This place might have the best pizza in New York. We ordered 3 types, and my favorite pizza was chicken pizza with BBQ sauce. It was unbelievably good, think, and crusty. Just the way I like it and I love it. I recommend all pizza lovers definitely come to this place with family and friends and give it a try. It is for sure worth it
This is hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and high-quality, you can tell they really care about the ingredients. The atmosphere is also amazing. It feels open and relaxed, almost like you can breathe better in there. There’s just a really comfortable, welcoming vibe to the place. Absolutely recommend!
Touristy or not, their pizza is just that good! Well worth the wait. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait and were seated in less than 10 minutes. Great service, phenomenal pizza with the way it should be: delicious sauce, cheese and high quality toppings, perfect crust… also incredible cheesecake and cannoli… I don’t think you could go wrong with anything here!
Went here for the first time and was genuinely surprised at how delicious the pizza was. We just went back from a trip to Italy, and dare we say that this NY Pizza is better than those in Naples 🙊. Also, staff were super nice! It was my birthday just a few days back and they gave me a cheesecake on the house even though it was only the first time us going there. 10/10 would definitely come back.
We had the hot honey pepperoni pizza, and a regular cheeses. Hands down one of the best pizzas we've ever had. And we travel all over trying new pizzas. Wait staff was amazing. Hardly any wait on pizza. It was a great new place to eat on my birthday!
Absolutely worth the hype! The pizza at Grimaldi’s is just on another level — the crust is perfectly crisp, the sauce has that real fresh tomato flavor, and the cheese melts beautifully. You can really taste the wood-fired quality in every bite. The staff was friendly and fast even though it was busy, and the old-school Brooklyn atmosphere just adds to the charm. Great place to bring friends or visitors for a real NYC pizza experience!
We needed to recharge after a three hours walking tour in Brooklyn. As we entered, the inviting warmth of the restaurant. You can't beat the location or the flavor at Grimaldi's Pizzeria under the Brooklyn Bridge. We ordered the 18" split, with additional cost, featuring the signature BROOKLYN BRIDGE (ricotta, sausage, peppers--perfection!) and the beautifully simple MARGHERITA. The split was recommended by the server as we couldn't decide one toppings. The staff was wonderful! It was outstanding! Truly one of the best food experiences we had visiting New York!
Came here after waiting outside to enter another well known pizza joint nearby. At first I was a little concerned that Grimaldis would be a tourist trap at the expense of the food quality but I needn’t have worried. My 16 inch margarita pizza with mushrooms (kept it simple) came out steaming, with a crispy base and fresh tomato source. Can’t say like other reviewers whether it was the best pizza I’ve ever tasted, but it really was delicious. Servers were courteous and atmosphere nice.
Great food, long wait. We got there early (about 11:15am on a Monday) and waited 10 minutes to be seated. However, we waited over an hour for our single pizza. Once we got it, the Chef special "The Don" was delicious!!! We also tried the cannoli--with the powdered sugar, it was very sweet! Cost was incredibly reasonable...one of our cheapest restaurants, including fast food. As we left around 12:45pm, the line extended about a half a block out the door.
Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge is where the New York pizza argument starts and ends for me. Coal-fired oven thin crust that has that perfect char and chew fresh mozzarella that stretches and pulls exactly right and a tomato sauce that is bright and balanced without overpowering the cheese. This is not fancy pizza. This is not artisan pizza with truffle oil and microgreens. This is New York pizza done the way it was meant to be done and it is perfect. The line out the door is legendary and yes you will wait but the wait is part of the experience. Standing on the cobblestones of DUMBO looking up at the Brooklyn Bridge while you wait for one of the best pies in the city that is a New York moment. Cash only no slices whole pies only. You commit to the experience and the experience rewards you. The dining room is simple and packed and the energy is fantastic families tourists locals who have been coming here for decades all sitting elbow to elbow enjoying the same thing. I have eaten pizza in Naples Rome Chicago and everywhere in between. Grimaldi's holds its own against all of them. The simplicity is the genius. Great dough great sauce great cheese great oven. Do four things perfectly and you do not need a fifth. That is Grimaldi's and that is New York.
Not my first time here, and I would have given Grimaldi's a 5-star review in the past. However, I think the rumors of its decline are real. It's still solid, but no longer a must-have. The pizza lacked the almost charred, crisp crust that it once had, except perhaps on the edges. The ingredients were fine, but not exceptional. We ordered the Brooklyn Bridge and some antipasto. Our service was a touch slow, but the line moved quickly, so perhaps this was anomalous.
I’ve been coming to this pizzeria for over 20 years, and it never disappoints. The pizza always hits the spot ! Whenever friends or family visit New York, this is the one of the first places I bring them, and without fail they rave that it’s one of their favorite pizzerias. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive, and the sangria is a crowd favorite among my friends and relatives. My personal go-to is The Don, though I’ve tried every pie on the menu over the years and they’re all excellent. It’s definitely a hotspot, so expect a line out the door, especially during evening hours and weekends, but it’s worth the wait ! Parking is limited and can be a headache (you might circle for 30 minutes or more), so I highly recommend taking the subway which is less than a 10-minute walk from here. In the summer, the outdoor patio is perfect for dining, and inside is cozy year-round. Don’t be surprised if you spot a celebrity, athlete, or socialite enjoying a slice at the next table.
This was our list to revisit due to the history of the pizzeria. Waited about 20 mins were lucky to get sent to front of line since we were only 2 people. The other folks in line had larger parties. Ordered a large cheese and large white Pizza was good not mind blowing a little on the pricey side. There's to many amazing pizzerias in NYC. It's a must visit once at least just for the history of this place it self.
We had an early lunch here on a Saturday after spending the morning at the Brooklyn Flea Market. We were seated immediately as soon as we arrived, no waiting time. We ordered the Brooklyn Bridge pizza and it was delicious and cooked perfectly! We also had a trio of their desserts. The tiramisu was good, but I highly recommend their NY style cheesecake. I would come again just for that honestly.
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in Brooklyn remains a go-to spot for classic New York-style pizza in a vibrant and historic setting under the Brooklyn Bridge. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a bustling, old-school pizzeria charm that adds to the overall experience. There’s usually a line outside, but don’t let that discourage you—it moves surprisingly fast and is worth the short wait. The food is definitely the highlight. We ordered a half-and-half pizza—pineapple on one side, pepperoni on the other—and it was delicious as always. The crust is perfectly crisp, the sauce tangy, and the toppings fresh and flavorful. We also ordered a Caprese salad, which, interestingly, arrived after the pizza. While the timing was a bit off, the salad was fresh and tasty. To drink, we had sangria, which was fruity and well-balanced—not too sweet, and a great complement to the meal. The sodas come with free refills, which is a nice touch, especially if you're dining in. Where Grimaldi’s falls short is the service. It’s not terrible, but it could definitely be improved. Staff seemed rushed and not particularly attentive, and the timing of the dishes could have been better coordinated. That said, the quality of the food makes up for the service issues, especially considering the affordable prices. Overall, Grimaldi’s is a solid choice for pizza lovers looking for a classic Brooklyn experience. While the service could use some polish, the great food, reasonable prices, and iconic atmosphere make it worth a visit.
Grimaldi’s serves traditional coal-fired brick oven pizza. This is the most famous Grimaldi’s location, right next door to its original location. I tried the Brooklyn Bridge, which comes with roasted red peppers, creamy ricotta, Italian sausage, mozzarella, and a tomato sauce base, and The Don, topped with Italian sausage, meatballs, pepperoni, mozzarella, and tomato sauce. The ricotta on the Brooklyn Bridge wasn’t really my thing, but The Don was delicious. I also had their red sangria, which was very refreshing, and finished off with the Oreo cheesecake for dessert. Highly recommend! They offer three pizza sizes: 12”, 16”, and 18”. We ordered two 18-inch pizzas to share between four people. Even though my friends were pretty hungry, we still ended up with leftovers. In hindsight, two 16-inch pizzas would’ve been the perfect amount. We went on a Saturday around 3 p.m. and waited about 30 minutes outside before being seated, so definitely expect a line if you visit on the weekend.
Recently, I had the chance to visit this well-known pizzeria under Brooklyn Bridge. I had the best pizza of my life! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, definitely a great spot. However, the service was disappointing. I had to ask for the bill twice and ended up waiting 30 minutes, so in the end, I went to the bar to pay myself. Everything was just too slow. That said, I still recommend this place and will definitely come back but plan your time accordingly!
What disappointing experience. This NYC pizza icon has really gone on the decline. To sum it up the place was dingy and dirty, the pizza was well done on top and doughy and under cooked on the bottom, the sauce had very little flavor. They used to drizzle a little olive oil on the pie before bringing it out, I guess they don't do that any more and the soda was flat. The only bright spot was the service, the waitress was very nice and attentive but even the good service is not enough to go back to this place. Double thumbs down for this place 👎👎🍕🍕
