I really loved this place! Small little local place hidden way down at the end of the street down by the ocean passed The Flying Flags location. Probably not many travelers may know about this place because of its location. My daughter and I love cats, so of course, we enjoyed all of the cute pictures of the cats throughout the cafe. We had 3 in our party, and we ordered the granola coconut pancakes, the cinnamon roll, and the fish and chips. All of it was super yummy, and we enjoyed our stay. The weather was great but we sat inside and had a nice view. Our server and busser were both great. Our busser complimented my daughter and I she was super sweet, but we didn't get her name. We will definitely come back in the future.

Great locals eatery. We visited frequently during our Central Coast vacation. Our food was served fast and hot each time. The clam chowder was very good and the fried oysters were excellent!

Great place to grab lunch with the family. Reasonable price. Large portion. Logan our server was super friendly and courteous. He explained the menu well and made a couple recommendations. Onion rings made on site are really crispy and tasty. Clam chowder bread bowl is really hearty and satisfying. Seafood Po boy sandwich hit the spot. My philly cheese steak sandwich was tender and full of sweet caramelized onions. Chicken fried steak was savory. I enjoyed the rice pilaf with veggies. I noticed most of the guest around me was joyfully finishing their plate. I appreciate the restaurant manager at the end of our meal asking" how was our food". Great food and we are satisfied.

Great little hidden gem! Open for breakfast lunch and dinner. I had breakfast this morning; amazing bacon! Coffee was decent. Last night I had lobster tacos on special for $22. Not bad at all! Quaint little spot. There is also a patio with glass to block the wind and space heaters. Love it here. My server was a little off the ball, and the girl working with him had to pick up his slack and refill my coffee several times, So -1 star on the service category.

I've been here a few times, and the food, service, and atmosphere are all really good. My wife had the stuffed shrimp, and I had the stuffed salmon. We both stole from each other's plates and agreed that the food was fantastic. The Clam Chowder is some of the best we've tried in the area. Will continue to return and recommend!

I got the ahi tuna tacos which were absolutely delicious they were a great size and can't with rice and beans. The amount of sushi grade who tuna in there made these tacos delectable and a great deal! and my husband got the oysters and chips which he said was delicious as well. The service was great and there was no wait. Cute little place close to the pier.

Oh my gosh! The Clam chowder is amazing!!! And there rest of the menu definitely does not disappoint. My only issue is that there are too many great things to try and not enough time.

This cafe is on near the pier at Avila and has a view of the harbor. I stopped in for breakfast. I asked for a scramble without eggs. #allergygirl got a delicious mix of broccoli, onions, zucchini, tomatoes and potatoes and a side of sourdough toast. Having allergies makes breakfast a hard meal to order. Fat Cats hit it out of the park! Thanks!!

This place is legendary in the area. We have been several times over the last 30 years. For being on the harbor I was hoping for more of a fish selection. The menu was mostly crab, a few cods, and shrimp. I did get the breaded prawns and they were good with the rice pilaf. My husband got the fish and chips and he enjoyed them.

The waitstaff was excellent, the cinnamon rolls were amazing, and the view was beautiful. I would go back for the cinnamon rolls. The crab benedict was good and had a fair serving of crab.

Most food is fried. But, they do have sandwiches. Generous portions for scallops. Halibut tasted fresh and delicious. Clam chowder was very good. Kids’ fish and chips was above average.

The food was as good as I remember, service was really nice. Has an OK view of the bay from the patio that can be obscured by vehicles in the parking lot. Lots of patio seating, but smaller indoors. Definitely worth the visit. Had an opened faced crab sandwich and a grilled fish sandwich. Both were very tasty. I debated the breakfast which is served all day

It was a glorious day in Avila Beach out near Port San Luis With clear blue skies and warm sunshine on an October day we were all together as a family at Fat Cat’s Cafe. Although the setting is very pretty nearby and we have been here many times, it’s not the same anymore. The server he did not even know what the price of a cup of coffee it was and did not take time to go find out. The waitress was lovely and moved an umbrella so that we could have some shade. The patio is very sunny and it gets hot But the worst thing is they have a severe problem with meat wasps. In fact, one of them rolled in the syrup on my pancakes right in front of me. Only one of us reported that their food was really good and they ordered special pork tamales that day. The rest of us were fairly disappointed. With only a few exceptions, but none of that matter because we really could not enjoy ourselves because the flying, pesky insects were so bad. I could see that there were some traps for these meat wasps in various locations, but they were not doing the job. We tried not to let it ruin our day. But the young toddler with us had to be consoled because of the bees. Showing them away was not helpful and it was a real chore to eat any of our food. Meat wasps come out of nests that are underground. They are difficult to get rid of. We are unable to come back.
