Hecks of Avon

Very nice little cafe with outstanding food and service. They have a small bar area and a nice outdoor seating area outside for whenever the weather decides to cooperate. I've only been there twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both visits were thourghly enjoyable. At the upper end of the price range but the local farm to table ethos, excellent prep and presentation more than justified the co$t. I look forward to seeing how the dinner experience stacks up!

We sat on the patio on a Sunday morning. Excellent all around. Busy but not over crowded. Great food and atmosphere with attentive service. I had the ABC omelette which was a unique combination of flavors, and the potatoes were amazing!

First time here at the Avon location---a slight break from shopping at a nearby plaza. This cafe/diner is not your typical. It's definitely a cut above the rest. From the location, to the interior decor, to the rich and tantalizing menu, it is certainly worth coming back to. All ingredients and meats are local and everything made from scratch, from light to decadent, vegan to carnivore options, it literally has it all in such a concise menu. Price is more expensive than your usual cafr/diner type...BUT the food experience and ambiance is deserving of the price! Parking was a little tricky, in that you had to come out of the plaza in order to get to another mini plaza adjacent to it; parking was plenty but very tight. Reserved via Google and seated within the time given (awesome), greeted by the hostess, and received by a very top notch waitress, Juliet. Kudos! She was very knowledgeable and gave me options as a first time visitor. Attentive and always with a smile. She knew when I needed another refill for coffee (thank you)...AND THE COFFEE--- cinnamon/coconut as the standard. That is rather high! I see what you did there; Smooth move... I ordered the Short Rib Hash on a skillet--- miso mustard , red onions, brussel sprouts, on a bed of potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, 2 cracked eggs on top, buttered lightly- toasted french bagette, and spicy aoli...wow! Filling and big portioned. I just wish it came with more bread to soak in all that oil/butter goodness! Nonetheless, the plate was clean when I was through. Very delicious. 5++ stars all the way.

My group of four had a great time at Heck's Cafe in Avon. I am so glad there is another location in Lorain County! The menu selection suits a wide variety of palates and preferences. The Baked Brie was super tasty and so too was the Spinach and Beet salad. My friend raved about the Fish 🌮 that she selected. Fantastic service as well!

Great burger and the salted caramel pretzel bread pudding was amazing. And they still have the same coffee we remember from 30 years ago!

Food was excellent, I loved my burger. You get a ton of fries and the seasoning is great. My kid and I shared a strawberry milkshake and it was phenomenal. The staff was also very friendly and food came out quick.

Great service and food, nice cozy atmosphere. It is one of the best places to eat in the Avon Lake area.

Always a great experience at Heck’s! They have great burgers and salads! I will say I miss their taco Tuesdays tho!

Erica was very attentive and offered great drink recommendations (and steered me away from the not as good drinks) We ordered the shrimp gambas, mushroom empenandas and the tuna tartare and they were all delicious. We also ordered the bread pudding and creme brulee, and this was the best bread pudding I've ever had. Great experience and would love to come again.

The atmosphere is what makes it special. The garden room with the glass ceiling gives it a unique vibe you won’t find anywhere else in Avon—bright, open, and perfect for brunch or dinner. It feels upscale without being pretentious, which makes it just as good for a casual night out as it is for a date or family dinner.

We were visiting family and decided to stop here. Oh my goodness! The appetizers., burgers and drinks were amazing The bar tender who served us was friendly, personal and fun to talk to. The front of the house manager even stopped by to inquire on the amazing service and food and we explained to her absolutely fabulous.

This was our first time visiting Hecks in Avon. The staff were so welcoming, the atmosphere was very pleasant. The food was amazing, it’s definitely worth the price, which is also very reasonable. I would highly recommend this place. My husband and I had a great date night out.

The service here was very good and attentive. The food was good and all the table liked their meals. My burger was dry and disappointing but would definitely try again. I loved the espresso at the end!

My husband and I came here for the first time to try it out, since we are from Avon and wanted to try something local. First off I must say I will definitely be coming back and long term due to the bartender Sergio! He was absolutely awesome!👏🏼 He was welcoming, quick and good drinks, funny and entertaining. He just overall made the experience for us. I couldn’t say more about him he even recommended to my husband he should add chicken to your Shoka bowl which he did and he said it made the bowl even better and my Rocky River burger was perfect. I will make sure to tell friends and family to come taste the food and make sure Sergio is working because he will make it that much better with his phenomenal personality. Not to mention he is easy on the eyes if you know what I mean 😉

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant. The service was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Our server, Victor, was incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional—he made sure everything was taken care of without ever being intrusive. The timing of the service was spot on. The salmon was on point—perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and the presentation was a solid 10/10. You can really tell when both the kitchen and the service staff care about what they do. Victor’s work was truly perfect and made the entire experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Hi All, Went for brunch, had a great time our server Sydney was fantastic! I ordered the Caprese Avacado Toast (ask for a steak knife really thick bread😉) and G ordered Hecks Croque Monsieir. They were both devine. The coffee was excellent. Just right. Also since everything was so good we took home dinner as we wanted to try the burgers. We took home the Avon burger and the Heck burger and they were delicious. Med well to perfection a nice cross-section of pink and tender tasty. Found out there is one literally around the corner from home in Beachwood. The guys went on Sunday and had a great time! Came for lunch, food and service were fantastic. They were backed up by a large to go order so they brought us complimentary fries while we waited. Food was also worth the wait, 10/10 will be back.

We went for our NYE dinner with the fam. Sydney, our server, super sweet, we ordered the calamari, cocktails, and 2 new burgers they put on the menu. It was a busy night for sure but Sydney made sure we had an excellent experience! Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice dinner out 😁⭐️

We went here on a Sunday night, and it was busier than expected, but still no wait time. Service was excellent. We ordered at the table but unfortunately had to get food to go and leave. Even taking it home my burger was the bomb! Can only imagine how good fresh from the kitchen. The menu is incredible, exactly the fancy funky burger selection my heart desired! And to have gluten free buns?! Heaven. And the music they were playing was right up my alley 😊

This was our first time going to this location of Heck's. The whole place had a clean, modern look to it. Very open and comfortable. We ate on the patio area which stayed a cool temperature even in the heat of summer. The food was great and the service was quick and helpful. We had our son with us and they made sure to ask us for anything he might need as well. We will definitely be visiting again. Good vibes and great atmosphere. Perfect for brunch with friends!

So delicious that after dinner with excellent service by Pamela, we had to return for lunch before flying home. Camilla made sure we had the same excellent service & also made sure our food was free of allergens. When Doug checked with us, we again gave rave reviews for the cocktails & variety of dishes at dinner & again for our brunch lunch experience. The atmosphere is attractive & we loved the local sourcing. Only wish you had a location in Westfield, NJ!

Food was good, the service was nice but a bit slow. Waited for an hour or so just to order, it was quite busy. We dined on Saturday, and it was noisy. We made a reservation in advance. They have kids menu, their portions were pretty good size. Famous for a blueberry burger. Also have gluten free options.

Even more recent visit Dec 23 They had a gluten-free bun, and it was amazing! I can't wait to go back. Literally. 2017 We stopped here for a burger and weren't disappointed. My husband ordered a brieberry burger, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I had an avon burger, but it was just ok. The fries were great. Dessert wasn't spectacular, but it tasted good. visit Oct 2022 I ordered potstickers. You get 5 for $13, and they were just okay. Also, when I got there, I had to use the restroom. As soon as I got to the door, I noticed the office door was open, and there was a good amount of cash on the desk. No employee around. I walked back to the front and waited for someone and walked them back, and showed them. This person said, "I'm aware." "I just walked away for a minute." 🥴😳 Wow. I was astonished at the complete lack of concern. If I were a bad person, I could have just grabbed it and went about my day. If I were that person's boss, I would have written them up immediately.

The waitress was amazing, Noelia took great care of us. I ordered the Hot Fire Burger. It was very good but I wish it had a little more season to it. We ate on the patio which was very nice on this pleasent summer evening. Overall a nice experience.

It was nice but seemed like there was only one server for half of the restaurant. This made us wait a while longer than expected. I wish you could get Mac and cheese as a side instead of French fries. Since you can't, I got the side salad instead. This was good and so was the Avon Burger. I like the perogies and burrata appetizers but there should be an easier way to serve the bread so your party doesn't have to put their hands or used silverware on it.

Went for Sunday brunch. Food was great except my mother had a problem with her breakfast. The server immediately handled it and then went above and beyond to make my mother happy. Because of the service we not only ended up tipping far more than normal but will return. Sometimes things can go wrong but it's how it's handled that matters. Thank you so much for making it a positive experience.

It's very nice place. Bartender was very busy but very polite. She suggested the pot stickers for an appetizer, they were all right. She also suggested the short ripped for dinner, although a little tough this dish was delicious

My burger was good. So we're the fries. Restaurant is clean and the service was very good.

Hanging out with friends this weekend and we went in for happy hour drinks. Food good and drink nicely made. Shift changed and incoming team was less attentive and probably missed out on selling us a round... we just grabbed the check instead.

Had a family party there. Food was unique and fresh! Service was pretty good. Atmosphere was nice. Would go again!

Hecks in Avon has a wonderful outdoor covered patio/terrace area that has the flex of removable walls and windows to adjust to the weather. It's a great atmosphere! Food has always been consistently good. Burgers are awesome. Service has been excellent and the speed with which the food is brought to the table is impressive. My only suggestion is that they give WAY too many french fries with the burgers. It's a massive pile. And half the time they don't taste fresh, like they've been sitting around awhile or were reheated. Tonight mine tasted like they were fried in old oil. I asked the server about the portion size and his opinion was that it was about 50/50 if people typically eat the whole pile or do not finish them at all. Milkshakes for dessert are good and unusual treat easy to take to-go.

After having to switch gears for our Girl Scout Troop Friendsgiving very last minute due to another restaurant advising to call ahead a couple of days with our larger group and them basically refusing our group when we got there, we landed at Hecks. Thank you for saving our Girl Scout Troop's Friendsgiving outing. The food was great, the service was amazing and management obviously has their stuff together. Thanks to all for a wonderful experience!

This restaurant is now next door to where it used to be, in a bigger, fancier setting, with multiple dining rooms, a long bar, and a large patio. The menu is also more eclectic with smaller portions and higher prices. Service is a work in progress, a common problem in most restaurants nowadays.

I’ve been to this reimagined Heck’s Cafe several times after moving back to the Cleveland area 5 years ago. Heck’s was once the jewel of John Searles career and Rocky River. It was fun to work there for a summer with its eclectic staffing and boutique upscale design. Today the menu looks to be constant and without change - no more risk taking. The food is good quality, but not as crisply produced decades ago. The interior is very middle of the road and the furniture shows wear and tear. And, the new patio appears to have no thoughts with wear and tear at post hurricane levels. The biggest detail missing, that keeps me from ever feeling special eating here is just that - details. There is no longer anyone paying attention to details. Track light is randomly aimed at absolutely nothing, giving the bar and main room more of a Friday night football stadium feel than dimmed for dinner overhead. The patio table kerosene lights might help create a warmth and intimacy ambiance - but you need to light them. And, the tiniest detail gone, are the single fresh flower in a bud vase on each table. I know they don’t cost much at Heinen’s. A tulip, a rose, something unique. Heck’s is no longer unique. One word of advice, find the rheostat and dim those lights. The artwork is Kmart at its best, but to each their own.

Ordered carry out. Bill was very expensive. Order was not correct of what I ordered over the phone. The carry out drinks come in a small cup when I asked for a large. I will not be back. Update: Recieved a gift card from Manager for mistakes with carry out order and was asked to remove my review. I refreshed the review from 1 star to 3 star. Thank you Doug for the gift card. I will remember that you raise prices on Holidays. Thank you for the tip!

Food was good and so was the service but we were in a large group and had individual bills and of course we knew gratuity would be added. I was surprised they had charged 20% instead of the standard 18% and they also had us tip on the tax making it over a 20% tip on our bills. I just don't like games trying to take advantage of people. It left an impression on me and others so hopefully others and the owners will see this as well.

The only good part was the cut of filet mignon, that was not prepared adequately, Was more rare than medium rare. It seemed like the steaks were sous vide but were not reverse seared so the meat seamed boiled and the garlic butter was off the steak on the side instead of being seared with it. The roasted potatoes were harder than liked and were bland like just oil, no butter or salt added for taste. The only good part of the meal was the truffle pierogis were the best part which is sad for a $49 steak and potato dish. The drinks were heavy handed and pulpy. The service and decor were okay overall but meal was a let down for the price. Made better meals at home for a fraction of the cost.

Food was cold even burger. Burger well done asked to be sure could be medium. . Fries cold greasy and 1” pieces. Embarrassing because my guests came from WI. All photos on line only apply after 3 or not at all. As a vegetarian they got salads small limp Lettuce. NEVER WOULD GO BACK!
