I've only been here twice. Their food was tasty, especially the cornbread they serve before the food arrives! The atmosphere was pleasant & quiet. The service was nice. *The only thing I didn't care for was the smell of an old building when we first entered! I liked that the restroom was clean!
Thanksgiving feast are the bomb. Got xmas coming up
Always polite, professional, and always gives perfect service!!
Best place to get some pie.
Great service, wonderful food!
Great restaurant lunch happy hour and dinner. Pleasant atmosphere staff is friendly. Chrystal our server is the best. She is friendly always make sure our order is as we requested and hot. We always ask for her. Managers interact with customers greeting Making sure all is well with all there customers.
Food is always good. My favorites are the shrimp tacos, fettuccine alfredo with chicken, and french dip. The portions are just right, generous but not gluttonous. Service is always excellent as well, servers are always friendly and respond well with additional or special requests. The bakery is stocked with the traditional M.C. pies and cheesecake, having tried several in the past 6-8 months, I can atest to their quality and deliciousness. Try their cookies, so very good. Cookies are well priced, at other bakeries you wiykd pay $2.50-$3.50 per cookie; M.C. prices theirs around $1.50. Highly recommend for food, service and value.
Went to order a Turkey Family Dinner about 5:00 pm 12/24/21. 15 minutes it was ready and everything was just right including the apple pie. I am very satisfied with our order, service and the price.
Marie Calendars is the best. Their food is always as wonderful as you would expect it to be. We sat for a very long time waiting for our food when a lady approached our table apologizing for the delay. They hurried our food out to apologetically and even provided a discount to our bill! We didn't complain or ask for anything. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience.
They've improved their food. I like it again! It's a nice place for family, but may be a bit expensive. We really love eating in the bar area, as they have a giant TV. Lastly their pies are delicious. 😍😋🤩 Wish they'd bring back the chicken, artichoke dish, or war iyr absolutely FAVORITE item. Now I get the turkey dinner plate. It's like Thanksgiving in April.
I went in for Thanksgiving dinner. My server was right on it! Always checking on me and catered to my little extra whims of whipped cream and extra gravy. 😅 I'm giving the food a two-star because it was cold when delivered and the mashed potatoes had huge lumps. But I understand it's a busy holiday schedule but if they're going to try and do just to only selections on the menu then they should strive to at least always make sure that the plated meal is hot. I heard the group behind me send back their plates because they were cold as well. Overall it tasted excellent as expected and the pumpkin pie superb!
I remember then changing ownership quite some time back so despite all the other marie calendars closing we asked just to double check and yes. They are privately owned so the chances of them closing are very low, we always get the pie and pie combo it's always so good, there's also certain times where u can the pies go on sale but I can't quite remember usually the grandparents let us know about it but definitely great price and great food around the board.
My food was very delicious and my cousin finished all her food. Our server was very nice and took our orders right away since we already picked what we wanted from the menu. Our server gave us our drinks we ordered and when she started to walk away, but I wanted to ask about cornbread for me and my cousin. I could see our server looking straight ahead but I could see the side of her and her eyes, and she rolled her eyes, like, "What now"?! Because she put the drinks down and started to walk away fast so my cousin didn't have the chance to say, she wanted to order cornbread. I know it's something minor but to us, Marie Callender's is known for the delicious pies and cornbread and the honey butter. We're not old little ladies, it's like comfort food to us. I thought, Wow! That was uncalled for, for her look bothered. Of course I didn't say anything to her because she was very nice and so was the other young lady who brought us our food. I think my cousin asked for her cornbread when we first ordered, but our server didn't bring it. That's when I asked her for my cousin. I've been going to Marie Callender's with my family since the 80s when I grew up in Torrance, CA. I'm sad that location is closed and gone, and only one left in Gardena, CA where my mom lives and I take there whenever I can visit her. But I never had a server look annoyed. She wasn't far away and I didn't say, "Excuse me, excuse me"! We were very polite to her. I don't know her name and I don't want to get her fired at all. But when we pay money to have a delicious meal at any establishment, we don't want a server, waiter or waitress, look like we're bothering them. If we were bothering her, it wasn't demanding or rude, we just wanted cornbread. I remember it was always given to us but did the rules change that we have to order it separately? Plus, it wasn't busy but was thar MC's short handed and she just forgot? I'll still keep supporting Marie Callender's!
Love Marie’s whenever I’m in town. Food was tasty and prepared correctly and arrived fast. Service was fast and friendly.
Haven't seen a Marie Callender's in many years. Ordered the French Dip Deluxe and was the best I've had in a very long time... bread was perfect and not super hard like some other places, meat was so tender and not tough like some other places. My husband had the Classic French Dip and he also said it was the best French Dip he'd had in a long time too. Now I'm wondering why there aren't Marie Callender's around in our area any more. Marked down service because of our 1st server who never came to even get our drink order. Another server noticed and she took wonderful care of us. If she had been our 1st server, I would have marked as 5 stars.
I had the salad bar, which was good. Plates are ice cold. The best thing...they just might have the coldest beer in Bakersfield. Chilled glass and beer served at 29 degrees.
Marie Calendars is always worth a stop! Pot pie was great and took slices of pie to go for later. The interior of the restaurant is getting a bit old, but it’s still a clean and reliable stop on the road.
We have always love eating in this restaurant, the waitresses are very polite and professional they're kind and they always greet us with a warm smile, the food is delicious we often go for breakfast and the prices are great, we definitely recommend this place it feels like home
Food and customer service was great! Our server delightful she refilled our drinks with out us having to wave her down made sure we had what we needed. Food portions are huge, so you can defiantly share. everything was cooked to perfection. (Breakfast) AM visit.
Hadn't been to one of these in years. It was as good as i remember. I got the mini pot pie, and it was delicious, it came with a salad and slice of pie as well. Service was friendly and food was out to us in a reasonable amount of time. The place was clean and neat, definitely will be back again soon
I came here with my family for dinner. Tina the manager is amazing! Rolando the chef made a really good steak medium rare. The steak and shrimp was delicious. My kids enjoyed the fettuccini alfredo. The veggie tacos 🌮 were great too!
Went here for my wife's birthday and the food and service was good. Kinda disappointed that they didn't offer anything for the birthday girl. Like a free piece of pie, but she enjoyed herself
Marie Callender’s on California has amazing customer service! We had an issue with our to goorder & they made it right for us with no issues whatsoever. Super understanding staff!
The servers are so kind and sweet. A very inclusive environment for people of all abilities. Food was Delicious and piping hot, coming back any time i need to feel that warm glow in my belly. Also try the pumpkin cream cheese pie its amazing.
Our server was out of this world she was very knowledgeable and she is very friendly and professional. Thank you 😊
The food was exceptional, and our host was wonderfully kind and welcoming. I highly recommend this establishment; we gave it a perfect ten out of ten. My husband and I enjoyed the meal for two, which included an appetizer, entrée, and a slice of pie. And, of course, the complimentary cornbread with honey butter was absolutely delicious.
I had a cheeseburger, and fries Combo The can with a piece of pie..was excellent. It was my mother-in-law's birthday. We basically went there for Pie Been going to Marie calendars for many years never had a bad piece of pie The waitress was very kind and was on top of things.
Marie Callenders has good food and great pies! My wife and I enjoy their delicious coconut pie. Try it out, and I believe you will not be disappointed.
Been there a couple of times love when they give us the blueberry banana bread
I always love going here. Its such a cozy atmosphere with excellent hospitality. At a work event i recently attended, the food was amazing as always, the service was amazing and the manager was right there helping the servers due to the size of the function.
First time going here was very pleasant. Me and the 'party' of people all seemed to leave content with full bellies. I regret not trying some of the pies they had.
Recently visited Marie Calendars on a cold and rainy day for some good quality comfort food. I had the mini pot pie with a salad . The salad was delicious and was fresh . My pot pie was brought out, steaming out, right out of the oven. Very warm and satisfying on a cold rainy day. To top off this wonderful meal, I ordered a slice of French Apple Pie A la Mode. Delicious! Service was fast and efficient. Great place to dine! Love the pot pies and the pie choices👍
Went to pick up some pies Isabel was a great help she took my order and had my pies ready in no time will definitely recommend this to my friends and family.
We had the best service from the front to the back, Isabel is so sweet when she sat us and cassie the waitress was wonderful and fast. The food came hot and the pie is so good. Come see them if you want comfort food. Everything is good!!!!
I took my wife for lunch and our waitress Cassie was very attentive and quick what a wonderful experience will definitely be repeating that again soon.
I stopped off for breakfast this morning. I’ve been here several times before and have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here several times. I thought back, I’ve never had a bad meal here. Their food has been consistently good every time. Fresh, hot and great. I ordered two eggs, two sausages and two pancakes. It was very good. Pancakes were thick and fluffy, they were delicious. Taylor was my waitress, she was friendly, nice and helpful. They also give you a complimentary piece of crumb blueberry coffee cake, served warm with butter, it’s outstanding.
One of the only Marie calendars left. Don't give up on us, it was packed! We love this place. It's apart of my childhood. Foods amazing per usual. Keep up the pot pies.
We have enjoyed Marie Callender’s years ago and thought that weren’t anymore left. So when we saw this one was open we had to eat here! We had their cornbread and chili and their chicken pot pie. Both were prepared and served as Marie would have herself! We had double cream lemon pie and the Kahlua cream cheese pie , both were delicious.
Marie Calendars is a place I've been going to since I was a kid, their cornbread and honey butter, comfortable and warm atmosphere with patient and welcoming staff are just as I remember them. The food came out steaming hot, fresh and well plated! We didn't have to wait very long either considering they were quite busy at the time. The pumpkin and apply pie we received was absolutely delicious as well, if you haven't tried a Marie Calendars lunch, dinner and pie - then make a stop here and you won't be disappointed!

Amazing service from the waitress her name was Ashley and drinks were never empty would totally recommend to come here.
Amazing and delicious cuisine. Our waitress was very professional and treated our party very well. I got the prime rib and I wasn't disappointed.
Great soups, Sugar-Free pie options, one of which kinda reminded me of the mountain berry pie in Julian but sadly w/o the apples but a tasty option. Salad Bar is officially open again and the lunch deals are pretty great. It's quality food and decent prices with a great staff, always good
I came to order my family's 2019 thanksgiving meal. I ordered 1 whole turkey feast. 1 ham feast, and 1 Turkey breast feast. All three come with plenty of sides; enough to feed 16 people. We've been doing this for years and NEVER got a single complain. Good food, good service, and the best part....It's already done. Just heat and serve. Each feast comes with a pie, apple or pumpkin. As long as they offer this service we will use it. Recommended.
A consistently good place for family dinner. We can always count on tasty pot pies and fresh cornbread. The staff here is excellent. The salad bar hasn't looked fresh lately, I would recommend ordering a salad from the kitchen.
Had the mini shepards pie. The sauce they used had way too many mushrooms in it for my liking. Not sure why they would use a mushroom based sauce in the first place. Pie was ok. Service was decent
Very good service, especially in the sports bar area, great size menu, portions of food is just right, and plates are good size and value good. The rooms are clean and environment friendly,. Homestyle cooking as usual and always very good. We enjoyed the pies and everyone in our group ordered different types. All of them looked and tasted great as always. You might say they set the standard in quality and value in restaurants throughout the state
My first time back since the remodeling it was a huge improvement. The whole place is more open and well lit. The new seating is a big improvement you no longer sink into the seats if you sit in the booths, new chairs and tables are great. The main thing is the food everything we ordered was great but of course I'll have to go back a few times to try other selections but it was a great improvement so far. And of course the pies were great especially my favorite the key lime pie. Overall I think it's worth trying again.
This was my first visit to an actual Marie Callender's restaurant. I am mostly familiar with her frozen chicken pot pies. 😊 Decided to sit a spell for breakfast and what a pleasant surprise it was. The waitstaff was so friendly and the service was excellent. But the best part? The pancakes were some of the best I've ever tasted. Fluffy, slightly sweet, served with butter and warm syrup... delicious flavor! I also had eggs, bacon and hashbrowns but the pancakes absolutely were the stars of my meal!! I will definitely be returning. Next time I'll get dessert to go because those selections look delectable too!
Server lacked friendliness. But was very busy. Not enough employees
Stopped after going to visit at the hospital....usually order a tossed Cobb but I ordered the pot pie as I love the frozen from the store but mine at the restaurant was salty. Why is cornbread so scarse to get anymore?....order with an app. ...no cornbread & honey butter. at the restaurant it was a much smaller piece.
Classic chain that has great menu selection of variety with super taste. I love their Thousand island dressing and offer you a bite of my salad ! They are pie experts including their Chicken Pot Pie 🥧. Service was not that great and there were only 3 tables to wait on. Enjoy 😊 overall a great place to dine !
Love their cheesecakes! Always quick and sweet at the front. Coming back for lunch or dinner soon!

This was a terrible experience. I asked to sit by the door because I had had a bad day and needed some privacy. I was there with a friend who has a lot of tattoos on his head and arms. The manager came up and asked us to be in a few sets of running out with our paying last time we were there. Problem is we don't live there and had not been in restaurant previously. .. I felt it was a deformation of character and did not receive any apology or compensation.
3 stars because the waitress was great and their drinks pies and appetizers are worth it! Had a breakfast skillet eggs were rubbery why there a43 tater tots I don't know but genuinely tasted like the ones my kids pull out of the freezer! Honestly so disappointed probably won't be back again especially with a ticket for $54 and some food wasn't touched.
I been to Marie Callender’s many times. It’s a place we go to when we want a good family meal when we are out all day running errands. Today it was like I was in the twilight zone or better yet Opposite Day. The first thing I order is the cornbread. The moist cake like stick to the roof of your mouth cornbread. Today it felt like it was left in the Sahara for a day and then brought straight to the table. I ordered the meat loaf thinking it might be outstanding like everything I have tasted there. The only way I can describe the meat loaf…. a cheap Salisbury steak TV dinner. More gravy than meatloaf. Mash potatoes were bomb and so were the vegetables that can along with it. I love the service but I think the meatloaf needs a big makeover. I wish I could give 5 stars for the service maybe google can add a additional star rating for restaurants.
I haven't been in here for more than 30 years. This place could probably use some updating, but the service and attitude is top notch. I didn't give a higher rating on the food because I was less than impressed. I went Sunday after Mass with a dear brother and friend to celebrate his birthday. We had the buffet. I feel it was seriously overpriced given that the salad bar contained the cheaper salad topper items and main course items. I would have liked to see more leafy greens. I was surprised to not see any carrots either. I was less than impressed with the presentation also, given that the main course items appeared to be from the bottom of the barrel so to speak. Finally, for the money spent, I could have done better with Olive Garden's endless pasta and been happier! Again, though, the service was remarkable!
Marie Callender's has surely dropped on my list of favorite places to go. We had a party of 23, which we made a reservation for, and they were not prepared for our arrival. They misplaced the reservation & did not have us listed as coming even though we had changed the number of people coming a few days prior & they still had the reservation listed at that time. The service was mediocre at best. We had to wait long periods between drinks, most of the time requesting the service. We had to make requests several times at some points before getting fulfilled. We basically ate being ignored by our server the entire dinner unless we went and found her for help. The food was a gamble. Some people enjoyed their meal while others had over seasoned or overcooked meals. They were out of various desserts that we wanted to enjoy after dinner, which was disappointing since they are well know for their pies. The building has a disgusting odor that is reminiscent of a homeless camp & it feels dingy and dirty. My family used to really enjoy eating out there but now they hardly deserve the forced gratuity. Anyhow I really hope there are some changes made to bring it back to a respectful place to serve families decent meals again.
Trying to enjoy our meal in a somewhat relaxed environment.People on phone speaker on loud ( FaceTime). Ask waitress if they could do anything about it, said no. So ask person if they could turn off speaker. They were ignorant and said thank you thank you for repeatedly ignoring the question. It’s getting hard to go out and enjoy something whether it’s eating out or entertainment because people have no respect for other people. We stop at this Marie Callendar Bakersfield Ca.twice or more year but not anymore
This is a mixed review. Razzleberry pie was great. But PLEASE clean your bathrooms. It makes a person hope the kitchen isn't in the same condition.
My first time trying Marie Calenders breakfast. I just finished what should have been a great meal. I ordered an omelette with a side of sourdough toast. Unfortunately everything was very greasy and I wasn't able to finish. There was so much grease that it actually made me nauseated. The other problem was the service. It took 10 minutes for the waitress to show up and yet the place was empty. When she did appear, she was more concerned with her electronic device, and I never received several items that were specifically requested. It's not the worst service I've received but she was clearly distracted.
Had a tai salad nothing in it for the price. Service was good, ambiance average. Probably would not go again.

Was in town for work. My coworker and I wanted some good food, so we decided to come to Marie Callendar's. Nobody to be seen in the dining area yet we had to wait 10 minutes (the couple arriving after us got told the same thing and they actually questioned the host, lol). We got seated in the very back of the restaurant. We were able to order fairly quickly and received meh food. Chicken pot pie special for my friend. Open face turkey sandwich for me. We didn't receive the complimentary cornbread until we had to ask about it from two separate people. By the time they brought it we were literally done with our dinner. Lots of goofing off coming from the kitchen, we could hear it since we were sitting just outside the doorway. I don't live in Bakersfield but I wouldn't go back to this restaurant. It's sad too because so many of them are shutting down and they used to be so good!
Regan is a horrible bartender, Juan and Parker are great. Sat at bar and Regan served older gentlemen next to us and didn't even look our way and had empty glasses, and this isn't the first time. Will have to make general manager aware at this point. Unfortunately, Parker was off at this point.
Used to be a nice place to dune years ago. Walked in and was placed on the waiting list. Went to the bar to order a glass of wine. The person taking names as you enter said the you can not get a drink until after you've been seated. Just a thought, but maybe the management should consider offering mushrooms as an add-on instead of making it a main ingredient, one that can not be removed from the menu item, for nearly all dinner menu items.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was pretty unfavorable. Poor service, regarding drink refills and order taking. The big issue was that I ordered a cheeseburger and it was bad. It tasted like it had been microwaved at best. When I mentioned it to the server, she didn’t seem to care much. It was clear that it was bad, because I only ate about 2 bites. Hopefully we had an off night for the server and restaurant.
No one was there and it took forever to get the food and the food wasn't that great. It wasn't even hot either.
We waited for 10 minutes for the host to take are name to be put on the waiting list. She was no where to be seen. When she finally came we waited for another 30 minutes to be seated. Well after that. 10 more minutes for the waiter to come and start taking our order for drinks and food. Then after 1 hour from the initial time I walk through the front door I finally got my food. The big upset was after all the plates that they handed out with the corn breath, they where dirty someone did not washed those dishes properly. But the food was great
Our waiter was nice, but we didn't see much of him. The restaurant was busy, though. The salad I ordered was not chopped and had large pieces of the lettuce head. I had to chop it up myself with a butter knife since that is all I had at my table. The hamburger was awful! We spent about $55 and took the majority of the food home, gave it to the dogs, and went to Jack in the box. We will not be coming back here anytime soon, if ever. Restaurant food is too expensive these days for the experience not to at least be satisfactory. Since we still needed to eat and spent extra money at the Jack in the Box, this was a very expensive night out. We were highly disappointed.
Ordered online $47 worth of food. My daughters and my husband's food looked fine. I opened mine and it looked like someone’s leftovers. Barely any noodles & looked like someone ate some first. I had my husband take it back and they remade it. I wasn’t going to post since they remade it but my husband mentioned how the manager was defending the first meal that was given to us. Stating it was good enough by weight etc. So here are the pictures to compare. I will be sending to corporate as well. The half empty $18 plate vs the new plate they remade. Check your food before you leave, the manager is okay with sending out half empty meals. Sad, that the bare minimum is too much to ask for here. I appreciate the remade food from the staff though. The manager needs to work on her customer service skills and excuses though.
I placed a pick up order specifically asking for utensils and napkins (staying at hotel) and they didn't include them. Absolutely ridiculous. \n\nEating shepherds pie, Cesar salad and chocolate …
Spinach dip is okay . Horrible packing also, the staff is very rude unpleasant order. Threw our order at us on the cornbread is horrible . If u get a delivery they will mess up your order purposely…
Saw our waitress 2 times nothing after that had to wait about 5 minutes to se someone to get another glass of Tea. Kids runnning around yelling . We come here 2 or 3 times a month . But will be thinking if we will again or not . Saturday eating was a bomb and didn’t ask if we wanted the Cornbread
Came here with my fiance to meet up with her co worker friends 2/3/23. When she was giving out the receipts out at our table I asked (Regan H) waitress if I can put a order in. She told me she was the only one out on the floor. The she went to the table behind us people asked for more food an she took there order. Like what's the difference? I wasn't going to order big. Took her 20 mins to come back to me and ask what i wanted. No thank you. Horrible service experience.
Decided to give this restaurant a second chance and it’s still a one star for me. Food is bland, but of course the pie is delicious. It seems like they do not value their employees either. I’m so glad I did not get the server that was sick. I understand masks have been lifted for those vaccinated but she was sick. Knowing the food industry, if one of your employees are sick, they are supposed to send them home. I also over heard one employee asking another employee if they are working through their lunch AGAIN. Is this how bad management has this place that workers feel like they have to so they don’t get behind?
After having lunch today(10/25/2023) and paying my bill, I discovered a 20% gratuity had been added. Since I had unknowingly left a large cash tip, I feel I was cheated by the establishment. My last three trips there were less than acceptable, therefore my Marie Callender’s visits are terminated.
Ordered a cherry pie and French apple pie. Cherry was burnt and crust on top hard to cut through. French apple had almost no filling, just sugar and a little crumble. Pies were horrible and management was just oh, sorry. Wasted my time, my gas and ruined our dessert with guests. We will not be back after 30 years of faithfulness to this establishment. Avoid this place.
I get the holidays are just bit come on. When someone comes in for a purchase and is told you are out of stock and that you cannot preorder and the only way to get the pie is to come in the next day In the morning so you come and get in line when it opens and now you are saying it’s only for preorders. That’s really crappy customer service:
They brought me out the wrong order that was obviously one that had been sitting there for a while then tries to bring me the egg I asked for on my burger. I overheard her say just take the egg off that one to the cook instead of her just bringing the correct order and apologizing. My husband was done eating by the time I got what I ordered which was extra greasy and looked like they just threw it together as if I was being picky when it was her mistake. They wouldn’t take any of the dirty dishes away and the pie was disappointing. If this is because of prejudice or discrimination it’s unprofessional and honestly unacceptable. Not worth 52$! I just hope I don’t get sick from it like last time!
Ordered a ham and pie for thanksgiving and because there was NO adequate signs as to which line to get in for my order I ended up waiting in the wrong line for half an hour, and then had to wait another half hour in the correct line for my order. Come on guys, all you have to do is post proper well defined signage. The line I was supposed to be in said it was for Pies(in red ink) and Feast sides(in black ink which doesn’t stand out and isn’t notice from the parking lot) and the one I got in said it was for feasts, I figured that a ham would be available in the feasts line. PLEASE POST SIGNS THAT STATE WHAT CAN BE PICKED UP IN WHICH LINES. something like “single item orders and pie” would have been sufficient and “whole feasts only” for the other line would have directed me properly. Bad day to be wasting peoples time because of your lack of communication. I wasn’t the only person who got in the wrong line either, there were more than a few so it’s worth it to BE A BIT MORE DESCRIPTIVE WITH YOUR SIGNAGE! or consistent with they type of ink your using smh
Great service, excellent pies, great appetizers but my entree wasn't cooked all the way. I was there with family for the loss of a loved one. So I didn't want to complain since if I ate it I probably would have made me sick.
Servers were rude and dismissive. Long wait time when very little people are in the building. Waited over 30 minutes before I was able to order.
