This was a neat little place we stumbled upon. The food was excellent 👌. If you are thinking of going to a chain, you might as well choose this local place instead. The food was much better than any chain at a similar price. Our group had burgers and a appetizer with a variety. The burgers were juicy but not greasy with many different options. Definitely try the seasoned fries. The variety appetizer was also a great size for a 4 person share. Their drinks were excellent and they didn't skimp. The waitress (sorry I'm horrible with names), was so nice and attentive with a spunky personality. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time. 👍 To the rubber duck claw machine. We won one for the Jeep owner in our group. Oh and the bathrooms were super clean. If the bathrooms aren't well maintained, it makes me question the kitchen situation. Great place!

My friend and I were looking for a casual dining experience and was recommended this place by our hotel staff. With a cool, kooky, sports-bar meets '60 sci-fi/goth ambience, the service was spot on and FAST (early Thursday evening) for both drinks and food. Both servings were more than enough in presentation and quantity, making them satisfying value. We'll be back. 👍😎👍

Had an amazing date here. The food is PHENOMENAL, the service is top notch, and the cleanliness is through the roof! So many great and fresh menu options. We had the hummus appetizer, you've got to try it! And the lemonade was definitely freshly squeezed 🌹

If you're thinking about good food downtown, BMB&G is perfect. Good food. Great service! Outdoor seating if you want to bring your dog. They even provided a water bowl for my dog! So sweet. Amazing food! Loved every bite.

Funky, cute, artsy place with a great menu selection and fantabulous food served up fresh in a unique atmosphere that will leave you wishing and hoping you get to come back for more. I had the pancakes and omelette and it was more than enough food that satisfied my tastebuds and kept me full for a long while on my way to the beach. Definitely a great spot to try out if you’re in the area. I wasn’t disappointed, in fact I was very happy.

I normally don’t write bad reviews, but I felt like this one needed to be written. This has nothing to do with our server, he was a nice guy and did a good job. I ordered a cheese burger with pickles only. That’s it, nothing fancy. We were munching on appetizers, which were really good. They bring the food out. Everyone got their food but me. So the server goes back to get mine, and I believe he brought me someone else’s food. I told him that wasn’t what I ordered, so he asks me what I ordered. I told him but I said, don’t worry about it, if they didn’t make it, no big deal I am full from the apps. Well, he goes and orders it. They bring out the wrong thing again and I told him please just cancel my order I am full. They come out again, this time it was right. I told him that I had asked him to cancel the order. So he leaves and comes back. He says, I asked my manager to adjust your ticket, but he said since you ordered it you will have to pay for it even if you don’t eat it. The manager didn’t even have the decency to come out and talk to us. This isn’t about the place itself or the servers, this is just about the manager. Had he come to talk to us, we could have told him exactly what happened and that we had asked them 3 times not to re-order it, just to cancel. So be prepared if they bring you the wrong meal, if you don’t eat it you will still have to pay for it. I will say, I did take a bit of my husbands burger. It was meh. Go to Saw’s kitchen next door. Now that is how a burger should be cooked. And they will get your order right the first time.

The location is awesome, walking in the building is nice, the atmosphere and decor inside were interesting. Absolutely love the vibe. We sat ourselves at a high bar table since there was only two of us. We tried the Greek egg rolls for a starter, And OMG, they are delicious, it's like spinach-artichoke dip in an egg roll. Amazing. It went down hill after this. After some time our waitress came and explained she didn't fully submit our order,but she did now and it would be out as quickly as possible... When she brought the food I had to place the appetizer in my lap, as the table was small. And she was just going to let that be ok, so we asked for a box, she brought it and still left the try from the appetizer, so in my lap it went. I ordered Feta erra quesdilla and sweet potato fries.. it was dripping and soggy.. I thought maybe it was mushrooms or beans.. but I saw neither, the taste wasn't it, very salty. The fries were not bad, just fries. My wife ordered the smash mouth tacos and regular fries.. the regular fries were pretty good, the taco.. Nothing really special, I wasn't fond of the sauce, but my wife didn't mind it. We watched our waitress go past us numerous times before we finally had to stop her to ask for our check and a to go box. And we watched as quickly as she walked away, she forgot. The restaurant is an awesome vibe, a few other waitresses actually talked to us and joked and even suggested the egg rolls, so the staff is nice.. but for whatever reason this was not our day. I say give them a try and maybe you'll enjoy it.

OK, where to begin, first and foremost, I had heard about this place by a bunch of people. We have seen it several times as we go to concerts at Avondale Brewery. The Atmosphere suggested this was going to be a dinning experience not just from a Vibe perspective, but also a culinary adventure. As a chef myself, I look forward to new taste and find myself longing for a new take on certain meals. Even though this place was highly recommended, I'm afraid my personal experience was not what I had been told to expect. First red flag, our server while prompt to take our drink orders, seemingly lost interest shortly after. We did get our non alcohol drinks fairly quickly, but the bar drinks were brought out later and not at the same time, which would have been fine, if that was only related to the drinks. I ordered the Sampler type APP so I could try a variety of things on the menu all at one go. The pita chips were incredibly salty, but the hummus was great, the cheese sticks had more cheese out of them than in them pointing to over cooking, the onion rings were good, the pork empanada was pretty good, and the odd chicken egg roll was fairly good, but the chips and queso seemed to be basic, and eh. all around I give this app a 3.5 of 5, being saved by variety, but the overly salty pita kind of killed it. Due to realizing our server hadn't returned for some time and knowing we were on a time crunch, I had to go inside and find her, I explained we would need to order the remaining items to-go because I needed to be back to our venue for a show I was producing. ( This is on me, and I explained that to her, letting her know I'm just running short on time. and they aren't exactly busy at this point) She comes out, we have to explain how to cut up the checks (there were two of us paying) and we ordered.... we request her bring the checks back out so we could go ahead and pay, and that way we would only be waiting on the food.. Still this is on me because I understand I am changing the parameters. I ordered the BBQ burger Med Rare, with sweet potato fries My friend orders some nacho thing, and a pimento burger, with a cheese cake egg roll thing as a desert... all to go. We ate our app, and finished our drinks, its been 20 minutes and still no server.. I walked back inside, and finally found her, she had just got our tickets printed so we could pay. I could clearly see two to go bags waiting in the hot window, and while assuming they were ours (Which they were) had to get the bartenders help to even get my food. Our serve seemed "somewhere else" mentally almost as if she forgot we ordered at all. I tipped well, but realized once we got to our food I shouldn't have. My burger was very dry, mildly seasoned and way over cooked. I ended up tossing it in the trash, the sweet potato fries weren't bad, though I imagine fresh and on a plate would be far better than getting soggy in a to go container... that is on me. My friends had about the same reaction as I did on their food, with the exception of the cheese cake thing they got, they seem to have loved that. All in all, I am very unhappy knowing the money I spent verse the food I got, they are reasonably priced, but I could have spent that same 15 bucks on a far better burger. Not sure if I will be back, this one left a sore spot with me.

Horrible service. We arrived, sat ourselves (as is their policy) and waited, and waited, and waited for someone to at acknowledge our presence. It never happened. Yes, they were busy. But SEVERAL servers walked past our table. No one said anything. Not a single word. 15 minutes later we got up to leave. My bf went to the bar to tell the bartender that we were ignored. As he was having this conversation with the bartender, the bartender LITERALLY WALKED AWAY!!! Totally dismissive of us. My bf let it be known that their service sucks! One of the workers overheard the conversation my bf was trying to have with the bartender and LITERALLY FOLLOWED US OUTSIDE as we went to our car!!! He was talking to either another worker or a friend repeating what my bf said about the service sucking. It was said very loudly in order for us to hear it. We responded and confirmed yes the service sucked. The worker proceeds to tell us that we were not sitting for 15 minutes! Really? Did you time it? Because we did. Why? Because we were hungry! So he basically accused us of lying. As I said, no drinks were offered, no one brought us water. We got nothing. I've been to Black Market previously. But I WILL NEVER BE BACK. To be ignored is one thing but to be harassed is absolutely ridiculous! There are much better restaurants in the Avondale area. Black Market is HORRIBLE!!

I normally don’t leave negative reviews, but what my family experienced today at Black Market in Avondale was unacceptable. We waited nearly two hours for our food while watching multiple groups that arrived after us receive drinks, service, and meals before we did. We stayed patient and respectful because we understand restaurants can get busy. After waiting that long we finally asked about our order, and instead of receiving help or even a simple apology, the server and bartender spoke to us very rudely and told us they were understaffed and that we should just understand. The conversation ended with us basically being told that if we didn’t like it we could leave. What made the experience even worse was watching other guests, particularly white customers who came in after us, receive service and food while we continued to sit there waiting with no communication at all. From what I counted there were about 3 bartenders, 4 servers, and around 30–35 people in the restaurant. That does not explain a two hour wait with zero updates and disrespectful treatment when we asked about it. Customer service should never make people feel ignored or dismissed, especially when they’ve been patient and simply want to enjoy a meal with their family. I truly hope management takes this seriously and addresses how situations like this are handled, because no customer should feel the way we did today.

Literally 0 stars. Came at 12 Am on a Friday night, a drunk staff member then barred me from the door slurring “we’re closed”…. I ignored her and went to my car and called the store where a staff member did confirm they closed 2 hours early and that their hours have changed and sometimes they even close at 12:30…. It’s not even 12:10…. if you want to be disappointed on not one but multiple occasions visit this establishment. We literally went to this one because, when we went to the one on our side of town earlier this year, it was ALSO closed early…

The food is great I will give them that but the service was the worst I have ever had being a server myself for 5 years. Literally ignored me after my initial drink and then double charged a friend of mine because there was ice in the glass. Told him they pour 2 oz shots when it's over ice which is illegal in Alabama automatic gratuity added absolute terrible service. The amount of attitude and lack of knowledge of Alabama alcohol law will surely not help them since I recorded it

Placed a to go order for a turkey club and it was the most disgusting sandwich ever . The onions were gigantic, it was dry , no cheese, no bacon and the turkey was as thick as meatloaf . I called and the manager basically told me too bad and offered nothing in the place of it . Customer service is a 0 , food is very inconsistent. I tried to support the new location , even purchased lunch for my entire staff but this was a deal breaker for me . Won’t be returning ! Spent 25.00 for nothing !
