My favorite place! Love the Afternoon Tea, pick 3, love how it is served and the staff is incredible with recommendations and knowledge of their teas. Loving setting in all their locations, so good, such a wonderful dining experience.
They have a special vegan menu which you have to ask for (it would be great if it said on the menu "ask for our vegan menu" or if the server offered it when ordering... If it was posted somewhere I didn't see it) and the vegan menu is great! Otherwise just the chili is marked vegan on the regular menu. But the vegan garden sandwich was delicious and the vegan scone was also really good-- it's gluten free too.
If you are looking for a delicious lunch or . . . look no further. The Whistling Kettle has the perfect ambiance . . . delicious teas and such a wide assortment of sweet and savory food options. Their scones are amazing. They do have some gluten free possibilities on their menu. I was happy to enjoy a GF blueberry scone. I can't wait to go back. And did I mention that the waitstaff was super helpful and friendly. You can find just what you want at The Whistling Kettle.
Great place for tea and food. We tried soups, quiche, Greek salad and savory crepe. Plenty for two adults. Everything was delishes and fresh. We also bought lots of sample teas to try at home and buy more the next time we are in the area.
One of my favorite places to go locally. Even ordering out is lovely. I'm so happy to have a place that offers so many gluten free options. <3 The Crepes are to die for! <3
Delicious soups, sandwiches, and salads. Loved the lobster bisque and the mimosa flight where you can pick your own flavors! This place has an abundance of nice options and varieties including for vegan diners. The butterscotch tea was also fabulous. A lovely and warm, inviting environment with excellent and attentive service
I absolutely LOVE & adore this place! I go for lunch a few times a year and it truly never disappoints. Excellent service & delicious tea! The towers are my favorite to order because you can get 3 items of your choosing. Highly recommend 👌
I had such a wonderful experience at The Whistling Kettle in Ballston Spa! I ordered the mimosa flight and the tea tower, and both were absolutely delicious. Our server, Davianna, was so sweet and gave excellent recommendations that made the visit even better. She was attentive, kind, and really made us feel welcome. Between the cozy atmosphere, tasty food, and outstanding service, I can’t wait to come back!
I have been here before for high tea brunch with a girlfriend and it was fantastic - but today I came alone to try one of their specialty sandwiches. The waiter was nice, attentive, though very busy - so thank you! I had a toasted turkey, cranberry, and brie - sooooooooo good. Came with chips. They have a nice variety of teas and giftware. Very unique place, I loved it.
Very busy place. Delightful. Took my daughter, grand daughter and husband. Great food choices,so many things to choose from. They also sell loose leaf tea , samples or larger sizes. Food was delicious. We shared crepes for dessert. They also had savory crepes which I will get next time. Having gone to Ballston Spa for lunch I would love to go back. The Whistling Kettle is great and if it was not raining it looks like a nice area to explore.
My favorite tea, after trying so many. They have a wide selection and everything is great. I've tried about 30 of them and my top 3 are earl grey cream (for every day), cherry fig, and snowflake Update - after buying tea for years, three of us finally came for lunch. The buffalo chicken sandwich was delicious, the vegan almond blueberry with lemon scone was fantastic. People also enjoyed their lobster bisque and roasted red pepper soup, and some savory crepes. We each had a tea. It was a very nice lunch.
What a great place for lunch! Me and my wife were in Ballston Spa and wanted to try out this cool location. The atmosphere was a very cozy with a hint of hipster vibes. The waiter was absolutely fantastic and gave us knowledge on the process of tea. The meal itself was excellent. Love the idea of the different tiers of food. The lobster bisque was on point and the sandwich hit the spot. On the way out the have a very small gift shop kind of set up, and picked up teas for home and gifts for friends. My only complaint is the honey that is given to sweeten the tea. They gave Kraft brand honey packets. That honey is very low quality for the tea they give. If Into teas or just great sandwich style of meals, definitely check out “The Whistling Kettle” in Ballston Spa.
Came here with my husband for lunch while visiting the area. Enjoyed the afternoon tea special. I liked that the menu gave full portions and a nice variety of items. Loved how they presented everything on the tiered plates. I tried the turkey brie crepe, house salad, and berry scone. Everything tasted delicious. The server was nice and helpful. Overall would definitely come back again!
Really nice setting with old brick walls...cozy booths...very warm and inviting. Amazing variety of teas ( and coffees) including draft ice tea, hot tea, tea lattes, tea specials and custom brews. Soups were delicious as were the savory crepes. Salads crisp and tasty. Good place to visit with friends. Also enormous selection of teas and tea accaccessories for sale...many options!
I cannot say enough good things about this place! The staff was super friendly, especially our server, Leslie. We had a wine slushy followed by two wine flights, yes two, for the two of us. Be warned that you get more than one cup per pot! Definitely try the ginger blueberry if you like ginger, that was my favorite! The scone I ordered was scrumptious as well, served with cream and preserves.
Took me 8 years to come back here. Long ago in a distant past, well before things like COVID were even a twinkle in a certain asian nations eye, I actually was applying to work here. However I quickly decided no matter the outcome of the interview, I would walk, because I could not believe the sheer volume of flies they were dealing with. It was quite gross. That was then and this is now however and things appear to have changed for the better, not a fly in sight, which made me feel all that better about picking up my online order. Speaking of which, there is no phone in option for pickup, which I found a bit disparaging as I tend to not trust various online ordering systems with my credit card info. Be that as it may, I did order online, and picked out the BLT Sconewich with comes with Chips, and the Chicken, Bacon, & Roasted Red Pepper Crepe which I upgraded to have a side of the Lobster Bisque with. Altogether coming to around $35. Back home I opened everything up and was firstly disappointed to see the Sconewich had melted like the Wicked Witch of the West, making it an absolute mess to eat. Also disappointed to see the chips were not homemade, just a bag of sea salt chips you might find at a Subway. At least the BLT had good flavor, the ingredients were good, but it was not structurally sound one bit. The crepe on the other hand held fast, and had a very interesting texture to it inside, almost like a ricotta that had begun to solidify. Big ol' chunks of chicken as well, which sadly the Bisque was severely lacking in. Not a lump of lobster to be found, just shreds so tiny they might pass through a coffee filter. Also a tad too salty, could do with a pinch less salt to the mix. Overall, not recommending the take out if you have to travel 30 minutes home. Those takeout boxes will steam the heck out of your orders with how well they seal, so all the crispy will become mushy. So dine-in only, since their tiered tower presentation seems to be one of their other selling points.
I selected The Whistling Kettle for dinner on my actual birthday because I thought my sister, visiting from out of town, would get a kick out of the 3 tiered presentation of "afternoon tea". While most of our food was good, the extremely poor service was surprising. We'd been eating out all week and never encountered such a dismissive attitude towards the patrons. When the food arrived, my sister noticed that they forgot the dressing for her salad. We could not get the attention of our server so eventually she stopped the young man clearing tables and he got her some. Later in the meal, she had finished her water and mine was getting low. We had to work very hard to get the attention of our server, who was standing near the back chatting with 2 other staff. I tried waving, standing up, etc. to no avail. She then held up her glass continuously and eventually was noticed and we got the water. The limited service was at best perfunctory and we were certainly not treated as welcomed guests. Very disappointing. And while, as a senior citizen, I've had plenty of birthdays, it was interesting to me that even though my sister brought a gift and cards to give me before the meal, the waiter (Robert) didn't even bother to say a thing, like just "oh, celebrating a special event? enjoy". I don't care that he didn't say anything but I think it reflects the attitude projected. Take our order, put the food on the table, come back with a bill, and get out.
Visited on Mother’s Day 5/11. Mother , Two daughters and three grandchildren. Was served wrong drinks , service was spotty at best , food was delicious . Received the bill approx $190 split between two of us . Gave $159 cash and the balance on a card ($31) with a $40 cash tip. Enjoying the day we did not inspect the bill as we should have . After the fact realized we were charged $71 on the card with the partial cash payment , should have only been $31 . Called to rectify and was told staff pockets cash payment until end of their shift when they cash out . BEWARE!!! No checks and balances to account for cash payments. Essentially the waiter ended with a $80 tip for sub par service. The Whistling Kettle refused to correct the situation.
