The food slaps hard here. Went for the first time on 12/23. Here are some helpful tips: 1) The place comes highly recommended for good reason. 2) …everything I ate was amazing, except for the Shanghai eggrolls. They can’t all be winners! But if you ask for the hot mustard, you will love it anyway. 3) safe bets if it is your first time - Hunan beef, Mongolian beef, beef and broccoli, lo mein combo. …Do not “sleep on” the hot and sour soup. It makes a strong first impression while you wait for your meal. 🍜 💪 4) they have a semi private dining area available if you would like more privacy and less ambient noise. 5) The staff was fantastic. They know what they’re doing, and they have a really good system in place, where they all support each other to make sure that you’re taken care of quickly and frequently. This is not often the case at “other restaurants.” 6) bonus points if you speak Mandarin or Cantonese. Both are widely circulated here amongst patrons and staff. 🇨🇳 🇭🇰 Please like if you found this review to be helpful. 🍻 …it lets me know if I should keep doing these.

Went there on a weekday for dinner and loved the food, ambiance, service, great lighting and quick service. Mentioning the dishes we ordered in the order of my preference. This is my new favorite restaurant in Austin. I hope that the standard remains same. Spicy Sichuan wontons, Pork and Shrimp Shumai, Shanghai soup dumpling, Shrimp hargao, steamed bbq pork bun (I found it a bit sweet but others loved it), chicken feet (I didn’t try it but others liked it).

New Fortune has become our go-to restaurant every week, and it never disappoints. The Hong Kong–style typhoon lobster was absolutely outstanding—perfectly seasoned, aromatic, and full of flavor. Their dim sum is consistently fresh, delicious, and authentic, with every dish arriving hot and beautifully prepared. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is comfortable whether we’re stopping in for a quick meal or a longer family dinner. It’s rare to find a place that delivers this level of quality and consistency week after week, but New Fortune truly does. Highly recommended to anyone who loves great seafood, top-notch dim sum, and a reliably excellent dining experience! #toddlerfriendly

Hi guys. Thanks for reading my review. We are so happy we tried the New Fortune Restaurant. They did an amazing job when they were situated in China Town. The move to Cedar Park didn’t change the experience. It was fire! Atmosphere: Welcoming, spacious, clean. Staff: Friendly, helpful, engaging, attentive, polite, courteous. Food: For those that haven’t had Dim Sum, it’s like small shareable plates. You get to try many different dishes at their best. They were amazing! The food was well-prepared and portion was great for the price. They have great variety to choose from. Highly recommend. Will return.

Went a few months back and it was amazing! While it might be a bit expensive It makes up for large portions! It’s by far my favorite Chinese place I’ve had so far, I plan on coming back a lot soon.

So glad New Fortune is back and it's closer to me. We go for the dim sum but of course we always order something from the regular menu. This time, we ordered Salt n Pepper Shrimp and Szechuan Style Green Beans along with a few dim sum items.

Visiting Austin, and surprisingly found nice restaurant serving Cantonese food. Food is super. Service is warm and friendly. This place is huge that we don’t have to wait or reserve ahead of time. Will come again.

Very fast service! We visited on Sunday morning at 12pm and only waited for 10-15 minutes. The cart service is great, so many options to choose from, from savory to sweet. The staff was very attentive. Our hot tea and water was always full and the completed dishes were cleaned away immediately. 10/10 definitely recommend, great place to enjoy a meal with the family and try multiple different dishes at a time. I'll definitely be back! Top dishes at our table: salt and pepper shrimp (we ordered it 3 times) and the egg custard tarts!

We went there last weekend. The official opening time was 10:30 but it actually opened earlier. The front desk said that they open when the kitchen is ready. We (party of three) got there at 10:20ish and waited for 2-3 minutes to be seated. Our table was in the corner so it wasn’t easy to get the carts, but the servers were pretty nice and helpful. The food was phenomenal!!! The beef tripe really went beyond my expectation and others were also great flavor. Best dim sum in Austin without any doubt. Price was also reasonable, compared to some other dim sum places in town. I’ll certainly be back.

Better than it's predecessor, New Fortune on Lamar. Service is excellent, food is divine, atmosphere is amazing. We went to the Lamar location almost every weekend, for years until it's closing. We were sad to see that happen for such an awesome place. We have missed two weekends since the soft opening of New Fortune 2. We are here for the Grand Opening tonight and I wish more people were here to celebrate this place, the only real cart service Dim Sum in Austin. You MUST try this place if you haven't!

So happy that New Fortune Chinese Restaurant has reopened and is a bonus for us; it is a lot closer than their original Chinatown location. We are on Mother's Day evening with no wait and they did have a la carte dim sum available on their menu. The dim sum was delicious as always. We always love their flat rice noodles and the kids loved their sesame chicken. We had a little issue with getting service at the beginning, but when the manager was alerted he took great care of us! We look forward to our next visit and of course hitting the weekend dim sum carts in the near future.

Soft opening…no dimsum on weekday dinner. But had the Vietnamese noodle and the fish soup. Loved every dish we tried! My friend had told me her family tried to come twice but couldn’t get in on the weekend! We were lucky today we came after work! I’m loving Austin because of many authentic different dishes!

I recently visited the newly reopened New Fortune, a beloved Austin favorite that has found a new home. Let me tell you, the food was nothing short of amazing, and the vibe was wonderfully homey. One of the highlights was the dimsum cart, which we found out is only available on weekends. It was a treat to pick and choose from a variety of delicious items. Despite some unjustly low ratings on Google, our experience was fantastic, and New Fortune deserves much higher recognition. Among my favorites were the soup dumplings (an absolute must-have), sesame balls, and egg tarts, which made for two perfect desserts. The sticky rice with chicken wrapped in lotus leaf (a Cantonese version of 粽子), chicken feet, spicy wontons, and shumai were also delightful. Though the shumai wasn’t super hot from the cart and felt a bit hard, we still loved the flavors. The service was impressively fast, and the servers were friendly. We spent around $90-100, but we left feeling very full and satisfied. The price a little on the higher side. They also provide to-go containers, which is a nice touch. One thing to note is that parking can be challenging, especially during peak hours. We arrived on a Saturday about 30 minutes before closing at 2:30 PM and were seated immediately, which worked out perfectly for our party of two. Overall, New Fortune is a gem that deserves to shine brighter on the rating scale. Highly recommend for a delicious dimsum experience in Austin!

We visited New Fortune 2 the weekend they first opened, and again today. It feels like they are much better at handling customers and getting their dimsum carts circulating. Some staff are more blunt than others but honestly that's just authenticity to me. The quality of the food is still the best you will find in Austin! Both times we arrived 30 minutes before opening and were let in shortly to be seated without a wait. Just make sure your whole party is present when you get to the front of the line.

Even though it might need to wait for a long line, it’s totally worthy ❤️Delicious traditional dim sum and soybean pudding are all my favorites. Definitely highly recommended and can’t wait to come back soon.

Super unfortunate that this place has bad reviews but from what I read they are mostly from the soft opening. I recently went on a Saturday with one other friend at 1:30pm and we only waited about 20 minutes. We were immediately served . Everything was fresh and hot! If you wanted something that wasn’t in the carts, one of the servers walking around will gladly get it for you. My only complaint was The congee was cold but they made a new batch and it was delicious

I originally came in for dim sum, but I’ve been equally impressed with their entrées. The Shaking Beef, Pan-Fried Noodles with Seafood (Cantonese Style), and the General Tso’s Chicken are all standouts.

Delicious! Stopped by for brunch and surprisingly, it wasn’t packed. My husband and I have been searching for some good dim sum and we finally found it. Everything was so hot and fresh and very flavorful. Our server was very attentive to our needs, which made it even better. The dim sum carts kept coming around. So amazing! Definitely coming back when we’re in Austin!

New Fortune is back and they have brought their game of dim sum and all their tasty dishes back to NW Austin! The fact that they're right by my house and it's a walkable distance is even better than having been formerly at the N Lamar location. We stopped by Friday on their second day of business and opening things and goodness, were they busy. We were prepared for a wait, and ordering 15 dim sum dishes on weekdays from their all day dim sum menu was via menu but it took a good while. Of course if we had known it'd have been 2+ hours maybe it wouldn't have been such a huge order I would've put in, but I give them grace for the Austin Asian community being so thrilled and showing up with their pocket books and their loyalty for this household staple! My favs were def the bean curd, Crystal shrimp dumplings and shrimp balls! I'm so so excited that there is legit dim sum cart service options in proximity of North Austin, and lunch special options as well! Parking is abundant, the owners and service was friendly and they are working hard to make sure everyone is getting their noms and taking care of business! Can't wait to go back again after the hustle and bustle calms down from grand opening!

Absolutely the gold standard of Dim Sum! Beyond happy to know New Fortune is back, after being closed for nearly four years. I used to go to New Fortune after a night of drinking, and always appreciated their recovery food (Lol). The Location is now in North Austin, and is a nice restaurant compared to the previously had banquet hall. The food is still delicious, affordable, and worth it! They have the best Beef Chow Fun in Austin, hands down. Absolutely will be back for many times to come!

I have been to this place twice and I will be going back for a third, fourth, fifth, etc. I've tried almost every item on their dim sum list and there's no wrong choices. You'll have a sense of joy and contentment when you leave. Personally, I order everything except the bun options just because I'm not a big fan of bread. But their bun is very tasty! My favorites are their Shu Mai, steamed spare ribs, pan fried wonton, spicy Sichuan wonton, crystal shrimp, Shanghai soup, and the Szechuan style green beans. I haven't tried their entrees yet but that is happening next. I have my eyes on the live double lobster and the salt & pepper shrimp, but I'm sure I'll try everything over the next few weeks/months. Great restaurant! I highly recommend.

I went here for dinner with a friend and we both really enjoyed it. Some of the best scallion pancakes I've had in a while, the BBQ pork bun and chicken buns were especially good, and it was all reasonably priced. We splurged a little and both came out absolutely stuffed about 70 bucks later (including tip!). Excellent service, wonderful food. Our waitress recommended the beef noodle dish (#196, I forget the actual name) and we loved it, so thanks again for the recommendation!

Dim sum at New Fortune? You delivered. Potstickers that silenced the offspring? Yum. Shu Mai? Double yum. The pork buns? They were a hit with the tiny humans. The food was, in short, tasty. Now, let's address the existential dread in my fortune cookie. "Seek professional help when needed for your mental health." Look, I get it. We've all been there. But maybe, just maybe, the fortune cookie should stick to predicting financial windfalls or vague romantic encounters, not diagnosing my inner turmoil. Despite the unsolicited mental health advice, I'd definitely go back. The dumplings were worth the potential therapy bills.

So very happy New Fortune is back in business. Food is just as great as it was before Covid. Go early. It’s not as big as it was, and it’s very popular. Be prepared to wait. Service was great. Lots of carts and lots of coverage. Still in soft opening. So be patient, Austin! We need good places like this!

This restaurant is located in an unassuming place (sharing a driveway with a gas station), but don't let that turn you off. It is beautiful and clean inside. The host and waitstaff were all SO friendly. We went on a Saturday night with a group of 10 and there was no wait at all. The food was excellent! I am Chinese and come from a restaurant family...and we all agreed that the food was great. The dim sum quality was so good. We also ordered things off the menu and we loved everything. There were so many things to choose from and it was all delicious--lobster fried rice, chow fun, fish maw soup, whole fish. Definitely give this place a try! Originally, this place had a 3.9 rating and I was shocked that the rating was a little low....so I had to leave a review to let people know that this place is worth a visit.

I used to go to the old fortune in North Lamar and was heart broken when they closed. Found out that they have opened again. The restaurant is in 620. I went there and was not disappointed. It is still fabulous and one of the few places to have dim sum. The quality is excellent.

Went on a Saturday for the dim sum carts. We got there at 10:15am, and the doors were already open. We were seated within minutes, and were surrounded by carts. They had so many options compared to other places we’ve been to in Austin, and everything was fresh and delicious! Service was excellent, and everyone was so friendly. Definitely worth the hour drive for my husband and I. We’ll be back soon!

Wonderful dinner for two at New Fortune. It was not too busy because we went pretty late for dinner and suspect that the cold temps outside also contributed. We had the full attention of the staff and kitchen and it shows. I would be hard pressed to recall better service at even much more expensive restaurants. We ordered the soups, double lobster special, some dim sum and beef rib clay pot. This was obviously too much food for two but the menu is very enticing and we don't mind the leftovers. Everything tasted amazing, the service was excellent and personal. I felt I've been missing out on this experience. Going to go back for dim sum on cart brunch/lunch next.

I've been here twice now on a Sunday for dim sum. We come straight from mass, get here about 10:30 AM. Place is already half full but we've never had to wait for a seat for our party of 4. The service is fabulous, all the wait staff is nice & polite. Our water glasses are filled promptly, the dim sum cart drivers are always nice & answer our questions, make recommendations, etc. Dim sum always tastes fine to me. My family & I started out eating dim sum years ago at Fortune, then, New Fortune, & now we're at New Fortune II. It's all good. I gave a 3 for atmosphere because basically you feel like you're eating in a big dining hall. Tables & chairs are plain, padded, new and clean. Service is always fabulous. Thank you New Fortune servers for always bringing us forks and plenty of napkins.

Food was excellent- now my new favorite dimsum restaurant in town (although there are a few I have yet to try). The tea per person seems expensive but possible that it’s the going rate. The food was fresh and they did a really good job clearing the table promptly. My favorites are the shiu mai and the rice rolls. Their egg tarts are also very good.

It's one of the two best Chinese food places in Austin, the other is Ho Ho Chinese BBQ restaurant on I-35 North. New Fortune serves Cantonese food. Their dimsum is one of the best in Texas, period. The restaurant is relatively small in size, but is clean. Parking spaces don't seem to keep up with the number of guests, unfortunately. Staff is professional and courteous. The cooks are well known Chinese food chefs in Austin in the last 30 years. I always recommend this place to my out of town friends when it comes to Chinese food, particularly to dimsum.

We went on a Sunday for Dim Sum. It is a typical Chinese restaurant loud and busy but we loved it. After we checked in, we were quickly given a table. The wait was not long at all. The restaurant was packed. I got to say this is the best dim sum restaurant in Austin. The food is authentic and delicious. The price is very reasonable. Highly recommend this restaurant!

New Fortune is an old favourite of my family. They used to be in the same plaza as MT Supermarket many years ago. We are very happy to see it reopen on 620N. We have had many shrimp and chicken dishes and fried rice and noodles before and have started having them again. Still excellent, like before. Yesterday once more ... : ) Reasonable prices, good portions, very tasty - you won't be disappointed.

So happy to find a new place with so many dimsum options and at reasonable price as well. We went in for lunch and everything that we ordered were served with little wait time. Everything tasted so good. My favorite so far is the steamed creamy steamed egg bun. We got salt and pepper shrimp which was served with a generous amount and large shrimps cooked perfectly. The stir fried chinese brocolly was a very good vegetarian option and cooked the well, not too soggy and still have enough crunch and soft bite on it. Overall so happy to eat here and we'll definitely come back soon to try other dishes. Theres just too many. I think it is also worth mentioning that the restaurant is clean, chairs are nice and overall ambiance is relaxing.

I've only attended their Dim Sum brunch, but it's one of the most delicious and fun experiences I treat myself to. If you arrive at opening there won't be a line, and food hits the table very quickly. The food prices are extremely reasonable. A large group of my friends (6-8) all went for breakfast and spent about $225, all completely stuffing ourselves to the brim. We ate and ate and ate and then when we were halfway into a food coma we realized we had only been there for 15 minutes. Highly recommend this delicious establishment!

We had an amazing family meal at New Fortune restaurant. We were big fans of the dim sum at the previous New Fortune, and this was our first time coming to the new location. We had several items from the dinner menu and they were all flavorful and delicious. Looking forward to coming back to try the dim sum.

If you are looking for authentic and great Dim Sum(早茶) in Austin, this is the place. As a person who grew up in Guangzhou(广州), where Dim Sum originated from, I am pleasantly surprised by New Fortune and very satisfied. I went to New Fortune this Saturday for lunch with my parents, who lived their entire life in Guangzhou and recently visited Austin. They were reminded of their youth by the delicious Dim Sums with traditional Cantonese flavor and the old school little serving carts. They were also a bit emotional because these are disappearing in present day Guangzhou due to growing fast-moving metropolitanism. The environment is also very close to Cantonese restaurant(茶楼). We plan to try their diner soon to see if their main dishes are also good.

I went there today at 10:00, there were about 10 people waiting ahead of me. The restaurant opened very early today at 10:15, so we were able to sit right away. Food was quick and great! No cold food at all! It’s probably because they received so many negative comments yesterday and got improved a lot better. Service was good as well! 5 stars with no complaints! Dim sum is finally back to Austin, yay!!

Update July 2025: Still hands down the most Authentic HK cantonese style dim sum you are going to find in Austin and surrounding neighborhoods. I wouldnt have dim sum anywhere else. First of all, I want to say.. they had aluminum dim sum carts being pushed around with piping hot dim sum. That's a win in my book. Then they spoke Cantonese, for those of yall that don't know.. Dim Sum was originated from Guangzhou/Guangdong. Cantonese is the language spoken in that region. So it's authentic. Spoke to the manager there and she is from Hong Kong and lived in Austin for 25+ years.. super nice lady. The dim sum is good, I didn't have anything that I didn't like or taste that is off. Will come back again. However, they should either employ a cell phone texting alert system.. that will text "Your table is ready, gather your party". Or a speaker system with a mic that the Hostess can call your number, where someone will hear it outside of the front door. Because cramming all those people in that "waiting area" is not efficient and it is absolutely not safe. People cant walk in to check in with hostess and people cannot get out to leave. If something were to go down, that will become a crowd stampede. Not to mention, most people are still dealing with post pandemic fears of crowded places...

Door dashed some steamed pork dumplings and viet shaking beef. Wow the pork dumplings are the best I’ve had so far. Order was packaged w care too! Definitely be back.

Their dimsum is very reasonably priced. I love their sesame balls - crispy on the outside and perfectly chewy on the inside. Beside dimsum, we tried their House Clay Pot and Steamed Seabass. Very impressed with both. Generous amount of seafood in the claypot.

Oh my god, Lillian was an amazing server to my wife, son, and me. We had so much fun! She made the experience wonderful with her outstanding customer service. She was very attentive, constantly checking in on us, and introduced us to many new dishes at New Fortune. We'll definitely be coming back for more!

So happy this place is back! Service was so kind & amazing!! The food was so yum & fresh! We missed a couple of savory treats hiding inside the dessert cart, but it's because someone in our own party didn't give the cart guy time to say anything before sending him away :/ It was some of my family's first time to do dim sum & everyone left full & happy. What you should know: the line forms at the front side door, NOT the door with the lions. I love that they are further north & doing cart service which so many have abandoned. I can't wait to go again & again!! Thank you New Fortune for coming back to us! You've been missed!

Weekend service has the carts. People line up as early as 9am. For a party of 10 people we showed up at 11am on a Sunday. Next time we will treat it like tailgating and have chairs and a cooler. The wait was about an hour, but there are plenty of shady spots under trees to hang out in while you wait. Parking is ok. If it’s really busy you park in the neighborhood. Great service - the host and our server were so friendly and attentive. The carts have so much variety. Dirty plates are immediately cleared. The dishes were all amazing. Highly recommend you bring a big group so you can try as many things as possible. Definitely coming back.

If you’re trying to get a table, expect at least an hour wait during busy times. I went this past weekend and you get a ticket number that they will call for your table. They did have the carts that day and the pace was pretty good. We got all the must tries (didn’t see soup dumplings) and the entire selection did not disappoint! I don’t think there was a single item I didn’t like, stand outs were the spare ribs and the chicken feet. Classics and absolutely delicious!

Went for dinner on a Wednesday evening and it got ample of space with no line-up required. Service was nice and quick. The portion is decent and they taste good, especially the special pot. Tips is included for party of 5 or above and it’s clearly stated on the menu. Overall pleasant experience will definitely revisit for dim sum again.

We were craving for dim sum and we wanted to try out New Fortune. We went there for a weekday lunch. We ordered beef flat noodle, har gao, cheung fen, shumai, beef tripe, soup dumplings, sesame ball and fried dumplings. Everything is tasty and in good portion. We are glad that we can have a nice and affordable yum cha meal in Austin instead of driving 2hrs to Houston.

So glad we have another traditional dim sum restaurant again. They’re in a much smaller space now, so definitely no longer a banquet hall and a much much smaller dim sum menu, similar to jade and absent of some of my favorites unfortunately. They’ll have cart service on the weekends for dimsum. I went on their second day of opening and service was extremely slow, which is par for the course since I’m sure they have a lot to work out. Food however was what I remember. Solid, no frills. Exactly what I want from traditional dim sum with decent prices of $6-7 per plate.

My family and I recently dined at New Fortune Restaurant and it was fantastic! The restaurant is clean, bright, and well-organized, with friendly staffs. We visited on a quiet Thursday evening and were promptly served. We ordered an appetizer and three main entrees, which arrived quickly. The veggies were fresh, clay pot hot, and noodles cooked just right. Overall, it was an excellent experience and I recommend it!

Absolutely love this place so much! My partner and I come atleast once a week. It took us awhile to find a dim sum place we love but new fortune has exceeded our expectations. Food is always fresh, customer service is spectacular, and it just feels like home!! I feel like the 5 stars isn’t even enough.

It’s been long that we been craving for good dim sum, any Asian who lived here longer than 5 years should be familiar with New Fortune when they were originally at the MT Supermarket on Lamar back in 2020. This new space seems to be fit for them, and there are plenty of tables within the building, there is even a side room that has 3 big tables that fits 10 of each. We have ordered many dishes to share among 10 of us, and I would say that their dim sum is better than when they were at MT Market. On weekends they have listed the business opening at 10:30, they would actually open up at 10am if it gets hot outside. Remember one very important thing, they would only sit you if everyone are present, or you will have to wait till everyone gets in. This is a good practice so that there is no one holding up the tables. If you haven’t try this restaurant, I do urge you to go and try them out ASAP!!!

We made it to them New Fortune soft opening this weekend and we could not be happier they're back. The food was just as fantastic as ever. They had most of our favorites and the items they didn't have they said they were working on offering it at a later date so they do definitely have some kinks to work out and more improvements. The wait staff was wonderful, we saw a few familiar staff from New Fortune that remembered us. Keep in mind Austin hasn't really had a dim sum place, especially one with cart service since the original New Fortune closed 3 years ago. We knew the wait was going to be insane if we didn't get there early. We got there almost an hour early just to make sure we got a table. I'd say you don't have to be that extreme but on weekends 30 minutes early is probably a must to get guaranteed a table, at least for the first month or so. The line was back past the building by 10:15 and they didn't open till 10:30. They do not seat incomplete parties so make sure you are all there. Once they opened it was definitely an insane flood of people and getting sat. You have to give some grace to the wait staff and front of house during this time period. Also keep in mind once you fill an entire restaurant anyone who didn't get in is of course going to end up waiting an hour or more before a table opens up so if you don't make the first round of people being sat. I'd say it's better to come around 12 or so when people start leaving. This isn't a new concept, it happened at the old location as well, the old location just happened to be huge so more people fit initially. We always went early and if we didn't we'd end up waiting an hour. Again, this was a soft opening so I fully expected the service to be slow and food to come out a little bit more sporadic than normal but I have no doubt they'll continue to improve. Overall, I'd definitely recommend them and I'm so excited they're back but please be patient with them the next few weeks while they work out all the kinks opening a new (and highly anticipated) restaurant. It was very very hectic and again give them some grace.

We thought we were early to arrive at 10:30am Sunday, but we were given a queue number for 1-hour wait time. They will shout for your queue number and the layout inside the restaurant is too packed and distance between tables are too close to each other so that they could setup more seats. It was too noisy inside as it's really crowded everywhere. Overall food, dim sum are excellent in taste and quality. I think probably the best hong kong style dim sum in town and its priced reasonably.

I have been waiting 3 years to get New Fortune saltvand pepper shrimp and shaking beef. They were a little different than the old location but still very good. I used to eat at the location almost every friday for lunch after they reopened after covid, sometimes Saturday or Sunday for dim sum. I definitely will return on the weekends for the dimsum carts i really have missed that dining experience. If they only had a dining room the size of the old location so more people could enjoy the experience at one time...

My wife and I have lived in Cedar Park since 2023. We have struggled to find authentic Chinese food. I was born and raised in New York City and going to Chinatown for real food was just a 15 minute walk from our family's business. After trying virtually every joint in town we were so happy to have finally found New Fortune 2. The selection of fresh seafood, real authentic Hong Kong style noodles and veggies reminded me of the food I grew up eating on a weekly basis. We always start with a large bowl of hot and sour soup and it is the best I've had in years. So far we have enjoyed their Singapore noodles, the Shrimp and snow peas are very high quality. We also love the Dim Sum. The chicken and basil dumplings were super yummy and the bean curd roll in oyster sauce was perfection. I highly recommend the pan fried noodles with vegetables and the beef with string beans. Huge selection of traditional and also American-Chinese dishes. The place is very nice and clean. The entire staff is very friendly.

Very tasty food, generous portions, we will be back! We went there for an early dinner on Saturday night, arriving at 5PM when they start dinner service. Not too busy at that time, although it looked like they were doing a lot of delivery orders. They don’t run the dim sum carts for dinner service but the popular dim sum can be ordered from the menu. - Siu Mai: excellent, large and well filled, reminded me of some of the best ones I’ve had in Hong Kong. Recommend. - Spicy dumplings: fresh and delicate dumplings in chili oil with some chili crisp stuff, very good, also recommend. - Har Kau and Char Siu Bao were pretty standard. - Soup dumplings were OK, slightly thicker wrapper than I prefer and not as good as places that specialize in them. Better to order Cantonese/Hong Kong favorites. - Pork with green beans, possibly the best example I’ve had of this dish, plenty of “wok hei” flavor, tender and flavorful pork, fresh green beans cooked perfectly, definitely a crowd pleaser. Recommend. - My son is a connoisseur of the Orange Chicken (he always orders it everywhere). He says it’s one of the best he’s had anywhere. - Shrimp Lo Mein, lots of big shrimp in there, another crowd pleaser. Dinner for 4 with tea, under $100 before tip and with enough leftovers for everyone to have lunch the next day. Very good, we’ll be back!

This is easily the best dim sum restaurant in the Greater Austin area. We drive 30 minutes just to enjoy dim sum at New Fortune. They serve all the classic dim sum dishes. Cart service. Reasonably priced compared to other local dim sum restaurants. Plenty of parking. Special shout out to Lilian who made our 8-person group visit extra remarkable with her friendly banter, caring spirit, and attention to detail. She made last Sunday one of the best dim sum experiences we've had anywhere! Pro tip: Only full parties are seated. In fact, they wouldn't even take our name down until the full party was in the lobby. (This was different than most dim sum restaurants, which take your name down and then seat you when your full party arrives.)

We came here drawn by the rice cake, and it did not disappoint—the sauce was incredibly smooth, almost soothing as you swallowed it. My husband insists their chicken feet are the best in Austin. We also tried the sticky rice in lotus leaf for the first time, and it was absolutely stunning—rich, fragrant, and satisfying. From soup dumplings to har gow, everything we tasted was delicious and well-prepared. The service was decent, though we were seated in an area the dim sum trolley rarely reached. We had to flag down a waiter to order directly from the cart, which took away from the usual dim sum experience. Another downside was how they cleaned the tables—they kept rolling a cart full of dirty dishes around us multiple times, which really killed the mood and made the food less appetizing. Overall, the food makes this place worth visiting, but they could definitely improve the logistics and table service for a better dining experience.

Pretty good dim sum for the area. Expect a wait because it gets crowded. They use the cart system, but since it’s table based, the popular dishes go fast. If you’re at the end of the line, you might have to wait a while for the good stuff to get restocked

Food is good and fresh. And the seat waiting is not too long for 2-4 pax. The restaurant is new and nicely renovated and staff is ample. There is a great variety of Dim Sum available here. Personally I like the seasonal stir-fried green beans. However, the server may take a while to come and sometimes forgot to serve beverages and need to call them. Overall, the experience is good. And will visit again.

New Fortune Restaurant offers decent dim sum, but the limited menu could use more variety. Reservations aren't available, so be prepared for a short wait. Table turnover is quick, making it a convenient option for a casual meal.

My husband and I visited on the 2nd day of its grand opening at around 2 pm to avoid the crowd. We noticed that half of the restaurant was empty and expected a quick seating, but we waited 20 minutes for a table. Interestingly, we ran into servers from Special Noodles 😂. We knew what we wanted and ordered immediately when the server came. Then, we waited 15 minutes for the dim sums to arrive. 1. The egg roll was okay, but honestly, the ones from Costco taste better. 2. The Har Gao was okay, but the shrimp flavor was barely noticeable, and the skin was too thick. We prefer the ones at Qi. 3. The Xiao Mai was okay, but we prefer the ones at Qi. 4. The Xiao Long Bao was the best of all, but we still prefer the ones at Special Noodles. 5. The spicy wantons were the worst. The wanton skin was dry and hard, and the sauce was bland. 6. The shrimp balls were okay, but nothing special. We prefer the crab balls at Qi way more. Overall, the service was extremely slow, even though there were only around 10 tables when we were there. We give the food a 7 out of 10. Nothing spectacular, and it's not a restaurant we'd go back to, but it's better than many dim sum restaurants in Austin.

We went pretty late, about 30 minutes before closing, so the food was not fresh, which may be why we didn't really enjoy the experience. However, they did tell us in advance, so there were no surprises. I would like to go back and try as the experience could be different and better then. The service wasn't there so we were not sure how to order outside the cart and no one explained to us so we were kind of dependent on the remains from the cart only.

New Fortune is back and it was packed. It’s awesome having a traditional style dim sum service back in the Austin area. We arrived just before 10:30 and there was no wait. Overheard others not being seated because their parties were not complete. Service was great, enjoyed seeing the waiters pushing the carts around.

Wait was long, seems Sundays are the busiest. Sat or weekday is best. The food quality rivals that of the big dim sum houses in the major Chinatowns (Boston and NYC) They have the everyday dim sum items and some really well done dishes like the sesame balls and fried shrimp balls. Their chicken feet was perfectly done. You can tell how the rest of the food by their execution of chicken feet.

Nut allergy warning: Some dishes may have nuts, everything I ordered came out fine after we informed the staff. We came as a party of 3 and were seated with no issues on a Wednesday around 7:30PM. Finally, there was no line! But this was dinner, not dim sum. Order-to-Food Time: 13 Minutes for the Rice Noodles 19 minutes for the Squid Up to 35 minutes for the dim sum dishes (I think our pork buns got mostly forgotten). For three people, we ordered two dishes and three dim sum dishes. TL;DR: the dim sum dishes are ok, the others are pretty good. Stir Fried Rice Noodle with Beef: 4/5. Very sharable but not as much beef as I'd like. Salt & Pepper Squid: 4.5/5. Great portions, very tasty. A little stringy. Pork Buns: 3/5. Served as 3, not much meat inside but good flavor of Chinese barbecue. Szechuan Wontons: 3.5/5. For some reason these felt a little bland. Kind of pricey for only 5. Steam Pork: 2.5/5. A little too fatty for my preference. Service was very considerate and friendly, very family vibe with the jokes. I'd come back again but maybe not for dim sum, especially with a line.

Thought I try New Fortune while in its early soft opening stages. We went in for lunch in a Saturday and I have to give props to the staff for handling the craziness well. It was so busy people just lined up inside and out. They told us it would be a 40 min wait but we wait an hour. I think there was abit of un organization with first come first serve. Customers were yelling and screaming at eachother and the hostess it was madness. The staff were all over the place but did well given the situation of it being busy. Our waitress took our order but didn’t put one thing in so we didn’t end of getting it so we said forget it. The food was just ok, the dimsum just came out warm not hot considering they should be sitting in the steamer. I know it’s their soft opening and they are in their early stage but I’m hoping the service and the food will get better considering Austin doesn’t have much options for authentic dim sum. I’ll probably try going back in a few months with things calm down and they have things sorted out.

Decent selection, because I’d the service type the food on offer mah not be very warm. Packed and loud restaurant as well. Fun experience if you’ve not had it. Worth going at least once. Servers were very nice.

Ok, this happens to be a relocation or re-opening of the Dim Sum Restaurant that used to be in the Chinatown area off Lamar. That was hands down the best place to get dim sum or Chinese food in general. There are not many places to get dim-sum in all of Austin, so this one can easily be crowned one of the best if not THE best one still. Went on a Sunday, and was busy as heck, line out the door, but don't be deterred, it all goes by pretty fast. The food constantly comes out quickly, and the folks that serve it are just as nice and helpful. I don't care what anyone else would think, just tip them like they deserve. This location is obviously smaller and almost seems cramped, but you can tell they try to accommodate everyone including large parties. You typically want to go to dim sum with large parties to enjoy and chat over a mix of food offerings. The quality of the food is still good as it was before but maybe even better. I prefer the new chicken feet, less sweet :) Soup dumplings are probably my favorite, but just be careful, you only get 3 per serving so it quickly adds up but the same can be said for all the dishes. I happy to say they still offer very good food, just a little sad the prices are higher but that just goes with the territory. I highly recommend this place. Of course some of the reviews will be mixed bc they just opened, so service can sometimes be hit or miss for folks, but it was great for me and I'm happy to see them return.

We were craving dim sum and decided to try New Fortune. The primary selling point was that they have dim sum every day. Score! We were seated right away around noon on a Friday. It’s a large restaurant but nothing fancy inside. The star of the show is definitely the dim sum. We ordered a variety of items. The soup dumplings and BBQ buns were delicious and favorites that will bring us back. Prices were reasonable and service was attentive and friendly. Love it! We’ll be back.

So happy New Fortune is back! Went here tonight to try the dimsum menu, and it's definitely still the best in Austin. Most of the food came out piping hot, and the flavors were excellent. The prices are a bit high for dimsum but at least the portions were pretty decent. Only thing we didn't like was the tofu hua / soft tofu pudding; the syrup tasted too much like maple syrup. The staff were all super friendly. Given this was opening night, there was a bit of chaos, but that's completely understandable and I expect that to go away once they've had some practice. The all day menu is smaller than their weekend menu which will have more items and cart service. They said no reservations on weekends, even for large parties.

Our favorite dim sum place in Austin. Authentic dim sum cart experience makes it fun to try new things. The food is always tasty and service is very fast. You get to sit down and eat immediately! But sometimes you get luke warm dishes because its been on the cart for a while. It can get crowded so go early for less wait and more food choices.

So it was a soft opening, and that showed. I received the wrong dish, but they will work that out. The Hot and Sour was good, if a little more flavor heat could be great. You should have a little sweat on your forehead after eating hot food IMHO. Sesame Chicken was perfect. The soup dumplings were good, but a little under seasoned. I will admit, I like my food with flavor so seasoning and spice are biases I have. I realize, though, that Texas is getting more people from places that like bland food, and so perhaps it is hard to appease everyone. Finally, the prices were very fair. That is no small thing these days as there are bad restaurants charging ridiculous prices. This is a good restaurant charging good prices. I will be back.

It’s definitely a no frill restaurant. We came on a Friday but they don’t offer dim sum cart unless it’s the the weekend. The prices are very cheap though but portions are on the smaller side. I tried their soup dumplings, salt and pepper tofu and crystal shrimp dumplings. Overall I think the soup dumplings were okay. The crystal shrimp dumplings aren’t bad. The salt and pepper tofu has a nice seasoning on it. The service needs to be improved or hire more waitress. They already included tips if you have 5 people in your party.

Well, an underwhelming season 2 by the same owner of the original New Fortune which I loved. This time with it’s tables packed tight and service visibly more streamlined, all for efficiency and with inflation-boosted prices. The selections and flavors are more like a fast food version of authentic dim sum. The menu is missing many authentic dim sum entries. I can’t help wonder how many of the items are made fresh on site. Since Austin doesn’t currently offer an alternative for real dim sum, try it once if you haven’t had a push-cart dim sum experience before. But authentic food wise, don’t hold your expectations high.

Had hope that this place would be good. It’s not bad, but it’s a one and done for me. The flavors and seasoning were just meh which saddens me as I’m always cheering on my fellow Chinese restaurants. I ordered 12 dishes but stopped photographing after 3 as none of them were really that visually appealing. Good Luck 🥠 New Fortune

I found New Fortune to be more of an experience rather than a typical outing. Upon arriving on a Sunday afternoon, a line was snaked out of the entrance, got my number and waited an hour. After waiting, was seated and the food carts began to pass our table. There are no menus, just say yes or no to the options passing your table. The dumplings and everything served are fresh and hot. Had shrimp in at least two variations, some sautéed asparagus, pork, cow stomach, and for dessert soft bun dessert and egg tarts. Was it worth the hour wait? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I remember reading in some reviews their weekday offerings are different than their weekend; hence the line on Sunday/Saturday[?]. There were two of us and we ended up spending $70 on a shared bill. Go if you have time to kill, or are married to the thought of having dumplings n’ things.

We (party of 3) showed up at this place for the first time on a Friday night at 9:05.. I didn't realize that they close at 9:30 which their posted hours confirm.. however, the host upfront without fail or reluctance seated and handed us menus. He did mention in passing that "he hopes we know what we want since the kitchen is closing soon"... I'm not sure what that means?!.. especially since we were seated. We were served very quickly and enjoyed a couple of drinks, and asked for to go boxes when food was brought out, the food was great tasting and descent portions. The environment and scenery was pleasing and welcoming. The only thing I would say, is that the feeling of being rushed after the fact.. literally since all our dishes and other were bussed by the staff, and them rushing out the back door after we stepped out.. I know without a doubt that those dishes were not rinsed or cleaned. They were just waiting on us to leave for them to close up. I understand, but they should've just turned us away from the jump. Overall the visit went well and the food was good enough to dismiss the negative notes. May come back again.

We were very excited that a new Chinese restaurant is opened in Cedar Park! I would like to preface my review by saying that this is a soft opening and I’m sure the owner will work things out and make the dining experience smooth and better for everyone. We didn’t get to try the dim sum since they sold out. We ordered four dishes. It took a bit longer than usual to get all our food together. I have a suggestion though: If the customer orders 4 dishes, it might be better to give the table all the rice. What happened was that the first 2 dishes came out and we had 2 rice. And the rest of the party had to wait for the latter 2 dishes to come out to get the remaining 2 rice. This should be a simple and quick fix. The staff were extremely friendly and it is what exactly one can expect and experience in a Cantonese restaurant. I am very excited to come back again in the near future to try out the dim sum. The restaurant shows a lot of promises and just needs to iron out issues such as long wait time for food and service. But again, the restaurant just opened and it is totally understandable.

The food was okay, but the attitude was terrible. 👎 I went to pick up my order, and as I walked over to the pickup area and lifted a bag to see if it was mine, a woman gave me a nasty look, sized me up and down, and snapped at me, saying, “You can’t take that—what if you take someone else’s?” I told her it was my first time picking up… It honestly felt like I swallowed a fly—absolutely disgusting.

Family of 4 was there today for dim sum. Food was ok. The shrimp dumplings, bbq bun and egg custard steamed bun was not steaming hot just lukewarm( some parts are even cold to touch)🙁 It should had been steaming hot. The metal tin steamers where they had items inside was cold to touch. It looks like they just steamed them in big steamer(even so the food should have been hot🙁) and transferred into the tin. I’m very disappointed. You would think the steamed items should be hot but no. Won’t go back again. Hopefully we won’t get sick for lukewarm items.

Asked for a refund for the Shanghai dumplings because the meat was purple and looked raw. Served proceeded to scream to manager and be angry in the middle of the restaurant about us. Very unprofessional staff. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable at a restaurant before. I was a waitress for 5 years and would never act this way about a customer.
