Such a wonderful Resturant we had dinner here 2 times on our visit to Baltimore. So many good dishes to choose from. House salad is amazing and the pesto pasta with shrimp was very good. Can’t go wrong with any dish. Enjoy.
Looking for places in Baltimore's Little Italy this restaurant kept coming up. A short walk from the inner harbor, this little Italian restaurant did not disappoint. Decor rustic and modern at the same time. Service was prompt and friendly, and the restaurant staff had a family-like feel with each other. I had the sausage and peppers appetizer which was a very good portion and could almost have been an entree. Next I had chicken lemon marsala, and because, Baltimore, with lump crab meat and mozzarella melted on top. Pasta side was perfectly al dente. The best part? All of that, with a glass of red wine and dessert was $69. One of the better meals I had during my Baltimore trip and certainly at the best price. There are 4-5 choices to dine in little Italy within a block or so, but definitely consider this gem.
To write this without crying feels impossible. My dad loved Chiapparelli’s. He passed last year, and with him I lost my best friend. Today, I celebrated my 37th birthday here, and somehow I felt five years old all over again eating fresh bread and salad, and trying so hard to pick up a Sicilian accent. Ms. Helen was one of my earliest memories of seeing a woman be bold and beautiful .. a red lip, unforgettable perfume, and so much presence. Today, I got to hug her as an adult and tell her just how much her love and kindness meant to me as a child. To the entire Chiapparelli team the staff and the family thank you. Thank you for creating a legacy so beautiful that a 37-year-old version of me could walk through the door and feel five again. Tonight healed a part of my heart that has ached since my dad passed. I can’t wait to return with my children and give them the same memories you’ve given me. Thank you. 🤍
Excellent Italian restaurant. We brought a large party, but they only provided one waitress. She did a good job and the food was very good.
Had a great experience!! First of all, the side salad is the best I’ve ever had, hands down 🥗. It was perfect. Texture, taste, ingredients, dressing… perfect. I got the “Tour of Chiapparelli’s” with the Eggplant Parmesan, Fettuccine, and Meat Lasagna. All were very good, but the Fettuccine ranks among my favorites 🍝. My next visit I’ll probably just get the Fettuccine entree but it was fun to try the variety. I also tried the Gnocchi Bolognese that someone in my party ordered, and it was decent. The sauce was spectacular but the gnocchi was a little too tough for me. The other entree ordered, I believe it was the Chicken Louie, was great! The chicken was a little dry, but all of the other aspects of the meal (spinach, artichokes, peppers) were perfect. The bread was good by itself 🥖. I wish there was a dipping sauce but we made our own with the oil and Parmesan, which elevated the bread to delicious. Our server was good, not as attentive as we would have liked, but friendly and helpful 👨🍳. Also, the restaurant was beautifully designed for the holidays and very clean 🎄. So, overall: Bread - 8.1 Salad - 9.7 Tour of Chiapparelli’s - 8.5 Gnocchi Bolognese - 8.2 Chicken Louie - 8.4 Service - 8 Environment - 9 Total - 8.5/10 ⭐️
Service was great, food was food, and the place was very clean. Best wedding soup I've ever had!!!
Read about this place having been around for something like 80+ years and had to try it out. They did not disappoint. Great beer selection at reasonable prices. Definitely try the fried mozzarella! These aren't the usual frozen cheese sticks you're used to. Handmade goodness! Excellent pasta and tasty marinara sauce. Go early if you don't want to make a reservation. Otherwise, you'll need to make one. The place fills up.
Their house salad was amazing! The penne alla vodka was the best I’ve had.
We stopped in Chiapparelli’s, a long time staple in Baltimore’s Little Italy. We were not disappointed all of the dishes were solid such as the fried mozzarella, Alfredo,Garlic Bread, and Pasta dishes. The Chip Salad also was a great accompaniment. Finally, the service and atmosphere were great and the cost was reasonable. If you are in the area I recommend giving Chiapparelli’s a stop.
We were absolutely delighted with this gem of a restaurant in Little Italy. The restaurant was welcoming and cozy. We enjoyed our drinks, salads, and appetizers. Our child found something on the kids menu. We devoured our entrees and dessert. Will gladly return soon.
I have never been in the restaurant, but they are on Uber Eats. The food is always so fresh and most importantly to me it's HOT in temp. This particular time was my first time trying the sausage and peppers....Amazing! The house salad is great and normally I only like French dressing. The fresh bread is super tasty and this time I was sent 2 loaves....yum! I was so impressed with the quality I had to speak to the manager. Chris job well done, kudos to you and I will be ordering again soon. This is definitely a hidden gem!
Favorite restaurant in Baltimore! Always eat here when I'm in town. Must visit in Little Italy.
We moved out of state and hadn't been able to eat here in 30 years. It was still as good as it was 30 years ago. The food was outstanding. The service was excellent.
Great atmosphere, food and service! No hesitation dining here again. Please excuse the “after photo”. It should speak for itself
Relaxing environment with exposed brick walls and Frank Sinatra crooning in the background. Delicious food, abundant portions, wonderful waitress; found nearby parking quickly.
Every time I’m in Baltimore I make the special trip for chips salad! It’s perfection every time! And the fresh bread!!!!
First time visiting! Loved it! I had cheese and spinach ravioli with sauce. It was delicious, it was filling and quite tasty. The atmosphere was soothing and comfortable. Lots a people, but not noisy. The servers were personable and attentive.
Our favorite Italian Restaurant in Baltimore. The bread is soft and fresh. The Chip's salad was delicious as usual. Our dinners were fantastic. The service excellent and attentive.
Went here last minute with some friends. I normally and not super excited about Italian food, but I definitely would come back here. The salad was probably the best house salad I’ve ever had. Perfectly tossed. My pasta was also delicious, and after all the bread and salad I could only eat half. A great spot in Little Italy.
One word: Fantastic! Went on a Tuesday evening and it was packed, that’s how you know it’s a great place to eat. The service was great, each food course came out perfectly timed in between. Authentic Italian food and I am already recommending Chiapparelli’s to friends. Our server kept apologizing as she stated she is the only one working the room but honestly you couldn’t tell as we were there to enjoy ourselves that evening. Will try again when in the area.
Hands down my favorite restaurant. Food is Amazing, wait staff is like family. Can't wait to go again. You have to try the chips salad!
Handled our rehearsal dinner. It went so well, the food was great, servers were prompt and got everyone's orders right. The upstairs area is very pretty and was perfect for our group of 25 but could hold 10-15 more comfortably.
Just had my wedding there on Saturday Nov 29th. Would recommended 100%. This restaurant has been a staple for my wife’s family for decades. Great food and great atmosphere. Ask for Helen as your server.
SO DELICIOUS! The house salad you ask for and the bread before you even eat fills you up. Me and my husband go specifically for the salad 😃 every meal I have had there has been amazing. Good vibes.
I treated my spouse to lunch and his first time eating there we arrived right at opening, as usual Chiapparelli's food, especially their salad did not disappoint, I had told many tells of their spectacular salad and bread and since we were in Baltimore I pounced on the chance to prove to him I wasn't full of it 😁- hubby loved it as well as the subs we had. I was full after eating the salad and had to get a doggy bag for us. The food is authentic Italian and it is worth every penny spent. The waiter and waitress were very attentive. Can't beat the atmosphere as you feel as though you have entered an actual restaurant in Italy. The young man working the counter and responsible for seating you could possibly be a bit friendlier but everyone else helps even it out making it a nice dining experience overall.
I had the pleasure of treating myself to this restaurant for Valentine's Day, as a gift to myself. As someone who adores all genres of cuisine from all over the world as well as Little Italy Baltimore, this gem of an eatery did not disappoint. I savored every bite of my appetizer, the Italian wedding soup, my entree the Pescatore over linguine, and the belovedly famous Chip's salad. I capped everything off with the sumptuous Tiramisu. If you're a craft cocktail lover, then you're in luck. The Lemon Drop Martini and Manhattan are especially tasty. Their Lambrusco selection also delights the palate, heightening the flavor of the dishes. I can't wait to return soon!
I don't think you could go wrong with any restaurant in this area but this one does stand out a little more than the others. Fried calamari as an appetizer and a few other items which were really really good. Penny vodka chicken parm dishes are always solid and a good portion size as well. One member in my party had fettuccine Alfredo they thought the Alfredo sauce wasn't exactly up to par but I wouldn't hold that against them at all. I personally have the bait lasagna and that was an excellent lasagna. It was very well balanced between the cheese and the meat and I ordered it would pull it in sauce you can get it with plain sauce either way. Overall a very good food experience and I don't think you could go wrong with any of the venue options including the chicken marsala and I usually get the chicken Louie as well and I'm very satisfied.
Came in early on a Saturday evening. It was busy but not overcrowded. However, that changed by the time we left. Started off with the negroni with prosecco instead of gin (don't remember the name!). If you give the drink a try, it was better when it sat for a while and then stir it to allow the flavors to blend. I should also mention that they give you bread for the table, but we didn't eat it so I couldn't tell you if it was good. We got the antipasto for an appetizer and that was delicious. Came with mozzarella, meats, along with marinated olives, peppers, and cauliflower. I would recommend getting that if you want an appetizer. Of course, we got the chiapparelli's salad because you MUST get it when you visit!! It's so good! It's worth the $4 upcharge. For entrees, we selected the pesto pasta with whole wheat pasta; one with shrimp and one with chicken. Flavor was great and the pasta was cooked perfectly! We never got to try any of the desserts because honestly the service was not ideal. We didn't see our server regularly so after sitting for about 20 minutes without seeing her we were not interested in waiting longer for dessert. Also, my entree order came out wrong and she had to take it back so we couldn't eat our entrees at the same time. When the food came out she brought it to me and asked if it was wrong which I thought was odd - she knew my order and it should have been obvious? She also seemed unfamiliar with some aspects of the menu. We asked if she was new and she indicated she was "fairly new" so that may have been part of the problem. We're trying to be understanding about new staff who are learning the ropes but it's helpful if they communicate better to patrons. We also think she had tables in other parts of the restaurant but we don't know that for sure. Would have been helpful if she communicated more with us regarding what was going on as it was sort of left up to our own assumptions. I would still return for the food. Maybe next time we'll get better service.
Was seated in the far back corner near the side entrance, at the edge of the bar so didn't get to see the gleaming lights of the main dining room until the end. Tried the arancini and Tour of Chiapparelli. The lasagna was a bit salty for my taste but overall, it was good.. Friendly service. Large portion , and boy they really kept the bread basket coming if you let them. 😊
We traveled over a hour for dinner at Chiapparelli's Restaurant to celebrate 2 birthdays. The restaurant was very very bright. Personally, I like mood lighting for dinner. We started with fried mozzarella and calamari. The fried mozzarella was not melted in the middle. The calamari was fried to perfection. For entrees, we had veal Piccata, Veal Saltimbucca, and seafood ravioli. All of the entrees were delicious. The service was not very good. Our server was actually the hostess who was picking up tables because they were under staffed. She was very friendly and as helpful as she could be. However, she was the hostess. Example... The house salad has a garlic based dressing, which I was not informed about, when I asked server about garlic in menu items. It was so over powering, I was able to smell the garlic before I tried the salad. I'm allergic to garlic. This could have turned out to be a bad night for me.
After a 6 hr drive dreaming of authentic Italian, we were delighted. Chicken parm, chicken piccata, salad, and mozzarella squares A ++. Cold table bread without EVOO, parm, and rosemarry, not so much. Also a B- on the tiramisu which lacked flavor. Service and atmosphere, A +.
Best salad I've had!!! Food: overall very good. I got the tour meal with chicken parm. The quality and taste of the food itself was wonderful. Chicken parm was extremely thin and pretty small. Wife had the salmon; she's still talking about how great it was Service: sat in the side bar area. Server, who was also the bartender was friendly, but not as attentive as we would have liked. Between covering the bar and a few tables, she was definitely overwhelmed a little. Atmosphere: everything you'd hope for in little Italy!! Overall a good experience and would recommend giving them a try. I'll definitely be back for some salad!
We stopped at Chiapparelli’s while in Baltimore for the day. This was our second visit, and we had another great experience. The salads were solid, and the bread was pretty standard for an Italian restaurant. For the main course, both my wife and I got the Tour of Chiapparelli—one of my favorite Italian dishes. Overall this place is a must. The only thing keeping it from five stars was our server who was pretty inattentive. He took a while to take our order, bring our food, and give us the check. Then as we were counting out money to leave on the table he came up and asked to take it. Still it’s worth it and we’ll be back next time we’re in Baltimore.
The food was ok, the service could have been better. Good bread when hot! The atmosphere was really good in and around the restaurant.
A Little Italy staple of Baltimore that has been around for decades, has a wonderful vibe and inside atmosphere making you feel right at home. However, outside of the very good appetizers the main courses lacked inspiration and that “level above” you would think an establishment like this would have. Bread service had cold non-Italian loaves, with butter? Both the Pesto and Vodka Pennes while good, I could have easily made at home and saved $60. Which is sad because you would expect the chefs here to raise the bar some on even basic dishes. Overall it was a nice evening but didn’t live up to my expectations after all these years.
The food was delicious and the wine selection was abundant. The restaurant is located in a brick exposed building in Little Italy with an old world feel. It could have been a five star experience but our waiter rarely checked in so we weren’t able to get wine throughout dinner.
We had Valentine's Day dinner at Chiapparellis which was our first time. The decor was rustic and warm. The table seating arrangement was a pleasant surprise due to the space between other tables. You don't see that often enough. Most restaurants cram you in and rush you off. The food was typical Italian fare. The star of the meal was the marinara sauce. Couldn't get enough. The service was ok. Our servant was very friendly but she was a little overwhelmed with other tables. My biggest issue was the stagging of food in the walkway near the restrooms. As we left, we stopped by the restrooms. As we walked to the restroom doors, we couldn't help but notice two trays full of food waiting to be sent to the tables. This wasn't a mistake. Multiple plates of food were placed there waiting on servers to deliver. This obviously needs to be corrected. Overall, it was a pleasant evening but not sure if we will return.
Food was decent, I liked my gnocchi enough. The salad was no different than a bag salad of iceberg lettuce from the grocery store except for the 1/2 cup of shake Kraft parmesan cheese. The service was atrocious. It took us 30 minutes to pay our bill. Just sitting there watching table after table to leave. This was just to get the bill not even the time to pay! In any case, it was alright.
Ordered a cheese pizza $13.00 and a basic side salad to go. Was told salad came with a house dressing, no problem, love that type of dressing. Decided to save salad for dinner. When I got home, realized the dressing leaked and got on my bag in front seat. Got salad in house, and realized it was soaked in dressing. It had a few pieces of tomatoes, and red onion. I drained it in my noodle strainer to get most dressing off hoping to salvage it. Even after I drained the dressing, it was still sitting on top of a layer of dressing. The lettuce was horrible and I only could eat some tomatoes. I would have thought that if they knew it was to go, that they would have put dressing on side instead of soaking it. The bread was a highlight of the salad. I was thinking while waiting for my food to come back for date night….no thanks! With prices being so high everywhere, I’ll save my date night for a place that is gonna be worth it.
I wish I could say I was excited about the food. The salad with their special sauce was okay, just a lot of Parmesan and oil. Bolognese pasta was presentable but average in taste. Service was slow and hostess didn't seem too invested in her job for greeting guests not seating them. I like the neighborhood and the set up of the restaurant with the paintings on the wall.
The food was delicious. We started off with fried mozzarella, then the salads and finally I had the chicken vencello and my wife had the egg plant parm. No problems at all with any of the food. The issue was the service and the atmosphere. Unfortunately there was a party of 11 having a kids birthday party with a bunch of loud kids and I understand that's not the restaurants fault but it still messed with the atmosphere. I don't remember the waitress name but she was elderly. I'll start by saying she was the waitress for the 11 person kids birthday party so I get that she was busy but in our hour and a half time there we saw her 5 times to drop drinks/food off but not once did check on our table. There was no asking about how the food was or to refresh our drinks. All and all not a great experience for my first visit.
Our table was unfortunately within sight and earshot of the (open door ) dish washing room. Listening to pots and bowls being hosed down, not pleasant. The service and food was so disappointing that when we left we went to eat at a different restaurant a block away.
We arrived on a Sunday for lunch to any empty restaurant. My step mom and her brother have been coming here for years and swear by it. We arrived and we were discussing how their menu works, which we knew pizza was only served at lunch, not dinner. We were shocked to find out that Sundays have a dinner menu only and no pizza is made on Sundays. I checked their website to see if any of that was listed, which it's not. It was also no where on the menu or signage. The salad that comes with each entree was entirely iceberg lettuce, which would've been a bit better had it had some more hearty lettuce varieties. The dressing on it was amazing. I was not amazed with the fried mozzarella as it had a weird after taste, same for the cheese ravioli. But the penne alla vodka was delicious. Overall, decent experience but for how many italian restaurants are in Baltimore now, they may want to change some stuff up.
It’s fine. Service… needs tuning for sure. I dare to see what it’s like during a rush. The food… meh. The tiramisu could use more lady fingers and less cream. The cheesecake… if that’s homemade I need to know when it was made. Consistency is not a word used here. Serving a side of spaghetti with red sauce and a main that has a lemon and wine sauce… WILD. If you’re just looking to eat some food I would still recommend you go elsewhere.
I arrived at chiapparelli's to pick up my food order and waited about 5–7 minutes alongside another customer. When the employee came out to assist us, he first took the other customer’s order and then handed me my pickup order. I didn’t catch his name, but he was a tall white man wearing blue pants and a dark blue and orange athletic shirt. When he approached me, his demeanor seemed annoyed. I initially assumed it was due to being busy, which I understand, as I have experience working in customer service and food service myself. I wasn’t upset about the wait. I thanked him with a smile and wished him a good day, but he cut me off mid-sentence and responded curtly with, “Yeah, you too,” maintaining the same annoyed expression and turning around. What was upsetting was that immediately afterward, he turned to the other customer who had been waiting with me, apologized to him for the wait, and engaged in a friendly conversation with a smile. I don’t want to assume microaggression, but I was disappointed by the difference in treatment, especially given the consistently positive reviews this location receives. Everyone else were great and welcoming.
While I was celebrating my birthday, waitress came in asking where I was from (I am a foreigner). I said that I was working in Baltimore. She then asked how long I was going to stay. This was very awkward. Then she came again and asked how long I was going to stay here. I asked what she meant, if she meant staying in the restaurant, she said no, I could stay in the restaurant. Again very awkward and unpleasant conversation. If you have an accent be aware before you visit.
Accidentally ordered the lunch portion of the penne vodka without chicken. Called the restaurant and explained and they charged me an extra nine dollars for the chicken at which point I could’ve just purchased a whole order of pasta. When the pasta with chicken is actually only three dollars more than what I already paid. The man at the counter was pretty rude about it when I asked. If you’re in little Italy, I would recommend going to Amiccis instead. They have always been kind, delicious food and more importantly exceptional service from a Baltimore institution.
I have to give it one star because the service was that horrible. The food was fantastic, but the service was absolutely awful. The bartender had no clue what they were doing—drinks were snail-slow coming out. Then, to top it off, I asked for a cannoli for dessert and they brought it to go when I clearly wanted it at the table. I was told they needed to turn the table, which is completely unacceptable. This place is not the same as it used to be. Very disappointing experience.
The service here has really declined. The bartender seemed overwhelmed and treated us poorly. We weren’t shown the same courtesy as other patrons—he even interrupted me while I was asking about the menu. I noticed that drinks for a Caucasian customer were prepared correctly, while ours were rushed and carelessly made. Overall, we felt disrespected and unwelcome.
The salad was good, but the pizza was terrible for an Italian restaurant—very dry. The gentleman at the host stand saw me fall, apparently due to food on the floor. I slipped and fell, and although he witnessed it, he did not come over to help or apologize. The incident was completely ignored. Terrible customer service.
