We finally tried sailor Jack's for the first time! We've been visiting Benicia for a while now and have mostly tried almost all of their restaurants, but this. Their seafood selection on their menu is quite appealing as per their namesake. I went fish and chips while my wife ordered their burger, and we shared a bowl of clam chowder. Their clam chowder was a little too thick for me, but the flavor is there, with nice chunks of potato and generous portions of clams. The batter for the fish was nice, light and airy. Not greasy at all. The fries were nice and crisp, with a nice crunchy but not heavy mouth feel in every bite. My wife was a little disappointed with her burger, though. The burger was well seasoned, but the cook was a little over, and it dried up the patty. Plus, the bread is crumbling all over, and it didn't hold well with all the fixings. But over-all, our experience was good. A good start.

The food is just amazing they never seem to disappoint. The atmosphere is nice and old school and the workers go out of their ways to serve you. Right on the water full bar upstairs worth checking out.

We like this restaurant. Great view and classic but romantic place. My husband asked the server’ favorite and ordered salmon pasta. If you like salmon, it is good. My order was fish and chips and it was good! But I did not like coleslaw, sorry! Anyway I will try other meal next time. We will be back.

Have been wanting to try out this place and we enjoyed it. We love seafood! We had the mixed oysters. We wish we knew the different kinds we ordered as our server didn't know as well. My daughter had the crab Benedict & said she wanted her eggs on top runny. It was served dry. Food servings was quite generous. We just also wish that the server had informed us that they were huge servings so we could've shared our orders. We love the crab melt sandwich! I'd order it again when we go back. Hopefully we'd get a more knowledgeable server next time. But overall, we enjoyed the place especially the outdoor seating with our dog.

Stopped here for lunch with a large group of friends. We got a table out by the water. The weather was warm so it was a good day to be on the bay. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was friendly but slow and a few details got mixed up. My one complaint is they weren't able to do separate checks, so we had to do a lot of math, pass money around then someone ultimately put in on their card.

Water front seafood restaurant that has popular fish and chips and diner food. My boss likes to have lunch here and he likes their sole fish. I have tried a number of their sandwiches- crab melt, BLT, eggplant. I usually opt for a salad instead of fries. It’s pretty busy around lunch time with great service and a beautiful view of the water. Parking can be difficult, there is a lot and street parking.

I come here regularly and food is delicious and service is good, But tonight I have to complain that 3 of the glasses I received had lipstick marks on the glass. It shows that things aren’t being properly cleaned or being checked up on. To me this is disgusting and if you would like me to return I suggest training your team how to properly polish glasses.

We ordered clam chowder to go since we usually love their clam chowder. It's been our main reason for going there since it used to be very flavorful and unique. This time it was incredibly bland and no better than canned soup. What happened? Did you change your recipe? There was no flavor. It lacked seasoning (salt, rosemary, etc) and also lacked veggies. The clams were very tough. And the portion size was smaller than before. It used to be so good! Super disappointed. If this is a permanent change to the recipe, we won't be back.

My husband and I had dinner at Sailor Jack’s after reading the menu on the internet. Everything sounded good. Their version of traditional foods didn’t meet the mark at times. I had the prawn cocktail, which was tasty. The prawns were cooked well and the texture was good. The cocktail sauce was thick like a chunky salsa. It tasted good but didn’t have the taste or texture of a traditional cocktail sauce. The caesar salad itself was good, although basic, but the caesar dressing didn’t taste very good. A bit off putting. I ordered the salmon and I asked for less oil/butter and to steam/boil the green beans. They had to redo for me and my husband was left eating alone. There was no condiments on the table for seasoning and the table cloth was so wrinkled that the crease in the middle of the table cloth made our plates sit a bit lopsided. My husband got the pecan pie for dessert. We both stared at it in disbelief. The crust was flaccid, thin and pale looking. The pie was hot, something you don’t do with pecan pie. It didn’t taste good either. We won’t be back.

Food is pretty good but the service is HORRIBLE. First, we wanted to sit by the water but were told there was no room so we were placed alone on a small deck. Then we saw other people sat group by group in the empty tables along the water. I had the special which was Mexican sea bass over risotto and the flavor was great. The kids loved their food. My fiance had the calamari and clam chowder. The clam chowder is really good and the calamari is ok. The service is terrible terrible terrible. It takes them forever to bring everything. We were 4 people with 2 kids. The adults food came in a reasonable amount of time but the kids food took FOREVER. They came out and said the kitchen was backed up. Why didn't they make all of our food together? 30 minutes after our food came, the kids food still finally came and our food was cold so we couldn't essentially eat our food hot together. The waitress was empathetic but the kitchen has no idea what they're doing. Although they comped the kids plates for the wait and brought them ice cream, I overall wouldn't recommend this place. It's not worth the wait.
