My meal at Sophie's Cuban Cuisine - Flatiron showed why people recommend it. The serving sizes here are enormous. Their service creates return customers. This spot maintains fashionable elements and tidiness. This spot earns exceptional recognition.
I came here for my lunch break around 12:50. There was no wait for the food, and I was able to find an empty table. I brought Combo #1, which comes with 2 empanada, sweet plantains, and a canned soda or water. I was stuffed after eating😭, and the meal was $10 and change. Everything tasted good as well.
This place is right around the corner from my office and I frequent it a lot! Definitely always delicious and the staff has been super friendly every time I’ve gone to pickup. I would (and do) recommend this place to everyone.
The modest dining room features people who serve with genuine smiles. The entire staff is attentive to needs. The whole experience was delightful to our senses. Whatever is the situation, the food is simply. Outstanding. This restaurant satisfies my standards.
This restaurant adds something unique to the local food scene. This restaurant proves good food can be affordable. Low prices with generous food servings. I noticed how the staff maintained both courtesy and vigilance. This place complements existing local options.
The verified reviews on Yelp proved trustworthy. The restaurant has the right feeling. The meal features fresh components arranged artistically. The staff makes every interaction pleasant. I left feeling pleased.
The staff found solutions to my dining challenges. This restaurant earns credibility through customer attention. The experience was flawless. They use rare items to create excellent dishes. When I'm in this part of town, I'll return.
Every aspect of timing and service was well-coordinated. The workers are extraordinary! Every team member's smile helps create a pleasant experience. Their food quality reflects high standards throughout. This restaurant had everything right.
Are you in New York, around Times Square? Wondering what to eat? Me too, and I made the best choice ever by coming to Sophie's. I was wandering around during my first evening in NYC, wondering what I should eat. I stumbled upon Sophie's Cuban Cuisine after a long day and something pulled me inside. Not sure exactly, but I guess that looking through the window I got a glimpse of what was to come and just had to try it. Inside was a really colorful and calm environment with nice and cheerful Cuban music. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and a mango shake and they were ABSOLUTELY delicious. Both Lucia and Melanie, who served me, were really sweet and helpful. Couldn't have been treated any better. The gentleman, whose name I do not know but who so kindl6 brought me my shake to the table, as well! What a peaceful lovely place, and so beautifully decorated too as you can see on the pictures. Also I really enjoyed hearing the employees speak Spanish to one another in the background, made it feel so much more authentic!! For my week long stay in NYC I have been planning to eat at a different restaurant every day, but I feel I have to change those plans and explore some more dishes from their menu.
I’ve not been to one in a while. It’s gotten very modern with kiosk ordering. The food was great, very flavorful.
short: delicious and big enough portions can save half for a second meal; unfortunately, even when requesting the manager, nothing was done to address the rude female employee. long: I started eating at Sofie's at their 23rd St & Madison location that shut down years ago. I used to go regularly because they had a lunch special. The food is well seasoned and prepared. I can taste all the separate flavors. Even after microwaving the second half, it still tastes just as delicious. The portions are big, and it's real food, meaning it doesn't taste artificial like Chipotle. The location itself doesn't seem well designed, as it has a huge and odd empty space that can be better utilized. I just pick up my food and take it to go. The experience I had with a rude female employee truly eliminated my appetite. I recommend the food for anyone having a craving for Spanish food or just want two great meals for the price of one.
First visit, I really enjoyed my sandwich. This is basically like a Cuban McDonald’s, fast food. Very casual dining kind of atmosphere, very little little charm, but the food was tasty. This is right on a very busy commercial stretch of sixth Avenue and while we were having lunch, a somewhat aggressive homeless man came in demanding money from the customers. Not the establishments fault, but this is what you were going to find in this area with all the mentally ill people out on the streets these days.
Delicious and freshly prepared food. I got my Cuban sandwich to go. The sandwich was piping hot but I couldn't wait so I nearly burned my mouth. Crunchy, flat, very cheesey. It's missing something in the seasoning but it's still delicious. I spent $16 on the combo which includes the sandwich yucca fries and a canned soda. The yucca fries were amazing. Freshly fried, chunky. I was beyond full so no complaints on the portions. No regrets.
I was more excited to come here than I was actually eating the sandwich. I got the combo #2 which got me a sandwich, chips, and soda. I chose the Mojo Pork with a Twist which I was mainly attracted to because of the fried plantains, and honestly that was the only thing I really loved about the sandwich. The pork felt flavorless to me like when I ate this sandwich I didn’t really taste any meat. It just felt like a plantain and bread sandwich, which the bread was nice and fresh so that was good. I also tried the guava and cheese empanada which I loved. The flavor was on point - sweet and a little tangy. There was a good amount of filling and the dough was very flakey! Loved this
Mediocre at best. They have a sign outside that says empanadas $1.99 of course this is not true. That’s only up until noon then they’re almost double but of course the sign doesn’t say that very deceptive.
As others have noted, while the food is good customer service isn’t great here. Across my last two visits I’ve noticed the staff can sometimes make it hard to get their attention if yelling or talking amongst themselves when you walk in. It only matters when you want to order and are being ignored. Yesterday around 5 pm I asked for napkins missing from my bag and the guy at the front desk gave me one single napkin, which he crumpled in his hand as he handed it over. Thankfully I only needed that one to wipe the table where I’d eaten but seemed like another weird instance of their lacking basic courtesy and hospitality for customers upon entry.
The two people who helped me were cool and for each of them a gave a star, BUT!!! When there are customers in the business, do not yell out to your staff and complain about a lot of food being left out the night before. A person really hungry and anxiously waiting for their food may very well hear that and get 100% turned off! I didn't mention anything to not mess up my day because I already paid and didn't want to deal with the hassle, but I really didn't enjoy the food after hearing that. It's honestly ridiculous, insensitive and inconsiderate. Thank you lady, whoever you are, for ruining my lunch! Would you honestly return after that?
Good evening, I arrived at Sophie’s at 6:53 PM this evening, despite the posted closing time of 8:00 PM. A gentleman working there (short, dark-skinned, very slim build) told my husband and me that the restaurant was closed because, in his words, they had “run out of everything.” I’ve never encountered this before, especially while the restaurant was still within operating hours. I’m requesting that you please review your camera footage around 6:53 PM to confirm this interaction. For reference, I was wearing a green fur coat and was accompanied by my husband. Thank you for looking into this. I look forward to your response.
