The quality of the food is excellent! We ordered 4 different plates. The mushroom soup, moussaka, grape leaves, salmon & lamb chops and everyone of them were so very delicious. If we weren't so full, we could have stayed longer & eaten more. The beer & wine were great as well. The server was a delight! It was an anniversary celebration for us and we were so blessed & happy to choose this restaurant. It was a beautiful evening to dine outside! We will be back for sure because Maria is an excellent chef!
The food was all-around great (we especially loved the grape leaves), but this place deserves major extra points for accommodating those with celiacs. My (recently diagnosed) husband and I celebrated our anniversary dinner last night, and we were delightfully amazed by how much of the menu is gluten-free. Even more, while nothing beats traditional pita bread, the mere fact that Cypriana offers gluten-free pita bread (which was still tasty) meant a lot to us. We will definitely be coming back here again – especially when neither of us needs to be the designated driver, as the cocktail menu sounded fantastic.
Cypriana in Baltimore is a delightful escape into the flavors of the Mediterranean, offering an enchanting dining experience right from the start. The restaurant's atmosphere is both elegant and welcoming, perfect for indulging in an array of beautifully crafted small plates. Each dish is a testament to the chef’s attention to detail and commitment to freshness, with standout selections such as the tender octopus and flavorful hummus igniting our taste buds. The highlight of our evening was undoubtedly the lamb chops special. These chops were impeccably seasoned and grilled to a perfect medium-rare, paired with aromatic herbs and a rich, velvety sauce that enhanced the lamb's natural flavors without overwhelming them. This dish alone is worth a visit! Adding to the charm of Cypriana is the warm and attentive proprietor who ensures every guest feels like family. His insistence to try the dessert—a divine baklava that was flaky, sweet, and perfectly balanced—was a delightful end to our culinary journey. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Baltimore, Cypriana offers a genuine taste of Mediterranean hospitality that shouldn’t be missed. The thoughtful dishes, inviting atmosphere, and personal touch from the owner make this restaurant a standout gem.
Alright, Cypriana, you absolutely earned this review. My group of four for dinner tonight included two dual-citizen Italians and they are picky about food. We made a reservation for 5:45, but accidentally showed up half an hour early. The hostess made us feel welcome and showed us right to a table. We were looking for a venue for an upcoming party, and Chef Maria gave us a tour of the private room. She was personable and kind--and she made the best recommendations for dinner. The food was out of this world--I wish we would have counted how many times someone said, "Mmm," or "You have to try this," or "This is SO good," Everything was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, perfectly sauced. The food came out fast, but we were not rushed through dinner service at all, staying almost three hours and enjoying our meal and conversations. Our server, Anne, was gracious with her service. It seemed like she timed her check-ins perfectly with lulls in our conversations. Her service was both kind and professional; she noticed a bend in a fork and insisted on replacing it. We felt welcomed by the maître d'--he saw us out as he left and gave my friend a big hug like they were back in the Med. Cypriana, I see your exacting service, out of this world food, and family atmosphere. Thank you for caring about your craft and giving my group time to connect over a beautiful meal.
**Five-Star Google Review for Cypriana of Roland Park** I've been coming to Cypriana of Roland Park for years, and they consistently deliver excellent service and delicious food. The toasted sesame feta with honey is an exceptional starter that perfectly balances sweet and savory. The arugula and beet salad is a delightful mix of flavors, and the Cyprus meatballs are hands down some of the best I've ever had—juicy with warm Mediterranean spices. The spinach dip is a bubbly, cheesy delight, paired perfectly with fresh pita. And the baklava? Simply the best I've ever tasted! Craft drinks complement the meal. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive, making every visit a pleasant experience. Whether you're sharing small plates with friends or enjoying a full meal, Cypriana offers a fantastic dining experience. I highly recommend it to everyone!
very good greek/Mediterranean food. Must try the hummus and fresh bake pita bread.
Really loved the food, drinks, and atmosphere here. The staff treated us in such a kind and thoughtful manner and we just kept thinking that we were going to be back for more soon. In particular, Shawn, Sam, and Chef Maria went above an beyond to ensure our first time visiting was unforgettable and I regret that we haven't been here sooner! Visit as soon as you can, don't have photos be cause it was so good. No lie. Also pricing was not as much as we thought. It's very well priced.
Great restaurant in Baltimore. Stayed at The Inn at Colonnade and they recommended this along with others. Wonderful food and desserts. Great staff and owner. The coffee (two types that we tried) was a perfect ending with the baklava.
I visited Cypriana with my lady on Saturday night and the entire experience was spectacular!! The service was fast but not too quick. The waiters and waitresses were kind and pleasant. The owner walked through the dining room and greeted us as well as was attentive to any questions we may have had. The food (and we ordered many varieties, was Outstanding!) I can say that with confidence because I have visited 16 countries and ate at restaurants in all of them in my lifetime so far and Cypriana is without question one of The Best restaurants on the planet!! Right here in Baltimore, MD!
The atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant, our party arrived @5:40 and we ordered drinks that took 40 minutes to come. Soup and salad came an hour later. Our waitress took another 20 minutes to get our orders for the main meals which didn’t come until 70 minutes. We are African Americans and were not treated as other patrons in the restaurant. When we arrived, it was empty in the restaurant. Other patrons arrived and were waited on and left before some of our party received their orders. Horrible experience, so disappointed that in our society today, prejudice is still occurring.
I had the privilege of enjoying a first visit with my friend Amy who is a regular at this fine establishment. Amy chose a few options from the menu that were her favorites, including toasted sesame feta, beet salad, Cyprus meatballs, spinach dip, and last but not least - balaclava. I couldn’t begin to decide on my favorite selection during this visit. Each and every employee was was friendly and personable from the time we entered the building. This is my first of many visits to come and possibly my new favorite restaurant. Thank you Chef Maria Looking forward to our next great meal,
I love the food at Cypriana and always have a nice time here. But tonight I attended a group dinner with 15 others, and we were served a family-style tasting menu. It was truly exceptional. We had a series of salads, hummus, spanakopita, falafel, cheese puffs, pasta, a variety of meats and salmon, and a few wonderful desserts. It was such a pleasure to try so many new dishes and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend for business or large family dinners, especially if your guests have varied palettes and/or food allergies. Everyone was thrilled with the meal.
Everything was amazing from the beginning when the hostess greeted us to the moment we left. Great atmosphere, our wonderful server Sam was very friendly, knowledgeable, explained everything about the items we ordered and he was very attentive. The food was exquisite. The sesame-roasted feta, the grape leaves and the hummus with the hand made pita are a must have. And don’t skip on the desserts. The loukoumades, the konafe and the roses, rum and raspberries cake were superb. Chef Maria and the whole staff create magic and provide an experience you will remember for ever. Can’t wait to go back soon.
This was our first time and it was so great! We were with a party of 5 and the staff upon entry til we walked out were sooooo welcoming. Friendly, engaging and so knowledgeable of the menu. S/o Ana, Spencer and chef Maria! We were even blessed to meet the chef and her kids! We enjoyed the unlimited mezze and omg I wish it upon everyone who is looking for authentic Greek/Cyprus cuisine. They use home grown herbs and spices and you can tell. Okay let’s talk about what I loved the most; get the mousska, eggplant, sesame feta, and Santorini pepper and loukoudades for dessert. The grape leaves, portobello mushroom, and pistachio baklava were close runner up oh and the pita is a non negotiable. Eat it with everything. Can’t wait to go back!
We ordered from the Mezze Madness prix fixe menu. It was great…both for Vegan-gluten free and for carnivore. Excellent, friendly, and timely service. We have been so many times to Cypriana and will continue to enjoy their delicious food. The Grilled Eggplant Iman was superb. The hummus is truly special …. And gluten free pita!!!! Well done, Cypriana.
We had an excellent dinner last night! Our server Veronica was fantastic. She was so attentive and made great suggestions. Our food was great. We loved the vegetarian moussaka and the spinach feta pie. All the drinks and entrees were amazing too. We will certainly be back soon!
Started with the chefs hummus, a wonderful creamy hummus with eggplant paired with warm pita. Also had the arugula salad with feta and beets and for the entree chose the salmon which was moist with a slightly crispy topside. Extensive menu so there’s something here for everyone. Outside seating available too!
Truly enjoyed my experience at Cypriana starting with the host. Carolyn was very nice and very professional, the bartenders were really inviting and the drinks were very interesting, using flavors I've never had in drinks before. Lastly, the food was delicious, and the chef seemed to love her creations more of an artist than a cook.
Food is amazing, best pita and wood-fired lamb flatbread my family has ever tasted! Great service, I left my credit card and they kept it secure until retrieval. We went back several times during our trip because it was so good.
Came for restaurant week and they offered a list of unlimited appetizers for $45 . They were amazing and it was so much fun to try all the different stuff ! I also come frequently this is my 3rd year in a row choosing this as my family birthday dinner restaurant . Also great for vegan/vegetarians !
This place is a gem. It was a little hard to find (look for the blue awning) but once there, it's adorable with a great outdoor seating area. My friend and I split a few small plates, and the unanimous favorite was the roasted feta. I'm drooling thinking of it! Texture, tang, toasty sweetness. The falafel was good but the grape leaves were better! Great spices for both. My friend enjoyed the spanakopita and I had the moussaka which was just ok. We both liked our cocktails and the desserts were enjoyable, if not ideal. I had the lemon mousse with pasta and wish it were more lemony; my friend had the baklava and wished it was crisper (it was rolled rather than layered). A couple dishes and the atmosphere definitely get five stars, but there were some missteps. Oh, and the manager is fabulous...he has some great stories!
We had dinner at Cypriana for Mother’s Day 2025. The restaurant is very popular and there were even more diners than usual . Despite the pressure of waiting on several tables, our server Anna was unfailingly kind and attentive. The food was excellent, as always. We love the ambiance and the fact that the restaurant is family-owned and operated.
Everything was excellent. We didn't even know it was resteraunt week. We got to have a little of everything. From salads to desserts, everything was perfect. Thanks for being so authentic, and personable. Rob Hirsch
Celebrate my Birthday, had the best time, Chef Maria is the best she stop by our table and said hy. The food was delicious everything we ordered was Soo delicious if you are in the area please come try it!! Service was great!!
We went to their annual champagne dinner. Each of 5 courses paired with a different champagne (well OK, some weren't champagnes but made with methode champenoise). Started with mushroom soup, then hummus, blanking on 3rd course, then salmon course and finally dessert. Very tasty and the champagnes went well with each course.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Service is outstanding, and every single item we ordered on the menu was delicious. Server made us feel like family. Drink options were excellent. I know I'm gushing here but it's for great reasons. This kind of place is one you feel lucky to have near you so you always have a safe spot to impress guests.
Cypriana is an AMAZING restaurant! The food and service was spectacular. We did not have a reservation and came in on Christmas Eve and they sat us down right away. ( we were there early). We had a wonderful experience! Angelica was our server and made us feel soooo special. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!
Great dinner and vibes. Carolyn was our server and she’s amazing. 10/10 evening
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly staff who clearly care about quality and hospitality. I especially loved the moussaka – layered to perfection and full of flavor.
Cypriana in Baltimore is a must-visit family-owned gem offering an unforgettable Mediterranean dining experience. From the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere makes you feel like part of the family. The menu features vibrant, authentic dishes all crafted with care and high-quality ingredients. The attentive staff and excellent food add to the experience, making it perfect for any occasion. Whether it’s a special celebration or a casual meal, Cypriana delivers exceptional food, service, and hospitality. Highly recommended!
My wife and I went here last evening with another couple who had been here before. The owner came to our table to greet us. He knew that this was our first visit and that my wife's cousin and her husband had been there before. This is a Greek restaurant, but, as it's name implies, it features food from the Greek side of the island of Cyprus. We had two appetizers for the table. The hummus with a soft pita that had air between its two layers was delicious as was the Keotedes, meatballs on a skewer. My wife's cousin and her husband shared a whole fish that they fileted themselves. They both enjoyed it. My wife and I shared a grilled salmon which tasted very good. The portion size was generous for one person but sparse for two. The price was scaled for one person so that was reasonable. We had excellent service. The server was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. He came to the table often enough to serve our needs but not so often to be obtrusive. This place has excellent quality food at reasonable prices. Parking is across the street. That's fine in nice weather but inconvenient in the rain. I highly recommend this place when the weather is good. We came back to Cypriana for dinner. I had the salmon again. This time I didn't share it with my wife. She had her own entrée. I noticed on the menu that they say that they serve the best grilled salmon around. It's pretty courageous for a restaurant to print something like that right on the menu. I order salmon often when I eat out so I do have a basis for comparison. In my opinion, this place might actually be correct about having the best salmon. I also had the tomato bisque, also delicious. The prices are reasonable, and the service is excellent. I recommend this place.
EXCELLENT all the way around. The best!!! First patron there as the doors opened. Meet with great staff and my server “Drew”. Manager exceeded all expectations. Walked me to my car and showed soooo much respect and gratitude that I was there. Thjs is indeed a Gem of Roland Park. Not to be missed!! I dine at most restaurants in the area, Cypriana is #1 in my book. Chef gets a 10!! Yes, I loved thjs place right down to the convenience of parking provided by the restaurant. Be careful with the drink, bartenders is top notch. I’m taking Uber next time so I can finish my excellent drink. Pork Belly, octopus, and baklava was heavenly.
During a visit near Loyola of Maryland, Cypriana was a delightful surprise. The dolmas, soup, and shrimp were all exceptionally flavorful, with every dish tasting authentic and fresh. Although the portion sizes left me wanting more, the quality of the ingredients and the depth of the flavors were truly impressive. It's a place that elevates Mediterranean cuisine, leaving a lasting impression and a craving for a return visit.
Stayed at the Inn at The Colonnade Baltimore - a DoubleTree. 5-minute walk. Customer service was excellent. So many items to choose from on the menu. Ordered the grilled octopus, grape leaves and the salad sampler. Had to walk back because they forgot my Pita. The Pita was freshly baked, hot and delicious. Food was amazing and prices were about the same at the DoubleTree restaurant. After walking back and enjoying this amazing meal... Wished they would have suggested a dessert! It was hidden on the menu and I was too tired to walk back to order that evening. If you are staying at the DoubleTree...Eat here!!!
Went for a birthday dinner and our waitress was also celebrating hers! Carolyn was absolutely wonderful and so patient with us and answered all of our questions — on HER birthday! Didn’t try anything I didn’t like, and I will be dreaming of the sesame-honey feta
The customer service provided by the server Mary Kate was amazing! The hostesses were great as well. The food was delicious and the dessert wine was superb.
First time dining at Cypriana and I was very impressed. The service is friendly, the ambiance is nice and the food is quite amazing. My party shared the Salad Sampler and Classic Hummus with Wood-Baked Pita for an appetizer and I dont know if I could pick a favorite, they were all delicious. We all selected different entrées and all of us were very pleased. For dessert I tried the Pistachio Sea Salt Baklava and I can honestly say it was the best baklava I have ever had and maybe one of the best desserts I have ever had. If nothing else you should come in to try the baklava. I highly recommend Cypriana and I will certainly be back to try some other items on the menu.
Very delicious food! They make fantastic grilled pork belly! Their gyros, potatoes, and garlic sauce are really good too! I found their desserts a little too syrupy but if you have a sweet tooth, you’d probably like it. I’m giving them five stars because I’ve been impressed by the quality of their food and the flavor. I’d highly recommend and it’s worth the drive!
One of the best meals I’ve had in a while and we’re near nyc. Fresh and quality cuisine. Sit on the outdoor patio. So pretty and unexpected. Our waiter Eden was so kind and explained everything to us. Will be back for sure and a meal to remember!
Gorgeous Baltimore City night coupled with a stellar patio... or shall I say football field outdoor dining space! THIS meal was one for the Greek Goddess books at Cypriana. I haven’t had octopus (chtapódi) so perfectly cooked in a very long time. The Cypriana Martini 🍸 had me buzzed and smiling with its hard hitting Oola gin, dry vermouth and lavender bitters (cheers to heavy handed bartenders) The company was sweet and life is slowly getting back to normal(ish). Can’t wait to return for their moussaka + lamb and rice stuffed grape leaves. 🇬🇷
Love this place. We stumbled across it as we were looking for a restaurant close to Sherwood Gardens. You can’t tell by the outside but they have a beautiful large outdoor patio, with string lights and gardens. And to our surprise, it was dog friendly! (for well behaved dogs) The service was impeccable. Our server was fantastic. Our Mezzedes all came out within 7-8 minutes of us ordering with 2 minute check backs. The chef hit a bunch of the tables and when we were asking about a special she made and was excited about, she brought us a sample of it (and it was delicious!). It’s family owned and operated. The chef is the owner and her daughter also works there and touched our table. It was a wonderful experience. Outside of perfect timing and super friendly service, the food itself was spot-on. High quality, fresh ingredients; Banging olive oil, perfectly salt and spice levels without being over done. Pita’s are hand baked to order. my boyfriend hates cream and white sauces but uncharacteristically loved the bechemel and yogurt sauces…. And that’s saying something. Could not recommend more, will definitely be coming back here.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cypriana and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, welcoming smiles from the staff, setting the tone for an evening of top-notch hospitality. The service was impeccable attentive without being intrusive, and the staff's knowledge of the menu and wine pairings truly elevated the dining experience. 10/10 would recommend especially for date night!
Amazing food, best Greek food in Baltimore city, HANDS DOWN! The service is always personable and exceptional -want to specifically point out Anna for her lovely service. We have come here on many occasions and Cypriana’s never disappoints.
Absolutely amazing Greek restaurant! The food is fresh, authentic, and full of flavour—especially the chicken and tarragon sauce. What truly sets this place apart is the incredible family who runs it—they’re warm, welcoming, and treat you like one of their own. You can taste the love in every bite. A true hidden gem I can’t wait to return.
Second time here. Friday night dinner with great friends - coaxed them in from the county. Food was good, service was a bit slow compared to our first experience.
We ate outside on a lovely night, so I can't judge the atmosphere inside the restaurant but it looked fine. We took advantage of the restaurant week menu, which was unlimited appetizers for a set price. That gave us a good idea of what the restaurant has to offer and we really enjoyed it. The only thing to note is that when coming from University Parkway and making a left onto 39th, you pass the sign for the free parking AFTER the turn for the free parking lot. (Coming in the other direction, you would make a right after the free parking sign, which makes sense.) So we past the lot and had to go around and come back.
We came for restaurant week and it was delightful! There was the opportunity to sample pretty much everything with the unlimited mezzedes they were serving for restaurant week. We will definitely be back. Also if you need gluten free options. They have them available. They also even have gluten free pita bread!
Fantastic service & fantastic food. Our server, Carolyn, was super knowledgeable of the menu & and recommended some great dishes. Highly recommend!
Despite being busy, this place still always have such warm and friendly service. The food is authentic and delicious. Their cocktails are great too! Huge gluten free offerings!! Must visit!
Came for date night. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. It gets a bit loud and our table was really tight next to our neighbors, so minus one star only for that little quibble. I would come back 100 times.
Love Cypriana restaurant! Been going there for years - perfect spot to meet with friends for HH or dinner. Am a big fan of hanging out at the bar and enjoying lively conversation with others. This photo is with my friends and the owners’ lovely daughter. Thanks to Caroline for being a friendly server - just wonderful!
Went to this restaurant with a large group (14-20) on a Thursday night. 1. Loved that on a non busy night, they did not charge us to host a large group 2. The tasting menu was AMAZING! Loved the family style meal. We were able to get 3 courses. Our group decided to go all out at get the top tier tasting menu and it was worth every penny!! 3. The food was delicious and we all had a really great time. I HIGHLY recommend this place.
Came here during restaurant week and had a fantastic experience. My friend and I did the unlimited small plates with an excellent wine pairing. They had both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. We sat at the bar and bartenders Izzy and Ezra made our experience excellent! They were so friendly and attentive and gave great food and drink recommendations. We will definitely be back!
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant, and I have to give special praise to the bartender, Ezra. He made what was hands down the best espresso martini I’ve ever had, perfectly balanced and clearly made with care. From the moment I sat down, Ezra made me feel genuinely welcomed, which set the tone for the entire evening. The atmosphere was impeccable: warm, inviting, and effortlessly refined. Between the outstanding service and the overall ambiance, this is a place I’d happily return to and recommend to others.
Went for a celebratory dinner. Reservations are highly recommended. Attentive and friendly service, delicious dishes and relaxed atmosphere. Grilled Octopus was tender and amazing. Mussels Rockefeller was delicious and load with lump crab. Crab dip was unexpectedly flavorful. Highly recommend Roses, Rum and Raspberries for dessert.
Peter was a phenomenal server always letting us know about the menu and food was super fast. Loved the salad sampler to try a bit of all their styles. Grilled shrimp had a nice mint sauce, char was great, but slightly overcooked. Octopus was deliciously charred and a decent size though the thickness did make it slightly chewy. The toubalai with it was very fresh and flavorful and herby. Meatballs were the favorite. Immense flavor with incredible crisp outside and bouncy juicy moist inside. Absolutely best part of the meal. Stuffed grape leaves with mushrooms was very savory, though slightly lacking anything special, maybe just too much rice and slightly large for each individual piece. Would’ve appreciated more of smaller pieces. Wood Roasted olives were normal at best, really just warmed up olives. No char or wood flavor we tasted Fried Feta was awesome with the honey drizzle, make sure to eat it hot!! Gets a little chunky when it cools down and less spread like. Baklava was the star of the deserts. Not too sweet, perfectly crispy, insanely earthy in a good way. Incredible all around. The other puff pastry was a nice medium of creamy over sweetness. This one was my favorite, let cool slightly.
We loved every minute of our visit. Carolyn our waitress was very attentive. The dip sampler is a perfect way to get all the flavors of the restaurant. The lamb chops are the bet we have had in Baltimore. Th place was packed, and we understand why. So good!
I am going to give up one of the best kept secrets in Baltimore. Cypriana has the best food, friendly people and a great casual atmosphere. My favorites are the Baltimore Greek salad, hummus platter, baked feta with honey, and the pistachio baklava. If it’s just 2 of us we sit in the bar area and when we have a larger party we sit back in the restaurant area.
This place is fantastic and deserves incredible praise. To start, the atmosphere is cool, and relaxed. You don't feel oppressed or cramped. The music isn't too loud either, which other restaurants struggle with sometimes. The food was excellent. I had the pita sampler, which was a light and pleasant dish to start with. The main course was the steak, which was cooked perfectly, along with the delicious sides and garnish, along with the tzatziki, elevating the meal. Finally, the desert (my favorite!) was an appropriately sized portion of lovely baklava, a classic in Mediterranean cuisine. It was light, combined flavors incredibly, and seriously impressed me more than other places in the past have! To finish, the service was fantastic. Carolyn, I believe her name was, was fantastic. I hope she treats us again!! 11/10!!!
Carolin was a wonderful waitress. Everything we ordered was delicious. A bit pricey for the amount of food, the hummus was a small portion. Everything aside from that was spot on. The Greek salad was fresh and delicious. I ordered the mushrooms and they were delightful. We split the stuffed grape leaves and they were very good although there were only three in a serving which is small. We will be back!
Some of the finest, reasonably priced food I've had in Baltimore. Especially Cypriana's soups, octopus, salmon & sinful deserts. Highly special are its wait staff - friendly, relaxed, well informed about the menu & specials. A particular standout was Sarah, my waitress last Saturday. In addition to all the qualities I just listed, she has a fine sense of humor. That's rare in the waiting profession.
My friend and I had dinner here the other night and it was a wonderful experience. The tabbouleh was some of the best I’ve ever had, as was the chicken — perfectly cooked. Carolyn was our server, and she was a delight; so friendly and accommodating. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough!
I can only say that our recent visit to Cypriana was absolutely amazing. It is so difficult to find a restaurant that gives you such a total incredible experience for food service and atmosphere combined. Let me start by saying that the outside patio is such a charming place to eat. Not many places around that can offer that. The food was spectacular. Fried Feta with sesame was a delightful start and was key to the anticipation of the main course. My wife and I got Bronzino and octopus. The Bronzino was grilled to perfection with a bit of crispiness on the outside yet tender tasty and flakey inside. The octopus was plentiful with a smokey flavor and quite tender. I know how hard it is to get octopus right and this was perfect. My compliments to all and we will certainly be returning. Spero & Theano
Loved my dinner at Cypriana - Homewood! Spanakopita and Greek meatballs were so delicious. Amazing olives! Moussaka was the best I’ve ever eaten. The bartender and staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The pace of the meal was perfect, and our water glasses were never empty. Chef Maria is a joy. I highly recommend Cypriana for date night, dinner with friends or family—great environment and dining experience.
This place is AMAZING!!! I’ve taken hubs there twice for bday dinners (both exceptional experiences), the second time just last night. Chef Maria helped me arrange a surprise for him with some friends and everyone *loved* the food. One friend even became a convert to spinach due to the Spanakopita! Memory-making food, incredible service, great atmosphere. I can’t recommend this place highly enough! Go there!!
I had an amazing experience at Cypriana! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is top-notch; friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Everything I ordered tasted incredibly fresh, which really set the meal apart. My personal favorite was the sesame roasted feta, it’s a must-try! Perfectly balanced flavors with just the right amount of richness and crunch. I finished the meal with a lovely chocolate mousse, which was the perfect sweet ending. Cypriana is definitely a place I’ll be returning to again and again.
Cypriana was terrific. We had a birthday person with us and they made it special (see Picts), the food was great. Specifically the chef’s hummus was some of the best I’ve ever had! Seriously, I could’ve eaten that alone and been happy. The branzino with lemon was excellent and light. The chicken with lemon potatoes was perfect for my kid, the grilled octopus was nice and tender-had a slight Smokey taste and the portion size was enormous. The grilled eggplant was another lovely dish, although that reduced balsamic drizzle on top was so delish I could’ve used more! The had a gluten free pita which was excellent, and the wood roasted olives was a “to taste” item. I did not care for it but the rest of the table loved it. The service was great, drinks were generous. We had a very good time and will be back!
A great dining experience. If you are a fan of Mediterranean cuisine you should stop in. Super friendly and attentive staff and management. You will be well served if you are lucky enough to get Inty as your server. The food fantastic and reasonably priced. My wife and I each had a medium plate and a small plate to share. With drinks and including a tip we had a wonderful anniversary dinner for $125. Unfortunately, a couple of the items we saw on the online menu that we were looking forward to trying were unavailable. Get there early because they fill up fast.
We had a large party of 12 and elected to have the "tasting" menu #1. Overall the food was was good yet the quantity could have been increased as some of our party did not get to try everything served. The atmosphere was a little loud and we were in the back at a large table. The restaurant needs to find a way to eliminate the 3% credit card processing fee and find a new bank instead of put this on the customer, and the server should mention the options, cash, debit card or credit card when providing the bill. We asked to have our credit charge reversed so we could pay with cash and the restaurant refused to change it. Credit card users beware.
Cute spot and reasonably priced classic Greek favorites. Love the free parking. Plenty of options for vegetarians.
The place was fantastic and the staff was extremely friendly and personal. The staff new how to engage and when to check on your experience. It went from empty to full really quickly. The one issue was that the server forgot to put my entree in. It was still ready very quickly and was amazing. Be prepared to get 20% gratuity added automatically. I routinely tip more than that, but I was shocked that a 2 person table experienced that.
Inadvertently went during restaurant week, which happened to be all-you-can-eat mezze for $45 per person. It was great to be able to try a variety of the menu items. The pita with zataar seasoning and hummus were so delicious. Loved the stuffed grape leaves, sesame feta with honey, crispy cheese puffs. There were some bites that were dry, but we enjoyed almost everything. We tried a few of the dessert options and those were subpar. Seating was quite tight. Service initially started out very strong and we got our food almost instantly, however, we had difficulty getting water for our table and waited for 30 minutes before asking the hostess for our check. It may have just been due to a very busy restaurant week. Very helpful to have dedicated parking across the street.
Fine dining in the heart of Baltimore. Restaurant private parking across the street. Very safe neighborhood where this restaurant is situated. Nice food and and clean atmosphere. Very good gentry . Prices are okay. Some dishes haven’t lived up to their descriptions, like lamb shank . Overall I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Owner, she is a very humble and friendly lady and most of the dishes comes from her direct supervision.
Pretty decent food. I really loved the hummus and pita from the appetizer menu. The pita was fluffy and flavorful, and the hummus was quite creamy. It seemed pretty authentic to me, but I’m also not of Mediterranean descent. I got the grape leaves and some pasta dish I’m blanking on. Both were flavorful but I particularly liked the grape leaves. They came with a tangy white sauce that tied everything together. Portion sizes of the main dishes were pretty small compared to price. The falafel dish came with a measly 5 falafels! This is a high end restaurant, so if you’re visiting, you probably expect that. Service was great. Our waitress welcomed us warmly and was patient while we were confirming our order. The ambiance of the place is also great — makes you feel fancy. I’d highly recommend sampling more of the appetizers if you’re on a budget. Otherwise be prepared to splurge! 7
Food was not the highlight of the restaurant Fries with feta sounded good but fries had no flavor. The best part was their Greek salad and in large part because of the dressing. When asked about their signature dessert, everything on the dessert menu was their best. It was not. Will I go there again? I don't think so.
We have dined here many times over the last few years. This is not a fine dining restaurant. The main dining room consist of many tables close together with bare table tops. The last few times we have had very inexperienced servers. They have been very pleasant, but really, no experience in serving in what is trying to be an upscale restaurant. Instead of bringing out the courses in succession, appetizer salads, main course, etc. they all come out at once. The food was mediocre. The waitress did not check on us until the meal was almost complete, One of the diners had to get up and search for the waitress . The veal chop was mediocre and it was not a good quality. The bill was paid in cash, expecting to receive change but never received it. We had to track down the server to get to get the change .
Cypriana confuses me. (I go several times a year.) The food is typically very good and the prices are on the high side but still reasonable. The service can be an issue. Food comes out haphazardly, drinks can take forever and there often seems to be confusion. My guess is that this is an organization issue. Our waitress worked very hard and was dealing with a ton of tables, making it hard for her to keep up. For instance, we ordered 3 table appetizers. Two showed up immediately and the olives took another 15 minutes. Additionally, all but 2 people got drinks quickly with the other two taking much longer. If you go, expect really good Greek food and be ready for upbeat but spotty service. Note that I don't believe the service issue is with the waitresses. (Notice the dirty, partially crinkled menu in my picture.)
TLDR: Decent Mediterranean eats in a cozy atmosphere. For Valentines Day a 25% auto gratuity, only wine by the bottle in the dining room and a rushed service rubbed me the wrong way. Vibe: 4/5. Located in Roland Park across from Homewood Field, Cypriana has a lovely location. One major perk is that they have their own private parking lot across the street, which is free for restaurant patrons. Inside, Cypriana gives off wine cellar vibes with its dimly lit interior and long stretching dining room. There is a nice sized bar as soon as you walk in that is perfect for after work drinks. The main dining room consists mostly of 2 and 4 top tables that can be pushed together for larger groups. Service: 2/5. Unfortunately Cypriana had several misses during our dinner, none to the fault of our server, but to the restaurant itself. We had a dinner reservation for 4 on Valentines Day, so understandably this is a special night for restaurants. Leading up to Valentines Day, Cypriana was advertising on social media some "very special things planned" for the big day, so we were extremely excited to see what they had in store. When we sat down at our table, we come to find out that the special for Valentines Day was a 25% automatic gratuity. That was the big surprise! Typically we tip 20%+ regardless, but having this forced upon us due to Valentines Day was irritating. Once our server arrived at our table and began going over the menu, she brought to our attention that just for Vday, Cypriana was only serving wine by the bottle and they were not serving their entire flatbread menu or their signature cocktail The Mati. So not only were we forced into paying more, but we were stuck with abbreviated food and drink offerings. Talk about pay more, get less. Even with all the immediate letdowns before ordering, we decided to trudge on through dinner. Food and drinks came out wickedly fast, sometimes too fast as our table became overloaded with full plates of food. The menu leans heavily towards appetizers and small plates so meal pacing is understandably difficult from a service standpoint. However, there were instances where we felt rushed by service to finish. Several waiters would come by trying to bus the same dish we were still working on which got old after the 2nd to 3rd time. One final thing to note, we had made our way through our dinner and ordered dessert, a lovely baklava. With forks at the ready, we were in the process of scooping up our first bite when one of the staff that we had zero interaction with all night swooped by our table to scold us for using a fork to eat. "You are only supposed to eat Baklava with your hands!" Jokingly we obliged, but honestly I'm paying for this meal, I don't need someone telling me how to eat it. Food: 3/5. As mentioned above, we decided to order a half dozen small plates and appetizers and overall everything was decent. The stars of the show were anything pita dipping related ie. the salad sampler, sesame roasted feta, hummus of constantinople, and the sheftalies. They make all their pita in house and it comes out pillowy soft, pairing well with any dip. The sheftalies were little pita pockets filled to the brim with hand rolled pork and a tomato cucumber relish that had a lovely balance of savory and tart flavors. Some other things we ordered that were forgettable were the falafel, macaronia tou fournou, moussaka of Cyprus and the cheese puffs. All these dishes were perfectly fine, but just missed the mark whether being slightly underseasoned or dry in texture. Overall, we spent nearly $350 for a table of 4, after the 25% auto gratuity. Maybe without all of the Valentines Day stipulations we would of had a better meal, but it will be a long time before I give Cypriana another shot.
Ok this is my 2nd time here and I was willing to extend grace I give 2 chances before I give up ! We come back bc all I can think about is the lemon potatoes from our first visit the food was underwhelming and they didn’t have lamb chops !! How you are a Greek restaurant!! Anywho my husband gets the veal chop it comes back tough as heck ! I ordered the pork belly with the lemon potatoes sooo excited only to be utterly disappointed at where is the lemon ?? They were dry and tasted old with no lemon !!! The pork belly was ok the tzatziki sauce was amazing! The bacon old fashioned was 10/10 but the service was slow he only checked on us once and when I asked about the potatoes he said I can go get you lemons to squeeze on it !! I was like exsqueeze me !!! Yup I had to ad my own lemon . I’m writing this post as I’m sitting in the restaurant wondering why happed to those glorious lemon potatoes!?? They are over priced for the average quality of service you receive !
I attended for the first time on 11/3/24. At first glance everything was awesome (atmosphere and mood) Service however, was like something I've never experienced. We waited over an hour for appetizers, 30 minutes for drinks (never any refills), and 2 hours for our meal. The server never came to check on us. We opened the restaurant yet those who came one hour after us. Came and left. We were basically ignored by the staff.
Made the mistake of dining here for Mother's Day. They came highly recommended but to my surprise the full menu was not available. There was a "special" Mother's Day menu with limited items and inflated prices. Our waitress Anna was horrible. We asked 3 times to see the selection of tea which she finally brought but never brought the hot water. We received very little attention from her as most of her attention was focused on the table to the right. She never asked how our food was and was slow to respond to requests when we flagged her down. The food was mediocre at best. My salad was delicious but the falafel was hard and dry on the exterior and the moussaka had a chunk of what I assume was eggplant oddly on top that was a weird texture which I couldn't cut through. It was inedible. Overall not a pleasant experience.
Very disappointed with the food at Cypriana. We had a pleasant experience; our server was very helpful in explaining the menu. All the food was over priced and bland. I don't mind paying a premium for a small amount of food, but it has to be well seasoned and well made. Every dish we had was dull and uninteresting, we've had better falafel at fast food restaurants. We did leave full despite the small plates, but we were expecting much more for the price
The restaurant hosted a birthday party for a friend and had a dedicated menu package for all guests and then (without the hosts knowledge) served some of the guests off their regular menu causing an overage on the bill of over two thousand dollars. When I requested to see the manager a lady came out and said she was the head chef (she was actually the owner but didn't disclose that). I explained to her the situation and she simply said well that falls on your waiter and it will come out of his check if you dont pay it. Our waiter was a 20 year old young man and the only black server I saw in the establishment, then she hit his chest and walked away. We could not allow her to do that so we took care of it. We then noticed that she was yelling at him behind the bar in the middle of the restaurant in front of guests so we put a stop to that as well. As the owner she should have taken equal responsibility at a minimum. Also, to share our experience about the restaurant it was terrible. It was family style shared meal and they didnt give each table enough food at all they had little cuts of meat with toothpicks in them and not even one per person I split one with my husband it was crazy! Then we were instructed to park across the street as restaurant parking and almost had our car towed because the parking lot is shared with apartments and no signage for that so we had to pay the tow driver to not tow our car. It was a terrible experience and we were a large party of black people in a Greek establishment and felt the discrimination. I will never go there again!
I never write reviews but I am surprised that this restaurant is still operating. We have had dined there in the past when it first opened and it was fine, last evening was horrid, from the terrible service to the substandard food, the marinated chicken and potatoes were dry and obviously reheated old food. I was exited to order octopus, one tentacle of hard tasteless octopus was presented with quinoa I will never go again, other members of our party were also extremely disappointed, I was embarrassed for the owners…..what a waste of my time and money.
The menu looked promising but the reality was extremely disappointing, I ordered octopus, one DRY tentacle was presented with a side of quinoa, another member of my party ordered marinated chicken & potatoes which were both dry, I would not waste my time or money at this establishment and to top it all off the service was horrid. I was embarrassed for the owners.
I attended a gathering of friends and family to celebrate our sister’s Birthday 11/03/2024 . She reserved a seating for 18-24 people, which the owner accommodated her with. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were greeted nicely and seated, given menus. No staff had approached us so someone in our party asked for a drink menu, at this time most of our party had arrived, one waitress spilled water on our table, almost getting it on someone. Finally a waitress started taking appetizer orders, then came back to take our meal orders. All the time I am looking around the restaurant and patrons have been coming in at least an hour later than we arrived, they have water , drinks, and appetizers, still we have nothing. We became to think, oh they forgot about us. But no they didn’t, some drinks finally came out 45 minutes after we got there, then maybe 30 more minutes later appetizer came out, but not everyone. Then a 30 minute wait for our dinner was served, but alas some of the dishes were incomplete, missing the protein ( shrimp) supposedly had 4 on menu, and sent each dish with 2 . Never asking anyone if they wanted refills, my wife ordered two different drinks that she sent back because she was disappointed in the taste of the drink, that she’s had many, many times. If it had not been my baby sister special day, we all would’ve gotten up and walked out. This is a terrible way to run a business. Sterling & Linette
They aren't ready for big groups You'll get absolutely neglected by the waitresses since they already know they have 20% gratituy! You won't even get water glasses filled. The manager came and said oh sorry please tip accordingly, knowing we're already paying 20% tip!
*****THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN CUSTOMERS******* If I could give this place a negative 100 I would. My aunt's birthday was ruined. We had reservations for a party of 18. It took 3 hours to get our food. Our appetizers took 2 hours. Our order was incomplete with food being left off. When some of our entrees arrived 3 hours later our food was cold and dry. I order chicken tenderloins that tasted like cold cardboard. My son's chicken pita was basically a dry veggie pita with one of my chicken tenderloins thrown in the middle. The waitress who automatically received a $300 tip never refilled our drinks or any of our order requests. Basically she took our orders and that was it. She served the tables around us, while ignoring our requests to the point that we had to literally get up and hunt someone down to get water. They actually gave us 4 bottles of tap water at the end of our meal. Some of our party members left due to the wait and poor service. The manager didn't come to see what was going on. My uncle's and cousins had to find the manager who still wouldn't come to the table to address the issues. If you're African American please do not attend this restaurant. Our treatment was terrible and the food was worse. This establishment is not a place for African Americans. They wanted the money, while giving us very poor service. I've had better service and food at a McDonald's, which we went to after leaving hungry. My aunt was super excited to eat here, because she had dined here in the past. THANKS FOR RUINING MY AUNT'S BIRTHDAY.
First time here. Not sure why this restaurant has good reviews. It may be just fake. Everything is overrated. Food - $14 hummus is jokingly small portion. They put a little bit at the bottom and then some around the plate. Nothing in the middle of the plate. One piece of pita bread. $14 Greek salad is like a side dish, came with a little bowl. It’s not even a Greek salad but came with some white sauce. Sea bass is dry and frozen quality. Shrimp has no flavor as well. $28 with 4 shrimp in a small plate. Too bad. We only took one photo due to lost of appetite Service - a woman in dark black glasses walked around to all tables to chat except our table. Our server never paid attention to us or check on things. It seems like different ppl serve the same table but ours has one server who provided no service. She even did not change plate after appetizer and asked if we can continue to use the small plates for entree while we are sharing food. When we first sat down, she tried to sell us to buy the $45 per person unlimited small dishes. We were not hungry after a big lunch so we didn’t buy that. May be that’s the reason they gave us terrible service? Overall, very disappointing restaurant with cheating high price, small portion, poor food quality and bad service. Will not come back!! Plenty of choice in the area
