Whiskey Creek is a popular spot in Bishop, known for its friendly service and tasty meals. The prime rib (available Fri-Sun) and steaks are highly recommended. Some Thai dishes receive mixed reviews, but overall, it's a solid dining experience.

Ate here for Valentine's Day on the way up to Mammoth. Wait time was about 45 minutes for 2 people on Saturday President's Day weekend. We ordered the Cesar salad and spinach dip to start. There was a special Valentine menu and we chose the lamb shank and the cripsy chicken cordon Bleu. Everything was so delicious. Great bread, great server and atmosphere. Only thing I'd say is I had ordered an American Mule, the ginger beer must be different than what I'm used to as it was not very flavorful but not unpleasant. I would definitely come back, maybe just with a different drink choice, or a bottle of wine.
Have stayed in bishop dozens of times for ski and hiking trips. Had never been to Whisky Creek till now and we will never eat anywhere else! The service from Lindsey was incredible and the food was perfect. The monster brownie Sundae rivals that of LA steakhouse desserts!
On 1/1/26 went inside and was seated by the waiter real fast and ordered side salad and then a Filet Mignon, veggies, and mashed potatoes and gravy. And followed by a cheesecake. Everything was amazing. Steak had flavor and cheese cake was a amazing. Also a variety of alcohol drinks as well. Thank You
Overall a solid experience here. We had the pad Thai, and chicken Rama, as well as the onion rings, whiskey creek fries, and salmon carpaccio for an appetizer. The onion rings were great. Amazing. The fries were really good, but the salmon carpaccio has way too much balsamic vinegar and I wouldn’t recommend it. The chicken rama was delicious and I would recommend it again, just ask for more peanuts or peanut sauce. The pad thai was also good but the chicken Rama was better. Our server was Kayla and she did a fantastic job with recommendations, taking care of us, and making sure that everything was to our expectations. I would definitely come here again for the Thai food at least!
What a find! Fresh, tasty meals, friendly service and great atmosphere. We had the tomato green pepper soup with Gouda and it was delicious! The Mexican salad with shrimp was amazing! Highly recommend!
After a decade of coming to bishop, I had no idea this place existed before tonight (blame the sign). We walked down main street and happened to see it... A quick google and we headed right in. We were going to just eat light to be safe but the bruschetta was mindblowing. We ordered a few more things, especially the BBQ burger and everything was incredible. We did have a little issue but i pulled the manager aside and she took care of it with grace. We will be back!
History: The Kittie Lee Inn was built in 1924 and was considered to be the height of luxury. During Hollywood’s heyday of filming movies in the High Sierra, almost all of the great stars stayed here at one time or another. Will Rogers, Randolph Scott, Hop-a-long Cassidy, Cary Grant, John Wayne, Bing Crosby, Curly Fletcher and Pat O’Brien are just a few of the names found in the old guest register. Many of the executives of the U.S. Vanadium Mine, a Tungsten Mine up Pine Creek, along with Wah Chang of the Blackrock Mine were also guests here. The Ohio Buckeye tree you see planted in the deck of the front door of the gift shop at the Whiskey Creek Restaurant was brought here in 1924 from Ohio and still bears buckeyes every fall. During World War II, the Kittie Lee dining room was closed and used as a dormitory for U.S. military pilots training at the Bishop Airport. After the war, the dining room was remodeled and reopened as the Copper Kettle Coffee Shop, which was known far and wide for its excellent food and extensive Royal Doulton Toby Jug Collection. The Kittie Lee Inn was torn down in 1965 to make way for a new dinner house known as the Carriage Room. Its Bar, Charlie’s Room, remained in operation. In 1976, Sam and Shelly Walker purchased the business from Will Whorff, son of the original owner of the Kittie Lee, and changed the name to Whiskey Creek. In 1999, the Walkers sold the business to its new owner, Greg Alexander….and a new era began.
I had the clam chowder, it was chunky and bacony which I liked. My cousin got the breaded chicken and it has a nice sauce with it. Ny teen for the Alfredo plate and it was plentiful and very savory. The sauce was lusciously and didn’t break when reheated two days later 🤭They had sold out of the prime rib by the time we got around late Saturday. No matter the steak my husband got was delicious and still bomb two days on quick sear on the pan again. I was drinking the meat, quite an experience really. I would definitely come back.
This folks know how to fix a steak 💯 the filet was perfectly spiced and charred on outside and juicy inside and the au gratin potatoes are to die for! The service I received from everyone was exceptional. Friendly fast service, and attentive. I could go on and on! five stars all the way.
We were visiting Bishop as a small family reunion trip. We had just finished a photo shoot that took wayyy longer than anticipated. We walked in 30 min before closing, a group of 12 and starving. They were also the only place still open that evening. We knew they were probably not happy to see us walk in. Understandably so, ha! However, they seated us and our server was great. He promptly took our drink orders and we decided on our food quickly as we knew the kitchen was trying to close and clean up. We all ordered something different... I had the salmon, it was cooked perfectly. The only thing is I didn't read on the menu that it was served with sweet potato chips. I wasn't a fan of that option, I thought there could've been a better option. Other than that, we all really enjoyed our food and drinks from the bar were on point delicious. Totally recommend the old fashion. The whole experience was very nice. The restaurant is big and nicely decorated, felt very warm and welcoming. The staff were so gracious even though we knew we were a bit of an inconvenience. If you've ever worked in the service industry, you know that's the last thing you want to see come in at 30 min before closing! We were so appreciative, the food was really really good, everyone enjoyed their orders. We did not linger, but we didn't feel rushed to hurry hurry either. We were tired from our long photo shoot so we were ready to get back to the hotel, happy with full bellies. We stayed in Creekside, it was a great place to stay as well. We highly recommend this restaurant for the service, food and atmosphere. If we lived closer I'd be happy to go back again and again. They were very accommodating.
Delicious food! Hit the spot. I was so grateful for the "kids portion" of fettuccine Alfredo with chicken as I would not have been able to finish the whole adult size after indulging in the delicious artichoke dip. Excited to come back again and try some steak. Hubby enjoyed the cashew chicken noodle meal and said spice level 3 out of 4 was perfect for him. 💜 Also our server was delightful. Extremely professional and good at her job. Kept our drinks filled and was patient and helpful.
Great atmosphere and food. I had the prime rib tonight, it’s only available Friday Saturday and Sunday. It was very good. I sat in the bar area and the service was excellent. I started off with the bacon wrapped shrimp, it was delicious as well. Whenever I’m in town I come to Whiskey Creek. I’ll continue to come.
Tried this little gem while out working with the Bishop Paiute tribe over here in Bishop, CA. Talking to a few locals they said if I was after a great steak to try out this spot. From the wait staff(Amazing) to the desert(mouth-watering) I cant say enough good about whiskey Creek. My food was on time and cooked to perfection. The waiter was absolutely a pleasure, beyond helpful, friendly and informative. You could tell he was a fan favorite among all current and new patrons. As a new patron I was treated just like the regular local crowd, welcomed and accepted i felt right at home here. Every single aspect of dining was nailed here. I cant wait to come back. What a great place
In Bishop California on Hwy 395 you'll find the Whiskey Creek Restaurant. We never dined there before, it was late and they were pretty much the only ones open. This place is pretty cool, check out the pictures! We were promptly and warmly greeted and seated. Our waitress was super friendly and pleasant! She answered all of our questions. I ordered steak which came with nicely seasoned gravy and mashed potatoes and freshly cut seasoned not overly cooked squash. YUMMM! My wife ordered shrimp thai soup. The shrimp were plentiful and fresh, not over cooked. The soup itself was pretty good, but not as good as a Thai restaurant. We would order again. For dessert we ordered Key Lime pie. The crust was very good! The pie was excellent! We would definitely hit the Whiskey Creek Restaurant again. Excellent service!
A very comfortable place, specially if you’re on the road and just passing by, it’s a great place to eat and rest. It was incredibly delicious and the price was right. We ordered Beef Curry Panang and Asian Chicken Salad. The service was great as well. My dad has to often drive around the state for his job and he said he would make sure to stop by when his in the area. That’s how good it was!
Food matches the price. Staff is super friendly and helpful. We got a wonderfully large wedge salad, pork chop and breaded chicken. All of the plates were really well balanced. The mashed potatoes filled with carmalized garlic was an amazing side on the pork chop plate. Dessert menu is amazing too
We’re only passing through the lovely town of Bishop and asked the girl at our hotel reception the best place to eat here. She recommended here so we came. Lovely food with great portion sizes. We got the rib eye steak, onion rings, pesto pasta, crème brulee and hot fudge sundae. Everything was just beyond delicious. Would recommend to anyone in the area!
We're on vacation and we chose this place because it was a warm dining experience. The only other options out there were bar and grills, fast food restaurants, South of the border foods and a few Asian. I posted a couple pictures of what we ordered, the food that we were getting was a four cheese linguine topped with chicken and a kids chicken strips with fries. Whiskey Creek also offered a Thai fusion page in their menu along with live music. The saxophone player is also offering happy birthdays for customers. We were very satisfied with the food. Also, it's a kid friendly restaurant.
Really nice ambiance with a diverse menu, but maybe they should stick to one genre of food. My whole group was psyched to see they offered Thai food! And for a really affordable price. Unfortunately, the Pad Thai was not very flavorful and the Yellow Curry was very watery. In my experience, curry has a thicker, creamy consistency. This curry kinda just dripped off the chicken it surrounded. It was still tasty though! Our chicken and shrimp fried rice was really good though. Portions were large and the three aforementioned dishes were enough to share with me and two others. So while the food was tasty/mildly tasty, I’ve definitely had far superior Thai food for similar prices (we paid ~$50 for the three dishes). But hey for Bishop, it’s not bad at all—just not stellar. Service was also friendly We ordered Crème Brûlée for dessert and it was really good. It came with three dollops of whipped cream with chocolate wafer hazelnut sticks in each one. There’s a bar with fair prices, a modern electronic jukebox to play music for a small fee, and what looked to be a stage with a DJ table so I’m assuming they have live events. The restrooms were REALLY clean and plenty of options so there shouldn’t ever be a wait. There’s a nice waiting area in the front of the restaurant. Plenty of parking is available as well. Overall a nice experience! Just don’t expect Thai food like you’d get at a place dedicated to just Thai food.
This has become our lunch stop when we drive from San Diego to Tahoe and each time we eat here we are reminded of why. It's convenient, it's open, and there's ample parking. So many of the small towns and restaurants along the route are shuttered and closed up tight that there are limited options. The food is not great. We had onion rings that were burned and wings that had been frozen recently. Just a bit farther up the road are many other options that we will try in the future.
