We first found this place during Christmas holidays. Originally our out of town family wanted to go to Sushi fever, but they couldn't accommodate reservation of 14 people. So happy we found this place. Everything we ordered was great. Our favorite is ordering land & sea sushi! Highly recommend
Great a little gem found in the gateway marketplace. Mid-tier prices for excellent cuisine along with exceptional sushi artisans. The fish is fresh unlike many places that may charge the same or more. Really like the house garlic oil on the tuna nigiri, excellent! Owner is very friendly, too!
Really impressed with the nigiri and the speciality rolls! We have been in Austin for 6 years and haven’t found a solid value sushi spot… it’s always been lucky robot or even more upscale but haven’t had much luck in the moderate priced sushi restaurants. Not only was it well priced it was super high quality nigiri and sashimi. Service was great! We will be back!
Very quaint and peaceful restaurant. The booth was comfortable and the server was polite and attentive. We came for a late lunch so they were not busy, but everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. The bento box and ramen were well made. The sushi was top notch we had the Yummy and Mango rolls. We devoured everything. Definitely a great place for sushi when visiting Austin.
This place is a hidden gem OMG!!! 💎 The food was delicious. We were seated immediately, and the ambiance was so chill. 👌 recommend it to all! The wagyu so good! The rolls were perfect! The wife loved the mushroom soup. Oh and definitely get the in house cheese cake. We ordered alot more lol and I can't remember but everything was amazing.
Great seafood place in Texas! Never thought I would get decent sushi place while visiting in Texas, but yes I really liked the Mero seabass here. Sashimi sampler is also great for its price! Food did take a bit to comeout but i guess they were cooking it from scratch. Would come here again!
Really solid sushi restaurant. Although it’s Japanese, the waiter and the hostess were speaking Mandarin Chinese when deciding what table to put us at (totally fine, just outside my expectation). The atmosphere feels nice and relaxed. My wife got the bento box with eel and I got two types of rolls; Texas and Philadelphia. Really tasty!
This is my first time came here. The atmosphere of the restaurant is clean. The food is very fresh. There are many menus and it is very delicious. Price reasonable The staff is very nice service mild and good recommend food for us. Also restroom is clean. I recommend it for those who like Japanese food. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Enjoyed this place while visiting Austin on Sunday afternoon and it was a great choice! Seated without wait, excellent and friendly service with a smile. We ordered several sashimi and sushi roll dishes, everything was fresh, flavorful and with great presentation! Chicken udon stir fry was tasty too and of ample serving! The salad lacked a little flavor but the miso soup broth was delicious and tasty. The restaurant has a comfortable ambient feeling, clea and fresh. Clean restrooms and ample parking with plenty of shade. Highly recommended, will be back whenever in Austin.

We ordered a 32-piece sashimi special, and it was delicious. The fish was fresh and it was a good variety. It would have been nicer if it didn't take 2 hours for us to finish our meal because the food was trickling out.
IchiUmi is a great spot for Japanese food, especially during lunch when you can enjoy their reasonably priced bento boxes. The tuna tower is a standout dish—definitely top-notch and worth trying. The service was okay; I had to flag the server down a few times to get water refills. The space is spacious, though it feels a bit dim and could use a more updated look. Overall, a solid choice for good Japanese cuisine at a fair price.
I ordered the California Roll, Squid Teriyaki, and Seafood Udon. Out of the three, the California Roll was the best. I was a bit disappointed to find that the seafood wasn’t very fresh—the squid and the seafood in the udon weren’t up to par. The atmosphere inside was pretty comfortable, and the staff were friendly, but they really need to work on the freshness of the squid.

My wife and I went back to Ichi Umi Sushi, formerly known as Haru, while visiting family during the holidays and unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. When this place was Haru it was hands down our favorite sushi spot in Austin. We craved it constantly and talked about it even after moving to California. The rolls were always flavorful well balanced and memorable which made this return visit something we were genuinely excited about. Right away the menu felt overwhelming. It used to be simple and now it is extremely long and difficult to navigate. But the bigger issue was the food. We ordered several of our old favorites including the Wildflower, Black Widow, Crush on You, Foxy Lady, and Redwood rolls. The Redwood and Foxy Lady were okay but still not what we remembered. The rolls were noticeably smaller than before and lacked the depth of flavor they once had. The Black Widow, Wildflower, and Crush on You were the biggest letdowns. The sauces and spicy mayo were overpowering and in some bites overly spicy to the point where you could barely taste the fish. The balance that made these rolls special before just was not there. The Wildflower in particular used to be incredible with its mix of mango tuna salmon soybean paper and orange miso sauce. This time it completely fell flat. The Crush on You was inconsistent from bite to bite with either no goat cheese or too much of it dominating the roll. I am not sure if ownership changed or if something else happened but this no longer feels like the Haru we loved. That was honestly the hardest part. This place held a lot of great memories for us and it was disappointing to see such a drop in quality. I hope they can find their way back to what made this spot special because it truly used to be one of the best sushi spots in Austin. Unfortunately this visit just missed the mark for us.
Came here because I wanted chicken Katsu & the amount of good reviews this place had. Was disappointed that they said they didn’t offer happy hour because it was New Year’s Eve. We ate there anyway. I hit the chicken katsu, my son got the chicken udon noodles & we got a fried sushi roll that was $16.00. When we saw the size of the fried sushi, we thought it was a type of sushi that you put in a bento box. It was So SMALL. Six pieces that were as wide as a woman’s thumb. It was not good at all. The chicken in the Udon noodle dish was dry and flavorless. I did like my chicken katsu. The waitress was nice. Overall, I would NOT recommend this place but I would highly recommend Sushi Zoa in Hutto,Tx.
I really wanted to like this place. I’ve passed by it so many times and was excited to finally give it a try. To start on a positive note, the restaurant itself is nicely done and has a great atmosphere. My server was amazing! Attentive, friendly, and the food came out at a good pace. The soup was warm and delicious, though I wasn’t a big fan of the salad. I ordered the sushi combo roll and sashimi. The roll had good potential, but the spicy mayo completely overpowered it—it was way too mayo-forward, and most bites were just too heavy. As for the sashimi, the fish was okay but a bit too thickly cut. If it had been super fresh, I wouldn’t have minded, but it was a bit tough to eat and I ended up not finishing my plate. Fish can definitely be tricky, so I’m hoping it was just an off day. Maybe I’ll give it another shot sometime down the road!
I ordered take out and everything tasted bad.\n\nThe seaweed salad tasted like rotten fish, calamari was rubbery, and the soft shell crab sushi was edible and not good.
Ambiance: Very underwhelming. Jazz music that plays slightly too loud, and Italian decor? Very dated. Additionally very dirty. The water did not taste right and another patron even yelled out that …
I’m genuinely so concerned about why this happened?? I don’t know whether to laugh or be upset, but instead of two sake rolls, I got one roll and a balled up piece of plastic that seemingly has been shaped as a piece of sushi. I come here so often and I spent a lot of money on my delivery. What happened??
