I had a great experience at Timberline Steakhouse inside Ameristar Black Hawk more than once, and it’s easily become one of my favorite place to eat when I’m in town. I love the New York strip with chimichurri - absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere feels upscale without being stuffy. You can really tell they take pride in both the food and the overall dining experience. If you’re looking for a top tier steakhouse in Black Hawk, I highly recommend Timberline Steakhouse. I can’t wait to visit again the next time I’m in Black Hawk.

This was my first time eating at this restaurant and it was scrumptious! Timberline is on the casino floor of the Ameristar Black Hawk Casino. My bestie brought us here for a relaxing getaway and birthday dinner for my mom. She, as always, picked the perfect spot because we had a great time! The restaurant was busy as all get out so there was a slight wait for our table but the hostesses checked in with us several times. The kind of great customer service I appreciate. We were sat a few minutes after our reservation time in a private booth in the front area of the restaurant. Our server, Jessica, was slammed but made sure to touch all of her tables. She came over with water and since we’re starving we ordered our drinks and food all at once. She brought over fresh bread and butter which was warm and yummy. Our appetizers came out: squash blossoms, scallops, crab cakes, and bone marrow for the bestie. We devoured everything and made a lot of satisfied food sounds. We were able to sit back and digest before our entrees came out. She ordered the 3oz wagyu and we ordered the 8oz salmon to share. The sides were ala carte so we ordered the asparagus, heirloom tomatoes, and mashed potatoes to share. It was all so good. Everything was cooked to the requested temps. The sides were perfect! Can’t even truly describe how perfect this meal was. We all sat back and sighed when we were done. The sides were a generous portion so we have leftovers. Jessica brought over the dessert menu…we glanced at it but none of us had any room for more things. Well done, Timberline and staff, for a delectable experience.

Bravo. The food, service and ambience were top quality and first rate. Staff was friendly. Attentive. Quick to correct things. They knew the regular customers and it was a treat to see the family type interactions. Extensive menu. Staff were keen to facilitate subtle ways mebers of the party requested their food be prepared. Beverages were kept filled. Overall a very fine dining experience. I highly recommend this establishment. It's a must visit while spending time at Ameristar Black Hawk. You'll enjoy it. I'm sure you'll be glad you went.

All Tops. While at a night🌃 over at blackhawk colorado we wanted seafood🍤. Looked at the surrounding casino buffets & We found this seafood extravaganza. Best ever. Fresh feast. And great French Onion Soup and breads too. Between the two of us it was over abundance. We had a few blue cheese martinis🍸 and Manhattans🥃 too... and Wow!🤠

Delicious dinner at Timberline! Enjoyed the Snake River Cold Smoked Wagyu Filet, with a delicious glass of Clos du Val Cab. Jairo (server) was exceptional as was the entire dinner experience. Chef cooked my filet to perfection, always a little tricky with Wagyu but he aced it! Highly recommend, and there are new items on the menu to keep it interesting.

Great food and great service. Prices are a little high but you get what you pay for. I had the bison tomahawk chop and it was phenomenal! It was a great cut of meat and perfectly cooked at medium rare. At the suggestion of our server, I added the lobster Oscar which was a great call. Others in my party had the prime rib and a couple of filets. Everyone was happy with what they had ordered. Our server, KK, was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I will definitely ask to sit in his section whenever I go back.

This restaurant is so very worth the drive! The service staff is umcomparable! Everyone is wonderful! The food is beyond amazing! Whomever this chef is... hands down, absolutely perfect food every time! I would LOVE to learn from this chef!! Go, try it! It's a little pricey but so very worth every penny! And the portions are HUGE!!

Great atmosphere, wonderful service and fantastic food. We were able to get seated right away on a weekday night, the server was prompt and new the menu in great detail. Me and my girlfriend split the bison hawk in the king crab legs with a side of mushrooms and a side salad; it was the perfect amount of food. We will definitely be returning next time we visit Blackhawk.

One of the best meals I have ever had. I was a little reticent because it is a restaurant at a casino. But it truly was excellent. We had the double cut pork chop, salmon, chop salad, and the peas (as a side) and the carrot cake dessert. Everything was cooked, prepared, and plated perfectly. Service and ambiance were also great. I don't like noisy restaurants (which many seem to be these days). Timberline had music playing softly and was great. Service was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised we had such a great experience.

The service was excellent, we were treated like royalty and savoured every single bite! From the fresh bread to the phenomenal desserts that we took to-go. What an incredible experience and I can't wait to return.

My husband and I decided to take a quick escape to Blackhawk and we had a lovely dinner experience at Timberline! Our server was amazing! She was helpful in making recommendations and even made some adjustments for me based on my dietary needs. The management stopped by to ask how our dinner was going and we just felt very cared for. 10/10 will return! Thank you from the Stewart’s in Lakewood.

Made reservations for a birthday dinner. Only place in town with availability during Thanksgiving weekend. We were given a private room. The service was great. The food delicious. Everyone had steaks perfectly cooked. We shared sides. All was great. Upscale environment. Dress was business casual, food was pricey. We did steaks shared sides (sides are meant to be shared) had drinks and dessert. Averaged $80-$90 per person.

I really loved the food as it was just so rich in flavor. Truly value for money and must visit if you are in Blackhawk

Best meal I have had in a long time. Hands down the best ribeye my husband and I have ever had. The service was incredible and the whole experience was fantastic. We will be coming up just for dinner.

JT at the bar made us feel extremely welcome, and he made my friend the best bourbon sours he'd ever had. Our waiter was AWESOME, and ensured we had an excellent dining experience. The food was fantastic - the steaks were all cooked perfectly to our liking, all the sides were delicious and there was a nice variety of rolls. We'll definitely be back!

Have dined here several times. Katie is our go-to server. She is exceptional and a great person. Food is yummy.. get the au gratin potatoes. Love the rustic feel. One of my favorite places.

Fantastic upscale resturant in the casino. I've eaten dinner here several times and always had a great experience. The food is very good. The wine list is extensive and the full service bar makes great cocktails. Although pricey, they provide a great dinner experience with delicious food. This place seems to be one of the most upscale resturants in the area.

We had the best experience at Timberline! One of the best steakhouses in the Denver area that we have tried. Our waiter - Chad - made our experience a 10/10. He was absolutely FANTASTIC! He explained everything on the menu so well, he was attentive and extremely kind. His service stood out to us over any service we have had in a long time. He was one of the best waiters we’ve EVER had. Definitely can’t speak enough good words about Chad. The food was great, drinks were delicious (and strong). Scallops were excellent, Ribeye was perfect and we loved the French onion soup. We will definitely be back! Again, we enjoyed tonight in large part due to the service in addition to the food.

John the bartender was so good and well knowledgeable in his duties and history of drinks. Was so impressed and loved the experience and the food was delicious. Anthony was our waiter the 2nd night and was all smiles and great service!

One of the best meals we've had, and that's saying something because we enjoy dining at Del Frisco's, Ocean Prime, Monarch Chophouse, Capital Grille, etc. The Wagyu beef was on point, king crab legs were huge, bread was hot, cocktails were strong and beautifully poured. Ambiance is warm, dark, romantic with a very Western lodge sort of feel (Monarch Chophouse has a more modern/chic club vibe). But what made the experience a solid A+ was our server Katie; she made the whole experience fun, effortless, and enjoyable with her warmth, humor, speed, and knowledge of the menu offerings. Highly recommend!

The Timberline at the Ameristar is the perfect place for dinner while you travel to and from the mountains. Kelly at the Ameristar advised us to try this Restaurant and we are happy we did. Jessica was our most excellent server. We had the prime rib and next time we will be more adventurous. Thank you!

Nice atmosphere, quiet you would not know your inside a casino in the restaurant. The food is very tasty but prices are a bit high for outside of Denver proper. The rosemary potatoes were a bit dry.

I love the bone marrow it’s majestic. Server is ok. Place is good if you seat at the booth.

It was a great experience, we had a phenomenal waitress and great service with the host. The steak and shrimp blew all of us out of the water. Paid about $100 a head with drinks & extra sides. For the quality of food and service, i will definitely be back!

Maria behind the bar did her best since she was alone and trying to manage the drinks and take orders. I don't fault her. The bone marrow appetizer came out after our prime rib. We denied it. I want that impressed with the prime rib but my liked it.

We ate dinner here the last two evenings. Last evening Jessica was our server and she was fantastic, attentive and friendly. We had oysters and shared the seafood sampler with Caesar salad. That was phenomenal. The seafood was a little disappointing as it was frozen solid. We used the butter warmers to get thawed enough to eat so it ended well. This evening we ordered a wedge salad, well it was a salad but definitely not any kind of wedge. The tomatoes had 2 rotten ones :-( unexpectedly one went into and immediately out of a mouth. The salad was a few romaine leafs with the normal fixings you would expect. The Filet was tasty for sure but presentation was lacking! We had to ask multiple times for butter, crackers, little forks, etc... the server tonight was KK. Slow, not friendly, I'd would not say rude but curt seems to fit. In the end the crab was delicious. Definitely lost the luster of what this establishment once was. Hopefully it is just an off night.

Restaurant was in the casino and a cute set up for being so. We were sat in the center and it was empty so we asked to be moved to a booth, the lady gave us such a hard time it was laughable. We even said if she cannot move us it’s fine but booth preferred. She said that’s what the comments section is for in the reservation to where we had just put birthday. Our server was friendly but wow a smile or recommendation something would be nice lol Filet was delicious! I loved my strawberry peach salad! French Onion Soup was mediocre and not warm enough. It was very sweet that they gave us a complimentary birthday dessert.

Staff is friendly and the food had great presentation but our whole lobster was undercooked and we couldn't get another as it was too late...I would like to try again sometime with the expectation all of my food is cooked

Had the Wagu Manhattan filet. It was not very tender. I have had regular choice filets that were more tender and flavorfull.

I made the reservation a month in advance and asked for a table on the outside of the room for our anniversary. They seated us in the middle of the room. There were empty booths and the hostess said we couldn't have one. The shrimp cocktail was great, the prime rib was tough. We did get a free dessert for our anniversary and that was the high point.

Good atmosphere for a casino restaurant but the food was really subpar. My roasted chicken was completely dry and so dark. It tasted like soot… as if the oven needed to be cleaned. The potatoes underneath it were burnt. The steak my husband got was under seasoned. Called “dry aged” and cost $88 but didn’t taste that way at all. We were a party of four and our food came out at different times and the order wasn’t accurate. Not at all the kind of food or service experience we would expect for a meal that cost $500.

Maybe one of the worst dining experiences in my life. When you go to a fancy restaurant you expect to be wowed. We were very underwhelmed. The scallops were delicious! But the service was non existent. We were basically ignored for 2 hours. We had flag down a server, not ours, to tell them our lobster was cold. Then when it was returned warm it was so tough you could hardly cut it with a knife. When we finally got the attention of our server who seemed to make it a point to keep his back to us, and request the manager we waited at least 20 minutes for the manager who came and offered us nothing as compensation except to not charge us for the lobster. We have had better service at Chili's, or pretty much anywhere.

I had high expectations for this restaurant, I really did. Unfortunately, they did not pan out well. For starters, my partner and I ordered soup. I got the French Onion and he got the Lobster Bisque. Both were mediocre at best. The flavor of the French onion soup was not very robust. For an expensive soup I expect more. My partner and I tried switching soups and I couldn't stand the texture of the lobster bisque because it was thick and had a very fishy flavor. For the main course my partner had a steak and I had the Mushroom Bolognese. He said his steak was like a King Soopers cut and he could get that at the store and cook it himself. My biggest disappointment was in my entree. It was described as having pasta with mushrooms and some other pieces of vegetables. What it turned out to be was that but not the way it was described. The mushrooms were chopped up into a tiny pate form which I found disgusting. I scraped off the whole thing and just ate the pasta. The vegetables that they claimed were included were sprinkled around the outside sparingly. Needless to say, I paid a lot of money for a plate of pasta. Honestly, I get really sick of restaurants failing to know how to make a vegetarian option for their guests. I understand that the focus is not on the vegetarian when you are offering steak, however, many people who do not eat meat a lot (or at all) get dragged into a steak restaurant with their friends or family. It's important to try to create something that appeals to those people even if that's not your focus. I think for that kind of money the Timberline Grill at Ameristar can do much better.

our service was absolutely horrendous, the server checked on us one throughout the whole time there only because i was asking for her to ask about our food. we ordered the seafood sampler and every single thing besides the oysters were frozen solid and not edible unless we wanted to chew on ice. (photo makes it look good but it wasn’t edible) i brought this up and the waitress just apologized but didn’t do anything or offer us another one, substitution, etc… by the time our drinks came out we were almost done with dinner.

Will never go to this restaurant again. Champagne was served warm. Lobster was $80 and was way over done. I couldn't get it out of the shell without scraping. Hostess was watching us like we were gonna skip out. My husband told him about the lobster and got the same popular response of "I'm sorry" we ordered dessert then cancelled, because of the poor quality. $200 bill. Was our 40th anniversary, so we were celebrating.

A
Angela Haydusky

Disappointed to say the least. Ordered salads, cold smoked wagyu filets, boursin mashed potatoes. Salad was soggy and bare, filets were had to saw through, 99% sure they tried to pass off a low quality strip ( that’s being kind) for a $70 filet, never even brought the potatoes. When brought to the attention of the waitress she apologized and seemed very frustrated as though this was how her entire night was going. They did remove one steak and the potatoes that were never brought but that was it. For going out for a birthday celebration expecting a nice dinner and experience it was a complete fail. I have seen people compare Chilis but honestly had way better experiences and quality at Chilis for 1/20th the price. Save your hope for a decent meal and spend your money elsewhere.

I honestly don't know where to begin, so let's start from the point of entry. To start, the hostess was not welcoming and very rude. We asked for a different table and she explained how we would need to make reservations even though the restaurant was nearly empty. The server started off well, took our order, and it came quickly. Unfortunately, the food was cold and had no flavor to resemble what we actually ordered. When we tried calling the waitress's attention and she was tied up. She went to another table even though we kept trying to get her attention. Other staff passed us up as well. No service. When the waitress finally arrived at the table, we explained that the food was cold and didn't taste well at all. She was upset and snatched the bill and plates from our table. We just wanted a small, warm meal, and we couldn't even get that. The looks we got on the way out was as if we committed a crime, but the only crime committed was the food and service.

I don't usually leave negative reviews for restaurants but unfortunately the food I had at the lastnight made me extremely ill very shortly after. I don't think this was a one time event that evening as well due to the 3-4 other women being sick in the restroom alongside me. I had the prime rib as well as the side of lobster mac and cheese. This experience unfortunately ruined what could have been a very lovely evening. Buyer beware.

Worst dining experience I’ve ever had in my life! This place does not even deserve one star. Horrible food. Waited over 30 mins for drinks and never asked if we wanted to order more. Ordered a filet mignon medium and it was still purple and blue sent it back and it came out within a minute and only the outside was cooked middle still cold. Talked to the manager and she was very rude didn't offer to help and was very confrontational just wanted to argue instead of fixing the problem. Also waited 30 mins past a reservation time. When you are spending 250+ you expect good service and this place is not it. Baked potato was absolutely disgusting and inedible. Overall very disappointed and dissatisfied. Would never recommend this place to anyone. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS PLACE!

I spent 170.00 for a single meal which included rude service, a wedge salad that was actually a few leafs of bib lettuce, accompanied with dressing which I actually think was mayonnaise and a few blue cheese sprinkles, followed by an 80.00 ribeye steak that resembled shoe leather and just as easy to cut. I ate half of it because I got tired of cutting. The meal ended with a slice of dehydrated chocolate cake…however on a good note the crème brûlée and cheese cake, which was shared with the table was very good. I have never written a review, but this was not only the most expensive meal I have ever had, but the worst.

Horrible experience. Steaks were horrendous.. NY Strip was full of fat and grisle. VERY BAD. The Filet Mignon was way undercooked and when waitress brought a re-cooked steak it was actually MORE rare !!! VERY BAD. So it wasn't even the same steak !!! The potatoes were way way way way too salty. The waitress forgot our salads. We were not even offered dessert. The hostess that sat us was very rude. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK, and we do not recommend this restaurant. The Manager did not offer us any solutions, refunds, or any offers for our experience to be improved. She did not offer any solutions for our extreme disappointment. We had gone there for my birthday.... the Timberline ruined our time in Ameristar. !!! DO NOT GO.

I had a reservation for 7:45pm for a bachelor party. We had planned our evening around this, and by 7:45 the fellas needed food. We were not seated until after 8:30 and then sat in a room with no ambiance. The waiter was unwilling or unable to split the bill and quite frankly was rude throughout the evening. My fish was cold, and another member of the party sent his steak back. No one was impressed by the food. I really wanted to have a classy evening for my brother and booked the Ameristar due to your reputation. I was extremely disappointed. The group still had a good time, but it was a lemonade out of lemons situation. I won't be back.

Had dinner reservations at 7:15. Waited over an hour for our food and saw multiple tables that were seated after us have their meals, pay and leave. Our waitress told us that because of a large table, it was slowing down the kitchen. But when our food came out and the fries and steak were cold. The chicken was overly salty to the point that it could not be eaten. The waitress did take off one of the steaks and had the kitchen remake our fries. When you go to a nicer restaurant that is pricy, you expect your food to be hot and taste good. Will not go back as it is a waste of time and money.

We arrived for our reservation time and were seated promptly. Our waiter came to the table to take our drink order quickly but forgot about us the rest of the night. Our experience was awful. We sat with empty cocktails and waters for the majority of time we were there. The only time we received refills is when we grabbed our waiters attention. Asked for more bread, never received it. We finally ordered dinner and my food came out first. About 10 minutes later, my brother in laws food arrived. We decided to wait to eat until my sister and husband received their food, but it never came. We finally were able to grab our waiters attention and inquired about the missing food. He went to kitchen to check on our order and came back and informed us our missing food is unavailable and they need to pick something different off the menu. We ordered over an hour ago and were not told this until we will inquired about our food. My sister is vegetarian and ordered the only vegetarian menu option so she had no other choices for dinner. She ended up ordering a small side salad for her dinner and left the restaurant still hungry. By the time we finally received the rest of the food, most of us were done eating and sat and watched the others eat. Very disappointing experience, especially when the meal cost over $500. We do not recommend and we will never be back to eat there. There are other steak houses in Blackhawk, we suggest you eat there instead. We were celebrating our anniversaries and this put a damper on the night.

Poor service, inconsistent food, and gratuity handled unprofessionally Dined at Timberline Grill (Ameristar) with a party of 7. The restaurant wasn’t busy when we arrived, which made the experience even more disappointing. We understand the 20% auto-gratuity for parties of 6+ is listed on the menu — the policy isn’t the issue. The issue was the level of service and food quality, and then being pressured about gratuity despite the problems. Service issues: • One order was not entered at all. When it was finally brought out, it arrived right as we were ready to leave, and the steak was cooked incorrectly (ordered medium, came back rare/undercooked). • Fries were missing and arrived much later (they were hot when they finally came, but the guest was already leaving and couldn’t even eat them). • Our server, Jessica, didn’t check on the table, and interactions felt dismissive, like we were the problem for asking about missing items. • The most frustrating part: when the check was brought, Jessica dropped it down and said, “There’s also a guaranteed 20% gratuity included,” then walked away. It came across as abrupt and unprofessional. Food issues: • Several items came out cold. • The Caesar salad was overly heavy/“done” and had an excessive spicy seasoning that threw it off. • The tuna was extremely oily, especially with the rice. We raised concerns because the experience didn’t justify an automatic 20%. The manager initially insisted it was 20% “no matter what,” but did ultimately adjust it. Even so, the way it was handled felt pressuring rather than guest-focused. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t return or recommend this place, especially for groups. atmosphere is beautiful. The only reason why I gave him one star

B

This place must have new cooks, servers and managers. The food was terrible including hard rolls, a warm salad with ice cold chunks of bacon. The crab cakes were pure mush and not prepared as described on the menu or how they were in the past. The steak was ice cold and the asparagus were not cooked or prepared as described. I strongly suggest eating across the street, this after years of going there.

We usually have a great time. They got rid of the charcuterie board which we love. There were also mice running around when we went and the servers didnt care. Disgusting!! Especially with the price

Out of prime rib before 8. Wasn’t busy. Ordered medium rare ny strip and got a medium well triangle chunk of tough meat. Server, Juan, didn’t care.
