Listen: I’ve been going to this Soulman’s location for about a yr now & I must say I have not one time had a bad experience. From the food to the staff to the atmosphere. Ray is my favorite b/c he goes above & beyond for me to have it my way & also will accommodate my disabled mom so she can enjoy her food just the way she likes. His vibe along with the other staff is A1 b/c every time I leave not only am I smiling but I’m laughing from beginning to end. Anytime I think bbq I go here. Each visit Ray & staff makes me feel as we’re true family. Mom & I used to dine in but her health prevents it at the moment but it doesn’t stop me from takeout. Every now & again I get a taste test & everything is always tender & juicy. Ray is very knowledgeable about the food they serve & the way he takes care of business you’d think he owned the place. Ray would definitely make a great owner of this establishment. Thanks Soulman’s

Always such friendly service here! This is some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had, hands down. Restaurant is very clean too. Angel was very kind and had great customer service!

We came in, never eating here before, and had to order for 5 ppl. I had a list of what everyone wanted and the gentleman cutting the meat took our list and made sure everyone knew what we wanted. We also had to wait about 10 min and they gave us a free complimentary large drink for waiting. Everyone was great from the moment we came. Great customer service!! You don’t find that no more!! We will be back!!

I visited there again yesterday and I definitely noticed much better customer service. The staff greeted customers coming in and there was good eye contact and smiles from the servers. The barbecue was really pretty good but the meat portion sizes could be a little better. I was even thanked for bringing my receipt back for a discount which impressed me. Keep up the good work. There's a lot of competition out there but ya'll might be my go to BBQ restaurant...we'll see.

OMG!!! This was so good and the portions were big! The guy, Ray and staff was nice and very accommodating. Not sure if he is the manager or not but I got a manager vibe. He even came around to make sure we didn’t beed anything else. Hubby is from KC so it’s hard to please him when it comes to BBQ so to hear him say it was GREAT, says a lot!! We WILL be back again!! This is now our new BBQ got to spot!! Thanks Ray for your kindness!!!

We went for the 1st time. The place was very nice. We ordered brisket sandwiches with spicy beans, I had cream corn and my husband had the fried potatoes. It was well seasoned and very good too. The service is excellent. Very helpful with the menu. We also had complimentary ice cream! Bonus! Price was as other barbecue places. It will now be our go to barbecue place.

Met CEO Brett Randle. He was serving food last Tuesday at Hulen and and Sycamore School Road in SW Fort Worth Texas. He is a very nice guy and talked to me and my wife. We told him that we were glad they chose this location for a restaurant and that the food has always been delicious and good portion size. On Tuesday 04/8/2025, My Honey asked me what did I want to eat. I Stated SoulMan’s ribs and Fried okra. My Honey brought me some ribs back. He & I tried eating the ribs but they were too salty! I made a phone call that next morning and spoke with Mr. Gary. Mr. Gary asked me did I still have the receipt, I stated yes, He told me to bring the receipt and he would replace the whole meal. Upon arriving on Friday 04/10/2025, I walked in the restaurant and asked to speak with Mr. Gary and was given my entire meal just like Gary stated over the phone!!! I really appreciate that. I've been driving by this restaurant since it was under construction that's got to be close to 2 years now. Today was the day I actually stopped in for lunch I had a job to beef sandwich with the ranchero beans the drink was included. All in all it was a really great experience staff was friendly engaging the barbecue was rarely really really good it was definitely well smoked well flavored and without doubt good. The ranchero beans were decent as well lot of flavor in those beans for sure but just be warned they're little on the spicy side so if that's not your thing you might want to try the other beans that they have. I'll definitely be back inbabd recommend it to others. I had to come back and also add that it was very well priced what I mean is it was affordable it wasn't outrageous like some barbecue restaurants. I think my lunch with the drink was under $15 that's hard to find it in a good restaurant a good barbecue restaurant

First time ordering here. Fried Fish on Friday’s at 5pm. The fish was delicious. I had a side of potatoes and mac n cheese…very good!!! I will definitely order again.

The food was good as usually is at Soulman’s, but what impressed me so much was the employees from beginning to end! The men at the front helped a super cranky & rude lady & never skipped a beat & no side-eye amongst them even after she left. All the staff were friendly & helpful & sitting there watching not one was slacking, which you don’t often see places. The designated man cleaning up the restaurant really got me. He takes his job seriously! He cleaned the dining room four times while we ate, and was so meticulous. Both of us went to the restroom before we left & was crazy clean. I’m so impressed & glad we stopped by today as we don’t live close by, but will stop by every time we are. Whoever hired these folks - great job!!!!

Visiting from out of town and it did not disappoint. I ordered the brisket plate. It just melted in my mouth and I was hooked. Memories of my years in Katy flooded back to me. I’ll be visiting again soon.

Literally THE BEST barbecue I have had since I moved to TX 11 years ago. I can’t believe I was bypassing this place, I was definitely missing out. The meat is so moist, all of them. I tried a number of different items and everything hit like it was supposed to. Extremely flavorful and decadent from the main entree, to the sides and even the dessert. The Mac and cheese was delicious and not Kraft like most restaurants. The banana pudding, fresh and homemade! And the service…..I cannot rant enough about truly great customer service which is hard to come by these days. I wanted to show my appreciation via tip but that wasn’t even an option when cashing out. However I hope this review gives them an abundance of customers. I will definitely not be going anywhere else for my bbq! Thank you so much for being true craftsmen/women within your service and representing the epitome of what customer service really is! Everything was super quick and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Stephanie checked us out, but the whole team was top notch. The food was hot and delicious and the restaurant was clean, couldn’t ask for anything more! We will be back for sure!

The mac and cheese will have you slappin' everyone but yo' momma. I love that fried cabbage too. Pulled pork is off the chain! Brisket is good, and so far, I'm not impressed with the ribs. Staff is always cordial. Don't forget the provided ice cream cone to round out your meal while you're rubbing your belly!

I had the double barrel with brisket. I added 2 sides the extra bbq was at no charge. I tried their spicy and regular out of the two I preferred the regular. The ranch beans and the potato salad were ok . My sister had the spicy cream corn which I tried and thought it was the best side out of the 3 sides I tried. I really liked the cream corn. The double barrel is a perfectly baked potato loaded with butter,sour cream, chives, shredded cheese, and a choice of meat. It was delicious.

Ribs and sausage perfectly seasoned. Cream corn and potatoes were amazing. Probably some of the best barbecue I've had since I've been in Texas. Staff was very friendly. Resturaunt was really clean and the atmosphere was great as well.

My wife and I are regulars at our neighborhood Soulman’s. The food and service are just stellar. Josh, Cody, and Ray always keep things running like a top (with plenty of laughter). The rest of the staff are also fantastic—treating us like one of the family. I love their ribs, moist/top-cut brisket, sausage, and hot links with spicy Soulman’s barbecue sauce—but my go-to is always the Double Barrel baked potato. My wife always has their Dyn-O-Mite Special with moist/top-cut brisket (that they slice in front of you) with their original sauce. Our favorite sides are the mac-n-cheese, cole slaw, cabbage, spicy cream corn. My sister-in-law really enjoys their potato salad. I never grab a dessert (banana pudding, chess pie, or pecan pie), because I’m always so full after eating my meal—but somehow, I always seem to find room for their free soft-serve ice cream. If you haven’t checked out Soulman’s, I highly recommend it.

This is the best Soulman’s I’ve ever been to! We walked in on a Tuesday and got greeted by the sweetest manager named Tiffany. We ordered 2 2 meat plates. The brisket was cooked perfectly and cut perfectly! Our sides were *chefs kiss*. We ended our meal with banana pudding and complimentary ice cream. (Add the banana pudding on top of the ice cream, seriously life changing) Will definitely be returning for some good TX bbq!

This place is the BEST!! The creamed corn is amazing, my husband loves the ranch beans, all of the meats are incredible and cooked to perfection, the baked potatoes are huge and out of this world. The service is excellent as well.

Finally decided to try this bbq today and it did not disappoint! The workers were all polite and friendly, the line moved fast and the restaurant was very clean. We tried the pulled pork, chicken, cabbage, potato salad, mac n cheese and (homemade)fries. Everything was tasty, not a big fan of mustard potato salad but all the other sides hit the spot. Sweet tea was just right and the kids enjoyed their free ice cream cone. We will definitely be back to try the baked potato.

We had the 3 meat plate with extra sides. Very flavorful meat (though late in the day it was a little dry). The sides were each outstanding. My favs were fried cabbage, okra and baked Mac n cheese. I looooove the spicy BBQ sauce. Will definitely visit again!

Great bang for the buck. Good options. My kids love the toast and fresh cut fries. Great customer service. Josh is so pleasant and the cashiers are sweet. It would be better if we could get grilled fish or shrimp options on Friday. Also catfish is overly fried.

Went today after church service. The place is clean and organized. Staff was friendly and fast. Tried the ribs which were super delicious, well seasoned and meat came off easily from bone. Sides were delicious too. I had potato salad and coleslaw. And I had the beef brisket sandwich the meat was dry and it wasn't chopped it was put in a grinder which made it appeared chewed and spat out, was very different from what I'm used to the chopped by hand brisket. The ice cream was great too and sweet tea. I would definitely come back but try a pulled pork this time.

We had only been here once before when they first opened. The service was great, both times we came. This time, we ordered out and enjoyed our meal at home. The chicken quarters were moist and had deep flavors that were present throughout. Seriously, the meat was so flavorful! The green beans had good flavoring and were cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes and white gravy were just good enough, but no need for award winning potatoes when the chicken is boss! We got a small amount of sliced beef. It had good flavor and was super lean. Although we got our food for takeout, the restaurant looked clean. Geographically, we have lots of fast food around us, but not much quality home style cooked food. This was not a “cheap” meal, but it was not cheaply prepared either. Really good and worth the price. It’s nice to have a good home cooked meal right here near our home!

So as always I preface this by saying I'm from Kansas City. You know, Texans, where REAL BBQ is from. I've lived in Fort Worth now for going on 2 years and have been to probably a dozen BBQ joints from DFW to Austin to Houston and have honestly tasted some of the worst or at best average BBQ I've ever had. I haven't tried one single place that I'd put on par with the most average KC BBQ joint and I'm being extremely honest. Your BBQ, by and large, is pretty plain. That is, until now. Today my wife and I tried Soulman's BBQ and finally... FINALLY I've found a place that I'd recommend down here and say it was at least as good as the average KC BBQ joint. We had the chopped brisket, which was just outstanding. Very good ribs. And ham and chicken, which were both good as well. On top of that, their mashed potatoes were excellent as well... and I bring that up because mostly the sides I've had at just about every other BBQ place down here were pathetic. And I mean pathetic. Disgusting. These potatoes were just really, really good. Potato salad was good as well. Coleslaw was good. Fried Okra was good. Honestly, we didn't have one thing here that we were disappointed with. Most of what we tried was at least average to good, with the brisket being the real champ. It was excellent, as I said. Look, I make most of my own BBQ at home, which is every bit as good as anything I get going out... so it's not like I have to go out and get it. But sometimes I just want to see what's around and at last I've found a place that I'd be happy to go back to. We did take out, so we didn't eat there, but the only thing I'd really mark down was that the place looked a little dated, but it's the taste that matters the most, so that's just a little thing. If you haven't tried Soulman's, you're missing out.

Decent BBQ spot. It's a pic your poison type joint. I got a two meat plate with sides. The sausage was good but the brisket was a little dry. The original bbq sauce was pretty good. Place was packed though 20 minutes waiting in line to order. It's a good sign. I'll go back.

We have been waiting for this place to open. We came in around 2 pm and there was a long line. We waited about 15 min, maybe more, to order. I got the half rack of rib plate and my wife got the chopped brisket sandwich plate (whatever they call it, each plate has a name). Her sides were cabbage and spicy beans. She liked the cabbage but thought the beans were mediocre. I thought my ribs were good but not awesome. I've had better and worse. My favorite side is usually okra but this okra wasnt good. You can see the shiny crust of grease as soon as I got my plate. The mashed potatoes were good but they needed to drain the okra more. The staff was very friendly and it was a nice dining area, small but nice. I will give them another try down the line.

The ice cream machine always seems to be broken when we go there. The condiment area was a mess. The pickles were in the Jalapeños and the onions in bother the pickles and jalapenos... Gross. Other then that, everything was great!

I agree with Estella that left a review 6 days ago! Today around 445 pm was DISAPPOINTING! Second time here, first time was pretty good. The brisket was SO meh. The sides were just awful looking at the counter. Old and been there awhile. Mac n cheese looked cremated. The Okra looked like it was made at 11 am, the fries were old, the beans were dried out, the staff was sloooooooow and seemed irritated. I saw the guy at the “meat station” berate a woman for waiting in line for JUST an order of fries. Sheesh, just not good today. Not good.

Really use to love going to your restaurant. Ribs were great, Chicken and sausage were awesome and Brisket was good. Not sure if it was these trying times that you changed vendor's where you get your meat, but ribs are thinner (less meat). Chicken pieces are smaller and to top that off your portions on brisket and sausage have shrunk. Don't really want any coupons or anything like that from you, just thought you should know this. When you make changes like this, people notice. Use to be a real enjoyment to go to your restaurant the past 2 years. I wish you you best of luck with the changes you've made.

My husband and I stopped here after a long day of being out and about. Never have eaten here but he was craving some bbq. We got the chuck wagon. We asked for half pound of brisket and half pound sausage 2 sides Mac n cheese and coleslaw we also got a small banana pudding. I have to be completely honest the food was not great. Brisket has zero flavor as well as the coleslaw. Sausage was well sausage. Although the food wasn’t the best the customer service was amazing. Oh the Mac n cheese was definitely amazing. A

Had the brisket topped baked potato with all the fixings at Sycamore Rd location. 3 stars. A little stingy with the cheese and sour cream for a $13 potato. Brisket had no flavor without the sauce. Its more of an $8 Texas Tater.

This BBQ restaurant is two block away. An easy stroll from my house. I've eaten there several times. The ribs ala carte were good. I didn't want to spend $5 more on two tiny scoops of sides. I've had their sandwich. A big disappointment. The soft-serve ice cream is good. My wife and I love it. FYI: I've lived in Lockhart, Texas. The BBQ capital of the Lone Star state. Much better and cheaper food there. Luling has great Q too. Smithville back in the 90s, had mutton BBQ. Hella greasy, but super tasty. Sometimes I call and they don't answer or hang up quickly before answering. That's when I go somewhere else. Just say'n.

Ordered the 3 meat plate w/double ribs and brisket. Sides were Mac n cheese, fried okra and banana pudding. We got 3 ribs, but I think there should’ve been 4 ribs since this was double ribs. They were a bit too salty for my taste. The marbled brisket was cooked perfectly, not too much fat and tender. However, the brisket was flavorless. The fried okra was perfect. The Mac n cheese was okay, very thick. Banana pudding was meh, but not terrible. They didn’t put the Texas toast in the box. The bbq sauce was good, it made the ribs and brisket taste way better. Overall, this was reasonably priced but it wouldn’t be the first place I think of when we want bbq.

Ordered online thanksgiving catering, was so disappointed that the turkey was DRY, the cream corn was not what I expected. The only thing that was good was the ham. My (guests)family and friends were so disappointed that the family meal did not come out good. I will not be ordering a family catering here again.$290 on a family meal that was wasted.

Got my food to go the other night ordered the sliced brisket sandwich with coleslaw, cowboy beans, green beans and my husband got the rib plate with okra and green beans. Unfortunately I was really disappointed especially since I had been craving bbq the sliced brisket was just bland sadly and the green beans no seasoning straight of the can flavor and juice and the okra was ok but to be fair I got the last of what they had the Texas beans needed more flavor very watery bland just disappointing BUT the Cole slaw was good but that was it. Staff was nice but food was definitely not worth what we paid.

Bland, dry, and too thin brisket. Stale bread. Undercooked and over salted fires (even after telling she was making some fresh). No tea. Bland Mac n cheese that was sitting in the heat lamp way too long. The 2 ribs were small and overpriced. The hot links were sitting in the hot case long enough the casing was hard to chew.

The most UNSEASONED food I've had in a while...highly disappointed. I got sausage, Mac and cheese, and greenbeans. I warned my mom that it would be seasonless and overpriced but she did not listen. I highly doubt I'll give them another chance.

Picked up a plate of brisket to go. When I got home I realized that half the brisket was fat/grease. Been many times and this time it was ridiculous on how much fat the brisket had. I understand that it always has some, but this time it was more fat than meat. See the photo below.

We finally decided to give Soulman’s a try and placed a take out order this evening, just to be disappointed in the service. Placing the order online was easy, but when my husband arrived to pick up our order they started off picking up the wrong ticket, then we had to make a second trip to the restaurant because we didn’t receive our entire order. We finally sit down to eat and neither my order nor my husbands order has barbecue sauce on it like they are supposed to and there was no sauce on the side in the sauce bag. For our first visit definitely not a good impression.

My second time experience was very distasteful. It was like a horror movie. Got home and the paper bag burst because of the meat’s oil in foil instead of a container. Someone tried to solicit us in the store. We spent over one hundred dollars and received no utensils. All the items aren’t listed below. Yeah not going back.

We stopped by for BBQ, but everything was bland—there was no seasoning at all. The best part was the barbecue sauce. Unfortunately, it seemed like they didn’t smoke any of the meat; it appeared to be pre-cooked in the oven. I didn’t taste any flavor at all, which was very disappointing, especially since we were really hungry and eager for some good barbecue.

First and last time coming here. Ordered, cabbage, brisket, mashed potatoes & turkey. The cabbage tasted like pepper, the brisket had no flavor even with the BBQ sauce, it still tasted bland. Mashed potatoes were instant & tasted flaky. The turkey was the only thing that wasn't terrible, and it was the only thing that I finished. Everything else was thrown in the trash. Needless to say, it was a waste of $20.

Hello, Now correct me if im wrong but I believe that How and what Foods you open with you should Finish the Night with the same including the Monthly Special. Now how come when we went last night (02/23/26) at 8:15pm there was NO potatoes (Monthly Special) and NO Ribs!!! They only had 1 brisket 1/4 of pull pork 1/4 of ham.!!!! That's not fair to the Customer's who work late(like Poll worker's)!!! Just Sad how a BBQ place Don't have Ribs of all things!!!!

Sorriest I bar blue I ever had. Ribs was dried out and brisket was all fat. Cousins is closed on Sunday’s that’s the only reason I ordered from there. Never again 🤮

I was expecting to receive a decent amount of food with the 2 meat plate my first time here I spent $30 on and felt as if I hadn't eaten anything so had to get something else after food good portions for the money very disappointing

Just ordered bbq for door dash. No meat on ribs and the brisket had so much fat all throughout (not just on sides) we threw it away. The okra was burned to a crisp and inedible. Super unfortunate as we frequent the Royse city location we had high hopes for this new one.

Very small portions, looks like a kids plate. Brisket is very thinly sliced but good. Sausage is good, ribs were hard and dry. Frontier fries are not good. Very poorly made.

Well if there’s one thing I can say about Soulman’s BBQ no matter which city I try it in (with the exception of the Van, TX location) they consistently disappoint me. I got the 3 meat plate which is my go to. Ribs, brisket and sausage. Now the sausage is the only thing that’s always good. But cutting the brisket thin like deli meat is outright criminal. Like cmon man! I know I’m not gonna get a 1 inch thick cut of brisket. Don’t even get me started on the ribs. Dry and crunchy. In all I wound up paying $29 for 3 meats, 2 sides, a small banana pudding and medium sweet tea. Not necessarily a good bang for your buck. But y’all aren’t stingy with your meats. We know that’s a lie!
