We went for my birthday at the recommendation of my daughter, and had a lovely dinner. For appetizers, we ordered the tuna crudo and tomato and garlic loaf, both delicious and fresh. For entrees, I had the Berkshire pork chop, my husband had the seafood cannelloni, and we shared the honey sriracha Brussels sprouts. My husband isn’t a huge fan of Brussels sprouts, but he thought these were the best he ever had. Both entrees were perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. For dessert, we shared the Italian lemon cakes, which was light enough for the conclusion of a big meal. A big shout out to our server Mike and his team. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and we never felt rushed. I highly recommend Tallulah!

Tallulah is an absolute gem! We come here every month and everytime the experience gets better & better! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the service was truly exceptional. Our waiter, Brandon, made the entire experience amazing. He was attentive, friendly, and gave the best recommendations that we loved. We left so happy and satisfied—can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend Tallulah, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Brandon as your server!

Loved our dinner at Tallulah Wine Bar & Bistro! The octopus with whipped ricotta and the rigatoni in creamy tomato sauce were both outstanding — honestly too good to pick a favorite. The patio has such a charming vibe, and our server Jaden was amazing: knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Bonus points for being super dog-friendly! With the new chef’s touches, Tallulah is better than ever.

A Night to Remember at Tallula Tallula is truly a gem in Birmingham! From the moment we walked in, everything was absolutely perfect. The food was beyond amazing, each dish crafted with care, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The customer service was outstanding, with a team that made us feel so welcomed and taken care of. And the atmosphere? Simply stunning warm, elegant, and the perfect place to celebrate. I was so happy to celebrate my birthday with my friends in such an incredible setting. Every meal we had was special from the way it looked to the way it tasted. The drinks and wine were exceptional, truly the cherry on top of an already perfect evening. And then, the management surprised us with a breathtaking cake display a moment I will never forget! Thank you, Tallula, for making my birthday so memorable. I wish you all the success, and I will never stop coming back or recommending you to everyone I know. My entire party was beyond happy it was simply the best experience ever! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely dining experience with phenomenal service, a very creative bartender, and exquisite cuisine. I added photos from a couple visits including tonight’s. Our waiter, Scott, was very knowledgeable about the menu and assisted my guests and I in a friendly manner. I am never disappointed by the service here. I’ve had a few items, including the Cacio e Pepe, the lamb ragu papperdale, and I’m not sure what the name is of the meal I had tonight, but it was angel hair pasta with red sauce and I substituted chicken for the shrimp. All of which I recommend! Very delectable entrées, my guests also had nothing but good things to say. The atmosphere is very small and intimate, however, it is also very elegant and and well lit, especially during the evening. A staple for Birmingham, it’s been around for quite some time, and I highly recommend it for multiple variants of food.

Nestled in the heart of Birmingham, Michigan, Tallulah Wine Bar & Bistro is a haven for gastronomes and wine lovers. With its chic and inviting decor, it's no wonder that it's ranked among the top restaurants in the country, including the Top 100 Best Restaurants in USA/Opentable & Forbes 2019, HOUR Detroit 2022, and Top 3 Best Restaurants in Oakland County. Highly recommended by a colleague, my husband and I finally made it there, and we were not disappointed. As we arrived early for our reservation, we were still promptly seated by the friendly staff, who made us feel welcome from the outset. The interior décor was a perfect balance of rustic and chic, with natural lighting that created an ambiance that was both welcoming and sophisticated. Our waiter Scott was a standout, with his impressive knowledge of the menu and ability to make recommendations based on our personal preferences. As he went over the cocktail menu, he recommended their Espresso Martini, which I couldn't resist. As an Espresso Martini aficionado, I know the good ones from the "meh" ones, and I can confidently say that Tallulah's version with tequila was a game changer. The tequila perfectly complemented the essence of the espresso, resulting in a beautifully balanced and flavorful drink. For appetizers, we ordered the Fetta Frito and Nueske's Bacon. The Fetta Frito was elegantly packaged in filo dough, topped with a tomato jam and green olive mousse, and bursting with flavor. The Nueske's Bacon was a showstopper. The thick applewood-smoked bacon was topped with a flavorful escabeche of pickled vegetables, adding a nice acidic contrast to the rich bacon. For my main course, I had the Prawn Mushroom Risotto. It was a perfectly balanced dish with arborio rice, mushroom, truffle goat cheese, and chili prawns. The truffle flavor was not overpowering. The creamy arborio rice was cooked al dente, and the truffle goat cheese added a nutty, earthy flavor that complemented the chili prawns. For dessert, we decided to share the Tiramisu. It was presented in a stemless wine glass, with layers of ladyfingers, bailey espresso, mascarpone, vanilla crumble, and cocoa powder. The presentation was elegant and the flavors were perfectly balanced, with the bitterness of the espresso and cocoa powder cutting through the richness of the mascarpone. The entirety of their staff is sensational. From Scott's extensive knowledge of the menu to Mario Camaj's managing prowess, and Christian's attentive service, everyone was top-notch. Overall, Tallulah Wine Bar & Bistro exceeded our expectations with its impeccable service, exceptional food, and inviting ambiance. It's a definite must-visit for any food lover who appreciates a great dining experience.

One of my favorite restaurants, absolutely amazing food and great service. They will take care of you and every meal you receive the manager will come and check if everything is ok. Dining outdoors is difficult because is the low temperature but this place is more than worth it.

Everything was amazing, though I'll sit outside next time. It's a bit too loud inside for me.

Very classy dining experience. This is definitely an impressive place for either after work drinks or a romantic evening dinner. I have enjoyed my experience at the bar, regular table seating or the patio. The dishes and drinks are part of the experience as well. The cost is a bit higher than regular dining but it is worth it for the occasional splurge. Definitely a special place to go.

Only my second time in Michigan; and this restaurant makes me want to take a summer trip back down here. Everything was 10/10, the server was knowledge and welcoming, and the manager Albert was a gentleman. Highly recommend this place!

Food and service were first rate. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the burrata salad delightful. Extensive, well curated wine list and fun craft cocktails. A touch crowded—and a bit noisy with the close tables.

Classy. Great food. Great service. Unassuming. We really enjoyed the Octopus appetizer and split the pork belly as add a second appetizer. The scallops were cooked perfectly, although we thought it could have used a better sauce. The desserts were good, but it did not wow us. It was a great meal after a long flight!

Michael our waiter was excellent with just the right amount of attention and service. It was great to see how the whole team worked together to make our experience excellent. Definitely recommend!

Had a fantastic evening. The ambiance was lovely, the table we had was one of those corner booths, super romantic being able to have space and still sit near your date. As for the food. Hot dang! We had a few appetizers the burrata and the sardines were most memorable. You must have both. Had Branzino for dinner. Also fantastic. It was some how both rich and refreshing. I think because it's seafood but the crispness of the skin made it just a little special! Finished with Lavendar creme brulee, my date ate almost ALL of it when I wasn't looking apparently! Also shout out to our server George (I think? I'm terrible with names). He was a lot of fun and made fantastic recommendations on the menu! Thanks for everything we had an incredible time!

One of my favorite restaurants in the US. I travel extensively and have dined all over the world. This is right there at the top of my list. The food is extraordinary. The owner Mario is a wonderful host and he has an impeccable staff. Highest recommendation possible

Great place to go for a nice, more upscale dinner. Great food, drinks, atmosphere and fantastic service! Tallulah has a beautiful patio deck, nicely decorated with flowers and umbrellas for shade. It's on a more secluded street in Birmingham, so you're not constantly seeing passing cars but you're close enough to the park to enjoy the ambience and any live music happening. I called ahead to see if there were any tables available outside and the hostess was super helpful! She was so pleasant on the phone and in person, that I instantly knew it was going to be a good experience. The patio is first come first serve, but she offered to place a reservation inside and if there's a table that opens when we arrive we can sit there. When we got there a table just cashed out so she offered us the option to sit at the bar and grab a drink while we wait. The bartender was also super helpful and friendly, and I highly suggest trying their cocktail the New Fashion, a very well balanced Old Fashioned drink. When we sat at our table, everything was nicely set and plated. The servers and our waiter again provided great service! He didn't rush us and was very attentive to our dinner, without constantly checking up on us. I highly suggest ordering a bottle of wine from there, as they have a very good, extensive wine list. The food we ordered was very good, their specials are always a good option, and you can't go wrong with the duck breast.

I enjoy coming to Tallulah's for a glass of wine with my friends on a frequent basis. Sometimes we have appetizers and drinks. We normally sit at the bar and enjoy after work conversation. The bartender that normally waits on us is Chelsea Suggs. She is fantastic, is very efficient and pleasant. She engages with us in conversation often.

I recently dined at Tallulah with my family, and the service, food, and atmosphere are truly exceptional. Our server, Heather, was outstanding—professional, kind, and attentive throughout the evening. She knew the menu inside and out and made excellent food and beverage recommendations. She truly made the experience warm and memorable for the entire party. We’ll be heading back to see her—and have the lemon cake—soon!

First time at Tallulah and had a great experience. Food was great. We got the village salad, scallops and the Bolognese special. Our server went above and beyond to make sure we felt taken care of. Would recommend.

Delicious food, service and atmosphere!! The owner Mario took great care of us the whole meal and surprised me with a dessert on the house for my birthday! Our waiter was also so amazing, I forget his name but he also went above and beyond and made that a night to remember. Everyone was so kind and caring about our experience, the food, and making sure the atmosphere is fun, relaxed and overall a great time! Would go back in a heartbeat! Thank you Mario and to your amazing staff!

Really great food, great service, cozy and classy atmosphere and they let us stay and basically close the place down without once applying any pressure for us to leave. Love this place.

Went here for the first time last week. I tried octopus for the first time. It was pretty good. The waitress was fantastic. I wish I remembered her name. We were there Wednesday around 6pm. If her manager ever sees this post please note how great she is. I was debating between the pasta and steak. She convinced me to get the pasta which I was taken back by. Not many servers would take a $20 hit on the bill to recommend a cheaper dish. However, that gesture stuck with me and we ended up trying more apps and drinks because we felt like valued customers. I think that is the first time any server has ever done that. I will 100% be returning and I hope I get her again. The service was excellent by the staff. Three different people greeted us or filled our waters, cleared the table etc. espresso martini was fantastic.

Was pleasantly surprised by the food and service. I had pretty low expectations due to multiple weird experiences with their hostesses in past years who were unfriendly and unaccommodating. Service was amazing- we had Trey and Mike. The manager came by a few times to ask how everything was and if the sun was too bright since we were by the window, which was nice. We tried the watermelon salad special, feta phyllo, spicy rigatoni, lemon cake and strawberry cheesecake. Everything was good. I will definitely return try the cacio e Pepe next time. I definitely recommend making a reservation. Every time I’ve tried to walk in they say it’s fully booked despite there being multiple tables. Atmosphere was lively - could probably use a design update IMO but nothing crazy.

4.33/5 Food was delicious. I was excited coming in because I saw that lamb pappardelle was on the menu as it's easily a top 5 recipe for me. Tallulah knocked it out of the park between how obvious it is that the pasta's made from scratch, the tenderness of the lamb, and then the flavor of the sauce was simply spectacular. Everybody enjoyed the beet salad and burrata that we started with as well. Service was good throughout our courses, but we did feel that we were being rushed out towards the end.

Tallulah was a high-end dining experience set in a cramped New York restaurant complete with a celebrity sighting. Everything was delish made even better by the service. We had the Brussels Sprouts appetizer, the peanuts elevated this dish. Also, the mushroom ravioli, Amish chicken, and linguini with chicken was awesome. Side note, I ordered the parsnip soup. I have never had parsnips before. It was prepared well, creamy. I did not enjoy it. It was too new for me.

Best upscale happy hour! We came for happy hour and it was great. The charcuterie board was delicious and well thought. I cannot overstate how great the old fashioned was for happy hour. Sat at bar and perfectly comfortable. Excellent service. Great selection all around. Will be back for dinner.

Good food and great service. The staff was very attentive and went out of their way to provide great service. This place was a little spendy... dinner for two with drinks (no appetizers or dessert) was over $100. While the food was good I feel like I've had better meals for the same money.

A decent place for some quality food--yes you won't find a truck with tomatoes sold by the ton to this bistro. The salmon is always done just right and the greek salad is fresh. The portions can be a bit sparse. The desserts are fantastic. They have a good waitstaff and the ambiance is mellow, if a little grey and loud thanks to tables being stationed too close to each other. But overall a good spot for a date night.

Food was excellent. HOWEVER one of our party had a small certified service dog. We were refused entrance inside. Attempts to explain that excluding a service dog was illegal were met with a look of TOTAL DISINTEREST. Very disappointing….

Their food never disappointed. I tried shishito peppers, branzino, shrimp, tiramusu. All top notch. The restaurant itself is very small and they try to put as many tables as possible and as a result you have no other choice as to listen to the people sitting on the near table. If the people next to you are loud your evening is definitely ruined. No private conversations. The hostesses are rude though. We went there for dinner once and were seated right in front of the door. I saw at least five other tables empty. When I asked to change the table, i was told that they are for four people parties. 10 minutes later all the tables were occupier with two people parties…..Three start review is for the rude hostesses. The waiters have been great so far.

This is very nice place, food is really good! Octopus is awesome for an American restaurant. They have a very nice of wine collection. My only concern is the cocktails, I know this is a wine bar, cocktails is not the core business, but if you offer just 5 kind of cocktails, you need to do them right and good, those 5 should be outstanding!! those were like cheep and poor quality cocktails, even sport bars have better cocktails for just half price!

C
Charles LeRoy

The appetizers were delicious. Cocktails and wine, fantastic. The NY Strip was overcooked (ordered medium rare per chef recommendation but was medium/medium-well), dry and under-salted. The Brussels Sprouts were also under-salted. Literally, the appetizers and drinks saved the food from a 2-star rating. I've had better steak at Texas Roadhouse (far better at home). The service was excellent, however.

B
B KZ

Appetizers of tuna and shrimp were good. Branzino very dry. Service started out well but deteriorated as the evening went on. Nearly an hour to get our entree after we sat down. Otherwise, enjoyed the ambience and the music.

M

The reviews are very misleading on Google. We made reservations here a month prior and were so excited to experience Tallulah! We left quite disappointed. The service was very mediocre, we felt rushed and not very relaxed at dinner. The food was just okay, it was lacking A LOT of flavor. We had to ask our server for salt on the side to be able to eat our food. The Brussel sprouts were the only dish that was good tasting. The green mussels were absolutely horrid, very oceanic tasting -NEVER order those. It was nothing special, there are much better options in Birmingham for the price you’re paying!

Do not patronize this place! It’s unfortunate that these are owners and restauranteurs that have built their business model and customer service based on their perceived “loaded” patron. Located in upscale Birmingham, MI they put lipstick on the pig and called it “pretty”. It is not! Tallulah Wine Bar & Bistro blatantly and openly disrespects certain patrons. We made a reservation in advance. On the day of I received a phone call asking about my reservation and was told “just so you know there’s an hour and a half limit, will you be done by then?” I responded saying, “I’m not sure”. To which they replied, “well, just try to be done!” I started to cancel but I wanted to see if it was just a fluke. We arrive, service was interesting, we felt rushed. However, the table next to us full of non-melanated folks were nice and comfortable, they were there before we even arrived, so the hour and a half time limit doesn’t apply to everyone. They were servicing them very nicely, they even brought over more chairs for others arriving later. Did they call and advise everyone prior to their reservation that there is an hour and a half time limit? All other reviews that have stated they felt rushed, this is true. And stated their food was “basic” or just simply “not good”, this is true. And stated they felt melanated patrons were treated differently vs. the others, this is true. Patronize this place at your own risk. I will never return and anyone that asks or even looks like they are thinking of considering this restaurant, I will tell them to spend their money at an establishment that truly cares about their customers and have a passion for what they do vs. those that only care about who they think they can make the most money off of with a lackluster menu and terrible food.

I attempted to eat at Tallulah Wine & Bistro but unfortunately my party of 3 could not be accommodated by the hostess. I was informed that it was booked with reservations. I pointed out 3 open tables and the hostess said to me that they are reserved for reservations that would be coming. Honestly we didn’t have a reservation but apparently that only made a difference for us as another party of 2, that arrived shortly after could be accommodated without a reservation. It was during the seating of that party after I spoke up did any staff member attempt to try to accommodate us. I was absolutely offended at the audacity of the staff. This is not an establishment that I would recommend. I’ll let you guess as to the amount of melanin in my party. Compared to the other party that lacked any visible signs of melanin. Is that why we couldn’t be accommodated? They were seated and served expeditiously without a reservation.

Y
Yahya Ibrahim

Overrated and overpriced. This is in a nutshell. To start.. Watered down cocktails and limited wine selection. Their choice of appetizers while appealing does not meet the expectations whether in taste or amount. I have to say that the New York strip steak was by far the worst I have had in a while. It was served with French fries. No thought put into it whatsoever. All of this for a whopping price given the location. I understand the impression and ambience they're trying to project but I would be surprised if they continued to be open in this area with such tasteless experience.

F
Fellowfriend007

I would save your money and go to another place. This manager here will waste your time. Get mad be very rude. Odd time because I was fine then I talk to him I tell you I don’t get why people would come here.
