After all of my Matcha stops in the NYC area - I was thrilled to discover the best **Matcha Thomas** is right here in my new community. The classic Matcha Thomas is my absolute favorite. It’s creamy, earthy and as sweet as you want it to be 0-100%. The service is friendly and personal as the staff team makes an undeniable effort to get to know customers. The space is beautiful and calming. I have fallen in love with Matcha all over again.
This place is an actual gem. I stopped by on what was arguably probably their busiest day this whole year and unfortunately had to leave before I could order. I came back the next day and not only did the co-owners remember me and apologize for the long wait time, they had surveyed almost everyone in line in order to get ideas on how to improve the wait time and ordering process and it worked! Truly so impressed by this level of customer service and dedication to your business. It’s so rare to see that these days and it’s why small businesses are the heart and soul of a town. On top of that, my drink was fantastic, the place was sparkling clean with a super calming atmosphere, and all of the employees were 100% on it, even towards the end of another insanely busy day. Kudos to battling a worldwide matcha shortage, increased popularity from TikTok, and a super busy fall season. I will be back every time I’m in Beacon!
This was the best matcha I’ve had in the states!!! The line was long but once I got inside I saw why. Each beverage is carefully crafted. The matcha and hot water are weighed for each and every drink, there was no guessing to be done. I loved that the space was extremely clean, the staff were knowledgeable, and courteous. You are asked what level of sweetness you prefer (it’s also listed on the menu). The best part which I made a note to share is it’s women owned AND that it’s completely vegan and gluten free. I can’t wait to have another beverage next time I’m in the Hudson Valley
Definitely worth the wait 🍵 We stopped by during our trip to Beacon and enjoyed the different matchas. If you want something creamy go for the Matcha Thomas. If you want something light go for the Vanilla Brown Sugar Matcha. My friend also enjoyed the Lavender Dreams and Bubble Thai iced tea. Would definitely come back! We paired it with donuts from Glazed Donuts a few blocks down :)
What an incredible hidden gem in the heart of the Hudson Valley! I ordered a pumpkin spice matcha latte with sweet foam and it was made with so much care. Honestly, one of the best matcha beverages I have ever had. They source their matcha from the capital of matcha: Uji, Japan. I did not get to meet the sisters but the two employees were so lovely and welcoming. The cafe was wheelchair accessible, spacious, and had an accessible outdoor table on the sidewalk.
I love Matcha Thomas! I came here about a year ago for the first time and have made the trip to Beacon from Manhattan at least 5-6 times just to come back here. The drinks, atmosphere, and service are top tier!! I know they’re having trouble with the Matcha supply right now which must be stressful, but the employees are just as kind and warm as ever despite it🥹 This is an absolute MUST visit if you’re in the area!
I’m not gonna lie this was the best matcha I’ve had in a while and I have plenty in NYC!! I got the regular Oat Milk + Matcha at 25% sugar and it was perfect. The specialty Orange Blossom one tasted exactly like cereal milk and matcha and it works so well! Wish I tried the boba. They have a comfortable and cozy ambiance as well as this cute post it wall where you can pay forward a cup for someone else. Highly recommend you stop by!!
This place was busy and the line moved every 15 mins. The baristas are so cute and take their time to perfect the drinks. We ordered the fresh strawberry match with oatmilk and Boba. I took only 10% sugar. The drinks were ready in another 6 mins. They were so good and it was a perfect combo. The only thing I noticed is that when they make drinks and there are many ready together it is hard to know which is yours. Some customer took another's drink by mistake and then the barista had to go and take it back. Personally I would not want a drink that is touched by others. Maybe they need to label the drinks like starbucks.
Great addition to Beacon, but needs work We were thrilled upon seeing that Beacon offers a variety of modern and different matchas here at Matcha Thomas. We escape the city to get a little bit of air, but seeing such a big part of culinary culture spread through upstate is amazing. It was the weekend and naturally, the line was out the door. Unfortunately, the wait to even order was rather long. Drinks seem to be made right after ordering, so the initial wait simply just to put in order in is rather long. What it seemed to mark was a lack of efficiency. Different people were working on different things: not one person consistently on the cashiering side, labeling cups, making matchas, washing dishes, it was a bit of a jumbled up system. When waiting to order, I couldn't help but feel bad for the girls working. They were clearly so backed up and were working tirelessly without an efficient system. We ordered our matcha, the elderflower derivative, and were surprised to hear that the "power" part of the drink was just to make the name more interesting, not necessarily an indicator of anything else. I was disappointed to see that the sugar options weren't super flexible, with 50% sugar being the next down from 100%, and then after going to 25% and 0%. What was nice though, was that my matcha came out rather quickly. Unfortunately, the matcha was not good. The elderflower felt like a second thought, and was barely noticeable. It tasted more-so like very matcha flavored water, rather than anything else. You would think for at least 50% sugar you'd get a little bit of sweetness, but it was pretty bitter. Overall, my partner remarked that it was "not worth the wait," and that the matcha itself was super forgettable and un-noteworthy. I was disappointed to say that I agreed with him. While the branding, vibe, and relaxation room are super nice concepts, the drinks themselves seem to need work, whether it's the method of which they are being created (seamlessly, efficiently, etc), or the taste themselves. Significantly more to be left desired. Interesting note as well: there was a woman named Betty mentioning that there was a little fruit fly in her drink. I didn't think much of it, but when I was waiting in line to order, I did notice a bunch of little fruit flies just zooming around and hovering over by the matcha making area. Wonder if there's some sort of sanitation issue--it wasn't super obvious, but it did make me raise an eyebrow after perusing through some of the reviews. Overall, I'd likely not order from here again. While I was excited about the idea, the matcha itself wasn't anything special--it did definitely give me energy and wake me up, but I can do that with a cuppa joe, that would likely taste better as well.
I was so happy today to stop there on the way to the train and buy the iced matcha with almond milk. The taste was good. I was drinking that tea. After some time I noticed a little bug inside of the cup. So disgusting 🤢 If I only could go back and show them!! Very disappointed! It looks like that place is not clean. Should be no stairs for that experience! Yes, you can’t see the bug very well on the pictures. I was in the train and couldn’t make a better picture. At the beginning I also thought it was a piece of tea. When the ice melted I could recognize it.
