Very cute little spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Was greeted kindly by their host and was taken care of by Barclay. She was very attentive and made great recommendations I wish I took a picture of my food. Tried their happy hour menu Crab Ragoons but the real star was the Lobster Grilled Cheese. The ice cream next door has great prices and is refreshing
Excellent service and delicious Lobster Roll- had the Connecticut. Clam Chowder was amazing. Went for a birthday and they made the experience extra special with a complimentary personal key lime pie for dessert. Highly recommend
They offer delightful seafood dishes. We definitely had the best Lobster roll away from Maine. A delicious combination of succulent lobster meat, perfectly toasted buns, and a nice blend of seasonings, making it a must-try for seafood enthusiasts. The restaurant's inviting atmosphere and attentive service further enhances the dining experiences. Loved how they tried to set up the coastal Lobster traps theme for their restaurant design and look. Would definitely visit again.
Really enjoyed our visit! The weather was nice enough in the evening to sit on the patio. We visited since they had a new playground for our toddler and it did not disappoint, although it's probably better for 3yrs and up. They gave him complimentary goldfish that kept him at the table a bit longer than most times we go out to eat. Food was good! Bread for the fish sandwich, crab and grilled cheese were all different and ALL great! Sauces were too. Definitely will be a go-to place for us when we want a family-friendly outing.
No words can accurately describe the joy that I experienced dining at Garbo's. The lobster and crab rolls are both top-notched. The mac and cheese is a bit different than i am used to but still pretty tasty. What sets them apart is their dessert options, as this banana pudding is the best in the Austin area which is why they earned my "Certified Mad Good" rating
Really nice place! Food is excellent and service is just as good. Went for the second time today. The smoked fish dip is delicious, and the lobster rolls didn’t disappoint. Bruce has been our waiter both times and is extremely friendly and good at his job. Super helpful and attentive. He definitely made the experience what it was. Will be back again many times.
Absolutely outstanding!! Their seafood is fresh, and delicious. Their menu is different from other restaurants we have visited, we really liked it. Our waitress/bartender was excellent, answering all questions we had about the food, and most importantly we felt welcomed. Thank you Cassandra and Garbos.
BEST lobster rolls I have ever had in my life ! I got the Connecticut Roll, an oyster, and a caviar bump. They aren’t skimpy on the lobster at all and it was reasonably priced. Was my first time in Austin and really wanted to try Garbos. Service was good, atmosphere was very warm and friendly. Host (Jizele, hope I’m spelling it right ! ) was so sweet and nice. We loved her. Anyway, if you’re visiting Austin and love lobster, check out Garbos!
You know that feeling when you get something so good you're still thinking about it the next day. You're at work and your mind starts wandering and realize you've glazed over and you're daydreaming about the night before? Garbos is like that except, they'll still respect you in the morning and you can tell your coworkers all about it. The lobster roll trio is to die for. This time around was the seasonal hatch chili roll. Whoa mama. They've got outstanding New Hampshire fresh oysters. Even the burger is top knotch.
Wellllll Austin I found a place for Seafood that I absolutely LOVE LOVE!!! I had the Connecticut Lobster roll with fries and Shel'frozen lemonade and tried not to leave a crumb! The Lobster was cooked perfectly and very fresh tasting, not too much season so you can really enjoy the lobster!!!! The fries we so good I ate the whole bowl FIRST! (nothing special just well cooked and seasoned!) Then I had the Amuse Bouche as an taster and I can honestly take that home to go!!!! Lastly the frozen lemonade was just like I like, tart with a little sweet.. Great job Mitchell and crew!!!
First-time visitors, now forever fans! We’ve been wanting to visit Garbo’s to support our dear friend who works here, and we’re so glad we finally made it—our only regret is not coming sooner. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. Everyone was kind and attentive. Our server, Mitchell, gave great recs, and the bartender made our drinks perfectly. We sat outside and loved it—sunny, breezy, and relaxing. We ordered: • Clam chowder • Fresh salads • Oysters • Mini lobster rolls (a must-try) • Fried shrimp • Ice cream for dessert Everything was high quality and well-prepared. We were also impressed to see the owner actively involved on the floor, supporting the team—such a great sign of a well-run restaurant. For two people, our total (+ tip) was around $150, and it was absolutely worth it for the experience, service, and top-tier food. Shout out to Anna, Heidi, Caesar and the others who made our dinner so lovely! Highly recommend Garbo’s—whether you’re a local or just visiting, this place is a gem!
Authentic New England Heaven on Mopac! This is truly great, what I can only imagine as authentic New England-style seafood in Austin. Garbo's on Mopac is an absolute treasure, and my recent visit was nothing short of a 10/10 experience. We tried a bit of everything, and each dish was more impressive than the last. Here's the breakdown of our fantastic meal: * Smoked Fish Dip: We started with this, and it was the perfect introduction. It was creamy, perfectly smoky without being overpowering, and clearly made with high-quality fish. Served with crackers, it was a delicious and addictive appetizer that set a high bar for the rest of the meal. * Lobster Bisque: Simply divine. This is how lobster bisque is supposed to be. It was velvety smooth, incredibly rich, and had a deep, savory lobster flavor that warmed you to the core. Most importantly, it was loaded with generous, sweet chunks of actual lobster meat. I could have had a whole meal of just this. * Mac and Cheese Sticks: Pure, decadent genius. These were fried to a perfect golden brown, offering a satisfying crunch on the outside. The inside was a molten river of ultra-creamy, cheesy macaroni. It's the ultimate comfort food elevated to a new level. * Lobster Rolls: The main event, and they did not disappoint! We had to try both the Maine style (chilled, with a touch of mayo) and the Connecticut style (warm, drenched in butter) and their seasonal hatch chilli lobster roll 🤤. You honestly cannot go wrong with either. The lobster meat was unbelievably fresh, sweet, and piled high on a perfectly toasted and buttery roll. This is the real deal—it instantly transports you to a seaside shack on the East Coast. * Fish and Chips: Even a classic dish like this was executed flawlessly. The fish was flaky, moist, and tender, encased in a light, impossibly crispy batter that wasn't a bit greasy. The accompanying fries were seasoned perfectly and were the ideal companion. * Oysters: my wife is an oyster fanatic, this is the 1st time she's been offered a variety of choices. She decided to go with 2 different styles and she was really impressed. For the 1st time, she tried an oyster without including the lemon and was simply impressed by the fresh quality. We cannot wait to return. Everything about our visit was top-notch, from the quality of the ingredients to the friendly service. Garbo's is a gem, and they are knocking it out of the park. This is hands-down my new go-to for seafood in Austin. An enthusiastic and well-deserved 5 stars! We received the best service from Barclay. We can't say enough about the experience she provided. We felt like we were being served by family!
We were visiting our children in Austin and decided on a nice lunch out. Since lobster is my thing, I've been wanting to try Garbo's for some time. I follow them on instagram and am always salivating over the photos so we decided it was time to get some of our own photos. We went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. There was a small wait but not too long. I don't think there was anyone ahead of us but we had to wait for a table to open up. We were seated outside which was great and the weather was beautiful that day. My husband ordered the classic Lobster roll and 2 of the kids ordered the seasonal special lobster roll with hatch chili sauce. My other son loves fish and chips so he ordered that and I ordered the burger with lobster, egg and avocado. They definitely don't skimp on the avocado! But I can say I would have liked more lobster on it. We had just been in Boston and enjoyed many lobster rolls there and even had a lobster roll in Houston recently and they all seemed to be much larger and had tons more lobster. These lobster rolls were small in comparison but I guess it is not really fair to compare them to Boston Lobster Rolls. The lobster tasted very good and fresh so we were all satisfied. My son did think the beer battered fish had too much beer flavoring for him but he did eat the whole thing. The only thing I think we didn't really care too much for was the cole slaw. There was too much dressing and vinegar on it. I ordered the burger because I am trying to avoid too many carbs. I took the bun off and my kids ate the bun since it was a nice brioche bread. The interior of the restaurant was very charming. The service was good. My children said if only they were looking at a body of water instead of a big parking lot - it would have been better. Of course, the bill was pretty high - but we were eating lobster. That is expected. I am sure we will be back again.
I had heard of the Garbo’s lobster food truck but had actually never tried the food. I went with some friends to the restaurant (the old Opal Divine off Mopac where Fry’s Electronics used to be) and was impressed with the boat vibe. The food was pretty good, a little pricey though. But the fish n chips special was where it’s at. I also tried the lobster bisque and we got a lobster roll and a burger. I think I’d go for the Connecticut lobster roll next time, with warm lobster on the sandwich, or maybe a crab cake. Go check out Garbo’s.
Great food, wonderful relaxed atmosphere! Nice kids play area outside. It was a little limited for our almost 3 year old, but she still had a really good time and it let us relax a little. Portions were smaller than expected, but food quality was great. Portions were probably closer to what they SHOULD be compared to what we’re used to getting.
Update 2/8/2025: I've been going here for quite some time and of course the lobster rolls have gone up in price. I still really enjoy the food here. I really do believe that the food is fresh and tasty. This location that they have has a really good ambiance and even a playscape for the little ones. Original Post: Tasty lobster rolls and great service. If you are in the mood for lobster rolls, shrimp or oysters I would highly recommend this place.
I love sitting out on the patio when it’s this nice out! I enjoyed an early dinner here and was pleasantly surprised by the $3 oyster special they had going on. My partner and I shared the following: Fish and chips: 5/5 Dare I say these are the best fish and chips I’ve had in austin? Honestly though, I love how the fish is lightly battered and so flaky! It’s also perfectly seasoned and a very generous portion. On Tuesdays, this plate goes for $14! Connecticut lobster roll: 5/5 Buttery goodness. I loved the toasted roll and the fresh lobster! This is pretty filling. We didn’t love the jalapeño Cole slaw unfortunately as it was a bit bland. Raw Oysters: 5/5 These oysters were huge and so so fresh! I also really appreciate how cleanly each oyster is prepared and you won’t get little shell bits in there. Frozen lemonade: 5/5 Super refreshing and the perfect sweetness!
We really enjoyed ourselves here. I don’t eat fish so I got the burger and it was so good! Their garlic aoli was really good as well! They serve Cape Cod chips which are my favorite and they have an ice cream truck on property too. My boyfriend enjoyed both the main lobster roll and the spicy tuna roll.
Wow, where do I start! FOOD IS OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!! Service was great!!! Drinks were amazing!!!!!!!!! I order the special that they have on Tuesday, which consist of Fish & Chips! It was $12, but on the menu it goes for $22. During these times I consider that a steal! It was an very generous portion, and came out nice and hot. If you want amazing sea food, Garbo’s is the spot! Thanks for all of your hard work during this times, your staff and kitchen is killing it!
My fiancé and I visited Garbos for lunch this past weekend and had the Maine Lobster Roll with Caviar. 🦞 The lobster roll was absolutely delicious, and the addition of the caviar elevated the flavor to a whole new level. The service was great, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, making it a perfect spot for a laid-back lunch. Highly recommend! 😋🔥
Wow. This was my first experience at Garbo's and I tried two different types of Oysters on their Tuesday special. I had to try this amazing Lobster Bisque which was unlike any I have ever tried. Now the "Maine" course came... I tried both the Maine and Connecticut Lobster rolls... these things hit the spot. I learned that this isn't just lobster tail. This is claw and knuckle meat. Whole different texture and taste. If you're not a fan of Lobster Tail, give Claw and Knuckle a try! Each roll includes 4 to 5 Lobsters worth of meat, so think about that before you say "this is too pricey". Don't be cheap when you expect quality food and quality service with an atmosphere to match. Thank you Garbos for the great experience. Mary Beth was our server and treated us right!
I drive by this place every day, imagining lobster rolls dancing their merry way into my mouth. I finally went in and Garbo's did not disappoint! I expected something far different judging from the outside. The decor was themed appropriately, wait staff was friendly, and the food-- oh man, the food! Everything proportioned perfectly, presented beautifully, and tasted magnificently! Garbo's is a gem in an inconspicuous location, but it's definitely worth your while! My wife and I will be coming back again for sure!
If you're craving some classic fish & chips, go to Garbo's. So good and the portion size is HUGE. Perfectly golden brown and crispy fish as seen in the photo. If only I could eat it all but it's definitely big enough to share. Also if you haven't tried their Lobster Roll, you're missing out. And if you're looking for something a bit lighter, try the lobster grilled cheese sandwich. Holy cow, it's delicious. My fiancé ordered it and only let me try a little. I had to beg for a tiny bite because she didn't want to share. After our main entrée, our very sweet waitress (blonde hair, soft spoken, super awesome, sorry don't remember your name!) asked like every server asks if there's any room for dessert. And like always we said we were stuffed but she persisted. She explained how this seasonal mango pie is life changing. LIFE CHANGING. She had me at mango. She said to imagine a key lime pie but with mangoes. It was too hard to describe she said. My fiancé gave me the green light. The diet (what diet) is on hold. We order it. It arrives and oh my gawd, it was indeed life changing. It had the texture of key lime pie but packed full of mango flavor goodness. I highly highly recommend it if it's still available. You won't be disappointed. Just unbutton your jean's top button and you'll be fine.
SO SO SO YUMMY! the lobster was oh so tender, and the portions were perfection. They make so much in house which is a huge plus. The ambiance of the restaurant is so lovely and relaxing. The service was superb, from the host to our server everyone was so welcoming. Also, we never went without a full beverage but never felt bothered by our server. We will certainly be back!
$$$ - This is now our favorite seafood restaurant! 2nd time going to Garbo’s with no reservation. Each time didn’t wait more than 15min to be seated and this was over the weekend. Started with a couple of Bloody Mary’s, xtra spicy. Connecticut roll and Maine roll equally delicious! Served on a crunchy buttery roll with a good size portion of lobster. The side of jalapeño slaw has a super light jalapeño taste, right amount of mayo with a nice crunch. As an appetizer ordered the Brussels sprouts. Nice n crunchy and not overly sweet topped with crispy shallots. Everything was nicely presented. Be ready to throw down some big bucks but worth it!
I love this place! This is long overdue review. I took my friend here for the first time. They ended up moving us to make accommodations for a larger table of people. But they totally made up by giving us free dessert and the owner came over to say hello! She is so down to earth. The hostess was also super sweet young lady. I love the food it's always delicious and fresh! It literally tastes like they just caught your food. Cannot wait to go back. I love an owner who is personable and kind. So I spread the word to all my customers. I have my own business also and I always recommend they go to Garbo's
Came for an early Father’s Day lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The design is simple and reflects the east coast fishing theme. I enjoyed the family history they incorporated into the restaurant. Gives it a genuine personality. The lobster roll and fish/chips was great! Being from Hawaii, I’m used to great seafood but this was completely different. Blew my taste buds away! Will return to take advantage of their specials. 🤙🏽
New favorite place for clam chowder in Austin. It was perfectly creamy and tasty. I think it had bacon bits on top and those added a little bit of crunch. Lobster rolls were good but not great. They came with a generous portion of fries. Burger was pretty standard. The service was really quick and friendly. I did show up without a reservation on a Saturday evening and the wait was about 30 min for a table of three. They had a cozy seated waiting area so that was a nice touch.
If you’re looking for a venue to host your next party, look no further! We had our Christmas party at Garbo’s and it was just fantastic! The restaurant has a lovely patio which was perfect given the warm December weather. The restaurant and private dining room was superbly decorated for our party…it was warm and inviting and really felt like we were hosting a party at home. The food was absolutely delicious…our fave?…the lobster rolls of course!! The craft cocktails were delicious…mixed and served to perfection. Thrilled that we were able to meet the Garbo girls…their kindness, and hospitality made our evening a very memorable one. Can’t wait to come back and try the other great seafood options on the menu!!
Went to Garbos for the first time. I ordered a salad 🥗 which contained strawberries, apple shrimp kale, feta cheese, pecans. The salad was absolutely delicious and fresh. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautifully designed. The atmosphere is calming and a great place to eat. They have an outside patio where there is an area for kids to play connect 4. At the end of the meal you can order ice cream on a sheet of paper with a pencil. The ice cream was delicious as well
Always good. Daily specials and generous happy hour are awesome. Crab cakes and the lobster rolls are good treats. Excellent staff make each visit special.
I've passed by this place for over a year, finally decided to stop in, the inside looks much better than I was expecting! The lobster grilled cheese was phenomenal, so was the Brussel sprouts! The fish and chips could have used a bit more flavor but the rest of our food items were great!
We were excited to be here. The ambiance and service were great. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip with crab for starters, and that was fantastic! Then, we ordered the lobster boil, and the lobster was overdone and rubbery. Clams were decent. The potatoes were under done. The shrimp was spoiled and tasted of ammonia. We had high hopes, and perhaps we'll be back. Every place has its ups and downs. Second chances are sometimes redemption. Update: 3⭐️ rating changed to 5⭐️ rating. We made it back, and the food was great this time, as was the service! They really turned it around and were extremely apologetic for our previous experience. To be clear, we didn't order the whole lobster this time. We ordered a lobster roll and the fish and chips. Both were amazing. I also highly recommend the smoked Mahi dip. Give Garbo's a shot, and I'm sure you'll be delighted.
Love it here! Before this I’ve only ever gotten food from their food truck but was finally able to stop in at the restaurant. Good service, great food. The calamari was good and the lobster rolls were delicious as always and at a reasonable price. Be sure to stop at Connors Creamery ice cream stand before you leave!
I’ve been here a few times to get Conner’s creamery ice cream but this was my first time eating here. I was blown away. The quality of the food was outstanding. The drink selection was awesome. From the moment we walked in we were treated with such kindness. The host was joking around with my daughter and complimenting her stuffed animal. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive and gave such thoughtful recommendations. The whole restaurant, including the restrooms, were absolutely spotless. Even the outdoor area and tables were somehow not sticky as outdoor tables tend to be. The play area is fenced and my daughter loved it. We will absolutely be heading here more!
Garbo’s was recommended to me while I was staying nearby in Austin. I sat on the patio and was served immediately. I ordered the Lobster Grilled Cheese, which had bacon and generous pieces of lobster in the sandwich. I enjoyed this sandwich and the fries so much I thought about it the entire drive home. I will be eating here again!

Had several different choices of lobster rolls and all delicious. Sides yummy too. My son got the burger and liked it too. Great friendly service. Pricey as lobster tends to be.
The lobster roll was SO delicious. Our waiter was also very friendly. The side Cesar salad was an absolute amazing addition
I’ve been to Garbo’s several times and honestly, I really enjoy the place. The atmosphere is great, and Carlos, our server, has always been incredibly attentive—service is consistently top-notch. That said, my main issue with the restaurant is the pricing. For such a casual spot, it feels excessively expensive, especially considering the portion sizes. The fried calamari were very small: definitely not a shareable appetizer, which is usually expected for that type of dish. The smoked fish dip was delicious, though I do wish the bread had been toasted a bit more to balance out the texture. They also have an outdoor park area, which is great if you’re coming with kids or spending time with family. Overall, great lobster rolls and a great place with great service but the value could be improved.
Garbo’s is known for their New England-style lobster. We usually get the lobster rolls when we go, but this time we tried the whole lobster (1 for $40 or 2 for $65) with a side of toast (8/10). It was a cool experience and very fresh. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts (5/10) — they were a bit cold and tasted burnt; and the fried calamari (6/10). The food is overall good especially if you’re craving lobster or lobster rolls. The vibes are laid-back and coastal and they also have a nice outdoor patio. Will definitely return to try something else on the menu.
Here is a polished and engaging food review based on your experience. I have organized it to highlight your satisfaction with the lobster roll while providing constructive feedback on the fish and chips. Title: Incredible Lobster Roll & Great Vibes – Just One Small Catch! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5 Stars) I stopped by specifically for the Lobster Roll, and it did not disappoint! Since I'm focusing on high-protein options lately, this was the perfect choice. Every bite was a dream—the lobster was fresh, succulent, and perfectly seasoned. It’s easily the star of the menu. The Good: • The Lobster Roll: Absolutely loved it. The quality of the meat and the preparation were spot on. • The Atmosphere: The vibe here is fantastic. It’s a great spot for a date or a relaxed meal with friends. The Not-So-Crispy: The only downside was the Fish and Chips. While the flavor was there, the texture fell short. By the time the server brought it to our table, the batter had already lost its crunch and went pale/soggy. I suspect the food container might be trapping steam, which is a pity because a crispy crust is everything for this dish!
In the pictures: Ceviche & Maine lobster roll. Pros: - Easy parking, lots of outdoor seatings, also has a children's playground. - Food was delicious. Cons: - Kind of expensive. The lobster rolls are pretty small. - The frozen lemonade is a scam. It's $6 but in a tiny little paper cup. I have never seen any non-alcoholic drink this tiny in Texas. So unless you really want to waste the money.... Will want to try their oyster special (I don't remember if it's Tuesday or Wednesday evening...but $2 each seems worth trying.)
Garbos Lobster has a new location for it's food truck at 626 N. Lamar where the old Counter Cafe used to be. They are operating take away only from the parking lot until they can open in the restaurant space. We visited for lobster rolls and a lobster salad and took our order to go. The food was great, really great, but we were surprised at the total bill. In small print on the sign, it said all orders would include a 15% gratuity. When asked to sign the receipt, we were given the screen to add a tip. After questioning the amount, we were told about the add on. Thumbs up for the excellent food. Thumbs down for that business practice.
I had a chance to visit this place recently and was pleased to find that they had some really good food. It wasn't very busy when I visited and the staff were very attentiveand friendly. I ordered a lobster 🦞 roll (which was awesome) w/ side salad, a cheeseburger 🍔 with a fried egg 🍳 and decent amount of buttered 🧈 lobster 🦞 on it (which seemed like an excessive toppings but it was really good) w/fries, a cod sandwich 🥪 with fries, and an order of fried shrimp 🍤 w/ fries 🍟. Everyone really liked all food items with the exception of the fries (chose another side if you aren't into harder fries). Great place to visit if you don't need to keep a close eye on your budget.
It's probably been over a year since I've been here and it's good to know the quality of the food is still the same. NGL, the lobster roll is really good but it's freaking expensive so I skipped it this visit and decided on the fish and chips. Well, I was not disappointed with the fish and chips, and my wallet didn't cry out in pain. The fish portion is huge if u get the regular size, you can now get the order in a smaller size now, too. The fries are really crispy and well seasoned. It was all very good and spent just under $20 without a beverage. I do miss the lobster roll, so I'll have to get it next time. I definitely recommend this place for their food and service.
We've been to Garbo's a few times in the past and I think their Connecticut lobster roll is amazing! I will say I was disappointed on my last trip as they skimped on the lobster. I asked the server about it and he said they weigh it, so every sandwich should get the same amount. Unfortunately mine didn't. The Brussels sprouts are really good and we do like the fried calamari. I ordered a watermelon margarita on the last trip and it was good too, although it's more watery and not as much pulp as most watermelon margaritas. The place is expensive, so you should know that going in. However... The lobster rolls are delicious! This location has a really nice place for the kids to play outside. They've recently added some turf, and no longer have the tire fillings. I've previously rated a five-star, but the last lobster roll fell way below expectations.
It is good! The lobster bisque was really good but a small cup for $16 is a little too much if it is not a white cloth table service. Bowl was $24!. Anyway - it is good seafood. I had the Connecticut lobster roll, crispy, well presented, just the right amount of spices. The place is beautifully decorated for the holidays but the salon is one of a diner feel. Nothing wrong with that, just the prices are on a different dimension... I would recommend you try it at least once!
$$-$$$ My wonderful Mom and Sister, treated me to a birthday lunch at Garbo's. And, it was good. In spite of the price, my Sister's lobster grilled cheese was exquisite! My Mom's fried shrimp and my grilled shrimp baskets with salads (instead of fries) were good, but NOT exquisite. I didn't capture our entrees but I didn'tforget our desserts.
We were craving oysters for a long time and decided to have them at Garbo's which was relatively near from where we were at the moment. It is a nice place with plenty of tables to sit, either inside or outside. About the food, the lobster sandwich and the fried shirmps we ok. What took the show were the oysters which were REALLY GOOD! If you go there, the oysters are a must to have. In my opinion it is a little bit pricey but it is also a good option to try some seafood and more importantly, the OYSTERS!!
Area: 5/5 Presentation: 5/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 3/5 (almost everything is over $10, including kids burger) I saw this off of mopac a few times and the parking lot was always full and I thought I'd try it. Soapy P, sorry if that's not your name that's what was on the reciept, our server was super nice and well organized. The place was really well themed and had good incorporation of food trucks and a nice patio. My lobster bisque was really good and came with a whole lobster claw in it despite its high price. The lobster mac was also good. My father's blacked cod however was pretty bad. Very watery, laking seasoning and desperately needed salt. My mother's salad and roasted tomato soup was also good. I like the area but the prices should really be revised. I understand raising rates along major highways but 12 dollars for a kids burger and 24 for Mac and cheese with part of a lobster claw in it is pretty bad. I'll attach menu prices for people Interested, but for seeming like a casual place it's got prices like a Papadeaux for less slection and worse food. Also all cocktails are 12 dollars and up; the pinacolada was not work that as it also wasn't blended just on ice. Try if you'd like and don't mind the cost.
Had a decent time, sat indoors and received attentive customer service from staff! Food was fair, but lacked flavor. I’d definitely recommend intensifying the flavor of your food with their hot sauce! I’d buy a pack of that hot sauce in stores if I could! I ordered a fish burrito but I remember feeling underwhelmed after tasting the Mozzarella & Lobster sticks, as well. When I return, I’d try an item from the ‘Specials’ menu instead.
We came around lunch time and were seated very quickly. The service was quick. She was very helpful. I'm glad we decided on two things to share. The OG wrap was perfect! I'm torn on the Caesar wrap…

The service was great, the place was beautiful, the tables were clean! Over all a beautiful spot. But the food... was a little overhyped. It's good but was expecting a lottt more for the price.
We really enjoyed the spot. The food was delicious. The service was good and the ambience was what you would expect from a larger restaurant. There is plenty of parking here so it's easy to get to.…
I went to get lobster bisque The bisque was good but they put 1/2 of a claw in a 3 oz cup whole I had to dice it up. The bisque was seafoodie flavored the lobster pieces had no flavor at all a…
Went to Garbo’s with family. It wasn’t a busy night, so we were quickly seated. I had the fried calamari, chowder, and lobster roll. Good food. There was a flying shark in the house. I thi…

Very overpriced! The roll was good until I found 2 lobster shells in it! The music was so loud people had to scream to be heard. The service was just ok

All of us picked Garbo’s food truck and got seafood rolls. The lobster rolls were excellent and shrimp were very good. The trailer is not my favorite but worth another try.
First, Garbos is now at 12709 N. Mopac Expressway - and has been for awhile now. Excellent, very fresh seafood; but you’re looking at $18 for fish & chips and $22 for a lobster roll with fries. 6…
I had the maine lobster roll with a side salad today and I will say it was good. The lobster was VERY fresh and the mayo, etc was just right. The bun was toasted and quite tasted but it was a…
After driving by Garbo’s the hundredth time I finally dragged my boyfriend over for lunch. Upon entering we absolutely loved the vibe and decor. I instantly thought to myself that I’d definitely want to invite my friends and family here if I ever get the chance. We were seated instantly and the staff members were some of the nicest I’ve encountered in Austin. Everyone makes you feel right at home and welcomed. We ordered the crab roll, hot honey roll (seasonal I believe), and a clam chowder. The crab roll sounded delicious but surprisingly the crab itself was pretty flavorful (and we LOVE crab). It felt like such a waste of crab meat since we can only taste the bacon and cheese :( The hot honey wasn’t what we expected - the lobster pieces are fried. The hot honey was actually too sweet and it almost tasted like burnt candied lobster meat. I think deep frying the lobster ruined it as all we could taste was the batter and char. The meat itself looked good quality but that just made us feel like the seafood quality was ruined. Now the clam chowder was solid. It wasn’t anything special necessarily but still good. I would advise against ordering what we ordered and go for the Maine or Connecticut style lobster rolls instead. I think I’d come back and give Garbo’s a second try with the more classic rolls since the photos looks amazing. Will update this review accordingly! :)
Lobster rolls are good 50% of the time. Play area is nice. But the thing that blows my mind is the kids lemonade is $5 a pop, and literally the size of your pinky. I’m a value guy, and it blows my mind that a kids drink the size of your pinky is $5 a piece.🤯 I understand inflation but price gouging for a children’s drink is crazy.
I know most people love this place but I just didn't get it when I went for lunch today. I got the Connecticut roll with a house salad. The roll itself was not impressive at all. Especially for $18. The lobster was very chewy and not warm at all. The dominate flavor of the roll was the buttery, toasted bun. Maybe I should have gotten the Main lobster roll. Looks good in the pictures but overall I was quite disappointed in the lobster.
It seems like the place would be more for drinking then dining. The crab cakes were not too bad. There was a slight lack in flavor, though. The shrimp basket I got was pretty good! The shrimp were big and the fries were nice. I had lemonade and the price isn't worth it for the size. It's delicious, but it's a small glass.
Went here cause my friend's wife loves this place. It was an ok experience. Ambiance was really nice, service was standard, food was good, but a bit pricier than I'd like. I got 2 mini rolls and fries with a piña colada, with tip was 60 something. The 2 rolls were good, but not wow and definitely was still hungry after (also didnt feel a strong difference between the Maine and Connecticut Roll). The piña colada used pebble ice and wasn't blended (which the server did warn me about). The fries were probably the best part, their aioli was really good! They also have ice cream which i wanted to try cause I heard it's really good (conner's creamery) and had many options to customize, but no one else was getting ice cream and I already spent more than I wanted so I decided not to get any. Overall, price to enjoyability, I do wish the price was lower, but overall food was good and service was decent, no complaints would recommend if you like seafood (specifically lobster)
I was excited to try the food since I love seafood. It is a bit pricey for some of the stuff, I got an appetizer of lobster mozzarella which was 15$ but only got four pieces but not bad since it is lobster. I Got lemonade in a small 8oz cup and was told no refills, so in my opinion do not get since it was 6$. Then came the plates I got lobster Mac and cheese which was 24$ which lacked flavors I had to add salt and pepper, was also watery sadly. My boyfriend did like his shrimp basket though. Overall the ambience is good but the food has no flavor so if that’s what you enjoy then this place is for you!
We came here last night for our Christmas Eve dinner. It was just my husband and I and we did not make reservations but we showed up just before 5, when they open, and we were able to be seated right away. They had a limited menu due to the holiday. We ordered the Maine and Connecticut lobster rolls with fries. I didn't think the pricing was too much. It was about $22 for each lobster roll and it came with a side. The place I usually go to for a lobster roll charges $18 and it doesn't come with a side. I was disappointed though because the texture of the lobster was really chewy and the taste was fishy and not fresh. I think they should have shredded the lobster to give it better texture. We ordered the chocolate torte and some strawberry soft serve with nutella. My husband thought the torte was over priced but I really liked it, so I thought it was worth it. He loved the soft serve. The service we got was really good. Our server had us and a large table for the first part of the evening and I never felt like we waited very long for our food, water, or any service. Everyone was really friendly and the restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. We were really grateful to have somewhere fun to go to dinner on Christmas Eve. We will have to come back and try their menu when it is not limited and see if we have better luck with different menu items.
I wasn't too impressed with the lobster, specifically, the Lobster Mac and cheese. The lobster meat felt frozen and stringy + I was disappointed they were more of a small topping on the bacon Mac and cheese than integrated with the overall dish. The hot lobster roll tasted ok but nothing special to write home about. I did enjoy the gumbo but felt it was too thick as a soup and I've had better gumbo in Maryland. Oysters were sorta overpriced for the size of them, they were not as fresh when compared to other places in Austin (I'll refrain from naming here). I will say that the fish and chips are the star of the dinner with perfect texture and batter ratio. I would come back here again for fish and chips but not the others. @Susaleena.eats On IG to follow my adventures and food critiques.

My wife and I have been coming to Garbo's for several years. We took a break due to some personal stuff, but when we came back today.. whew.... We ended up getting fried to share as an appetizer. We got the lobster Mac as well as lobster bisque for meals. We also both got long island iced teas. I will start with saying that the food came out lukewarm, and not hot as expected. the bisque was somewhere between okay and good. It used to have a lot more flavor, but it wasn't necessarily unpleasant either. Just kind of there. The lobster Mac was... Atrocious, I'm sorry to say. The base for the Mac was extremely reminiscent of Velveeta, with nothing to cut it or turn it into a real cheese sauce. It was so thick, it was hard to swallow. It was very bland. It had a plastic-like flavor. The lobster was rubbery and did not seem fresh while it also had a strong fishy taste to it. My wife had to beg me not to eat it, even though we both feel very strongly about wasting food, because she was worried about the quality. We found several large pieces of shell left in both entrees.. moving onto the long island iced teas.. They were almost straight lemon juice with a touch of cola, and some rum. It was just barely drinkable for me. We had to add sugar and water it down just to bring it to long island lemonade levels just for my wife to be able to get it down... While I know inflation is a thing, I also want to point out that in conjunction with my previous points the cost has drastically increased since our last visit. $15 per barely drinking cocktail. $27 for a bowl of bisque, and $20 something for the Mac that we physically had trouble eating. The service was good. The fries were good. That's unfortunately about it. I don't know if there is new management or if quality standards have dropped as far as the prices have gone up, but we regretfully won't be returning after today's experience.
We came here for dinner, 3 of us, and we where seated right away. You have 2 options inside or outside seating. We decided to dine outside- and that was big mistake. It wasn’t super busy, but still took a long time for our server to come take our order. I came here specifically for oysters and I was so disappointed. Maybe it’s not season for oysters? Idk. Fried calamari tasted like bred. Over fried and super salty. Fish and chips where good. Mediocre and overpriced food, ok service. This place is a no for me.
Purchased 2 lobster rolls at the food truck at the Shady Llama down south. I can truly say I've never felt more ripped off in my life. $62 after tip for TINY servings... won't be back.
We live close to Garbo’s on Mopac and have always enjoyed stopping by for their delicious seafood. Yesterday, we ordered a lobster bisque bowl and a seasonal lobster roll for takeout. To our disappointment, we received only 2 pieces of crab meat in the bowl, despite paying $30. As frequent customers who usually dine in to savor their crab cakes, piña coladas, rolls, and oysters, we were particularly let down. This is our second experience with takeout from Garbo’s, and unfortunately, it left us very upset. While the food is undeniably tasty and flavorful, it feels overpriced for takeout orders. It seems that Garbo’s doesn't prioritize the quality of their to-go meals, which is truly disappointing for loyal customers like us.

So disappointing lobster roll. Barely any lobster meat and it was cold with a ton of mayonnaise. Terrible and expensive experience
I got there today with my son around 1:45 The food was ok, is definitely not a cheap place to handle you dirty silverware but i asked one of the ladies to changed this NO BIGGIE SOME TIMES HAPPENS the waitress was friendly and everything seems fine until you check the plates SURPRISE IS RUST UNDER THE FOOD, like i said everything was fine until you see this! Regardless how much i paid YOU CAN GUYS MADE PEOPLE SICK IS DISGUSTING, i requested to speak with the manager and his careless attitude give me so much to think about if the plate is like that imagine the kitchen! His response was THE MAJORITY OF OUR PLATES ARE NEW!! Are you kidding me the mistake is in your end and not even an apology? Come on you charge top monies and you cannot afford new plates, i definitely reporting this yo the state is ridiculous! You can made somebody very sick with a low immune system!
I’m from the East Coast, so I admit my standards are high — but this was just plain disappointing. The host was lovely and welcoming, but that was the highlight. We waited over 10 minutes before being offered water, and then were told our server would be with us “shortly.” I asked about the lobster roll, and our waitress told me it came with 4–4.5 oz of lobster. What arrived was maybe 3 oz, and it tasted like pre-packaged claw meat — nothing close to what was promised. The roll itself was warm and decent, but that’s about all I can say. The fries were flavorless, dry, and looked like the bottom-of-the-bag scraps. What really surprised me was the pricing. I’ve eaten here before when the lobster roll was $18, and now it’s $38 with far less quality and value. I don’t mind paying for great food — but this wasn’t it. What left the worst impression was the bartender, who was loudly venting and swearing behind the bar about coworkers not helping her. It was constant, unfiltered, and unprofessional — especially in a family-friendly place with kids around. It’s places like this that have contributed to the shift in Austin’s culture — overpriced, under-delivering, and coasting on reputation. The warmth and integrity that once defined Austin dining has been replaced with disorganized service, inflated prices, and unbothered staff. Between the food, the energy, and the overall experience, I genuinely don’t see myself returning.
I really wanted to like this place… Ordinarily, I love fish and chips. However, this place has made me reconsider one of my favorite dishes. The fish arrived warm, not hot. The batter was doughy and the fish was flavorless and dry! The chips were not fresh, likely had been sitting for a while. At 24 dollars, I had high expectations… Let’s just say, I would have been better off at Long John Silvers. If you’re thinking about coming here, DON’T!
