I stopped here last night for dinner. The welcome was friendly, the advice and guidance on food was superb and the atmosphere excellent. A great night out with exceptional food.
Omars is famous for it's enormous naans but also the curry's are really good. We had pickle tray to start whilst not the best was ok then a couple of there special curry's lamb & fish that were really good & of course a naan bread. Staff were very friendly and asked us if we were going to theatre so could get things sorted faster that I thought was a nice touch. Would definitely go again 👍
Delicious food, great staff. Always a pleasant experience! Good vegetarian options and can take your own alcohol. One of the best curry houses in Bradford centre and hasn't changed quality in years.
Amazing curry and the giant naan bread was perfect!
Spectacular. The best in Bradford. Get the Balti Dhansak mild. Lovely people.
Great traditional dining, great service and especially good to taste the massive naan breads.
Balti house just out of the city centre. BYOB with no corkage charges . Superb food all round but big thumbs up for the lamb chops. Good prices & excellent staff . Will definitely be going again. Quick tip . You might be wise to book a table no matter what time you go . We went a 6pm & got the very last table.
Dining alone on a work trip Omars didn't feel as intimidating as other nearby restaurants, but as it was the food was exceptional. Absolutely recommend it. I had Meat multani, which was succulent, exceptionally flavoursome with a rich sweet undercurrent that made the meat really sing. It was sizzling hot in the balti, with a delicious crispy edge like you get on paella. Even though I was on my own I found myself making happy foodie noises anyway it was so good!
Just as good as I remember it! I used to come here with my boyfriend (now husband) whilst we were at uni (around 2004). The curries are still absolutely delicious and the naan breads are still huge! Excellent value for money and the staff are friendly and attentive. Also, right up the road from the Alhambra theatre and not far from Broadway shopping! We will definitely be visiting again - thanks so much for the fond memories 💜 No more purple carpet though! 😂
So much choice on the menu, the staff helped with a nervous/picky 5 year old. The Naans! So big and super tasty too! Really really impressed and would visit again if we were local.
Giant naan and great curry
Came across this place as our usual place was closed, so thought we would give it a go and glad we did! The manager was brilliant as were the staff in delivering exceptional customer service, very friendly and attentive. Talked us through the menu in depth! Food was lovely, see photo's. I would recommend a visit!
We were recommended Omar's by a friend and weren't disappointed. If you are ever in the area it is definitely worth a visit. The Balti dishes are excellent and the Giant Naan is just outrageous.
Currently in a food coma! I stayed in Bradford for work and wanted a proper Bradford curry, and Omars did not disappoint. I had the Omar's Special and a garlic naan, and the pictured naan which is pillowcase sized is the standard! I took half my curry and 3/4 of my naan home, and ordered another curry to take back with me because I had all this naan and it was so delicious. I also brought my own wine which was no problem at all, and the waitress and the owner were very lovely without feeling like I was being intruded upon. I'm excited to eat Omar's at home for the next 2 days 😂 and I'll be back for more soon!
10/10 food, lovely customer service & accommodated vegan requests with lots of grace. Thank you!
Fantastic Chicken Saag Balti and Garlic Nan tonight . This place never fails. Whenever I'm passing through Bradford I always call in, I have even done special trips from Sheffield with family in the past too.Great place and where you can take your own drink also.
Best curry in Bradford by Miles. Consistently good. Staff very polite and courteous and manager always there making sure it's runs a smooth ship. Been going here for past 15 years. Never disappointed. Ever.
We came from Hull to have a 'proper curry'....Did not disappoint....food was delicious, quantity and attentiveness of staff were also very good...no complaints here... Can't wait to go back....👍
The family naan is definitely the largest i seen. The 3 curries which we ate were delicious and full of flavour.
Best food ever! Best place in Bradford if you want to go for a curry dinner. Large and delicious plates. I went with my boyfriend and order two plates (chicken biryani and chicken korma) and a garlic naan and we could take it for take away as it was massive! Were having Omar's for two days in a row! Absolutely good. The service is also very good! The prices are fantastic, very cheap for the quality of the dishes. Would recommend this before MyLahore. This place is 100% authentic. Attached is the take-away menu. Really loved it please try!
This place is lovely, visited for my partners birthday & we loved it! Great service & great food… maybe we’ll try the naan challenge next time!
A table of 12 all served wonderful food, with no mistakes or mishaps. Lovely friendly staff, outstanding food & value
First time for us to be there and we weren’t disappointed either. The naan bread meal we chose was absolutely delicious - it’s a shame it’s so far away from home otherwise we’d definitely be ordering and visiting again. The service was great and they were so pleasant and attentive. It’s licenced for you to take your own alcoholic beverages if you want to as well. Thanks Omars.
Finally an Indian restaurant with a proper spiced menu! The naans are as big or bigger than a large pizza, so beware of ordering the right size. Service is amazingly friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place.
Lovely food- we've tried most things on the menu now but best of everything (for me) is onion bhaji side dish and sharing a giant fluffy and well cooked naan, it's huge!!! My only 2 issues are 1) car parking -really difficult as I have mobility disability and never any available close by and 2) Toilet facilities are down spiral stairs - no good at all for me, so just remember a quite visit to the bathroom at home before we leave and as long as I don't drink too much, I can wait until I get back home. Definately worth a visit though, we love it! Thank you team
We had a great time. The service was very kind, very informative about the plates, and full of personalized recommendations. The food was on point. The flavor was just perfectly balanced, and intense as expected from original Kashmiri cuisine. The place's vibe is very warm and feels like home. We are definitely coming back!
Balti chicken was exceptionally nice. Also had meat Bhuna, again very good. Service via female waiter: commendable. Tandoori roti tasted, as mum used to make, traditional. Will visit again x
Had a great dinner at Omar’s while visiting Bradford! First time at a place like this and I felt really welcome. The staff were super friendly and made sure I got the right level of spice. They really took their time to help me choose. The food was tasty, portions were big, and the service was just spot on. Would definitely come back!
As part of the Thackley Curry Club this was our first visit. Very quiet for a Tuesday night. Food was good quality and the notorious naan fed six with still some left over. Excellent staff and great service. Will defo return.
We came here on a Monday evening and were the only occupied table for the majority of the evening. The food was great, the naans are massive (you'll need to share one between three of you!). Well priced and a nice, bright atmosphere. It was BYOB, which meant we grabbed a six pack from the nearby Premier shop.
Food tasty and traditional. Decor inside could be improved. The old news articles about a holiday to win from eating a nann are fun to read. No atmosphere when we went, which was mid week.
Food was good service was good naans were massive!! What let them down was the chicken tikka masala as a flavour less lump sliced. More of a takeaway style. Tika should have been grilled in cubes/ pieces
Just had a takeaway, chilli chicken, bhindi bhaji, 2 pilau rice and can drink. The chilli chicken was nice and hot and not too sweet or savoury, I do like large pieces of chilli but they had it smaller. Bhindi was good, with nice coriander, also the ladies fingers could of been bigger. Nice though. Rice looked a bit brown, I thought it was egg fried rice at first. Good service, good place to eat. Bring your own alcohol, shop 1 minutes away. All for £25
The thing with Omar's is it's a unique little place with lots of character. The service has been great the two times as of recent I've visited. Friendly staff who know their menu, their clientele and can make good recommendations based on a description of what you'd like. The food is prepared quickly and the mixed BBQ grill for 2 is fantastic. Flavoursome meat, healthy portion that truly is a great starter for two people. The value is fantastic and I'd sooner visit a humble and distinguished place like Omar's than a couple doors over at Lahores. The decor is a little dated in comparison to some of the newer establishments but you're not there for that. If you're in the area and you're looking for something a little more subdued but a nicer experience in general and a reasonable price, give Omar's a shot.
Largest naan bread in Yorkshire and they are not bluffing. Crispy and tasty naan. Fish masala is spicy and purrfect with naan. Great portions, good price.
They been opened for around 20yrs I guess. It's one of the long standing Kashmiri restaurant in Bradford. Still do amazing Balti curry and biryani as before, but for the naan I would like it a bit less soggy
Good food, poor service ! I was so disappointed with the service today. 3/4 tables occupied, but service was slow and poor, with no enthusiasm or attention. The staff did not give good service, or check to see if everything was okay. Totally poor and needs improvement.
If your craving desi food late night/midnight This is best restaurant i found so far where the taste, flavours ,authenticity and service is pretty decent. Their curries portion size is good for 2 people and prices are economical considering the portion, they are quite known for their Naan’s which I agree I would say one of the best naan I had so far in the UK. I rate 3.5/5 based on my experience and 4/5 under late night eateries.
Food was amazing and the staff on service were very welcoming and keen to help. Food came fast and tasty! The huge Naan made for an interesting challenge also. The large draw back was the owner sat two tables away from me watching YouTube videos on his phone. This hindered the experience as I was just listening to him chuckle at his videos and not being able to appreciate the atmosphere.
I went on Google whilst visiting bradford to look for a good balti house - the establishment next door was higher rated and initially this is where I visited but I wasn't happy with the look of the menu so came here (happily - as balti is my favourite) when I got there I was seated at the front of the restaurant with a group of men whilst another group were at the back this divided the noise and meant I heard the guys nearest who were swearing in conversation. I asked the waitress for if they do small nanny breads she said yes but when it came it was huge which is good if u want a big one - I didn't. The nanny bread however was the star of the show, the pilau rice had cinnamon in the balti dishes in Bradford and Leeds are not as nice as the Birmingham (original I thought - apparently not according to omars menus) direction balti houses. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great 3/5
Visiting for the night so thought we would try here. Food is pretty good flavour wise, but ignored a request for a mild version of my wife's curry. Main point was the gruff and abrasive welcome and service, definitely didn't feel welcome.
Ordered the butter Chicken and it was absolutely spot on. Really nicely cooked, and the spices were perfect. I went for a medium and it wasn’t too spicy, which was exactly what I wanted. The chips were a bit dry, which was the only downside, but everything else made up for it. The curry itself was perfect and full of flavour, and the order arrived right on time. Overall, a great meal with just one small let‑down.
The restaurant is decorated nicely, nice artwork. But the food is really below par. If it was in a seaside town or something I wouldn't be so critical. But this is Bradford, the supposed curry and culture capital. The chicken in my curry was obviously frozen chicken "tikka". The sauce tasted like jar sauce with onions added. I don't understand why it's so bad. I am sure the chefs in the back kitchen can make good food, and maybe you can ask for the staff curry. But for me and my partner they made some of the worst Currys we have had, ever, in a restaurant. It takes the same amount of effort to do it better, so they should do it better.
The curries were warm and not hot. Too much attention by the waiters, disturbing all the time. Flavour was good
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. I went to this restaurant alone, and since they were fully booked, they offered me a seat at what looked like their own staff table. I appreciated the gesture initially and thought maybe the food would make up for the informal setup. I ordered a potato paratha for £5 — sounds simple, right? What I got was a sad, dry, and almost empty piece of flatbread with hardly any trace of potato in it. No flavour, no spice (even though I specifically asked for it), nothing remotely close to what you’d expect from a proper stuffed paratha. It honestly felt like something they’d just thrown together without any care. I politely mentioned the issue, expecting maybe a remake or even just an apology. Instead, the response was incredibly rude: “Eat it or don’t pay.” Not only was the food a joke, but the attitude was even worse. I felt completely dismissed and unwelcome — as if I was the problem for pointing out that I didn’t get what I paid for. This place might survive on hype or regulars, but if you’re someone who actually cares about decent food and respectful service, I’d strongly suggest going elsewhere. There are plenty of places that serve real, flavourful parathas without treating you like a burden. Definitely not returning, and definitely not recommending to anyone.
Went here due to open until early hours but wish I had not bothered and starved. We ordered Poppadoms and pickle tray - mango chutney horrible, mint yogurt was curdled, onions tasted as if it was mixed with tomato ketchup. Chicken tikka starter - as dry as the Sahara desert!! Onion bhaji starter - looked as if it had been fried multiple of times, onions was tasteless and minimal inside. Mostly the mixture which they add to the onions. Mushroom rice - sloppy Chicken tikka masala - wasn't a masala dish at all. Hot spicy and definitely not creamy. Chicken tikka kebab - bland and dry (same as starter) Garlic and cheese naan bread - best bit about the meal!! Tasted lovely. Hate leaving bad reviews. This originally came to £49.10 but I did complain about the kebab as that was not touched after the first bite. They did take that off the bill making it £40. If you like tummy ache and poos this is the place for you, otherwise keep walking by and don't copy me and my family.
Ordered delivery and they accepted it, it was over 1 hour late before i was notified its arrived, seen the picture of the food left at the door and it was a totally different house. Contacted the shop and was told to ring back in the morning for a refund. Absolutely shocking service.
Went in here because the places that were recommended were full. What a mistake. The food came in stages so by the time I got my naan bread (which wasn’t very warm anyway) to eat my meal with, it was cold. Dreadful service with the food being virtually thrown at us. Not a smile anywhere. Awful.
Very inauthentic food. Me and my boyfriend came on a Friday night and we're expecting tasty food from one of the many restaurants in Bradford (City of Culture). We were left very disappointed by the extreme lack of flavour and effort that was put into our curries. They tasted as if they were from a cheap Aldi jar sauce with dry chicken and undercooked onions. In fact an Aldi jar sauce would have tasted better. It's so hard to find decent authentic Indian/Pakistani food these in the UK because the chefs just don't care. Not visiting again
The WORST restaurant in the whole of Bradford. We decided to go out for a meal after a long day from work. This was the only restaurant that was open so unfortunately it was the only option. It was such a terrible experience and the food looked like leftover food or something that can be cooked in just 10 minutes. Their food have no flavour, no spice, and does not look appealing at all. They have no sympathy for customers and don’t care if they didn’t like the food. Never stepping foot in here again and would like to warn anyone wanting to taste proper authentic Pakistani food to not pick this place.
