Date night for my birthday was absolutely amazing! 10/10!! Our waiter Kade was awesome! Very polite and respectful, he took great care of us . Everything we ordered was delicious!
Loved the gumbo with anduille and the Greek salad! Service is great too. Courteous, helpful, and timely!
It is always a pleasure to find a pappaxeaux wherever I go. This one wasn't an exception, our server Cohen was incredible. We wanted for nothing and the food was amazing. I had the friend seafood platter. My mother had the rainbow trout. Both were great and got out to us quickly. Will always recommend this place.
This was my first time at Pappadeaux. The food was great! The place is fantastically well kept and classy. Our waitress was Jackie. Welcoming, profesional and charismatic, she made the experience whole! 10/10!
🦞 Awesome Austin Seafood at Pappadeaux! 🍤 This place is an absolute feast! The Fried Platter (catfish/tilapia, shrimp, and crawfish over fries) was everything you want: perfectly crispy, well-seasoned, and massive. No grease, just pure flavor. The Gator Bites were a standout—tender fried morsels in a vibrant, slightly spicy sauce (like the Hot Honey Glaze), beautifully balanced with peanuts and pickles. Service is top-notch and the atmosphere is lively and fun. For a true taste of the Bayou in Austin, Pappadeaux is a must-visit. You will leave stuffed and happy. 5/5 Stars!
Been going here for over 30 years. My recent meal was extremely good. Started off with Shrimp Fondue. Always very tasty. Move on
I made it back into town for the second time this year. I missed my opportunity to come enjoy the restaurant last time, I refused to allow that again 😊. You ALL did a great job as always. Kimberly did a fantastic job. She was very attentive, friendly, and truly professional. Keep it up everyone.
I’ve only gone for pick up orders. Inside the restaurant is beautiful and very clean. The wait staff are cordial and patient. They are helpful and let people eat food without interruption (as I’ve observed). The pick up orders are easy to make and retrieve. I have never noticed a loud atmosphere. The tables are spaced out nicely so there is some degree of privacy when you sit in to eat there. Wheel chair accessibility is a plus here, too. The restaurant’s decor is welcoming, the staff greet you with smiles and a welcoming greeting, and the restroom was clean (a plus in my book). This is a family friendly restaurant or a place to have a nice dinner with a significant other, or a lunch or dinner by yourself.
Excellent service and food. Very New Orleans like. I had the Caribbean grilled lobster It was cooked perfectly. Wish I can remember my waiter's name. He was fantastic we talked for quite a long time and he actually got me a bread pudding on the house. Make sure to share this you'll never finish it on your own. Highly recommend going here. 😀
Great seafood, great margaritas, excellent service. Pappadeux is an establishment that provides a consistent experience time and time again. The fried fare is still the best there is. Perfectly crispy breading and fresh as can be. Pair that with well made drinks, and if you can fit it in, dang good desserts. I'll keep coming back so long as the quality standards never change and man do I hope they don't!
Everything here tasted delicious! The crab cake is one of the best I’ve had! The salmon and shrimp dish was super tasty! Rice and beans side reminded me of New Orleans! :) I love to take my friends who’re visiting Austin for the first time here! The staff are always nice and helpful. Love this place! Good food and great service every time!
I had such a great time at the bar at Pappadeaux thanks to Christine. From the moment I sat down, she made me feel welcome and taken care of. She’s quick, friendly, and has this easy way of making you feel like you’ve known her for a while. Even though the bar was packed, she never missed a beat — my drink was always topped off, and she still found the time to check in and chat. She also gave me some spot-on recommendations from the menu, which made the whole experience even better. Christine really made the night feel fun and relaxed. If you’re going to Pappadeaux, do yourself a favor and grab a seat at her bar.
The French bread was crispy and delicious. The dip was very creamy and our entrees were very good. The waiter was prompt and very polite.
My husband and I enjoyed our food immensely. Aside from the food, I was amazed by the professionalism of all the staff, starting with our server Roberto. While Gastronomy struggles with a shortage of workforce, we observed what I would call the most professional team. The (floor or shift ?) manager had a quick huddle with her team, she hustled dirty dishes and next was seen helping as a bar back! Respect! From where we sat we could see the kitchen and it appeared to run just as smooth and professional as the test of the place! We will definitely be back!
Been here a couple of times, food is constantly good, this time I tried the crawfish combination plate and it was very good, and the plates that my friends ordered looked very good as well. Server was friendly and did a very good job. I think the menu could be improved in terms of presentation, there's so many good options but no pictures to look at, it's just harder to make up your mind.
Food, service, & experience were great! A little pricey. I recommend the Pappadeaux platter. It's enough for 2 people! Trust me on this one.
My wife and I came here with another couple for a birthday. We really enjoyed the food and the service. The I had the filet oscar the steak was cooked perfectly how I asked and the baked potato was huge. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. My only small complaint is the table size. For 4 people the table gets very crowded with drinks and plates and had to move the salt and sugar off the table. Will definitely be back though!
It was one of the best meals ever. I work in an Italian restaurant, and the tagliatelle in this place with crab, octopus, and shrimp iys is awesome. The bread pudding is from another world, and the service was amazing. And the best part, when I ordered my sparkling water they gave me a topo chico.
We enjoyed our meal at Pappadeaux. Came here on a Sunday a few weeks ago for dinner (approx. 6:30pm) and there was no wait for a table (for 2). The front staff promptly seated us and our waiter took our order shortly after. Our soup (i.e. seafood gumbo) & appetizer (i.e. calamari) came out within ten minutes. Probably less than 15 minutes our main order came out. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Never had to ask for a drink refill. Great service here.
We had the best service. For the life of me I don't remember our server's name, but she was amazing. She was upbeat, and attentive. I'm not a frequent customer of Pappadeaux, but I would go back for the service.
Lovely experience as always, we went on a Wednesday afternoon, so it was relatively quiet. Our sever (cant remember his name but he was fantasic and had amazing dreads) took phenomenal care of us, made sure we had a great experience and our food was very fresh, hot and absolutely delicious. Definitely recommended to add some bacon wrapped shrimp to your shrimp fondue!
Such a great place. Waitress was super nice. Drinks, appetizers, and main cores so delicious! Really nice atmosphere. 10/10
I went for a work lunch the food smelled so amazing I almost forgot to take a picture. I had the étouffée. For my first time there the overall experience was great. Our waiter and even other staff were friendly and attentive . 10 out of 10 I will definitely be back . I also had the oysters they were so good.
It's Friday! So it's time for a wonderful late seafood lunch. Started with a shareable Yummy fresh shrimp cocktail. For entrees selected; Seafood grill kabob on dirty rice. Seafood combination platter of shrimp, catfish, chicken, crawfish, and fries. And one more entrees of fried shrimp platter.
Food was delicious staff was so nice, we ordered Gatorade bites and I ordered a steak and everything was sooo good ! This is what I think of when I say the taste and experience better match the price ! Amazing job !
Celebrated our anniversary. Waitstaff is exceptional. Brinkley took great care of us. We started with the boudain. It was delicious, with a little bit of a kick. My husband had the seafood gumbo and garlic bread. He said it was amazing. I had the Rainbow trout with sautéed spinach. Delicious, bright and buttery. Perfect atmosphere for a celebration!
My go to spot when in Austin. Celebrating a family friend 62 birthday. Big shout out to our wonderful waiter Channel from Queens NY, phenomenal job.
My husband and I celebrated our Valentines late and I am so thankful we waited because our experience with food, drinks and service was spot on. The Eden of Garden drink was light and refreshing, Rainbow trout and crab dish was succulent and the garlic bread was amazing. Our waiter was attentive and punctual.
Went here for my crawfish fix - & did not disappoint! We had the crawfish fondeux - OMG, so good!!! He had the snapper and I had blackened catfish with a side of sautéed crawfish. Everything was delish❤️ even took some cheesecake to go - can’t wait to try that!!! (Tho we’re stuffed, so may have to wait al lil bit😉)
Went for lunch with a friend. Promptly greeted and sat at a table. Our server Teona was absolutely fantastic. Food was great and a large portion for a lunch menu selection. I can't wait to go again.
Love the food! Our server gave us a great recommendation! The seafood is fresh and delicious. Portions are enormous so you can share it with your guests. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the staff will not help you if they are not your server. So we had really hard time trying to catch our server in order to get more water or some other stuff.
The halibut with piccolo is my absolute favorite!! The bacon wrapped shrimp with dirty rice was delicious! **Update** The shrimp and grits are my new favorite. So much flavor in the shrimp, grilled perfectly and grits are thick almost like the consistency of mashed potatoes. Can’t wait to go back!
The wait was less than 2 minutes. Amazing atmosphere and service. The wait staff is top notch. The bread was amazing and the fries were cooked perfectly. The tagliatelle pasta was loved by my guests. The shrimp batter was slightly sweet and not over battered. The Cajun chicken flavor was not too spicy but not too bland and a great combination of flavors. Our drinks were always topped off right on time or early in many cases. This is a fun location with a lively, alive feeling venue. If you're in the area and want a nice seafood dining experience, stop in and check it out.
We had a visit with my son who is in the military. He wanted seafood so Pappadeaux is one of his favorites. Very nice establishment with comfy chairs with ample space for us all. Appetizers, food and drinks were on point. Thanks for a delicious meal in a welcoming setting.
So glad that I ordered the Grilled Shrimp & Grits! The grits just melted in my mouth. I love that it had sweet corn mixed into it too. I also really appreciate how attentive and quick the waitress was, and how they keep the restaurant and the bathrooms clean. Definitely coming back!
One of my favorite places to eat. I always get catfish with red beans and rice. It’s so good! The last time I was there our server was so awesome. She was very quick and constantly checked on us. I believe her name is Rizzio (sorry if I got that wrong). She even put a candle with my crème brûlée for my birthday 😊 Sometimes service is a bit slower when the place is packed but that’s completely understandable. Other than that I definitely recommend eating here!
Service is fast and friendly. Food came out perfect. Drinks are unique and refreshing with quality ingredients. I will come back for more. The only complaint from the table was from 2 people who grew up in Louisiana. They said tomatoes don't go in gumbo. They still thought their gumbos were good.
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen is a definite "Go To" for a satisfying meal and atmosphere! I am allergic to seafood, so the salad and non seafood menu items are delicious and appreciated. The half roasted chicken is juicy, seasoned, and made fresh, and the drinks are tasty and refreshing after a long day, or to celebrate a win! Perfect for all occasions, entertaining out of town guests, kids, wheelchair accessible and their food maintains it's consistency and quality.
I had not been back to this location for almost a year. Had a bad experience when I tried the steak. After such a long time my fiance and I decided to give this place another try and let me tell you …. This visit was not just another meal at a restaurant but it was an EXPERIENCE. What made this visit 100x better than our last and a lot of others was the service. Rizz was our server and what a pleasure it was, she treated us like royalty and by the time I could even think about what I could possibly need she was there in a split second and a step ahead of me every time. Compliments to the chef cause the food was amazing Monday. But what really took it to another level was Rizz she was hands down one of the best servers I’ve ever had. I will be calling ahead next time because if she is not working then I’d rather wait for when she is cause I couldn’t imagine visiting and not receiving the same quality experience as before. Everything from start to finish was amazing but Rizz was the #1 reason why our visit was such an amazing experience. Can’t thank or recommend her enough ! 🏆
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my third visit to Pappadeaux, and once again they absolutely delivered! We ordered a spread that included the oysters, Alfredo pasta, and a variety of seafood dishes — every single bite was tremendous. The oysters were fresh and perfectly prepared, the Alfredo pasta was rich and flavorful, and the seafood was cooked to perfection. What I really appreciate is the consistency — every time I come here, the service is welcoming, the atmosphere is lively, and the food is outstanding. It’s rare to find a place that keeps impressing visit after visit, but Pappadeaux makes it look easy. If you’re craving seafood that’s both high-quality and full of flavor, this is the spot. Definitely deserves five stars!
I recently moved from Atlanta, Georgia to Austin, Texas and the day I got here we visited this Pappadeaux’s for my mother’s birthday. Our server was absolutely amazing and detailed in her menu knowledge and patient with our questions. I got the oysters because I love raw seafood. The array of food in front of you is everything from fried fish to fried shrimp. We had a wonderful experience. We were set immediately and our needs were fully met. I will definitely be back to this location as the family that I do have in the area adores this place!
0150. Rec:181 Server: Avery L Was our server and very polite and friendly and very nice and absolutely made our visit pleasant and appetizers and salad and dinner and dessert all came to us just perfectly in time. I went to celebrate my Birthday with my son and having a great server made a great experience and enjoyed it.( Avery is awesome) Food was so delicious. Leaving the place , we were greeted and employee opened the door for us, wow! Nice. It was really nice getting treated so great.

This is one of my FAVORITE restaurants but the past few times I've been here, the quality of the food has gone down & just isn't as good as it used to be. Went last Saturday night to celebrate a friend's birthday and our server was the WORSE. Will definitely rethink where to celebrate special occasions from now on....
Simple AMAZING! Haven’t been here in a few years due to covid and couldn’t wait to get back and have the bacon wrapped shrimp! A MUST have! Husband had the ribs. The first set was a little toooo Spicy for him “lol” Jose the waiter didn’t hesitate to make a whole new rack! Make that two ! Malik the Manager was extremely amazing. His customer service was simply outstanding!! I would give him 5 Stars alone ! Thank you Jose for the great customer service as well !
This place was great ! The only reason for the 4 stars is for the price. $17 for a house rum and Coke was a little crazy I thought. 3 drinks 1 appetizer was almost $65! The wait was an hour and a half, they had more than enough empty tables. That’s how we ended up at the bar waiting. I can only assume they are short staffed. The staff was friendly and service was fast once we were seated. I know it’s seafood and it’s always a little more , that’s to be expected but I was a little shocked at the menu prices. On the same note I realize everything is going up in price after COVID.
We stopped at the Pappadeaux‘s on 35 in Austin.our server Jackie was great. Surprisingly I ordered steak broccolini and baked potato. The steak was cooked with perfection. My wife ordered crabcake which she loved. The drinks were surprisingly not watered down and I was surprised I was not able to drink two peach-sidecar. If you’re ever in the Austin area off of 35 stop at the Pappadeaux‘s service was great.
My first time here, with some friends and I ended up having to leave my car in their parking lot overnight due to some unforeseen circumstances, and the next morning before i could pick it up i called the restaurant and wanted to let them know id be by to pick it up, and an associate named Bri answered, and was so nice and was nice enough to even go out and make sure my car was still there and safe so i can have peace of mind, so Bri or Bree, thank you!
Fantastic food!!!! Very professional and friendly service!!! The atmosphere is charming but it is loud and the music (over the speakers) distracts from conversation. The prices are high but the food is top notch and the portions are generous! It's a great place to go for fine dining and fun atmosphere - but not the place to go if you want to have a discussion over dinner - But YOU MUST GO!!!!
Food is good but they ran out of lobster, service was great our waiter was very kind and helped recommend what steak I should, I got the aged beef ribeye which was yummy. I loved the drink but I couldn’t remember it but it had strawberry and mango so it was refreshing. Overall not a bad experience I just hope they don’t put us under the ac next time as it got really chilly.
If you follow me or have read many of my other reviews, you probably already know that we don't visit many chain restaurants, and so haven't visited Pappadeauxs in probably 15 years. But we were meeting family, so...... But I really must say that I was pleasantly surprised with our visit. Not that I'd make the hour drive to make Pappadeaux a regular stop, but it's definitely back on the list of possibilities. The service was great. All of the wait staff that helped serve our table were friendly and professional. Every order came out correct, and everyone at our table enjoyed their food. Our visit to Pappadeaux is exactly what you should come to expect, a good atmosphere, helpful friendly staff, and good food in large portions.
Excellent lunch experience. Shrimp and grits for the win! Alligator appetizer was fantastic. Catfish was as good as I could have hoped. Fresh bread, great service, and friendly people. This place is super consistent and we always make a point to visit when we're in Austin. Fairly pricy courtesy of Bidenomics, but still enjoyed it.
The food is pretty damn good, and good sized portions. It is very pricey but they have fried platters that you could split 3 ways and have enough. They don't mind splitting your portions for you at no extra cost! Great priced kids menu. The only reason I took a star was the lighting was WAY TOO DIM! Some us (party of 9) had to use cell phone lights to see at times.
Very good seafood rangingfrom a somple grilled salmon to very fancy cajun style dishes. I wanted to experiment and improve my knowledge of seafood and I did. Pan seared salmon was done perfectly, flesh was firm, pink and moist. Actually all the dishes were cooked perfectly. Their chef knew the perfect time to pull everything off the grill. If I had any complaint, it would have been the shrimp on top of my dish.while excellent, they were a bit too spicy and almost overwhelmed the fish. Not excessive, just a bit overpowering for the fish. (Still, they were really good) Service was incredible. Period.
I treated myself to a little birthday shenanigans at Pappadeaux, and listen… they did not disappoint. I started with the Crab & Spinach Dip and the parmesan crostini… rich, creamy, flavorful. I caught myself humming while I ate. For my entrée, I had the Wild-Caught Red Snapper topped with jumbo lump crab in a lemon butter with toasted almonds and sautéed spinach. The spinach alone? Baby… it was so good I was two seconds from asking if they sell it by the quart. The fish was tender and the crab was delicious. I will say, for the price, I would’ve loved a little more of that crab without needing to ask. But flavor-wise? Hit. The. Mark. I made a new friend at the bar (because God sends community even at dinner), and she ordered the Oven-Baked Crab Cake. When I tell you it was perfectly cooked… golden edges, soft inside, lemon caper butter singing… whew. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and my Old Fashioned? Balanced, smooth, made with intention. I’ll be back.
I can see the appeal of this place and overall not bad. I would Suggest that a place that does this much business and charges as much as they do for their plates could have a dedicated drink person during the peak times. The food itself was fine, a little on the salty side. A refill on my drink woulda probably helped that. To be fair to our server, it was very busy and he was very professional the whole time. They do have a very diverse menu and good lunch prices. This is not my first time here and won’t be my last.

My husband and I went at 11 on Sunday, they didn't offer a brunch menu, but you could order from either their lunch or dinner menus. It was A LOT MORE expensive than the last time I'd been there! …
Service was poor and slow. Very slow. Waiter would disappear for 15+ minutes. It was not packed so no real reason. Food was tasty but fries were barely warm.
We came in around 7, and there was a 25-30 min wait, as expected around this time. Not a bad wait in my opinion. Service was good, we had everything we needed, but it took almost 10 minutes for someone to come to greet our table and place a drink order, so we ordered everything at once. I wasn’t originally a big fan of the Prosecco by the glass coming in a small bottle, but the waitress made a good selling point that it was fresh each glass, rather than poured from the bottle. The Caesar Salad was good, came out fast, but was overdressed. The fondue was more of a soup than what was expected. The pasta Mardi Gras is consistent in flavor, and the rainbow trout was good, but mostly just tasted like browned butter. I substituted my sautéed spinach for broccolini, but was disappointed in the fact that it was very spicy. So much that I couldn’t finish it. It was tossed in some sort of chili oil. Overall, our experience was good, I’d come back, but not frequently. Prince point is high for what you receive. Lots of butter and salt in everything. I’d rather have smaller portions and higher quality selections. Good for a casual night out
Would have given this experience a perfect score except.. the assigned server's Non-verbal and confused look "shunned" me... as if he just 'could not wait another table' or 'why is she sitting in my section' is how it came across to me. He sends for another server who was very kind. I knew exactly what I wanted to order, it was in front of me in minutes! No wait time at all. Tipped more than the top 15%. So, to the assigned server: Don't judge be careful how you treat strangers. It could be an Angel unaware. Watch those Non-verbal cues.
Although this place is a chain restaurant I must say the food and experience are way above average. Our servers started off quite well. Although you would expect a restaurant of this calibre to teach their servers to always start with the ladies first. As the evening progressed the service became very bad. Our server did not seem to really care about our table or The quality of service that he was giving us. He seemed more interested in talking about Sports with the table next to us.
We had fun celebrating a birthday but we have fun whenever we are all together! Our server was wonderful!! Food took awhile to come out but they were busy. The gumbo was not flavorful, too liquidy. The red beans and rice were just not Creole at all...no flavor, spice or seasonings. My son did enjoy the soft shell crabs. Honestly, the food is over-priced and not that great. We checked it off our list. No repeats on this one!
My sister's fondue was pretty watery or liquidity. It didn't taste good. My niece had a piece of hair in her fondue, but one of the managers or front hosts quickly ordered her another fondue and they removed it off her ticket. My sister didn't let them know how her fondue was. My food was good. My sister ended up ordering something for her husband and he seemed to like it. I did not too much care for our waiteress. She was not there to serve our table at all. The manager was more of our waiteress than the waiteress herself. Also, she had some bad sarcasm when we asked her for to go containers. All and all the food was good but our waitress not so good. The manager that was like our waitress we loved and she did an excellent job.
Great atmosphere and great parking. I had the Mississippi Blackened with shrimp Etouffee. My fish was way too salty, the dirty rice tasted funny and Etouffee was disappointing. My roots are in Louisiana and I know how this supposed to taste! I got to sample someone’s Seafood platter and it was yummy!! Should have gotten that. Will do at my next visit.
The quality and portion have gone way down over the years while the price has skyrocketed. It was my favorite restaurant forever but no more, it's just not worth the price anymore.
Pappadeaux has changed and not necessarily for the better! The food is still good as is but the pricing, service and offerings are different nowadays! They offer basically nothing on the happy hour…
We went here last night for dinner while the service was excellent the food was not. Menu has changed and not any options. it could be the location this on is in Austin. My favorites that I remembe…
I loveeeeee Pappadeaux but I went with my family this past Saturday and it wasn't the best visit. We got there early, 10 mins before 5, so that we didn't have to wait as this place gets super busy.…
Party of 9. 5 adults and 4 kids: 5-6-6-7. The only AAs as far as the eye could see. Kids’ meals came out after nearly 50 minutes. Daughter’s meal was lukewarm. Horrible waiter customer service: slow and inattentive. Perhaps it’s the self-fulfilled prophesy; if you think you’re going to get a poor tip, then you render poor service, then render poor service and receive a poor tip. Tip #1 when the kids’ meals are put in first, get their meals out ASAP. They are children. One grandson fell asleep and never got to enjoy his meal. The food is great, but darn. the service was despicable! Two of the adults were from out of state and were really looking forward to a great experience. Terribly disappointed.
Entree came before appetizer, canceled said appetizer. I don’t know what was harder the bread or the butter. The butter tasted like it was prepared the night before and left uncovered in the refrigerator. Entree was good. I arrived at 4:45, this shouldn’t have been a problem. The manager didn’t even come to the table, I feel that left the server hanging in the breeze.
I haven’t been here in years and it was my husbands first time. Pappadeaux is known for its service and quality. Especially at their price points. They missed all the marks with us. Sat down and wasn’t greeted for 15 min. I had to go ask the host for a server. This was after we sat without menus. We order an appetizer and they generously comped it but it was served cold. The entrees came out and my husbands steak was well done when ordered medium. The new one came out rare. The shrimp were over cooked and incredibly salty. We left disappointed and spent $150. We didn’t even get to eat together bc they had to re fire the steak.
Our server Ayva was the best, patient, welcoming, and she recommended the crab cakes, which ended up being the most delicious and unforgettable part of the night. After that, we ordered the grilled octopus and the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas. The octopus was extremely chewy and salty. The Mississippi Catfish Opelousas was also very salty. Even though the flavor was good and the portion size was huge, we couldn’t finish even half of it together. It was my first time trying Pappadeaux, and overall it wasn’t a pleasant experience. If I ever go back, I would only order the crab cakes.
Visited this Pappadeaux in Austin in April. It was close to our hotel, and we waited for it to open in the parking lot. The food and service were both okay—nothing outstanding, but nothing to complain about either. However, the restaurant itself could really use a thorough cleaning. While the dining experience was passable, it was hard to fully enjoy the meal given the noticeable need for better upkeep around the facility. We sat in a booth, and I could not help but notice the dust accumulated around little light on the table, it looks as if it had not been wiped down in a while (if ever). I am not sure if I will return simply because the things I can see are not clean who knows what is going on for the things I cannot see. Do not get me wrong other Pappadeaux are not like this, it seems to be unique to this location. Usually, the food is really good, but my party all agreed the food was just okay and that we should have selected another place for brunch.
I typically never have issues ordering online for here. I wait for the confirmation text and then I wait for the "your order is ready text". I get take out here often so I'm used to the order of …

Save your money, go to Red Lobster. Al dente potatoes that were RAW. So we asked for some other veggie and were served spinach that came straight out of a bag with no flavor. Our server would rathe…
We always have had a good experience at this restaurant for the last 12 years. But after waiting 50 mins (they told us 25 mins) on Sunday at 4 pm at the one on 183 and seeing how everybody entered …
I’m extremely disappointed in Pappadeaux’s handling of a recent situation involving one of their employees. Instead of standing by their staff member after that employee spoke up about experiencing homophobia from a patron, the company chose to terminate the employee. Hospitality should include protecting your team from discrimination. When businesses fail to support employees who speak out against homophobic behavior, it sends a troubling message about whose comfort matters more. Creating an inclusive environment isn’t just about marketing — it’s about how leadership responds when bias actually shows up. In this case, the response appears to prioritize avoiding controversy over protecting staff from mistreatment. Until Pappadeaux demonstrates a clear commitment to standing against discrimination and supporting its employees, I can’t in good conscience recommend supporting this business.
This is probably one of the saddest posts I've made. We have been going to Papadeaux's for 25 years. Everyone of those 25+ visits has been incredible, until now. The server was undertrained, the prices had gone up, the drinks used cheaper ingredients, smaller portions, and the menu was simplified. I'm not in the restaurant business, but the whole shift smells like a profit grab. Management is clearly not focused on the long-term or their clients, but their bank account. Go ahead and skip what has become a corporate chain and find a local place. You definitely don't want to pay these prices for Applebee's.
What a regrettable choice. Stopped in at 1:00 pm on a Thursday for my birthday. Got the worst seat in the house - blinding sun from the skylight. Service was extremely slow. Bread was cold and kind of stale (usually hot and soft at other locations). Ordered Pappas Salad and broiled oysters. Waited for fresh ground pepper for the Pappas Salad and then when it arrived, the peppermill was empty. Waited for Tabasco for the broiled oysters (should be on the table) and when it finally came of course the oysters were cold. Wife had a bad oyster which required a manager visit... yep, more wait. Skipped ordering anything else. This was the first Pappadeaux I ever ate at decades ago (1988) and I was really looking forward to this visit - now I wouldn't go back to this location again.
Came in to be seated and they tried seating us near the to-go door with my newborn baby with the cold draft coming in everytime someone opens it, conscientious decision would be to place us in a warm out of the way spot with a newborn, but I knew they wouldn’t and would try to seat us there. Definitely should have trusted inner gut feeling and left once I knew they weren’t being attentive or accommodating. I understand zoning with serving and how servers have tables assigned that way but didn’t seem like they thought to put us in one of the 20 other booths not in use away from the door that were open and shift the booth system for that zone accordingly. Ended up leaving to go to the one on Research Blvd. where they actually payed attention and made sure we were sat in a good spot with the baby.
Came to Austin decided to eat here. We noticed they had a lot of tables open but they told me we had to wait 20 min an older couple came in 5 minutes after us and they seated them right away. When I asked about it they smiled and said show me who we seated. The manager dismissed it as well they had reservations!
We go to Pappadeaux venues often and I do mean OFTEN. I am leaving this review because this is the second time my husband and I have visited this specific location and have been left very underwhelmed to put it kindly. It isn't over the food, but the complete lack of service. We always sit at the bar, and multiple times we have been left kind of on our own. Last week our tab was close to $500 despite our bartender paying very little attention to us, this week we waited 30 minutes to simply get menus. It took me asking for a manager to have someone behind the bar ask if we needed anything. I enlightened management this week and they offered us a gift card. We have since discovered the other location over on Research Blvd where we were IMMEDIATELY offered menus and drinks and just wonderful service overall. We will not be coming back to this location.

Austin's Pappadeaux's: Hitting the Seafood High Notes (and a few low ones)
There are some places in Austin that just feel like home, even if they're serving up flavors from far away. Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen is one of those spots, a long-time fixture that many Austinites, myself included, have grown to appreciate for a solid seafood fix. It's the kind of establishment you might return to after a break, as Stephen Hartley from Austin noted, and it often delivers on that familiar comfort. First off, let's talk about the vibe. Pappadeaux's nails the atmosphere, mak
