Opinions de Grimaldi's Pizza Broadway
Probably the best pizza ever. We got two large pizzas, one the regular with sausage and onion, and the other we got a white pizza and added chicken. It was so amazing. The building was super cute, old, and just added to the whole experience. It gave it a home-y feeling and the staff were all friendly. Will definitely be back on my next visit to Brooklyn.
An iconic pizza restaurant located at the foot of the Brooklyn bridge. Has been at this place for at least 25 years. I recall going here as a little kid. They have a true brick oven. There's plenty of seating to accommodate larger parties. The wait can be a few minutes to get into the place if trying to be seated with big groups. The facility is very busy. They also have a bar. The service is quick and efficient. The bathrooms are very nice and clean. There's a large variety of pizza. Very famous place. Would highly recommend when at the Brooklyn bridge area.
Our first and best choice Pizza ever! Pesto pizza is delicious! Grimaldi’s crust and coal brick brings unique taste to Pizza lovers. Brooklyn Grimaldi’s is in our wishlist for so long, we were able to make it in summer 2023. Since this place is highly demanded, expect 20-30mins wait time. Luckily this restaurant is 3 stories building, they serve quick to make the next customer wait time less. If you are in Brooklyn area, this is a must try, don’t miss it 👌 Parking: Hard to find street parking, but there is parking garage 1 block away and a quick 2mins walk to restaurant. $25/parking
The place is a Brooklyn staple, short walk from Dumbo which has become a key tourist site. I believe they open at 5:00pm sharp, so there is a line forming about 30min in advance which moves very quickly once they open, I think it’s worth the wait. The pizza is great and you can really taste the brick oven. We got 2 large pies for a party of 4 and it was a good measure. One pepperoni, one Margherita, can’t go wrong.
Highly recommend making your way to this pizzeria to try out their pizza! We ordered the 18’’ margherita. We decided to order the most basic pizza to check if it is any good. A lot of times, people try to add so many things onto a pizza to confuse consumers. We believe that if their basic pizza is delicious, then the rest should be equally awesome. And they delivered! We were very satisfied with their pizza. We were not that hungry going there, but we finished everything to the last bits. Would go back there again when I am back in NYC to try out other pizza on their menu!
Line out the door! But very quickly accommodated. Unfortunately we got some dirty silverware with our table. The manager was very on top of everything and was present and interactive. Food was quick. Shared an antipasto and a large Brooklyn Bridge pizza. The pizza was everything it should be 🤌 Had a chocolate cannoli and a traditional one. If you don't like too sweet, def go with the traditional. Overall love the place.
Proper wood-fired pizza. Known as one of New York's three evacuees. The taste is guaranteed to live up to its reputation. but! Be aware in advance that the wait will be long! The store consists of 1.2 floors, and there is an old oven on the first floor. In front of you, you can meet a pizza artisan making pizza with skill as if you were watching a live performance. I ordered Margherita pepperoni, which is the most basic dish, but you can also order half and half. It may feel a little salty to Koreans, but the crunchy and savory taste of dough baked in an oven will linger in your mouth for a long time. This is the perfect place to walk the Brooklyn Bridge and fill your hungry stomach. This is a place I want to go again.
We love eating here. The pizza always hits the spot and we have never had a bad experience. We got lucky today, there was no line outside.
Ok, well, I ❤️ Grimaldi's. I'm a Brooklyn native, so I was introduced to it by my Parents, who used to go out on "date nights" there before they got married because my Mother (who was from an Jewish-Italian family) ❤️'d their 🍕. We also ate there as a family fairly semi-frequently. Ok, so, I think the MOST fun time I ever had at Grimaldi's was during the night of my Senior Prom actually. It was June, 1991 & my three friends and I had gone to Prom together and we had our limo driver stop at Grimaldi's on our way back into Brooklyn from the South Street Seaport in Manhattan because our Prom Dinner & Dance had been held onboard the "Spirit of New York" NYC harbor cruise ship, and that was a LOT of fun, and a great venue for a Senior Prom actually. We were also all a bit drunk from celebrating 🥳, so Grimaldi's soaked up the booze. 🤣 It was a fun night.
Amazing tasting brick oven pizza. We had the Brooklyn Bridge Pizza, which we highly recommend, and the extra pepperoni pizza really didn't have extra pepperoni but I would say just a normal amount. I do not recommend their Capress salad because It was not well made, it did not have basil nor balsamic vinegar so it was more like cheese and tomatoes salad.
The place is fantastic, located right next to the Brooklyn Bridge, which has a nice view of the city! The servers are extremely nice and the pizza is delicious. During the summer we usually order a 16 inch pizza which is a perfect size for 2 people and we take it to go and eat it near the pier. But since it's still really cold out, we decided to eat indoors for the first time, and it was a bit of a long wait for 2 people it was about a 30 minute wait, but everything was delicious and we will definitely be coming back in the summer to order a pie to go!
I love this pizzeria to the moon and back, and I will glaze it to the day I die. Best pizza I've ever had, came crispy and fresh. The restaurant looked amazing and the whole place smelled delicious. Even the bathrooms were nice. Only complaint is that the service took some time, but there were probably 200 people inside, so it's not a problem. It was top-notch stuff. Absolute cuisine. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The food is just OMG!!!! We had chicken ceasar salad , a pie of regular pizza with extra cheese and margarita pie .. the thin crust , the sauce , the cheese just YUMMY!!! Not the first time here , every time we are in Dumbo we have lunch/dinner at Grimaldi's .. super fresh, fast and amazing service!!!!
Did pick up thru door dash and was lucky to have a few deals to use. Order just the Margherita Pizza and it was exactly what you would expect. A damn good NY pizza. It's a shame when you pick up that it's luke warm by the time you walk home (at best). We arrived right at the time they said it would be done and it was already ready to go. Fortunately they had it sitting in their warmer. It would be a nice touch if they notified you if it was done earlier. Crust was nice and crispy. Pizza sauce was really good. The dough had a really nice flavor. Would pick up again when craving pizza! Can’t comment on atmosphere Since we picked up. I know there is always a line when I walk by.
Enjoy the delicious pizza at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, Brooklyn and make your New York tour memorable. Grimaldi’s Pizzeria serves traditional coal-fired brick oven pizza using pizza-making traditions that is said to have originated in Brooklyn over 100 years ago thereby delivering an authentic taste that’s not found in conventional oven pizza. Ofcourse, one may have to wait for an hour or so to get a table as the restaurant is normally crowded with pizza lovers.
Every time I passed by this place the line was out the door and around the block so I never bothered trying to eat here. One day, I just happened to pass by and there was no line so I quickly ran in and got a table. I ordered a standard pepperoni pizza just to see what all the buzz was about and immediately found out when the pizza came. It was really good. I can understand why everyone waits hours to eat here.
"Just had an amazing experience at Grimaldi's Pizzeria! The service was top-notch - we were seated right away and got to choose from any available table. Our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered the plain large pepperoni pizza, and it arrived within 15 minutes. The pizza was delicious, with a perfect balance of cheese and pepperoni. Highly recommend Grimaldi's for great food and awesome service!"
Walked the Brooklyn bridge on a gorgeous winter day over to Grimaldi’s. Had a couple of great pizzas - one gluten-free, one regular traditional red sauce pizza. Both outstanding. It was a quiet day, and got to visit with our server, Ralph, who has been with the restaurant for many years. We really enjoyed chatting with him - he had some great menu suggestions, and shared some fantastic history of Grimaldi’s and the neighborhood. What a treat! Don’t miss this NY tradition - and ask for Ralph!
I'm happy that this is the first pizza place we went to in New York! We ordered the Brooklyn Bridge and Exxtra Pepperoni and Hot Honey, and the second option is a must try. The service was great, and our food was served in 10 to 15 minutes. If you're in Brooklyn, this is the perfect spot to grab a pizza. 👌🏻
Exceptional Service During Our Work Lunch! We stopped into Grimaldi for a work lunch, and Alex was absolutely exceptional. He took great care of our group — attentive, friendly, and on top of every detail without ever feeling rushed. He made the experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. If you’re planning a lunch outing or just looking for great service, Alex is the one to ask for. Highly recommend!
Not sure if I will ever be able to experience having this beloved pizza in my yearning hands again. When I was a kid me and my first love whom is passed now, we used to buy a pie and sit by the bridge and just have the most nostalgic perfect moments that are etched in my memories forever. Not only do I remember Grimaldi’s Pizza being the BEST pizza I have ever tasted by far, BUT Every slice of Pizza since has been an UTTER heart wrenching disappointment. Just to taste it once more is and will forever be on my bucket list. Thanks for the experience from an Era I will Never forget.
If you’re looking for the best pizza from NYC (and not only) you should stop. This is the perfect place. My second time here as a tourist (4 years between visits) and still the best pizza. The staff is really friendly, the place is clean. If you don’t want to wait in queue you should book a table. The waiting is not too long if you’re group is small or if you don’t bother to stay at the bar (we did). You should definitely try it! ❤️
BEST CHEESECAKE EVER!!! The cheesecake is so creamy, fluffy and perfectly sweet. It is more like authentic Italian, rather than being a NY style cheesecake. But that is a good thing! I would also like to add that I had the best pizza of my life 🍕 here!!! 😃 We got the large pizza 1/2 white & 1/2 Margherita with pepperoni & roasted red peppers.
We live in Vegas, and with all of the spots here for pizza, most likely a hundred choices... our favorite is hands down, Grimaldi's. So we were at the US Open tennis finals this week in NY, and took the ride over to Brooklyn to go to the original Grimaldi's. Id been thinking about it all week, and WOW, it didn't disappoint! The building and decor was so cool, but the pizza is like no other, it's an absolute must stop if you're anywhere near. My favorite has always been "The Don"...quality ingredients is everything, have them throw the basil on after the cook.
One of the best experiences we’ve had! On a hot day with a long lineup, the staff kindly offered us a spot at the bar, which we gladly accepted. We enjoyed amazing appetizers, delicious pizza, and perfectly chilled white wine and beer. The pizza was unforgettable—one of the best we’ve ever had! The location near Brooklen Bright is fantastic, making it a must-visit. Highly recommended!
We really enjoyed our visit to Grimaldi’s Pizzeria. We ordered the margarita, the Don, and the traditional with grilled cheese. FYI the Don is similar to the meat lovers and comes with pretty big sausage which are a little spicy. Overall, the hostess and server were helpful, friendly, and professional.
This place might have the best pizza in New York. We ordered 3 types, and my favorite pizza was chicken pizza with BBQ sauce. It was unbelievably good, think, and crusty. Just the way I like it and I love it. I recommend all pizza lovers definitely come to this place with family and friends and give it a try. It is for sure worth it
This is hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and high-quality, you can tell they really care about the ingredients. The atmosphere is also amazing. It feels open and relaxed, almost like you can breathe better in there. There’s just a really comfortable, welcoming vibe to the place. Absolutely recommend!
Touristy or not, their pizza is just that good! Well worth the wait. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait and were seated in less than 10 minutes. Great service, phenomenal pizza with the way it should be: delicious sauce, cheese and high quality toppings, perfect crust… also incredible cheesecake and cannoli… I don’t think you could go wrong with anything here!
Went here for the first time and was genuinely surprised at how delicious the pizza was. We just went back from a trip to Italy, and dare we say that this NY Pizza is better than those in Naples 🙊. Also, staff were super nice! It was my birthday just a few days back and they gave me a cheesecake on the house even though it was only the first time us going there. 10/10 would definitely come back.
We had the hot honey pepperoni pizza, and a regular cheeses. Hands down one of the best pizzas we've ever had. And we travel all over trying new pizzas. Wait staff was amazing. Hardly any wait on pizza. It was a great new place to eat on my birthday!
Absolutely worth the hype! The pizza at Grimaldi’s is just on another level — the crust is perfectly crisp, the sauce has that real fresh tomato flavor, and the cheese melts beautifully. You can really taste the wood-fired quality in every bite. The staff was friendly and fast even though it was busy, and the old-school Brooklyn atmosphere just adds to the charm. Great place to bring friends or visitors for a real NYC pizza experience!
We needed to recharge after a three hours walking tour in Brooklyn. As we entered, the inviting warmth of the restaurant. You can't beat the location or the flavor at Grimaldi's Pizzeria under the Brooklyn Bridge. We ordered the 18" split, with additional cost, featuring the signature BROOKLYN BRIDGE (ricotta, sausage, peppers--perfection!) and the beautifully simple MARGHERITA. The split was recommended by the server as we couldn't decide one toppings. The staff was wonderful! It was outstanding! Truly one of the best food experiences we had visiting New York!
Came here after waiting outside to enter another well known pizza joint nearby. At first I was a little concerned that Grimaldis would be a tourist trap at the expense of the food quality but I needn’t have worried. My 16 inch margarita pizza with mushrooms (kept it simple) came out steaming, with a crispy base and fresh tomato source. Can’t say like other reviewers whether it was the best pizza I’ve ever tasted, but it really was delicious. Servers were courteous and atmosphere nice.
Great food, long wait. We got there early (about 11:15am on a Monday) and waited 10 minutes to be seated. However, we waited over an hour for our single pizza. Once we got it, the Chef special "The Don" was delicious!!! We also tried the cannoli--with the powdered sugar, it was very sweet! Cost was incredibly reasonable...one of our cheapest restaurants, including fast food. As we left around 12:45pm, the line extended about a half a block out the door.
Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge is where the New York pizza argument starts and ends for me. Coal-fired oven thin crust that has that perfect char and chew fresh mozzarella that stretches and pulls exactly right and a tomato sauce that is bright and balanced without overpowering the cheese. This is not fancy pizza. This is not artisan pizza with truffle oil and microgreens. This is New York pizza done the way it was meant to be done and it is perfect. The line out the door is legendary and yes you will wait but the wait is part of the experience. Standing on the cobblestones of DUMBO looking up at the Brooklyn Bridge while you wait for one of the best pies in the city that is a New York moment. Cash only no slices whole pies only. You commit to the experience and the experience rewards you. The dining room is simple and packed and the energy is fantastic families tourists locals who have been coming here for decades all sitting elbow to elbow enjoying the same thing. I have eaten pizza in Naples Rome Chicago and everywhere in between. Grimaldi's holds its own against all of them. The simplicity is the genius. Great dough great sauce great cheese great oven. Do four things perfectly and you do not need a fifth. That is Grimaldi's and that is New York.
They opened 11:30 and we were out there at 11:05am as like the 10th person/5th group. The pizza is good/great but not amazing. I had to deduce for the service and atmosphere because it. It was 85-90 degrees F outside, and it felt better to be seated outside than to be seated inside. I wish they could have told us. There was no airflow, and my wife and I were sweating purfusely. We ordered a large Margherita pizza and a large Brooklyn Bridge and the regular and chocolate cannoli. We had 1 adult male, 2 adult females, and 2 toddlers and finished everything being content/really full. Taste wise, we preferred the Margherita pizza over the Brooklyn Bridge even tho it had meat. This pizza was the closest to the pizza I had in Italy. Cannoli was crispy and not soggy, and the cream wasn't too overbearing. The service is so slow they don't fill all the tables because they can't serve everyone so that's why they have such a long time. It took us nearly 2 hours to finish our meal and pay. Next time, I'd probably take out and eat by the Bridge or park.
The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is inviting and simple. I will be honest: the pizza could be better. It was dry for my taste and really salty because of the chosen cheese to put on top (house choice). The knife doesn’t cut the food lol (I don’t like to eat using hands; personal preference). I was expecting a more juicy food, but sadly that was not the case. We ordered the 4 cheeses and the prosciutto with arugula. Both flavors dry, no sauce! I will not come back, but it’s worth the experience.
The pizza tasted very good, had good portions of sauce and cheese. Even the crust was decent in flavor. We had ours delivered which was a mistake because it was cold at arrival. That said, the taste was still good but I'd recommend eating in rather than delivery.. since hot delivery is apparently not an option.
Pretty good pizza but way too overpriced for what it is. Tables are crammed together on the upstairs portion of the restaurant and we didn't get menus for a solid ten minutes. Despite this, the pizza is pretty good. The cheese and sauce is flavorful and the crust was on the thinner side and had a nice fluff and crunch to it. Toppings tasted high quality but adding them on can get pricey.
It's one of the most famous Brooklyn pizzeria. Right next to juliana's. Don't be surprised to see long queue outside the restaurant during peak hours and holiday times. They only accept cash and no credit card. There are many atm within the restaurant so debit card should do the work. The pizza is as expected - delicious. I liked their traditional but more than that their white sauce with garlic is pretty amazing. Pizza size is pretty good and one 16 inch can serve 2-3 people.
Other than the hostess or 'security guard' whom was a very serious looking lady, not friendly and helpful at all, rest of the experience was good. For lunch, they closed at 4pm, but would kinda stop accepting walk-in or orders probably around 3.20pm to 3.30pm (same goes for Juliana's pizza and I was there prior and the staff did not even bother asking or at least try). I arrived at that time and decided to opt for takeaway. The lady staff manning the counter was really sweet and she offered to check with kitchen if they can still made one pizza for me. Needless to say, it was a go ahead. What I really like was that they have a large warmer to place in all takeaway orders making sure the freshness and hotness was still as good as dining in. The nice lady personally brought the pizza to me and needless to say, well deserved tips for her. Brought the pizza and ate it by the river under the nice and very hot summer weather. Like the tomato and cheese ratio and surprise of all, really enjoy the dough. It was very chewy and savoury, and definitely one of the best or even the best pizza dough I ever had. This is the first time ever that I actually finished eating the entire pizza by myself , and including the dough (usually I will leave the dough and not eat it towards the last 2-3 pieces or entirely if the dough does not taste good). Highly recommend to check this place out, and enjoy it outdoor during the hotter months. And if you ask me Grimaldi's or Juliana's if you can only go for one, definitely Grimaldi's as service was better than Juliana's based on this experience.
Food was good but I’ve had it before and I remember it being better. Very well seasoned but it came out a little colder than I would have liked - as if it had been sitting for a while before the waiter noticed it should be taken to our table. We were seated quickly but the service overall was a bit slow - and the place didn’t seem particularly busy, so not sure why that was. Got my drink before the food and I was hoping for a refill but didn’t get one until just before we boxed our food up. We got their margherita and the Don (meat lovers). Both were good I just remember it being better last time I was here. Perhaps just an off night. The atmosphere was family friendly and a nice place to have some pizza.
Classic Brooklyn spot. Been coming since the early 2000s when the line wrapped around the block and the space felt smaller and more old-school. It’s much bigger now, so the vibe’s a little different — but the pizza still hits. Service was solid, even on a freezing Super Bowl afternoon. 🍕
I'd say a decade ago the debate between Grimaldi's and Lombardi's raged, but it's sort of simmered as they've gone their separate ways in terms of business. Large chain vs traditional cash on local spot. Both are successful, but to me differ vastly in end product. Lombari's claim to be the oldest pizzeria is not in question and the fact they are still coal fired is becoming more and more unique so it's quite good. Grimaldi's is also coal fired and quite good, but I feel is a little more muted in flavors. Some call it simplicity, some call it muted. I call it light. Their red sauce is simple, bright. Cheese is light and has good chew and stretch. Low moisure. The dough is well proofed and has good chew and crunch, but doesn't leopard as much as others. Their other popular pie is the white garlic which tbh could use more garlic, maybe doesn't need the olive oil. I'd prefer some roasted garlic, some fresh garlic. The spice blend is forgettable. I'm more a fan of a marg than a pesto as the garlic again doesn't come thru and the pesto is a little over worked, doesn't work as well without nuts. The duo has enough toppings that it doesn't feel unfilling. The Brooklyn Bridge is balanced with bright peppers, toothsome sausage, creamy ricotta. The don they cook a little more to handle the heavy meats added. I've never liked arugula on pizza, so i never get it. No one puts arugula on a charcuterie board. Rewards, specials, franchising. Definitly pivoted away from what most NY pizza places do. The DUMBO location is great both inside and out, welcoming, far more modern than most. Service is decent, but def lose some of the culture of a family owned and operated place. Prices are really ebbed with the time while you can mnow find excellent pizza at an affordable price, so really where is the inflated prices going. I'm not a fan of the wine pairing suggestions, while accurate it's sort of not how pizza was ever meant to be eaten. This isn't Billions from HBO. There are better placed to get canoli and cheesecake, but if your trying to see the difference between coal fired pizza and others you can certainly come here. If your not from NY this is excellent, but if your into pizza (been to Detroit, New Haven and the other top spots in NYC). You're not coming here often and not sending your friends from out of town here. It's good, but lacks soul.
The pizza is absolutely iconic!! So delicious and the best in New York! Some things to note if this is your first visit: No reservations. Just find the line out front and someone will walk around and get your name and # of people in your party. Between 4pm and 5pm, they stop serving pizza as they stoke their coal fire ovens, cleaning it out and replacing it with new coal. If you're dining in and plan on ordering pizza to take home, you will need to let the server know this. We were not aware when we ate here, and therefore couldn't order a pie of pizza to take home (we wanted to bring some back with us for friends). The lack of communication of this from the server was disappointing. A "last call before we close the ovens" would have been nice. And especially since we were sitting right beside the kitchen area. The service is mid at best. We were neglected once our order was taken, waited 45 min for our food (no problem there because it's a busy place and we did order 2 pies) and did not see our server again until we needed our check and some slices wrapped up. Overall, come for the pizza. Don't expect superb service. And take out is an option and probably a better one, as long as it's before 4pm and after 5pm.
Very thin crust and tasted more like a cracker crust than Very thin crust and tasted more like a cracker crust than traditional NY. Nor did we taste the coal fired crust. Tried the place next door and while Grimaldi's sauce was better, Juliana's crust was much more of what I was expecting and preferred theirs. Well at least I was able to check something off the bucket list. Note and pro tip: they close from 4-5pm and even though I ordered online around 3:30, pizza wasn't ready until after 5pm. Update: I updated to four stars because I appreciated the sincere response. While my review is true to my feelings, I did enjoy my pizza. Any business willing to take feedback is worth a 2nd chance and hope to do so soon. Will try to make it inside for a fresh pie next time. Thanks!
Underwhelmed considering their reputation. I got half margherita and half arugula prosciutto white pizza. The margherita was good especially their tomato sauce but the prosciutto arugula pizza was way too salty. The crust was also so crispy and a little burnt. Their trio bruschetta was good and the bread was soft and chewy.
Another place with multiple recommendations that lived upto the expectation. Great pizza, good service at this place. I went alone when I was visiting NY and soon realised I won’t be able to finish the single pizza myself. If was definitely very good tho. They are award winning pizza and it was amazing to try the pizza there. The staff were good took care of how I was the entire time. Must visit if in New York!
We had a good experience at Grimaldi’s Pizza! We ordered a customized medium pizza with pesto sauce, black olives, onions, and mushrooms, and it was good. The flavors were well-balanced, and the crust had that authentic, classic pizza feel. For dessert, we tried the chocolate cannoli, which was very good—crispy, creamy. Overall, it was a decent dining experience with great pizza and delicious dessert. Would suggest this place to people who are looking to have authentic Italian type of pizzas
Me and my friends were in Brooklyn and decided to finally try the famous Grimaldi’s. I had heard so much about it from different people and figured it was time to see what the hype was about. We got there around 3 PM without any reservation and were seated right away, which was a nice surprise. We ordered a Margherita pizza and another one that was half white with garlic sauce, olives, and jalapeños, and the other half with spicy chicken sausage, and jalapeños. The Margherita was simple but really tasty, while the spicy chicken sausage side completely stole the show. It had the perfect amount of heat, balanced really well with the other toppings, and the crust was just the right mix of crispy and chewy. The place also had a cool and relaxed vibe. I’d definitely come back whenever I’m in the area again.
Not my first time here, and I would have given Grimaldi's a 5-star review in the past. However, I think the rumors of its decline are real. It's still solid, but no longer a must-have. The pizza lacked the almost charred, crisp crust that it once had, except perhaps on the edges. The ingredients were fine, but not exceptional. We ordered the Brooklyn Bridge and some antipasto. Our service was a touch slow, but the line moved quickly, so perhaps this was anomalous.
I’ve been coming to this pizzeria for over 20 years, and it never disappoints. The pizza always hits the spot ! Whenever friends or family visit New York, this is the one of the first places I bring them, and without fail they rave that it’s one of their favorite pizzerias. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive, and the sangria is a crowd favorite among my friends and relatives. My personal go-to is The Don, though I’ve tried every pie on the menu over the years and they’re all excellent. It’s definitely a hotspot, so expect a line out the door, especially during evening hours and weekends, but it’s worth the wait ! Parking is limited and can be a headache (you might circle for 30 minutes or more), so I highly recommend taking the subway which is less than a 10-minute walk from here. In the summer, the outdoor patio is perfect for dining, and inside is cozy year-round. Don’t be surprised if you spot a celebrity, athlete, or socialite enjoying a slice at the next table.
This was our list to revisit due to the history of the pizzeria. Waited about 20 mins were lucky to get sent to front of line since we were only 2 people. The other folks in line had larger parties. Ordered a large cheese and large white Pizza was good not mind blowing a little on the pricey side. There's to many amazing pizzerias in NYC. It's a must visit once at least just for the history of this place it self.
We had an early lunch here on a Saturday after spending the morning at the Brooklyn Flea Market. We were seated immediately as soon as we arrived, no waiting time. We ordered the Brooklyn Bridge pizza and it was delicious and cooked perfectly! We also had a trio of their desserts. The tiramisu was good, but I highly recommend their NY style cheesecake. I would come again just for that honestly.
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in Brooklyn remains a go-to spot for classic New York-style pizza in a vibrant and historic setting under the Brooklyn Bridge. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a bustling, old-school pizzeria charm that adds to the overall experience. There’s usually a line outside, but don’t let that discourage you—it moves surprisingly fast and is worth the short wait. The food is definitely the highlight. We ordered a half-and-half pizza—pineapple on one side, pepperoni on the other—and it was delicious as always. The crust is perfectly crisp, the sauce tangy, and the toppings fresh and flavorful. We also ordered a Caprese salad, which, interestingly, arrived after the pizza. While the timing was a bit off, the salad was fresh and tasty. To drink, we had sangria, which was fruity and well-balanced—not too sweet, and a great complement to the meal. The sodas come with free refills, which is a nice touch, especially if you're dining in. Where Grimaldi’s falls short is the service. It’s not terrible, but it could definitely be improved. Staff seemed rushed and not particularly attentive, and the timing of the dishes could have been better coordinated. That said, the quality of the food makes up for the service issues, especially considering the affordable prices. Overall, Grimaldi’s is a solid choice for pizza lovers looking for a classic Brooklyn experience. While the service could use some polish, the great food, reasonable prices, and iconic atmosphere make it worth a visit.
Grimaldi’s serves traditional coal-fired brick oven pizza. This is the most famous Grimaldi’s location, right next door to its original location. I tried the Brooklyn Bridge, which comes with roasted red peppers, creamy ricotta, Italian sausage, mozzarella, and a tomato sauce base, and The Don, topped with Italian sausage, meatballs, pepperoni, mozzarella, and tomato sauce. The ricotta on the Brooklyn Bridge wasn’t really my thing, but The Don was delicious. I also had their red sangria, which was very refreshing, and finished off with the Oreo cheesecake for dessert. Highly recommend! They offer three pizza sizes: 12”, 16”, and 18”. We ordered two 18-inch pizzas to share between four people. Even though my friends were pretty hungry, we still ended up with leftovers. In hindsight, two 16-inch pizzas would’ve been the perfect amount. We went on a Saturday around 3 p.m. and waited about 30 minutes outside before being seated, so definitely expect a line if you visit on the weekend.
Recently, I had the chance to visit this well-known pizzeria under Brooklyn Bridge. I had the best pizza of my life! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, definitely a great spot. However, the service was disappointing. I had to ask for the bill twice and ended up waiting 30 minutes, so in the end, I went to the bar to pay myself. Everything was just too slow. That said, I still recommend this place and will definitely come back but plan your time accordingly!
Great and well-known pizzeria in New York. We had lunch here and ordered a 16-inch pizza to be shared. Unfortunately, the first pizza was lukewarm, and we did not enjoy it too much. We ordered a second one, which was warmer, but still not hot, hot, directly fresh from the oven as at other pizzerias. I suspect they must be waiting too long at the counter or otherwise cools down on the way from the oven on the ground floor to the restaurant on the first floor. This requires fixing for us to fully enjoy their pizza s which are well made.
I was at Grimaldi's previously, 10 years ago and remembered it much differently. During the latest visit, almost everything felt off. The pizza tasted very average, dry and simply not impressive at all. The service was slow, unhelpful, confused by simple requests such as asking for the replacement of cheese, spilled wine on me twice.. however in the end fulfilled all requests as requested. Restaurant was half empty which probably added to the bad atmosphere but the most important aspect of the whole experience comes down to the taste and quality of pizza, which in this instance was very underwhelming. I had a pizza slice randomly on the street yesterday much better than here today. I am just confused how the quality differs from the last time I was here.
The pizza is extremely dry, not just mine but all the ones I saw that evening; the dough is completely average, and due to the high temperature of the oven, all the ingredients are tasteless. The only thing that is nice is that the place has history, and that's all. The service is quite average. You have another pizzeria next door, try it and you'll see the difference.
Great Pizza, but do NOT get delivery. Joke of a system. Ordered my pizza 2 hours ago (on a Sunday @5:15pm) and it’s still not here. Despite ordering through their website, orders are fulfilled by uber, and you have no way of contacting uber support. Can’t wait to get my $50 cold and soggy pizza now!!
What disappointing experience. This NYC pizza icon has really gone on the decline. To sum it up the place was dingy and dirty, the pizza was well done on top and doughy and under cooked on the bottom, the sauce had very little flavor. They used to drizzle a little olive oil on the pie before bringing it out, I guess they don't do that any more and the soda was flat. The only bright spot was the service, the waitress was very nice and attentive but even the good service is not enough to go back to this place. Double thumbs down for this place 👎👎🍕🍕
Ordered lemon arugula salad and half and half pizza (margherita and pepperoni hot honey) with two sodas for $65. Salad was way too sour. Pizza was served warm/room temp and taste was mid. Also asked for water and didn’t get it. Waitress didn’t seem like she wanted to work and that I was bothering her when I asked for something. Fast service but low quality
This is how my pizza was delivered. It was cold, stale, and the pizza was cut improperly. I'm not sure how this place is as rated as it is. You can find $1 slices literally anywhere that are better than this garbage. Take that and the fact that I paid $45 for this order... I want my money back.
