Very fun restaurant. The right amount of bust for 7pm on a Saturday. We were sat right away for our reservation. The perfect pear is one of the best drinks Ive had in a while. Good drink selection overall. All the food was very good. Kids meals were good too. Very happy with the experience. We will be to go back or to other locations
Lovely staff with both indoor and outdoor seating. Their burgers were great, and true to the level that you ask for the burger to be cooked. Their Parmesan rosemary fries were great, you will not regret! The burgers themselves were quite large, you will not leave hungry. The cookie dessert you can tell was not made fresh, the pan is cold, and the cookie was cold which was a bummer. But it still tastes ok.
Tavern in the Square, the North End branch was absolutely stunning. Clean, beautiful, and relaxing atmosphere. I love the food we ordered. We ordered chicken and burger. They were both well cooked and delicious. The portion was enough and it wasn’t pricey at all. I would go there again.
Though it was super busy, our group of four got seated in about 20 minutes. We sat and talked for a couple of hours as we were catching up with friends we hadn’t seen in years, our waitress never made us feel rushed and did a great job serving us. Two of us in our group have Celiac and this is HANDS DOWN the best gluten free food I’ve ever had. The breading sticks well, it’s crispy, and soooo delicious!!! We ordered the fried pickles, buffalo cauliflower, fish and chips, Caesar salad, and chicken strips!! All were fabulous! Will definitely come here again. Drinks were also great!
Perfect spot for a before or after meal when visiting TD Garden. I have yet to order anything bag. Everything is always fresh and flavorful.
I've been here a couple times and it's been consistently good! This visit I had a crunch salad with Salmon. It was amazing, fresh, and delicious.
Tavern in the Square near North Station is a solid spot, especially for its location in downtown Boston. It’s on the pricier side, as expected in the area, but the food is well prepared and the atmosphere is great. I sat on the terrace and really enjoyed the weather and the overall vibe. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they accept major credit cards. I’d definitely recommend it.
I dont usually write the reviews while O am on a date but THIS RESTAURANT DESERVES IT!!! The food was on another level! We started with the Bang Bang Broccoli which was recommended to us by the hotel front desk. It is difficult to describe just how incredibly delicious this dish was! Tempura friend broccoli in a sweet and spicy chili sauce they make here. The first bite had both me and my husband say WOW! It is an explosion of flavor!!!! We also got fried pickles as an appetizer and they were exactly what you would want from a fried pickle with the perfect amount of breading. It was also served with secret sauce which was yummy and not spicy at all. For dinner my husband got a burger which he said was cooked just to his liking and delicious. He also loved the tots he got as his side. I got the chicken barra sandwich which was phenomenal! The fig jam added just the tight amount of sweet. I also upgraded my fries to the garlic herb parm fries. They are the best ones i have ever had!!! Not greasy yet had the flavors you would hope for. Also came with a white colored dipping sauce that was garlic parm too!! Now that we have covered our food lets talk about the service. KEVIN OS AMAZING!!! He was so attentive and offered recommendations. He is friendly and kind and what you would want in a perfect server! The restaurant itself is super comfortable. Being a heavier woman i am sometimes squished in yhe booths. Tonights has plenty of room and lots of cushioning. As for ambiance it has a tavern feel which is a great thing since its a tavern. IF I COULD GIVE MORE THAN 5 STARS I WOULD!!! Highly highly HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAVERN ON YHE SQUARE!!!
They have gluten-free deep-fried pickle chips and gluten-free fish n chips! What a delight! They made sure my allergies were adressed and everything was delicious!
Tavern in the Square was fantastic! This was the perfect spot for a quick lunch in Boston, while waiting for the train to Salem. Service was delightful & the atmosphere was upbeat and positive. I enjoyed the Summer Rose Sangria, which was both refreshing and sweet. Next on the table was the Creamy Burrata, plated with delicious cherry tomatoes, arugula, & homemade bread. Overall a great spot — do not miss!
I ordered the General Tso's chicken, and also the Talk Tiki To Me cocktail. Both were absolutely perfect! If I had been here as a personal trip, I would have stuck around and order a few more of those drinks, and maybe some to-go food. Best General Tso's I've ever had, and one of the tastiest drinks I've ever had as well. Highly recommended! My server was also nice, prompt, and professional, and was not at all overly doing it at all. I could tell from other tables they were server that he was incredibly attentive, but careful not to bother someone while they were actively eating or drinking. Top-notch experience all around.
Have visited here a few times during our stay in Boston,we really liked the atmosphere, the staff were always friendly. The food was good, lovely Mac & Cheese & The Buffalo Cauliflower got a thumbs up. They have a good range of drinks and considering the location good value. On game days at the TD Garden there will be a wait for a table but that's to be expected.
What an excellent place. Food, staff and atmosphere was amazing. Isabella our server was so friendly and helpful with everything Highly recommend server
i absolutely love coming here! it’s the perfect bar for after a TD garden event. the bar staff are always phenomenal, the food is good, drinks are even better. the margs are good and the pride punch this year is to die for. i take all my family and friends here and i myself am here at least once a week. great destination to loop into a boston trip!!
We stoped here for lunch and drinks. Ordered the appetizer tots, and shared plates of burgers and caprese sandwich. Emma, our waitress, was super nice and gave us amazing service. Had a great time.
Visited twice in 4 days..that's how much I enjoyed it here! The staff were so friendly and attentive, the selection of beer was amazing and the food was fantastic! Luckily I'll be back in Boston in a couple weeks, working nearby, so I'll definitely be back! 😀
Finally, after years of gluten free, I can sit at a bar and eat bar food! I'm in the area for work, and found this gem by googling GF in the area. The first night, I order chicken tenders to go. OMG! So crunchy and delicious. Because I can't remember the last time I was able to eat fish and chips, I thought that I would eat in on my last night. I sat at the crowded bar (game night), ordered a drink, and ordered my meal. It was delicious. Flaky, white fish, crunchy exterior, perfect fries. I cannot recommend this place enough, especially for the tired of eating a salad at a bar GF people.
We didn’t have a reservation, but we were seated at a booth right away. We ordered some drinks and entrées, and everything was excellent. The service was attentive and pleasant as well. Located right in front of the AMC theater, it’s a convenient spot to visit if you’re in the area. I highly recommend checking it out!
Omg I love this place I went there for the Patriots AFC championship game and I got to say you guys rock I shouted d you guys said fence in the New England Patriots are going to the super bowl I had a blast thank you Danielle and all of the staff You guys rock anybody that was there that sees this Hit a like on it cuz you was there you witnessed the power of Patriot Nation when we all stand together we can do a lot more thank you tavern on the square keep up a good pour, on the beer of course!!! #patriotsnation #bostonstrong
I’ve been a regular here for 4 years and I’ve always had a good time here no matter the occasion. I love the staff there. Pierre is the life of this place, he’s welcoming to everyone while at the same time running the place at a high caliber.
We had Nick take care of us in the middle of many delays and angry customers, and he went above and beyond and he handled a crowded and frustrated restaurant with a great attitude while maintaining stellar service. To whoever runs this spot, take care of Nick because he took care of all of us.
I had a great experience. Food was great same as service. Two things I liked the most: the waiting time was as told and they we were playing the songs of the band performing at the TD Garden that night. I’d recomend.
Our waiter Rudy gave my girlfriend and I the best dining experience from start to finish. We were starving after we went to TD Garden for the Nine Inch Nails concert. Rudy was quick, insightful, courteous, and jovial. We were essentially just looking to stuff our faces and leave but Rudy really made the whole experience so much fun that we stayed for some drinks.
Always such a fun experience, but what truly sets this place apart is Pierre. He’s honestly one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet - he's friendly, and incredibly welcoming. He consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels comfortable and has an amazing time. The service is always exceptional, and his upbeat attitude really elevates the whole vibe. Couldn’t ask for more! Highly recommend.
Very pleased with our meal! My friend has a gluten allergy and was so excited with all the gluten free options. We got fried pickles- which she has never been able to have before- and each ordered a sandwich. Her bun looked a little different than mine and she said it tasted great for gluten free. By the end of our meal we were stuffed and nobody got sick… so definitely a great spot that is sensitive to allergies.
My husband and I were celebrating a milestone, so we went out to town and went to a tavern in the square. The food was delicious, the service was fast, and we enjoyed every second of it. And for what we got, the price was right. We will be going back.I got the bang bang broccoli which was out of this world. I know it's only starter however it filled me up.
Return visits are absolutely warranted so I can try a plethora of food and bar options! The talented and knowledgeable Russell was a joy to have as a waiter! (Hope you were able to take care of that R-13 without issue 😉) Food, atmosphere, staff were top notch!! Looking forward to our next Tavern dining experience!!
My friends and I have been going to the north station lotion for the past 10 years. Always fun and we love our server, Ryan (dark haired guy). Also Pierre is fabulous. Really the life of this place! He’s always so welcoming and you can tell he really cares about this place!
live is far better than any other location Pierre goes above and beyond to always make people feel welcome there. He wears many hats as you can tell and he's always going above and beyond to make the place run smoothly. For the amount of business that it does even before sporting events, he always make sure that the place is well run and that everyone feels safe there that is very important to me having a daughter. If I was owning a business, I would want a man like this involved.
I’ve been coming to this Tavern in the Square location for years, and I always have an amazing experience. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is lively, and the staff is fantastic—especially Pierre! I can’t recommend this place enough, whether it’s a game day or not.
This is a big shoutout to Pierre - could have written a dozen of these over the course of the 9 years that I’ve been coming to Tavern North Station, so this one will have to make up for lost time. Pierre is an absolute legend and fixture at Tavern - everyone knows him, and he knows everyone else. He runs the place with pride from his heart and soul and no matter how small the night, event, game, or turnout, he always gives his all. Whether it’s finding seats for guests, making sure people are getting a top-notch experience, cleaning up spills and messes, or even breaking up bar fights (we all know they happen - he busted one up like a champ the other day when some kid started making trouble; he and a group of Bruins fans quickly put out the would-be brawler’s melee; order was restored and the good-hearted fun went on after a Bruins win that night like nothing had even happened - that simple, no business lost; honestly impressive). No matter how you slice it, Pierre is a legend, and I hope to see him there for many more years to come! Again…after 9 years of knowing him and going there, it was finally it was time to speak up and sing his praises as well as the praises of that epic and irreplaceable bar itself! Cheers and see you soon Pierre and Tavern North!
We loved this spot! The food was great! The waitstaff was super informed about gluten free options / celiac disease and protocols to avoid cross-contact. Everything was clearly marked as an allergy. They were super nice! We came once for lunch and once for brunch and both times were great! I liked the booth style seating and it never felt overly loud or crowded. Only regret is not coming a third time!
We stopped by Tavern in the Square after a day of travel, and it was the perfect spot to unwind and grab dinner. We were greeted right away and seated quickly in a cozy little booth that felt private and comfy. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was great, and our server Russell A. was top notch — super attentive and friendly the whole time. We started with the whipped feta, which was a mixed bag for us — I’d give it a 4/10 but my wife really enjoyed it and rated it closer to a 7/10. For mains, I had the crispy ranch chicken sandwich with fries, and she got the ahi tuna bowl. My meal came out hot and fresh, fries were perfect, but the sandwich was a little heavy on the breading and could’ve used a bit more flavor (thankful for the ketchup and ranch). My wife loved her tuna bowl — said it was flavorful and really well done. Something that really stood out to me as someone with food allergies is that Tavern in the Square is a completely nut-free restaurant. It was such a relief not having to mention my tree nut allergy or worry about cross-contamination — it instantly made me feel safe and comfortable dining there. Overall, great service, nice environment, and solid food after a long day. We’d definitely come back!
Good food with decent portions and lots of gluten free options.
Busy spot with fun food options for sure, flavors hit the spot. The whipped feta with fig jam and rosemary, my favorite of the evening. Highly recommend the donut dessert! Our waiter wasn’t wrong in his suggestions.
As soon as I walked in, I was seated. The table service was good, my order was taken . My food came out nice at hot. Iga the fish and chips the fish was nice and tender and crispy with every bite was juicy and succulent.. the fries were nice crispy well fried.. I also had the fried chicken they were nice crispy. With a side of honey mustard sauce that just added extra flavor to the wings
Nice section of gluten and shellfish free fried food. We started with the pickle chips which were crispy and tasty with a good dipping sauce. For entrees we had the gf fish and chips, gf general’s chicken with tempura broccoli, and the Mac and cheese. All were very tasty. The sauce on the chicken was not too spicy, but it was a little too sweet. We had a reservation, and we probably needed it as it got faintly busy while we were there 6-7:30pm on a Friday. We would stop in again.
Kitchen open until 11pm, full menu :) Quick food service & kind staff! burger was middle ground, could’ve been juicier/thicker, but it did the job! I subbed fries for a side salad and it came with a pretty generous portion of yummy salad. Lots of seating, good music, overall would recommend!
Great location just across from the garden. Good alternative to the fast food options around. Priced appropriately to the portion size. Feeds a hungry crew no problem. Service was quick, attentive, without being rushed.
We stopped in to grab a quick bite to eat before grabbing a show and really enjoyed a great burger. The Tavern burger was a rather large burger ( not complaining), served with sweet potato fries. My girlfriend had the black and bleu burger. They were cooked perfectly and were very good. We were anxious to get in and out in I order to get to our show and they were able to take care of us.
Food was very good. Smaller menu, which led me to believe they focused on really making well what they offered, and I was right. I tried the General Tso, which was random and surprisingly good. I sat at the bar, and I’m pretty sure the waitress clocked out and never told me, so I just kind of sat there for 30 minutes. Would have liked to have tried dessert. But I wasn’t interested after the way. But I’m sure it would have been good.
Great Ambiance. Nice cozy atmosphere for a dinner or lunch date. Got the steak avacado greens dish...wonderful & delicious! However, complacent employees...never checked to see if my steak was cooked right or check back in until I was almost done eating. I had made a mistake ordering and needed to make a new choice. I gave up. Then I did order the desert in the photos. However things just got worse...the cheesecake was kind of gritty and dry as if it were a box mix that didn't get blended well, the berries were extremely tart, and the other fruit was hard and bot really ripe. It was a gritty goey tart mess. However the cream the poured over it was excellent! Yes I will go back as I have had awesome service & amazing food there before last fall. As you see in the pictures...great presentation 👏
Went on a busy concert night told wait time was 15 minutes, went to the bathroom and was alert by text our table for 2 was ready. Sat at the outside patio and was a lot quieter than inside. Service was professional and efficient (4/5) The food we ordered was all GF and they did a great job with acknowledging the allergy and who served us our food. (5/5)
The food was really good! The buffalo pizza was great and so was the bang bang chicken tenders (bit spicy) and the bang bang broccoli but didn’t expect much and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a cool bar right by TD
The place itself, great location ! The gentleman who seated us was very welcoming VS the waitress Ashley, who at first was attentive til she wasn’t. Told her we needed a minute but she sure took advantage of that & was waiting for her to come back a couple times even to give her the check, she was more interested in Laughing and being on her phone with her friends / coworkers. I just watched, tried not to walk up to her and hand her my bill. I know it was slow but that doesn’t mean don’t be attentive. Just work on work ethic especially in hospitality . Food was amazing tho. 🔥
I have been here 3 times, and it’s pretty busy restaurant! Always has to wait to be seated! Food is fine, but last time I ordered steak and it was dry. But other stuff was delicious!
Went here two days in a row. Food was delicious. Their salmon was flavorful and the crunchy steak melt handheld was delicious. Ordered an espresso martini, which at first was more cream than espresso. Their classic espresso martini is good if you request them to go light on the creme and substitute the Baileys or Kahlua (it standardly comes with one, but which I cannot recall) for a proper Borghetti espresso liquer. It's worth stopping in if you're at North Station and have the time to spare.
Tavern in the Square offers a pleasant atmosphere with attentive and friendly staff. The portion sizes are generous, making it a satisfying spot for a meal. However, the Mexican dishes were disappointing—overly dry and lacking flavor. While the overall experience was decent, the prices felt unjustifiably high for the quality of the food.
I hope I have the correct Tavern! Some of the photos don't match up with what I remember. I was also watching the Red Sox vs the Blue Jays game so my memory isn't the greatest. Service was decent. People were friendly. I sat at the bar. I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken with Russet chips. Overall, it tasted good. The outside had a lot of seasoning. My napkin wasn't enough to get it off my fingers or face. Maybe a little less seasoning. I had a huge amount of chips! I couldn't finish them. Just the right amount of salt was added. Ginger Beer 🍺 was my drink. My only issue, the music 🎵 was very loud 🔊. People were raising their voices to be heard. Wifi and outdoor dining available. Prices reasonable. Parking 🅿️ garage across the street.
Took my wife there 10/28/25 for dinner before the Bruins game. Food wasn’t bad, service okay also. The issue is the manager allowed a group of 30ish next to our table with only four chairs for them. They were like buzzards all around us making it very uncomfortable. They stared waiting for us to leave so they could have the table. When leaving I said something to the manager who stands at the entrance. Which was a good view of where we were sitting. He told me he didn’t notice this. They were all in the middle of the island hovering our table and theirs next to us. At leaving the restaurant and paying then the manager offered to do something. Won’t be back if we want to enjoy ourselves.
