I have yet to try the famous bread boat but have had the kharcho soup twice. It is delicious and I can tell it's made with care and great ingredients. The flavors are bright and comforting especially during this freezing weather we are having. Support small businesses like this one!
Delicious!! We had the chicken bread boats and they were so flavorful. The cheese, butter, and bread combination.... *chefs kiss*. The staff were incredible. It was raining and they were very busy and the staff did their best to accommodate seating. Awesome experience.
Amazing Georgian food!! Everything is fresh and the service is very friendly. We came in and it was empty (we need more people here!!) but it started to pick up around 12:30pm. We got the classic and it was divine! Cheesy eggy but the flavors were so good. The bread is amazing! The walnut pistachio dessert was so good. Can’t wait to come back and try the Shaksuka like one.
Delicious authentic Georgian (the country) food! Everything is made fresh as you order - these bread boats are so great! Super soft delicious bread with fresh meat and eggs - I can imagine eating these for all three meals! It’s mainly counter service but the space is immaculate with Georgian art and contemporary music (not too loud or intrusive). We will definitely be back!
My father grew up in the region of Georgia so we are very familiar with the food. We've also personally been in the bordering regions. The trick with the bread boats is using the right dough and right cheese. These are authentic and well executed. I was pleasantly surprised to have something so similar to what I remember having during my travels. I also really liked the soup (hartcho). You won't try food like this anywhere else in Austin and it's even hard to find in larger cities, so give it a shot. Very filling.
Great experience! The bread boat with beef and cheese was made fresh and absolutely delicious! For those familiar with it, it was quite similar to the Turkish pide, specifically from the Black Sea region. The quality of the ingredients and the handiwork of the kitchen staff are evident. The staff were also really friendly. Will definitely be returning!
First time trying this dish. We ordered the traditional version. Can't beat freshly baked bread. Next time I'll try another with extra toppings. The walnut pate appetizer is tasty and has a pretty presentation. I would like some iced tea as an option but they only have a few canned/bottled drink options.
Bread Board in East Austin is a must-visit for anyone eager to explore global flavors, serving authentic Georgian dishes made fresh the moment you place your order on an easy touch-screen kiosk. The bright, welcoming space has plenty of indoor seating, a cozy covered patio perfect for hanging out, and free parking that makes getting there stress-free. Every plate is made with fresh, quality ingredients, and the friendly owners make you feel right at home. Alongside the delicious food, you can sip on locally roasted Desnudo Coffee, making it an ideal spot to study, catch up with friends, or take your taste buds on an adventure.
Whatever they put in that cake/dessert (probably dulce de leche) is so addictive but somehow not too sweet. I would go back for the dessert alone. The bread boats are made to order so expect it to come out piping hot and fresh, but also be prepared to wait 15 mins for it. They are the perfect sharing size for 2-3 as well. Indoor and outdoor/patio dining options. They definitely deserve the hype and the business. Comfort food in the best way. I mean who can say no to bread and cheese?
An absolute Gem! ✨ Bread Boat in East Austin is an absolute delight. We tried the Herbed Chicken Boat and the Veggie Boat, and both were outstanding—fresh, flavorful, perfectly baked bread and with a true homemade touch. Very friendly staff! Highly recommend stopping by—you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit!
I had to review this while eating; it’s that good. Amazing even. The Adjaruli Khachapuri is heavenly, buttery, cheesy, and the dough is perfectly baked. It is addicting and filling. The soup kharcho is so wonderfully seasoned and rich, it pairs well with the other offerings. I imagine how good it is in winter. The atmosphere is clean and cozy, and the staff is very friendly and inviting. Bravo! I hope to come again!
This place is awesome. Everything is made fresh so the bread is nice and soft and all the toppings meld together really well. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the interior is clean and filled with Georgian touches — loved the music. The Georgian beer was great, too. The portions are big, so bring an appetite!
Bread boat was incredible. I had the half egg and cheese with the other half being chicken. It is a unique concept and one of the best dishes I have had in years. Make sure to add the house sauce!
I had a wonderful experience at Bread Boat! The food was absolutely delicious and full of authentic Georgian flavor. Everything tasted fresh and perfectly prepared. The service was incredibly generous and welcoming ,the staff made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and you can really tell they care about the quality of their food and hospitality. If you want to try something unique and very tasty, this place is definitely worth visiting. I highly recommend Bread Boat and will happily come back again!
If I could rate this place 10/5 I would. I recently went to Bread Boat and the experience was honestly amazing. The employees were seriously some of the nicest people I’ve met at a restaurant. They greeted everyone with a smile, were super patient, and made the whole place feel welcoming. You can tell they actually care about customers and take pride in their work. The atmosphere was just as good. It felt clean, organized, and really comfortable to sit in. The area around it is great too, with a nice vibe that makes you want to hang out a little longer instead of just grabbing food and leaving. Overall, the environment and staff alone make it a place I’d gladly keep going back to.
Legit Georgian food in Austin! This place will give you a happy belly. Casual environment, comforting and the khachapuri hits. Very friendly staff– and good service for a self-order spot. Can't wait to come back to try the wines and kharcho. A couple of requests for the owners - Can you add ajika, khinkali, lobio, and Georgian salad to the menu in the future plans as you grow :) Soooo good.
We went for a brunch and ordered their classic bread boat and meat pie, we added an extra egg on the classic bread boat and it was phenomenal! The meat pie was too greasy for me but to be fair we were stuffed and picky, we had one slice and then my husband finished the rest for dinner. Note: one bread boat is easily shareable between two people. It takes a bit to get your food since they bake it fresh, plan accordingly.
So yummy 😋 We tried the meat pie and the bacon bean pie—both were absolute hits. The bread was fluffy and golden, the fillings rich and comforting, and the flavors felt hearty without being too heavy. Super satisfying, cozy food that totally delivers. Would happily order again. 🥧✨
This place has 5 stars with 197 reviews (as of this review) for a reason. The smell that hits you when you walk in instantly transports you into the bakery, yet the atmosphere is very cool, ventilated, and good for dining. The food is very filling and surprisingly not too heavy for a bread boat filled with egg, cheese, and butter. The meat pies were a bit hard to cut but the crisp crust with the savory meat filling were spot on. Definitely come here if you are a bread lover!!
A great place. Delicious food, generous portions, friendly staff, affordable pricing. It's rare that you find a place that checks all the boxes, and this place is definitely it. The name sake item, the bread boat, is the star of the show here, and you should get it first and foremost. The kharcho beef stew was a close second for us, full of savory flavor. Come here, you won't regret it.
Legitimately five stars. Great, authentic, hand-made per-order food. Friendly staff (who are, I believe, actually Georgian). Nice atmosphere. Convenient location. Reasonable prices. Happy to endorse without qualification.
First time here. We got 3 diff things. Everything was great and we had leftovers. Fairly priced. Good food. Great customer service. They offer wine too if you’re inclined or wanna buy a bottle to go. And outdoor shaded seating
The bread boat was amazing: honestly the vegetarian one is still half cheese and egg so it’s basically two badass dishes in one. I say this as someone who usually is contemptuous of vegetarian entrees. The meat pie was so buttery and aromatic with the meat and all of the breads were hot and fresh and perfect. Even the beets were a flavor blast as an appetizer. Service was helpful and they’re clearly proud of Georgian food which is great since they actually overdeliver so hard.
Absolutely delicious! The khachapuri was warm, cheesy, and perfectly baked. Everything tasted authentic and fresh. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to try real Georgian food in Austin!
Perfect food for a cold rainy day. I had the beef bread boat. Without much to compare it to, it was like a really Cheesy Chili bread bowl. They suggested to mix the cheese butter and egg together but separate from the meat. The mixture was good all by it's self, so I'm sure the classic bowl would be good too, but the meet ended up getting mixed in anyway as you pull bread off the bowl and scoop. The bread was excellent and all the ingredients were quality.
10/10! Legit Georgian food with legit ingredients! I am so used to being disappointed by Americanized versions of my favorite cuisines, but this place is different. Here are my recommendations: -Pkhali 🤤 -Vegetable Khachapuri 🇬🇪 We tried it as listed on the menu and also without cheese (so fully vegan). I can honestly say that the vegan version was maybe even better. Sooooo delicious! -Medovik 🍯🍰 Thank you to the amazing staff for your hospitality!
Delicious Georgian food. Kharcho is a warm beef soup. The boats speak for themselves as amazing. The meat pies were savoury and well spiced.
Absolutely delicious! We ordered their classic khachapuri as well as a meat pie - both delightful. We couldn’t stop eating despite being totally stuffed! My husband grew up eating Georgian food and raved about our meal. But it was equally impressive for me who’s never gotten to try it! Highly recommend
Our first time at Bread Boat in East Austin and we loved it! The Georgian Bread Boats are perfectly spiced, savory and so satisfying. The homemade bread is wonderful! One boat was plenty for two people to share at lunch. We had the chicken. Comes with an egg and a generous pat of butter to up the deliciousness. Also loved the Georgian beer, reminded us of a Peroni. Very casual vibe. Highly recommend! We will be back frequently!
I went thinking it would be tasty but primarily a means of experiencing another culture’s food. I mean, yes to both, but IT WAS SO GOOD. Vegetarian bread boat was excellent, as were the pesto/spreads we ordered to start. And the white Georgian wine was like nothing I’d had before. The owner was warm and eager to share about his country. I’d recommend to anyone—well, anyone who isn’t celiac or dairy free.
Bread Boat is the real thing. No gimmicks, no Instagram-bait plating, just genuinely excellent Georgian food executed with care in an unassuming Austin spot that most people are still sleeping on. The khachapuri is textbook — blistered, puffy dough with the right amount of char, loaded with molten cheese, a runny egg, and butter you fold in until the whole center becomes this rich, glossy mess you tear into with the crust. The herb finish and pepper keep it from going one-dimensional, and the sauce on the side adds a nice kick of acidity to cut through the richness. The honey cake is a sleeper. Layers are thin and tender, the crumb coating has a toasty nuttiness, and it’s balanced — sweet without being cloying. Don’t skip it. Whether you’re hungover, heartbroken, deep in the Sunday scaries, or just want to eat something that’s actually worth your time — this is the move. Get here before the rest of Austin figures it out, because once they do, good luck getting a table.
I was looking for new exciting restaurants to have lunch yesterday when I stumbled upon Bread Boat, the pictures looked tempting so we went, it was amazing, the beef khachapuri was very tasty, just the right balance of cheese, beef, egg butter and bread, you also have to get the trio pate platter, they are still not fully finished preparing for the opening, you can consider it a soft opening, but it was very clean and organized, they didn't have high chairs for young children but that was okay, I am sure they will have some with the grand opening. I can't wait to come back!
I have always wanted to try a Georgian bread boat and these did not disappoint! Very rich and flavorful. High quality ingredients. Tastes super homemade. And just a fun thing to eat. Also a nice way to break up the food monotony in Austin! This place is clean, and all the staff are friendly. Great addition to the neighborhood. I will definitely be going back!

Simply insane! Anyone who has never eaten real Georgian food must come urgently. As someone who has been to Georgia several times, the flavors are incredibly accurate! We enjoyed it like crazy.

Georgian delicacy on a plate: Individually crafted bread boats and pies, made to order with love. Everything is homemade, and packed with flavor. For the gluten-free people, like me, there is a savory meat stew that slays!
The shape of the Bread Boat is really cute! Presentation is also well done with the garnish and wooden board. Other than that, I do regret spending $18 on the Herbed Chicken Boat. The texture of the dough was really chewy, akin to Play-Doh. And the protein was below average tasting. It just didn’t have much flavor or anything to it. Forced myself to finish it since I don’t like wasting food and money. I’ve had better tasting dishes at this price point. Disappointing overall.
