BIG bang for your buck. Sushi was so fresh like straight from the sea. Owners were this cute old Japanese couple who didn't really speak English. While we were eating they came over and gave us free sesame balls too! So sweet. I got the special sushi combo of the day, and it was DELICIOUS. We were so full by the end in the best way possible. Will definitely be back.

I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the sushi here. When you look at the location from the outside, it seems shabby and unassuming, but this may be the best quality cuts of raw fish I’ve had in Berkeley right behind Iyasare. This spot is NOT a dine-in restaurant, it is designed to be a pick-up and go shop with the exception of a few small tables for made-to-order sushi which I’ve mostly seen folks stop in for their lunch hour. You will also see high school and college students come in after class. I’ve picked up about 5 different orders and each one had thick slices of fresh, quality fish. I hope the quality always stays the same! Definitely give it a shot!

I sat down to eat my poke, and a few minutes into my meal, the owner(?) put a little cup of chili oil and one with nuts on the table. Very sweet (the owner, not the food). There are two tables by the window, very cozy and inviting. Wish I took a photo since the others don’t do it justice. Will come again when I’m craving a low-key sushi outing :) Update: I came back another day! Thought it closed at 7 so I literally RAN here lol. Late for the bus? Nope. Just craving Sun Sun Sushi.

Sun Sun Sushi is an amazing spot in Berkeley! The sushi is fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend the signature rolls and the chirashi bowl. Great quality and great prices—definitely my new go-to sushi place!

The sushi was fresh and really tasty and the owners (older Japanese couple) were very sweet! Fantastic value - I got the sushi special, which was $15 (plus $2.50 for edamame) and a LOT of food, including tasty tuna and salmon rolls and salmon sashimi! I also appreciate that there are a few tables inside, even though the sushi is all grab and go from the fridge. Will definitely be back.

Fresh sushi and super convenient! Sun Sun Sushi is such a hidden gem right across from the gas station and just steps from Trader Joe’s. I stopped by one day after class and was seriously impressed. The seared nigiri literally melts in your mouth, and the crunchy rolls are packed with flavor and texture. They also have hot food and Japanese snacks, which is perfect if you’re in a rush or just want something filling. It’s clean, affordable, and great for a quick lunch between classes or a casual sushi craving. Definitely recommend if you’re a student or live nearby!

Place doesn't have a/c which is the only downside to the venue. Very unassuming location but the staff are very nice and generous; they've given me free sesame balls each time I come. Consider me a regular 🥰

Amazing sushi at an affordable price. Very fresh and quality fish served here. I don't know how they price it so reasonable in the bay area but take advantage while you can. My new go to place when I'm craving sushi or sashimi. (Already been here 3 times in the last week, it's just that good)

And if they don’t have what you want in the premade section you can request an order and they’ll make it. Love dropping in here for a quick sushi grab.
