice.
Went there for my wife's birthday, had a great time. It was pretty impossible to get a reservation for dinner. But somehow we got in. The food, service, ambiance & decor was on point. As expected, we had 4 in the group, so it was a very snug fit and if you're sharing different appetizers on a cramped little table, it gets very interesting. Service was great, wait for the food was pretty fast, especially for a fully booked restaurant, with a lot happening, price for the food was fair, not over the top but certainly not cheap. Overall experience was great, will be back next time if the reservation allows for a decent time.
Nice place to stop to get a break from burgers and bbq. Great menu for Mediterranean options. Loved the Greek salad and pita bread spread options. Nice drink options. Great service and seating inside or on private decks.
Went here for our anniversary and it was great. Had to make a reservation in November for a dinner in January. Potatos were as good as potatos get, short rib hummus on par with The Peacock, and steak frites were also good, although I don't think it was $40+ good (quite a small steak and average frites). Definitely paying for the ambience here. We were gifted a dessert of some tart soft serve concoction, which was good but very powerful.
Best spot in town for mediterranean food with top notch service. The food was so fresh and delicious with perfect spice blend and texture. One of the best mediterranean food i have ever had in the states and couldn’t recommend this place more. Their service was excellent just how you’d want (not too slow, not too fast) and they have a ton of space to get you seated both indoor and outdoors with beautiful ambience. Must try restaurant in Austin. The lamb and beef kefta kebab was super good with high quality meat and perfect blend of spices, chilled cucumbers and garlic hummus were also very good. And the sticky date cake was a perfect pick for dessert. They have a very good cocktail menu as well.
ABA in Austin is absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and beautifully designed. The service was outstanding. Attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable without being overbearing. The food was incredible. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared, with standout Mediterranean flavors that really shine. Everything we tried was perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. This is one of those places that lives up to the hype and then exceeds it. A must visit spot in Austin and somewhere I will happily return to again and again.
Aba is a beautiful restaurant with a modern and quaint vibe. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, and we chose to sit outside. It was very cozy and the temperature was perfect. It was a great spot to relax and enjoy the evening. The service was very friendly and attentive. We only had drinks and dessert. The menu is somewhat pricey. The frozen yogurt was light and refreshing. The pistachio panna cotta was interesting both the panna cotta and the orange topping were good on their own, but together the combination didn’t quite work for me. Paid parking was difficult to find but this was a lovely spot with great ambiance.
Aba absolutely blew me away! Every bite bursts with bold, vibrant Mediterranean flavors from the creamy hummus to perfectly roasted veggies and juicy, tender meats. The atmosphere is chic, lively, and effortlessly fun, making it perfect for a date night or night out with friends. Service was friendly and attentive, adding to an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait to go back! 🫶🏾
ABA in Austin is always a good move. The food is fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. Everything comes out light but packed with flavor, especially the spreads and small plates. The vibe is lively without being chaotic, and it’s an easy place to hang out, eat well, and enjoy the night. Great spot for a group or a fun dinner that actually delivers.
I’m so excited to say I’ve had the pleasure to try Aba Austin. What a lovely Mediterranean restaurant. I sat up at the bar which was double sided for indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor section of the restaurant was almost as expansive as the indoor. I noticed many people preferred the outdoor seating. I stay cold so I was happy to be inside. The food was exceptional. Five star at its finest. I ate too much of the pita bread so only had the hummus and one of the small plates. The yellowtail cold plate was similar to a crudo although they didn’t call it that. It was one of the most flavorful dishes I have ever had. Truly a delight to the tastebuds! Of course I left room for dessert and thank goodness I did. The sticky date cake (think sticky toffee pudding)was to die for. Aba Austin is a must try.
Tried to stop in for a quick lunch but they were fully booked. We got accommodated on the patio and even though it was chilly their heat lamps made it quite comfortable. The service was exceptional and the food was even better. Having a family style meal was perfect. The skirt steak, branzino and lamb kafta was plenty for four people. We also got their special trio of dips to start.
I’m pretty sure this is one of the trendier restaurants in Austin, and the interior proves it—beautifully designed with a warm, modern Mediterranean feel that makes you want to linger. The menu has a wide range of spreads and entrées. We kept it light this time with chicken kebab, crispy potatoes, and traditional hummus. Everything was delicious and the hummus with fresh pita was a standout I’d absolutely recommend. As someone who loves Mediterranean cuisine, I’d happily return, especially to try their selection of Eastern European wines.
I had such a wonderful dining experience at Aba Restaurant in Austin! Everything from the service to the food was excellent. Noel was my server and was so friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu—she made the experience even better. I ordered the short rib hummus, fried potatoes, and salmon kabobs, and every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Thank you to Noel and the entire Aba Austin team for such a memorable dinner. This restaurant is a must-visit if you’re looking for delicious Mediterranean-inspired food, great ambiance, and top-notch service!
Aba had been on our list of restaurants we wanted to visit and were finally able to get in this time around. The wait was worth it. The food is amazing!! Great choice of cocktails and I'm pretty sure we ordered one of everything on the menu. The haloumi and fish were favorites from the main menu and the cake and frozen yogurt from the dessert. Pro tip, reservations on Sundays sure easier to get. Lots of street parking available. Courtyard is beautiful.. I suggest sitting out there.
We had an amazing experience at Aba! From the moment we walked in, everything exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was beautiful, relaxing, and full of great energy. Our server Aiden truly made the evening special — attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and his recommendations were spot-on. The food was absolutely delicious — we had Lamb & Beef Kefta, Charred Eggplant, and Beef Tenderloin Kebab with a mix of rice and salad. Every dish was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. We also enjoyed San Pellegrino Sparkling Water alongside our meal, which complemented everything nicely. Highly recommend Aba for anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience with incredible service. Thank you, Aiden, for making our night memorable — we’ll definitely be coming back!
Another Yelp Elite recommended Aba to me and it was a great recommendation. It’s a fun area on South Congress surrounded by shopping and tourists. It’s actually tucked away and feels pretty private. The ambiance is calming with lots of plants. The outdoor seating had mist and fans. The food is great. Marking allergies with an allergy marker. Most of the menu can accommodate a gluten and dairy allergy. Samantha was great. We enjoyed our meal. The truffled salmon was delicious.
My wife and I had a lovely dinner at Aba. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. It has a beautiful atmosphere and design, which is perfect for a night out. We got the whipped feta, which had a rich delicious flavor, though it was a little strong for my wife. The jumbo lump crab cake was excellent. It tasted fresh and flavorful. The pistachio-crusted halibut was good, but it was a little on the bland side especially compared to the other dishes. For dessert, we tried both the sticky date cake and the pistachio panna cotta. They were both amazing! I think the sticky date cake was the highlight of the meal. All in all, Aba is a great place for a fancy date night or work outing. It was a great dining experience with a few standout dishes. I would definitely recommend it, especially for its ambience and desserts!
We visited Aba on a Saturday morning to try their brunch menu. We ordered the short ribs shakshuka, blackberry drop biscuits, khachapuri, and wild mushroom hummus. The service was slow at first and it was difficult to get our waitress's attention, which is why I'm giving it four stars. The portion sizes were decent overall. The standout dish was definitely the wild mushroom hummus- the flavor was incredible and I highly recommend it. The khachapuri was good, though the bread could have been a bit fluffier. I would return, but it's not somewhere I'd go out of my way for. Still, I'd recommend giving it a try.
Apps were bomb we also tried the mushroom kebab which had a great flavor from the wood fired grill. Only complaint was that the onion piece was the core so it was charred on the outside but basically raw in the middle. Also no beer in tap which is weird since they have like 3 bars. Service was amazing and the trees on the deck are great.
Living closely to Mediterranean and visiting all the countries around I can say this food is ok , considering that probably most of the ingredients coming from US. Unfortunately portion were to small for avarige male, they are probably good for other genders but for me was embarrassing small and I am 190 pound guy. I noticed, at the time was there, more then 80% of visitors were none male genders, with that fact, portions probably do not influence other reviews. Service was good, only food should have been served at the same time, not as we received. My wife had 10 min earlier then me. Those thing should be common sense in serving. Place, atmosphere and garden were we had lunch were great.
Beautiful place to have a romantic meal with that special someone without having to go dressed up to the 9s and 10s. This place serves Mediterranean food and I had the chance to sample two of their main dishes: the heirloom chicken thighs and the lamb and beef kefta skewer. The lamb and beef skewer was tasty, but a little on the dry side which was funny because the outside did not seem too charred. The star of this dish is the basmati rice which was flavourful and had a nice tangy acid surprise from I’m thinking lemon? The chicken thighs are a must get dish. The chicken was crusty even with a sauce over it. The onions in the dish basically absorbed all the flavor from the chicken and spices and added great depth to the place. The one think lacking was the service. Sitting at the bar, the barmaid could not give a damn about our party. She couldn’t have been bothered and pretty much ignored us through out the night even though at one point we were the only two people sitting at the bar. She did basically nothing her whole time there. Thank goodness the barman came to the rescue and served us even though he was doing the service bar and wasn’t really our server. He made the night enjoyable.
This was my first time at Aba, and we came in with high expectations since we love Mediterranean food. I’ve had the chance to try several Mediterranean restaurants in Austin, and honestly, the one that stands out the most for me is The Peacock. At Aba, the only dish I truly enjoyed was the crispy short rib hummus—it was delicious. However, the rest of the food felt more like Mediterranean food truck quality. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything special, especially considering the prices. The main dish we ordered had overcooked, tough meat, which was disappointing. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with lovely décor and a lively atmosphere, but for me, the food doesn’t live up to the hype or the 4.7 star rating. Service was about a 6/10, cocktails a 6/10, and overall, I’d rate the food around a 4 or 5 out of 10. We didn’t even order dessert because we felt underwhelmed after the main courses. If you’re looking for a more elevated Mediterranean dining experience in Austin, I’d recommend The Peacock instead.
I went to aba and was ecstatic to go. I reserved a table about 2 weeks in advance for a Saturday night. I counted down the days in my calendar but was disappointed and my pockets have been a lot lighter than usual. To start I got the Whipped Feta with bread. The flavor was extremely strong but not in a good way. I winced and smiled through the pain. This also ran me 16 bucks but I think I would’ve preferred a 2 dollar hummus and chips from the great value section from the mart. As much as I didn’t want to eat it I dug deep and ate it trying to convince myself it was good. For the main course we got the Heirloom Chicken Thighs and The Beef and Lamb Kefta. The Heirloom Chicken Thighs was actually just crispy chicken with a lackluster sauce and huge peppers, squash, and onions. Not cute at all and really doesn’t add much to this dish besides nasty breath and making the food worse. This was the first time I had butternut squash and my god it will be the last unless someone forces it in my mouth against my will. The beef and lamb kefta was pretty disappointing. I’ve had better at street side gyro carts where I can’t even understand the guy taking my order. Lastly the bill… this ran me about 80 bucks including tip and I don’t think I’d pay above 35 bucks for all this. Overrated but a nice place. Would recommend grabbing someone off the street to take over as head chef. Lastly the water could’ve been colder. If you want an easy way to split the bill then use BillBoss AI on the app store !
The service is subpar for the expectations of this space. The Happy Hour wines are nice, but don’t expect to try anything on that menu unless you have a seat at one of the 10 bar tops & there’s no event going on outside, taking up a third of those spaces- a bartender rudely explained that. The food is good, but not worth the premium- if you’d like an authentic experience, try one of the locally owned spots. Beautiful tree on the outside patio. Overall, a restaurant best used for business meetings on Congress, not for people seeking a genuine hospitality experience.
