Don't ever judge a book by its cover. You take a look at this place and then you walk inside and you don't think there's a chance that you're going to get one of the best bahn mi you've ever had. Then it happens. I got the OG and the passion fruit fish sauce wings, don't sleep on those either. I wish the sauce stayed on the wings but there is plenty in the bowl and you can dip them. The bahn mi was a 10. I destroyed it in an embarrassingly short time.
Fast, cozy, delicious. Host/waiter guy was super friendly. Ichiban Kirin on draft. Convenient location. No complaints besides location is sort of a "lock your bike" zone.
I would say the food is Asian fusion not Vietnamese but what we had was fresh and high quality. Portion sizes a bit smaller than most viet places but i liked the extra options of garlic shrimp and lamb on the menu. Ramen was a fusion of Japanese and Vietnamese and the bun vermicelli had a great sauce that came with it that was much more 3 dimensional in taste than most buns I’ve had around the USA. (I eat this Vietnamese food a lot- probably 2-4x a week).
I love Saigon so much. I think about it all the time and crave it (especially the bahn mi) which is unfortunate bc my boyfriend lives so close. They have a full coconut on the menu which is fun and delicious. One time they did torch my meat on my vermicelli noodles bc it was fun and we were the only ones in there, but it kinda ended up tasting like butan. I still loved it. That’s how much I love it lol. The host and service ppl are always very nice as well! Curry ramen is a MUST - haven’t tried the pho though. Def the best bahn mi I’ve had in Austin. I never leave reviews but for the amount of space they take up in my brain they deserve it!
What a flavor bomb!!! Wow, we were so blown away by Saigon on 7th! Their lemongrass tofu bánh mì was phenomenal - the tofu was prepared with fantastic spices and the bread had the perfect crunch and was so light. We also enjoyed their lemongrass tofu bún. It's possible that the tofu was prepared similarly, but the ingredients were all quite different and the juice in the bún added an extra layer of flavour. It was also packed with many veggies and noodles. The meals were so light and fresh but also filling. We really really enjoyed this place and will definitely be back!
We were visiting Austin from Colorado and any time I go to a new location I like to try Vietnamese food in that new location. Generally I like to get Pho, but since Austin is so hot I chose not to. I got a grilled chicken rice noodle bowl and it was delicious! My girlfriend got a Tofu rice noodle bowl and she said the tofu was seasoned incredibly well and it was the favorite food she had during our stay in Austin.
We came all the way from Houston and stumbled upon this amazing spot — what a gem! I had the best ramen and sandwich I’ve ever tried. Absolutely worth it, a thousand times recommended! The service was outstanding. Despite being the only server on a busy Saturday around 2 PM, she was incredibly efficient, kind, and attentive. Truly delightful. The atmosphere and flavors were simply exquisite. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Oh what a hidden gem! The food was very very delicious. I got the chicken bahn mi and although in the beginning it looked small, it was very filling and I was definitely full after. It is a casual place and the prices are very reasonable. There is somewhat enough parking for the amount of seats they have right next to it.
I would give this place TEN stars if I could. It is rare to see a place where the food is served as beautifully as the pictures online but OMG it really was. And it is only 10 minutes from the airport. I visited Austin on a 5 day trip and Googled restaurants near my hotel. I’m soooo glad I found this one. I ordered 4 times and I usually don’t do ramen like that. The shrimp ramen was FLAVORFUL, creamy, and they weren’t stingy about anything. The basil leaves and bamboo shoots were perfectly balanced. Also, the eggrolls were crispy and full of goodness. On my last day I picked up and to-go order for a friend to drop off then had more time so I went back to eat one last time. I called while on my way and asked if they could have it ready so I could eat before headed to the airport. Andy was so accommodating and did just what I asked. He was friendly, attentive and quick. Also, and I’m probably spelling it wrong Phong/Fong was a great host. He helped me decide what I want to eat, provided excellent customer service and was fun. Last, Melvin (Melbin) in the kitchen, prepared my food perfectly. I hope you all never change a thing. This place is perfect!! Whomever said this was a sketchy part of town was just scared IMO. There were homeless just like all over Austin but I never felt unsafe or scared. If I ever come back to Austin this will be my first stop. They made me feel so welcomed.
Amazing Vietnamese restaurant close to lady bird lake.we ordered the spicy chicken bun and curry ramen. Spicy chicken bun was delicious…it wasn’t very spicy. Their egg rolls were the best egg rolls I have had so far. The curry ramen was delicious too! We got tofu with the soup ramen which was soft. Mushrooms and the onions very flavourful. The curry ramen would be a must try here…it wasn’t like a fusion of Japanese and Burmese cuisine 😁
We ordered on Postmates and delivery was quick, but the prices were steep. While we were full after the meal, we weren't truly satisfied with the overall experience. Wok Seared Lamb Bun ($18) + 2 Fried Eggrolls ($3): This was the most unique item on the menu--we hadn't seen lamb bun or banh mi at a Vietnamese spot before, so we had to try it. It ended up being the best of the three dishes we ordered. The noodles were slightly cold, but the lamb was flavorful and well-cooked. There was a nice variety of vegetables and a solid nuoc mam. The egg rolls were small and sliced in half lengthwise. They stayed a bit crispy and were decent, though not particularly memorable. Grilled Pork Banh Mi ($12): The grilled pork was tasty but too salty, and the bread wasn't crispy or complementary to the ingredients. Overall, the banh mi lacked the quintessential Vietnamese flavors we expected. Corn Ribs ($10): The entire corn rib was very soft. The flavors were good, but at $10, it didn't feel like a great value.
Tiny space, busy, need one more person working to make things run smoother, but maybe there isn't room. I had the vermicelli noodles with shrimp and veggies added fried vietnamese egg rolls. Great flavors, shrimp was perfectly cooked and tender as can be, sauce was balanced sweet and sour, really tasty. I was a little bummed that my Vietnamese coffee was pre-mixed. It's fun to mix in the sweetened condensed milk and try sips of the strong coffee by itself and also various strengths as you mix it.
Been trying to find my designated pho place in Austin but can say this place is not the one. The broth has no richness to it and when you add both hoisin and siracha sauce to it - it felt like I was just drinking the sauce. And no I did not drench it. The broth just lacks flavor overall. The summer rolls were great! Besides that will most likely not come back here for pho.
I’d been looking forward to trying this spot and really wanted to love it, especially since it’s quite a drive from where I live. The service was genuinely fantastic—our server was warm, attentive, and even offered water for my dogs, which I appreciated. The food came out quickly as well. In terms of flavor, everything was fine but more fusion-leaning than authentic. I’m Vietnamese and grew up eating traditional dishes, so my bar is pretty high. We ordered the corn, egg rolls, pho, and a grilled pork bánh mì. I ordered the “OG” bánh mì without veggies for my son and it ended up being just bread and pork belly—not exactly the classic version I expected, though I get that it’s their interpretation. Overall, good service and speed but flavor was just average for me. Parking is limited as any location in downtown. Worth coming to try this restaurant out.
We tried their vermicelli with tofu and their banh mi, we were a little disappointed in both. They both tasted just alright, I'm a big fan of vermicelli and feel like this missed the mark. For some reason the strawberry lemonade was half lemonade and half seltzer. We mixed it up really well and it tasted better than before. Service was great, our hostess was new but we could tell she was doing her best. Overall I'm going to try a different place next time I'm craving some vermicelli.
Very limited parking, 4-5 spots only. The service is sloowwww! Took a good 10 mins just to get waters and then another 10 to place our orders. We ordered the Banh Mi hoping that will come out faster considering it’s a sandwich, but unfortunately after waiting 20 mins , had to walk upto the server/ billing area to ask if they are going to take long. Banh Mi itself was pretty dry with lack of sauces inside, and vegetables not being aptly pickled. The whole experience was not the best! Might give it another go to try a different dish, and to give them the benefit of the doubt! Definitely was not worth $11 though.
