Very good food. Not as spicy as I expected but it is still tasty. (I ordered green curry.) Mango sticky rice is a bit too sweet to my taste but overall it’s a good meal. The little back yard space is very relaxing. I would come back again.
This was my first time here, and as soon as I walked in the doors I knew I was giving it five stars. The food smelled so good right off the bat, the restaurant was clean and modern looking and even though they were very busy we were seated and served pretty much immediately. The service was decent, there were so many people that a little wait wasn't a big deal and the the food was worth every second. I liked the strawberry margarita, it wasn't too sweet and lasted through the meal. We ordered shumai for the table, streamed and those were demolished. The largest shumai I have ever had! I had the Drunken noodles, spicy level. It had a great tingle to the lips but wasn't overpowering at all. Lots of flavors and the shrimp were MASSIVE. My bf got a fried fish dish which I cannot remember the name of, but the fish batter was so light and DELICIOUS. Major win for me, and this was his first time ever trying thai food. The side of Jasmine rice was cooked perfectly as well. My mom got a curry style soup (also very yummy, I stole bites from everyone because it all looked phenomenal) which has such depth of flavor and really felt very comforting. I cannot wait till next time I visit this summer so I can come back and try something else!
Enjoyed a great meal while visiting here from NYC where there is no shortage of Thai food. Isaan could hold its own against anything at home in Manhattan. The staff was great, friendly and helpful in picking from their many offerings. The fried fish was my favorite.
I can't say enough about how fantastic the food is at this place! It has quickly become my go-to spot, and I've never been disappointed with the quality. It's also a great venue to hang out with friends.
The “KAI SAM ROS” and “PAD PRIK KANG” are to die for. So good.
If you're in the Hudson area and craving Thai food, look no further than Isaan Thai Star. In addition to excellent food and drinks, it offers efficient service and great vibes that include beautiful live music. The Panang Salmon was phenomenal, both in its plating and taste. The Himmapan Chicken and Drunken Noodle Chicken both packed a little heat but were excellent options. The Spring Roll was great, the Shumai was decent, the unsweetened Thai Iced Tea was refreshing, and the Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk was also a hit (without the milk overpowering the flavor). All in all, we greatly enjoyed our evening dinner here, and would highly recommend Isaan to others.
So good! If you're craving some Thai food in the area, make sure to pay them a visit because they are the newest star in town! We ordered a salmon dish, a noodle dish, and the mango sticky rice and they were all superb. Their atmosphere was also to die for, with open outdoor seating featuring a lovely jazz band. The service is also amazing! Please don't hesitate to pay them a visit!
Great food with reasonable price! Don’t miss their specialty menu. We ordered 3 of them and all turns out surprisingly good!
Ate there for the first time this past week and certainly WILL return. Fantastic tasty meals, reasonable prices ,pleasant staff and a large outdoor patio. Can't ask for much more .
Probably one of the only restaurants open in New Year’s Day. Looked like a full staff team but service was a bit slow. Food however, was delicious. We had the Green Curry and the Drunken Noodle (one of the best we’ve had). Will definitely stop by again when we’re in the area.
Got take out during a crazy snow storm and was not disappointed. Being our first time trying Isaan, I played it safe and got the Pad Thai with tofu. It was some of the best Pad Thai I’ve ever had and tasted so fresh. We’ll definitely be eating here during our next stay in Hudson. I keep saying “I wish we had a Isaan in Brooklyn”.
Best Thai food I've ever had, great atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating and a fine bar. The staff is very nice and there is live music on saturdays & sundays. Honestly the best food in Hudson.
The cocktails were good and the food was even better! Great service and they have many different options for dietary restrictions. I will definitely go back when visiting the area!
We ordered the special (steak curry), shrimp spring rolls, chicken satay, and one of the noodle dishes and everything was fantastic. We are visiting from out of town but we ordered the delivery to our hotel and it was surprisingly speedy and everything was still hot. Very good food!
The reviews do not lie. This is really good Thai. The new space is spacious. We had crispy eggplant w/veggies, tom kah gai (my favorite soup and an excellent test of a restaurant’s quality), and two specials: the grilled octopus salad and the seafood penang. We had someone who is sensitive to spice and they were fine (everything was quite mild). If you like food spicier you should ask them to jack it up. The portions are substantial.
Tried this place for the first time last Saturday, ordered the green curry, I tried the medium spice and it was too spicy for me, but not so spicy that I couldn't eat it. I ordered the green curry again this weekend and got mild spice; the mild was perfect, I also ordered the Drunken Noodle. Very good!
Thai food just as good if not better then what you can get in the city. Always stop here when I get the chance.
We had an incredible meal here at Issan Thai tonight. Not only is the new space big, beautiful and clean, the staff goes above and beyond to be friendly and kind. Beyonte, our waitress was incredibly attentive, kind & gave great suggestions for our meal. The portions of our meals were huge and very flavorful and delicious. The shumai was excellent and homemade. We will 100% return to issan! Thank you!
From someone who talks way too much about how sad they are about Uncle Boons closing in NYC please know that this is the best Thai food you will get in this area. The food is *consistently* good and the staff are lovely; delivery is fast and always hot. My household loves Isaan Thai! Tip well it’s a pandemic!
I would say hands down a diamond in the rough - this place may seem low key on the outside but has some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. The curries, the satay, the shumai, the fried rice, I could go on and on. Very little oil, tons of flavor, and fresh meats and vegetables. Everything shines. And you don’t feel heavy or gross after, it’s phenomenal Thai food that has out shined any other Thai place I’ve had in NYC/London
Pricey, but worth every penny. You can tell (as their website says) that they use lots of local ingredients. Staying in Hudson for 4 weeks, we ordered delivery 4 times and were astounded every time. This was better all around than any thai place in our old stomping grounds (greenpoint brooklyn). They had the best satay I've had in years and the best massaman curry I've ever had.... The delivery is extremely fast, the first time we ordered it came in 15 minutes, the longest we had to wait was ~30 minutes. If you are craving thai, you have to try this... food tastes like someone really loves what they are doing. So glad we had this place to order from - ordering options in Hudson are currently pretty limited :D
Authentic delicious Thai food. I’ve been to Thailand and have experienced very good Thai restaurants in New York City. This restaurant ranks highly compared to both. Great vegan options and excellent quality.
Every order in the last couple of years from Isaan Thai Star has been a hit - each dish is a balance of flavor and heat, the right texture and density. Service is always sweet and take out conscientiously packed. Their peanut sauce is divine - we often order a side to-go to have with meals at home!
I used to be a really purist about Thai food so I didn't think I would like thisplace, but they really have everything down! I usually get pad thai and red curry, they recently added jelly thai iced tea to the menu and its sooo good. I 100% reccomend it if ur in the mood for thai!
First experience was 10/10. Everything we ordered was excellent. The mango sticky rice was delicious. My Thai Iced tea was perfect. We will absolutely return.
Really good Thai food. Comes out quick and hot. Can get really busy though.
Blows all other Thai food in the area out of the water; a little pricier but absolutely worth it for the portion sizes and the food itself. I’ve never eaten in, only takeout, but the staff is wonderful and knows me on sight now. Highly recommend the pad see ew and if you are a spice fan ask for any dish to be made “Thai Spicy” and you will not be disappointed
Was very surprised to find a Thai place of this caliber outside big city. Seems like whoever runs this place is doing so on a tight ship, when we had a number of food questions, the regular staff referred us to a specific person. Had Massaman curry with tofu, which was well balanced - tofu was not fried and was flavorful. Kai Pad Woon sen was really good - chicken was cooked really nicely, dish was a touch oily. Beef noodle soup (forgot name) was generous on the beef and the broth was rich without being too salty. Really expansive specials menu - would definitely come back here. Can see why this place was packed despite being on an off street while some other dinner spots were half empty when we visited.
Delicious food, exemplary service! Issan Thai provided food for our son’s rehearsal dinner and it was perfect; everybody raved about the food! We ordered 3 appetizers and 5 main dishes for 30 people. Andy was very helpful in figuring out quantities and responsive to my many emailed questions. Food was delivered on time and set up in chafing dishes; staff made sure we had serving utensils, boxes for leftovers, and everything else we needed before leaving. (We didn’t hire them to stay and serve.) We returned the dishes the next day. We had enough leftovers for another (smaller) group dinner on Sunday, which we appreciated. Highly recommend this restaurant!!
We are locals and have eaten here several times. Originally from California we have eaten at many Thai restaurants, and this is among the best. The sauces are key and we’ve found that Isaan Star cooks have pretty well nailed it. Freshness; not afraid of spice if you request. Prompt but unobtrusive service. It is Evidently popular with a flow of take out orders along with a large dining area. It’s essentially one of our two (thus far) go-to places to eat. We’ve used dine in, take out and delivery. Want to add: the Most functional and well-designed online ordering I have experienced. These people have gotten good Web designers to do their site; sounds strange to say this maybe, but I am just a citizen and have used A Lot of Mobile ordering sites. Slick.
Absolutely delicious food and friendly for gluten free folks!
First time here and we were pleasantly surprised at the spacious, modern yet warm interior. Menu has many choices without being overwhelming. You can choose proteins from tofu to meat options. There's a variety of spice levels. I had the green curry and it had a pleasant kick to it. A lovely enclosed patio will be open when weather permits. Looking forward to returning to try more dishes that caught my eye.
My sister was in from out of state visiting, so we decided to make a tourist stop in Hudson. We stumbled upon Isaan Thai Star on our walk. I love great Thai food, she, not so much. So when she LOVED her food,THAT should tell the review all in itself! The food was perfect, and I'm a picky Thai food guy. In fact it was so good, that we both ordered take out to take back home with us! The staff was very friendly. Having worked in restaurants a few times in my life, a clean kitchen is important to me, since I have seen it all first hand. Their kitchen is clearly visible, and it was spotless. I hadn't visited Hudson in 28 years, but now I have a very good reason to make a trip to Hudson!
Not only is the inside cute but they have a really nicely decorated outside area that doubles the space. Every item our group ordered was delicious warm and fresh. I would recommend the soup and crispy eggplant and the sticky mango rice for dessert! They also have a variety of iced green and Thai teas that were delicious.
A friend and I met for dinner. We both enjoy Thai food. We had the summer rolls as an appetizer. The vegetables were fresh & crunchy. My salmon was perfectly cooked and the sauce delicious. My friend got a fish dish. The portion could have fed 2 if not 3 people so she took some home. It's cooked in a batter and was the best crispy crunchy ever. I can't wait to go back.
Takeout was fabulous. The pad see ew was to die for. The sauce that came with the chicken satay was especially memorable. It came quickly and was piping hot upon being delivered to our door step. Love it.
Not much atmosphere but the food is delicious. The only thing is they have Americanized the palette to be not spicy. For some that’s good but it makes the food sweeter than it would be at home.
Highly recommend this restaurant! Found this place on a warm summer day that was pet friendly and we loved it! The food is delicious and authentic with Thai flavors! The staff are super friendly and even got some extra boiled chicken for our pups while we were having lunch. If you’re in the area and are craving for Thai food, please try this restaurant out!
First time here and new to the area. This just might be my favorite Thai restaurant that I've been to so far. The Pad See Ew was very savory, the Pad Thai medium spicy really brought the heat, and the Thai Iced Tea was flavorful, but not too sweet. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting or living in the area. Edit: just dined in and my server rang in the wrong order....STILL received a 5 star experience. Instead of Pad See Ew I was given Drunken Noodle. Not even upset because it was delicious. This place has seen some changes and the quality is still top notch. I couldn't recommend this restaurant more highly.
A really great place to eat. Wide selection of delicious meals, service was prompt. We enjoyed ourselves very much.
I am happy to have such an excellent Thai place in Hudson. The food here is great. The service is prompt and attentive and the prices are very reasonable. I'll be back to try more items on the menu. Since I wrote this, the restaurant has moved to a larger location up the street. There is now outdoor seating and live music but the food is as good -- if not better -- than it ever was and the service hasn't missed a beat. It's certainly one of the best restaurants in Hudson which is saying a lot.
Service: waitress was very kind, quick, and the food came out fast and piping hot. Food: drunken noodles- so flavorful! And to our surprise there was a very large portion of each vegetables, protein, and noodles. Green curry- bold flavors, piping hot, piled high with veggies and protein. So good we couldn’t stop eating it. Definitely going to come back (and it’s worth the 45 min drive for us) and would recommend!
DELICIOUS food and GREAT vibes and environment. The outdoor seating is perfect and lovely, and the fried rice is even better. Nice but pretty average service. The noodles and curries are also immaculate. LOVE it!
Amazing food, really fair prices, generous portions, great service. Delivery is fast and has always been accurate, plus every delivery person has always had a big smile on. Super happy to support this place, will continue to do so. Favorite dish: Green Curry with chicken.
Got $90 worth of delivery food last night and was truly exceptional quality. The Papaya salad was one of the best, the Thai basil fried rice was probably the best I've ever had take-out. Would recommend to anyone
Wow! I usually don’t write reviews but for Isaan Thai Star, I HAVE to because the food was simply amazing! We had the chicken drunken noodles, the shrimp fried rice, the red curry, and thai iced tea. All the dishes tasted absolutely delicious and it was filled with flavor! If you like spicy food this is the place for you. Also, it made me want to come for a second time during my stay here in Catskills.
This was a great choice for our large family group. Food was delicious and they were very accommodating about each person’s preference for spice. There was live entertainment (on a Saturday evening) which was excellent and added to the ambiance without overpowering conversation. Additional note: beware that a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill and not disclosed. So be careful not to double tip. The service was good but 40% is excessive.
I love this restaurant!! The food is delicious and authentic. The music on Fridays and Saturdays is most enjoyable!!!! Highly recommend this place for a overall great dining experience ❤️
Beautiful place, original decor, outside seating is very pleasant, live music and the food is very good, fresh and full of flavor. Best place in Hudson. Cannot wait to go back again.
The best Thai food in the Hudson valley and Catskills I’m obsessed and love basically everything on this menu. You cannot go wrong with anything. Fast service even when they are crazy busy and the outdoor seating is so nice too. Mt favorite dishes are summer rolls, TOM KHA KAI, PAD SEE EW, and KAI SAM ROS
I especially enjoy stopping at Isaan Thai Star for lunch! The luncheon menu offers many options. My favorite are the soups which are a perfect meals in cold blustery days. The owner and staff are helpful and very personable. Why not stop by soon for either lunch or dinner....you will nit be disappointed!
Such a wonderful place! The vibe and food are incredible ☺️ I love when they have live music!
I absolutely love the food & restaurant 💛 the only consideration I’d like to voice is that of the live music being too loud for some seniors. If you make adjustments on Saturdays pin it under this comment & we will be sure to return! Thank you!!!
Honestly, we had such a great time! The drinks were perfect. The food was perfect my friend who moved here from Thailand recommended it and it was so good!
The best restaurant experience, food, music, and people I’ve ever had the pleasure of being served by. Would recommend to God if he asked
Came here with my husky. They had no problem with us sitting on the patio with him. They even brought him ice water. The cocktails we ordered were great and the food was delicious. Phenomenal, best thai restaurant I've been to in a long time. Many of the dishes were available gluten free. Second time there and a must everytime I am here from Chicago. Highly recommend. Pricey but delicious.
Grabbed this place for takeout on a rainy night in Hudson and it was some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. We got Drunken Noodles w/ Crispy Chicken, Pad Thai w/ Tofu, and Chiang Mai Noodle (Kow Soi). The latter of which was almost, with only a touch of hyperbole, life changing. Also to note, the portion sizes are fantastic. These three dishes lasted from dinner, through late night snacking, and into lunch the following day.
Wonderful wait staff, wonderful music, wonderful food, and wonderful owner who is very capable receiving criticism. Best spot in the area!
Great food, friendly staff and good drinks!
Best Thai food I have had in a while. Literally everything you want on a Thai palette.

Delicious fresh food. Will tailor to desired spice preference. Nice cocktails. Comfortable outdoor patio seating with great live jazz. A wonderful evening!
I’m local and come here all the time. It’s one of our “go to” places! It’s always very good and reasonably priced. Just went 08/10 and ate outside with our dog. As always the food was excellent, but last night was especially good, as I always order Thai spicy and last night had a little extra kick, which is what I like! But the reason I’m reviewing today and I have never before was because the band! They were so awesome and you can tell they were having a good time! I would come every single time they play! Great food and great music, and I was in a good mood bc you could tell that band really enjoyed playing!
Fantastic Thai food. Great flavors, spice and heat (if you want that). Esan has a beautiful space both indoor and out, and the prices are quite reasonable for the quality of the food. The Tom Yum soups are unbelievably delicious. Very attentive service.

The papaya salad was pretty good, but missing lime juice, not enough acidity from the lime. Other foods that we ordered were okay, and the fried pork meat was bad. The crunchy-ness of the fried fish in Basil sauce was perfect, but taste was just okay. The service was great 👍
I've only been to the new location a few times, the food is the same (delicious) and everything else has gotten better. More space, including a beautiful outside patio/garden area. Nice bar area. The whole place is very bright and airy. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. Will definitely be back and have already recommended it to friends. It's located across the street from Upper Depot Brewing and close walking distance to Warren St.
Great service. The food I recommend green curry. But the dishes are too oily and salty and it needed to be adjusted. Mango sticky rice is great, a little too sweet and chef can change the coconut sauce 🥹
Yum! We really enjoyed our lunch here just a block away from the main strip in Hudson. Cute, clean, modern interior with lots of space and quick + kind service. We had the drunken noodles and pineapple fried rice. Both portion sizes were decent and both had great complex flavor with fresh tasting ingredients. I especially loveeeed the spice level of our drunken noodles! Thai tea always a must. The spring rolls were tasty as well. Portions are a little on the pricier side but typical for the area. Solid Thai option for lunch or dinner
We had take out for 10 and it was really good. Lots of different dishes and it was delicious.
Decent food, huge portion sizes! Def not the best thai ever, but solid, esp. for upstate ny!
Lovely and fast Thai food in an open spacious layout!
Great food and a very famous place in Hudson! The service is great!
Great food, beautiful outdoor space! Made reservations for Saturday night 9f labor day weekend and requested an outside table. The entire restaurant is gorgeous but the outdoor space is stunning and seating was very comfortable. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and drinks. The owner was working the bar, taking orders helping with everything! As a restaurant family we appreciated all that he was doing for sure. The servers were all pitching in and had smiles even though they were running like crazy. We had a wonderful relaxing evening.
Great Thai food and beautiful backdoor patio with lights. We arrived at 8:20 and didn't have time to wait for a table. This restaurant is understaffed. Our server didn't refill water until we flagged her down to ask. When we were finished we flagged down another staff member for a carryout box and to pay our bill and STILL waited to pay and leave. The huge outdoor patio should have had more staff.
Have eaten Thai many times both in and outside Thailand. Yes I have eaten better in some big cities or Thailand. But this was the best I have ever had in a smaller town. Not too sweet as you often find when Thai places cater to Western taste. Good portions as well and friendly swift service. Would recommend when you are in the area

This is an outstanding restaurant with most dishes near perfect the only negative thing I can say is the live music is ear shattering and hard to enjoy your meal or have a conversation. Music was fair if they would just lower the volume quite a bit... also the food tends to run very spicy so you might want to ask for Milder heat
Very nice atmosphere, so many vegan options! The tofu satay was amazing but the fried rice was very bland, just tasted spicy and unseasoned.

5 star food (having eaten may times at the old location) 1 star on service at new location. Don’t get me wrong this place has good eats but is struggling having moved from a 500 square foot space to a 4000 square foot space. Hint you need some organization think dedicated hostesses, wait staff with assigned sections and food runners. We sat down and it was 20 minutes before anyone came to the table and it just went down hill from there. We ended up walking out. Will be back or just do takeout. Take some time and work on it guys you can do better!
I love eating at this place but I recommend you don’t order out. Their ordering system is busted and they “can’t do nothing about it”.(owner was a little rude) I even called beforehand to see if they were delivering. Again one of my favorites. But they REALLY need to do something about their system.
We felt slightly abandoned most of the night. Waitress came to take our order, realized she didn't have her notepad, said she would be right back, but 20 minutes later we had to call her over and she didn't know why. Three of our 4 entrees were delivered, and after 15 minutes and a trip to the manager, we got the fourth.
We felt this place had an inviting atmosphere and great portion sizes, but the quality of the food was wanting. The taste of the Pad Thai was decent, the Pad See Ew had too much salt that overwhelmed the other flavors. Hosts were attentive to our needs and were down to earth in their interaction with us. The natural light through the storefront was quite pleasant. For the price, it's a decent place to eat in Hudson if you're craving Thai.
Food is consistent and generally very good. I would not recommend ordering delivery. We order for delivery pretty consistently during the winter months, 1-2x month as Friday treat. We have always had a great experience until our last. We ordered around 5:30pm, quoted time was 45 minutes - no problem. Around 6:30pm we hadn't received our order, we called and were told deliveries had not gone out yet but were about to. Around 7pm we called again and were told the driver was out, we should get out order soon. About 15 minutes later we get a call from a different person telling us our food was delivered at 6pm. My husband did receive a missed call around this time but no message was left, no one rang our door bell or knocked on the door. Should we have answered the phone? Yes. We also both receive about 10 spam calls per day at all hours, if there is no message we would not think anything of it. On top of that the restaurant was completely unaware both times that we called to check on our order that our food had been delivered. We were told the entire situation was our fault, not even an apology or acknowledgement of a miscommunication or mishandling of our order. Food was cold, soggy and inedible after sitting outside in the cold for an hour and a half.
My wife and I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. We were seated at this tiny table with barely enough room for the food and drinks we ordered. We were so uncomfortable not to mention we waited over a half hour before anyone came over to take our order. The waitress we had was horrible. I don't know if she was drunk or what but she spilled my soup on the table and almost on me. She was very inattentive and never came back to see how we were doing. We had to chase staff down to get more drinks, napkins, etc... Absolutely unacceptable service and to top it all off the food was not that good. A bowl of soup is $12.00. We ordered a cup of soup but they brought us each a bowl instead. We will never eat at Issan Thai Star again.
The service is horrible. They kept bringing us the wrong food. Also they took a very long time to take the order and get us the correct food. This happens every time we try to eat at this restaurant. It’s our last visit.
Service very slow. Waited 30 minutes for cocktails . Band too loud. Brought dish not ordered. Disappointed
The food is great. The restaurant is beautiful. They need to hire 50% more staff, minimum, for the weekends, or seat fewer tables. It's clearly greedy management, and the customer experience suffers: after I received my entree, I stared at it for 15 minutes while I asked 3 different staff members for cutlery. I really would have preferred to wait 20 minutes for a table and have my food when it was warm. Edit: Removed a star for management being incapable of accepting feedback.
