This restaurant is one of the best taco spots in Austin! You order at the counter, and the cashier was super nice. The restaurant has plenty of seating, and there was street parking nearby. I loved the brisket taco! The tortilla had a nice, slightly crispy texture. The meat was extremely flavorful, and I loved it with the cheese. I also liked that there was a little bar with all the sauces. The green sauce was super good and not too spicy.
Had a quick lunch today at Paprika. The tacos were so flavorful. They were seasoned perfectly! I had heard so many good things about this place! They were alll true! I had tacos de carnitas and tacos with brisket!
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. First time trying Paprikas today and I cannot wait to go back. These are 100% the BEST tacos I have ever had in my life. The person taking orders was so nice as well. Highly recommend this place.
I understand tacos are expensive compared to some spots in south texas and outer Austin, but honestly it’s sooo worth it- and the price makes sense for the quality of meat, salsas, and the central Austin location where property values are high. They have the kindest employees, the restaurant is so cute for pictures, the music is a vibe and I feel like I’m in Mexico City again. I love the pride in Mexican culture and obvious care the owners have for the community. Definitely coming back. (Ate so fast I forgot to take pics of the tacos)
Paprika is phenomenal! Absolutely mouthwatering tacos. Located on North Lamar, Paprika serves authentic tacos that will absolutely hit your soul. They serve five flavors on any given day, and have Al Pastor on Saturdays. The service here is very friendly, you are greeted as you enter and leave the establishment. Very cozy and welcoming environment. I ordered a total of six tacos (3x Suadero, 1x Suadero Quesi-Taco, 1x Carnitas, and 1x Campechano Taco). They were all absolutely mouthwatering tacos-watering and delicious. The hot sauce here packs a punch, I was definitely sweating after a few bites! Highly recommend this spot for my fellow taco-enthusiasts!
This is not a resounding 5 star, but it's a solid 5 star. Hear me out. These are good tacos that could be great. When a restaurant has the guts to showcase a tiny menu and is this good it deserves a proper critique to get to the next level. The tacos are inconsistent. Some parts are the best bite of taco ever, and some are honestly a little dry. The dry parts pop up often enough that you'll probably want salsa. Not because the salsa is good (it's fine) but because you'll want moisture. A taco shouldn't NEED salsa. I also wish they could get orders out faster given their popularity. They're suffering at the point of sales, and an hour wait is probably not worth it. They're also very expensive tacos for what they are. A $4 taco would be rough but fine but $5 is not cool. So to be clear, these are good tacos. Austin needs more like them, but there is room for improvement. I'm happy to return. Go on a weekday I you can, and park on the street behind the building.
Super delicious tacos. They totally have their own thing going on but for reference, I think the place in town it's most similar to is Cuantos. These tacos are bigger and of course a little different. I'll keep going to both places because both are some of the best around! They offer with or without cheese. I ordered one of each taco and told them to pick which ones get cheese. They all would have been great with it, but also it's nice to take it down to the simple bare flavors of the cheeseless tacos. I'd recommend multiple trips and trying everything both ways. I only tried tacos, but will work my way through the rest of the menu. I'll be back.
Heard great reviews online about this place so had to check it out. I will say these are THE BEST tacos I’ve had in Austin. I got the bistec torta which was very good, the taste of the steak was very flavorful and a well put together torta in general. I also got the chicken tinga and suadero tacos, which I highly recommend. The tinga was the most flavorful chicken taco I’ve ever had and the suadero was really good as well. If you’re between which beef taco to get (suadero or bistec) I’d personally choose the suadero. My gf got a suadero, bistec and carnitas tacos. The carnitas was probably our least favorite of them all but still not bad. **These aren’t street taco size, street tacos are usually on 3” tortillas and they use 5” tortillas** We came very late in their hours (Austin traffic and they close at 6 pm) but the staff was very understanding and welcoming; everyone that worked there was so nice. They also informed us they have extended hours at a food truck at a nearby neighborhood bar (if I can find it I’ll come back to update my review). The price: I want to say it’s more on the expensive side but unfortunately it’s just pretty on par with taco prices in Austin- BUT I will say the quality and flavor are there so these are actually worth it. It was pretty dark when we arrived but it looked like limited parking.
Joined the top 3 taco spots in Austin after the first bite. Just masterful. Walking up to the truck it transported me to Mexico. It was surreal. Lives up to the hype, very friendly staff. Hadn’t heard a “buen provecho” from anyone outside my family in a minute. Tortillas are a revelation.
First time here, taste just like tacos from Mexico. We don't have enough places like this in Austin. Went for the pastor tacos, only available on Saturdays while they last. Suadero and Tinga de Pollo were both excellent, salsas were delicious, I prefer a little more heat, not disappointed though.
This place is LEGIT. Incredible incredible INCREDIBLE tacos. I got their specials- bistec (added cheese) and al pastor and they were soooooooo incredible. The Jamaica Agua Fresca was pretty great too!! Very refreshing. I honestly think I have n’t had better tacos anywhere else! My only complaint, and it’s literally so so small, was the table we had was a little crooked, on a slant so we had to make sure our drinks didn’t slip. I’m not even worried about that really though because the area isn’t very big anyway. The food was fast, PIPING hot, and the staff were so friendly and kind. Definitely check this place out.
Maybe the best tacos in Austin?? My partner and I arrived later in the day and they were already out of pastor, so we ended up with tinga de pollo, suadero, and carnitas - every single one of them incredible! They have 3 salsas of varying spice level and those were also delicious. I look forward to returning to try the pastor one day! There are several tables for dining near the food truck. I’m not sure if the canopy coverage is always out, but it was nice to block the sun on a July summer day. Every person working was so kind ❤️
Visiting from San Diego and WOW these were the best tacos we’ve ever had. Coming from a city with top-tier tacos right next to the border, our standards are very high but Paprika blew us away. We got Al Pastor and Suadero. The tortillas are the freshest most flavorful we’ve had too. On top of that, they were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. An absolute gem in Austin… we’ll be dreaming about these tacos long after we leave!
Paprika recently moved into a brick and mortar location just next to where their food truck used to be located. We tried them about a year ago when doing a best tacos in Austin day. Of the 6 places we tried, we put Paprika in the bottom 2. This time I ordered 3 tacos to go, 2 suadero and 1 queso taco with tinga. They were out of bistec and pastor at the time. This time I again felt the tacos were good but not top 5 in Austin for me. Their tortillas are a bit thicker and on the chewier side. I liked the heat from the red salsa, but its flavor did not complement the taco for me. The queso taco is definitely the way to go if you like cheese.
The pastor tacos were alright. The quesitaco suadero was good, would recommend those.
It seems a little bit overhyped and overpriced. Not worth the wait in a town with so many great tacos. I would say that the tacos were generally good but not great. The quesadilla is not truly a quesadilla, it's a flour taco in the form of half a quesadilla for $7. The tortillas on the tacos lacked in quality. Saturday is Al Pastor and would give that taco 7/10. I compare my Al Pastor taco to Tacos El Gordo so the bar is set high with Al.
