Went there to celebrate my lovely wife’s birthday. We opted for 7 course tasting menu. Everything was delicious. And my god the butter they served with bread was delicious. I need to know the brand. Oh the bread was amazing too. Would’ve asked for more if I weren’t so stuffed. Great staff too. All lovely folks. Thanks for making the day special for us.
We stopped by Troquet for lunch on a quiet Thursday afternoon and had a fantastic experience. Their cocktail and beer selections were excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious—definitely a place we’ll revisit soon. Although our meals took longer than expected, our waiter thoughtfully explained the delay was due to a large group’s order being placed simultaneously, which we really appreciated. Just a heads up, street parking is limited, so you may have to use a nearby garage. I’d highly recommend Troquet if you’re in the area!
Very much enjoyed the dinner at Troquet on South. The restaurant is a short walk from South Station. The bluefish pate was marvelous as were the crab spaghetti and duck. I was interested in the 7-course chef selection, but the server wouldn't tell me the names of the dishes, just that they would be whatever the chef felt like serving that day and that the dishes change frequently. I don't if the server just didn't know what was on the menu that day or if he just didn't want to find out. But in the end, I just picked my own dishes. The ladies who came by my table were absolutely lovely and helpful. They checked on whether I liked my dishes. The hostess was wonderful. The service bobble was with my waiter. I sat at my table for a while and had to wave to get attention to get an order in. The complimentary bread is excellent. I'll be back.
Classic French cuisine experience with stellar food and service. Took a visit a few weeks ago to try their regular a la carte menu. We came in on a Friday night, and the place was quite empty. Our initial expectations were thus low, but the overall experience was very satisfying. Before the appetizers, we were served with warm focaccia bread and a spoonful of French butter from a huge bucket. The housemate butter was inexplicably light and the focaccia bread was surely the best I’ve had in my recent memory. For the appetizers, we had the fluke crudo, salmon crudo, and the housemate ricotta, and our favorite was the ricotta. It not only came with a dazzling presentation but also the interplay between the ricotta, olive, and root vegetable chips was light and delightful. On the other hand, the highly-complimented seared foie gras was just okay. Champagne mango panda cotta did boost its umami, but there wasn’t anything special. All the entrées we ordered were flawless: rack of lamb, duck two ways, an rye-crusted scallops were all cooked to perfection. My favorite was the scallop which had seemingly simple toppings. Mélange of morcilla, pomegranate, and delicate squash resulted in sweet, savory, umami-rich bites, and I kept going back for more. For desserts, we had the vanilla crème brûlée and the dark chocolate soufflé, and they were both fairly basic. Yet, the overall experience was definitely more enjoyable than I expected, and I would highly recommend giving them a try if you’re looking for high-end classic French cuisines.
It’s been a long time since I last dined here and it was just as amazing as I remember. We loved all of the food here—excellent and of a high caliber. We started with the oysters which were (I think) the best oysters I’ve ever had. They brought out bread afterwards with freshly scooped butter. Might be some of the best rolls and butter I’ve had too. The bread, lightly salted on top, was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The butter, which melts into the bread as you spread it, had notes of honey in it too adding an extra sweetness. Top tier. All of the entrees were stellar, and one thing I loved was how appropriate the portion sizes were. We finished everything and were content without being overly full. The steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection with mashed potatoes. The creamy carbonara was flavorful with the squash. The branzino was also cooked perfectly and came with tasty sides. And lastly the scallops had a great sauce and went well with the mushrooms. We tried the date cake and chocolate soufflé for dessert but it wasn’t anything crazy or over the top. They don’t have a pastry chef. Lastly I’ll comment on the decor as the vibe was quiet and nice with fun pictures hanging around. The back door is also connected to a speakeasy!
This is a hidden gem. Amazing 7 course tasting menu for $155. They give you so much food. Most tasting menus I need a slice of pizza after The front bar is very loud so try to get seating in the back. Pretty dark inside so great for a romantic date. Service was very knowledgeable and quick. A bit on the stiff side though. 1)Scallop crudo pluot dashi- fresh scallop with good refreshing flavor 4/5 2)lobster Newburg with poached egg 5/5 so much flavor and lobster was very tender. Lots of lobster too! 3) Foie gras brandy jam and appercot 4/5. This was nice can't go wrong with foie gras 4)4Pork Bucatini with peach- a thick pasta dish with delicious pork sausage and peaches 5/5 very good 5) ribeye with potato robuchon, crispy garlic, 5/5 perfectly cooked lots of flavor 6) cheese board. 5/5 great selection 7) chocolate tort with cherries 5/5 rich and decadent. Perfect end to a meal
We went here for our anniversary dinner and both the service and food were excellent! My favorites of the meal were the creme brulee the duck breast, which was the best I've ever had. Definitely recommend for a special occasion!
This was a delicious find in Boston. The drinks were fantastic. The scalps were cooked to perfection and so was the steak. So juicy!! The service was also impeccable. Server was very attentive. Atmosphere was also very charming. Would come back here again
The 4 of us went to Troquet for BD and NYE celebration. It’s an annual event for us now. We love that the place is not packed like most places in downtown. Most important of all, they have great wine pairing with their appetizers and entrees!! The NYE menu is a three-course prix fix and everything we had were delicious! We enjoyed the lay back French Bistro environment too. If you are a wine lover OR a foodie, this is a MUST to visit!
We had the cheese platter, duck breast, and truffle risotto. It was one of the best French meals I’ve had! The waitress even wrote down a list of the decadent cheeses for me so I could find them after my trip. She went above and beyond and we had such a nice time!
Fantastic waitstaff at the bar. The branzino was cooked to perfection! The grilled salad was good too. The baby firefly was great!
My homegirl and I got cooked and ate well on a Friday night. Excellent service, excellent eats, excellent craft cocktails. Shoutout to Tony, the chief barman. He made it a 10/10. Would consent to continue living on this side of the dirt to experience again.
Troquet is an excellent restaurant with an extensive, fantastic wine list. The owner/sommelier is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Also very unpretentious. Food was excellent although chicken I had was just a bit under seasoned and a tad bony. Bread was spectacular. Service was also just fantastic in a nice, warm atmosphere. HIGHLy recommend for those who love food and wine. Great for special occasions. Found prices to be very reasonable for Boston as well.
The best Steak Frites in town. Friendly service, outstanding wine selection and amazing cocktails. If you’re in Boston you cannot miss this place.
Fantastic 5 course tasting menu of oyster amuse, salmon tartare, escargot, foie gras, duck, and chocolate cake for dessert. Glass of the house cava to start and the somm helped us with a great half bottle from the northern Rhône. Im a sucker for a cheese cart and added that to our dinner. The bread rolls and butter are amazing; they ship the butter from France. Stand outs were the salmon tartare and foie gras. Really great service from the whole team and a fun dining experience.
Another great meal at this restaurant. Food is impeccable, service is friendly and thorough. Tsega (spelling?) our server was delightful and Olga, the host, does a great job of making everybody in the room feel seen and welcomed.
Very extensive wine list. Almost five stars but the main proteins were a bit too salty for me. You cant say they underseason. Bread was so good I asked for another.
My wife and I dined here for an early anniversary dinner and ordered the five course tasting menu with wine pairings. The food was beautiful (see photos) and tasty. The wine pairings were from the extensive by-the-glass menu. Most pairings were spot-on, e.g. champagne with asparagus and caviar amuse bouche, and even those that weren't perfect were acceptable, e.g. DeLoach Pinot Noir with portobello risotto. This restaurant is worth a return trip, perhaps dining a la carte with one of the many upscale bottles on their extensive wine list. Given the dining room was nearly empty on a Saturday night, I worry that I may need to return sooner rather than later.
The atmosphere there is good. Nice and clean. However, put 3 🌟 because the food options are not a lot for lunch at least. And the food is normal or ok for the burgers 🍔. However, the steak frites tasted really bad, it is over cooked while we asked for medium well. Also I could taste like ash from it. Not good and will not recommend. Chips with dip.. I felt like it is chips I could buy in supermarket, not worth the price either. Only thing worth to try is Steak tartare, it is interesting and tastes good. Took another ⭐️ off because the oysters 🦪 are not super fresh either. So I will not go to this restaurant again personally. Good luck..
I have to give ONE star and that’s for one reason. I came in with 3 friends and we requested to sit at the bar. We each ordered a drink and a small appetizer. I specifically stated to the bartender that I was covering mine and the friend next to me who had the margarita. I gave him my card and he brought the bill with ALL FOUR peoples orders. I paid the entire check as not to make a scene or seem like I wanted to sort out the bill in an embarrassing way, but I feel like it was terribly inappropriate. You sit at the bar so that you can pay single, not a group check. I tipped 20% because I’m not a jerk, but I can only give one star because of this.
