Opinions de Inga's Bar Brooklyn
This place is a true escape. A warm, welcoming atmosphere where time slows down and you’re invited to truly enjoy the moment. The food is outstanding. Refined, flavorful, and crafted with real passion. Every detail feels intentional, from the dishes to the genuine kindness of the staff. A beautiful pause from fast-paced life. Highly recommended.
We had one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Everything we had was delicious. The wine list was also great, and the service was incredibly attentive. Can't recommend this place enough. The poached pear dessert was heavenly. Can't wait to go back!
A cozy, old-school New York-style tavern with a great burger. But it's way better than Red Hook tavern and not nearly as hard to get a reservation! Couldn't recommend this place enough.
Dinner at Ingas Bar was lovely! It wasn't perfect, but I loved the coziness of the restaurant and food was overall fantastic. It will definitely be a go to spot in our neighborhood. The good: gem salad, octopus, burger, and the poached pear dessert (which I think might be a seasonal item). The octopus was amazing - it may have been my favorite octopus dish I've ever tried. Not the best: the roasted chicken was too salty for me. I would skip this item. Service wasn't bad but it wasn't the best. It was fast/efficient but the way our server put down our starters felt off (like I wasn't sure if they wanted me to take the plate from their hands or if they were going to put it down) and they seemed kind of annoyed. It was a packed and busy restaurant so I get it.
I came here for the first time for brunch (before heading over to St. Ann’s Warehouse for a show). We wanted to avoid the tourist spots near the waterfront. This was the perfect spot. The atmosphere was cosy and lively. The food and drinks were wonderful-highly recommend the bitter leaf salad and Brooklyn daisy cocktail. What made this experience stand apart was the excellent service. Our server, Cassidy was friendly and attentive. Now I have to go back for dinner!! Highly recommend.
I love this place! Reliably good. The food is solid, and the atmosphere is amazing. Perfect place to bring your parents. Perfect place for a nice birthday dinner. Perfect place for a cheeky little date. So versatile!!! Dark wood, beautiful bar, nice servers, dim lighting, beautiful space on the most perfect block in Bk heights. Went on a date here with someone new I was seeing....and we may have proceeded to have the best night ever!!!!!! Ingas got us off on the RIGHT foot. Muahaha
Inga’s is the perfect middle ground between fine dining and a classic American bar. The decor is effortlessly cool with vintage prints lining the walls. The space is open, with a large dining room and a semi-secluded bar area towards the back. Tables in the dining room are quite cozy, so prepare to be close to your neighbors. Moody lighting and votive candles add to the intimate feel. The food is delicious, boasting unexpectedly complex flavors without being pretentious. We shared a bunch of small plates, two entrees, and a dessert (Beef Tartare, Fluke Crudo, Agnolotti, Duck Breast, Steak Au Poivre and Olive Oil Cake). The agnolotti with butternut squash and hazelnuts may be seasonal but if it is on the menu when you go, it’s a MUST. Literally to die for. Highly recommend Inga’s if you’re looking for a spot to grab dinner in Brooklyn Heights.
Our third visit here, and the food and atmosphere never disappoint. With 4 of us coming, we make an early reservation (they had no tables from 6:30-9:30!). We were greeted warmly by the hostess and had a round of wines (nice selections by the glass). The tomato toast appetizer was a crisp and refreshing way to start off our meal. We ordered the halibut (tender, juicy, & flavorful over a bed of corn, kidney beans and tomatoes) and chicken schnitzel (surprisingly tender chicken - these are so easy to overcook!). Both dishes were fantastic! We finished with their homemade key lime pie, a favorite of ours, and I think the best in Brooklyn. Inga's Bar has become a wonderful local restaurant we have no trouble recommending or bringing good friends to. Well done!
Came across Inga’s walking around the neighborhood one evening and came back on a Tuesday night. It’s generally packed on the weekends, but took a chance and we were able to get a table. There was a wait soon after though. Everything was, simply, fantastic. The manager Edgar was incredibly kind and friendly and took special care of us. All of the food was incredible, with special shout outs to the mortadella and the chicken liver mousse (unfortunately this was gone too fast before I could get a picture). The cocktails were also delicious. Could not recommend this place enough. We can’t wait to come back!
Local spot for us in the neighborhood, we used to go here when it was still Jack the Horse tavern. I feel like the new owners and chef are still trying to strike the right tone here. There is a lot to like. I think overall the portions are smaller than they should be, everything seems just slightly overpriced. However everything is good from the brunch food to the dinner food options. When they very first opened we went for dinner and were disappointed with the lack of menu options. But now they’ve added more options and it seems like there’s a lot more to choose from. I recommend the white gazpacho, the hamachi off of the current menu. Focaccia with ricotta was good especially if you pile the pickled fruit on top with the cheese altogether, but I think its an overpriced dish. We definitely will keep coming here and seeing how the menu options change with time. The bar is my favorite part of the restaurant just with how classic it feels although the barstools could be more comfy for sure.
Recently celebrated my birthday there and the staff was super accommodating as i had many friends coming and going. The restaurant has a good wine and cocktail menu. I am more of a wine person but i heard around the table that the bartender made good cocktails. Some ordered off the list and some asked for the classics such as dirty martini. The food was delicious. We nearly ordered everything off of it. One thing to note: turns out i was not a fan of mortadella and the appetizer had a LOT of mortadella which is a type of cured meat. The chocolate cake was also very tasty 👌🏼
Absolutely fantastic food and wine in a warm and cozy space. We loved every dish and the service was friendly and well-paced. The only drawback to this spot is the noise level. Tin ceilings, no soundproofing, and loud-ish music with a large crowd meant I often couldn’t hear my date across the table from me. I’m hopeful management can address this issue because besides that, it was just stellar. Compliments to the chef and owners.
The food was excellent but the portions were scanty . I ordered the agnolotti with butternut squash, there were maybe 5 pieces in the plate . The sauce was well prepared with hazelnut and squash . It was very small for $21 . The chicken dish was good . It was roasted and there was a fennel flavored sauce with it but there was no side dish with it , just 4 small leaves of radicchio ($29) . The dinner was good but I left hungry . The place is noisy and does not feel cozy .
We visited this bar from curiosity, ordered few dishes and drinks. The burger itself was fine, however the bun wasn’t to my taste, and the cheese didn’t complement the dish. And the price for all of it too high in my opinion.
Good martini and cozy vibes. Worth a visit to the bar but the food is average at best with limited menu. Would be a 5 star place if they improved dinner menu and reduced 1 or 2 tables to make seating less cramped. Brunch is decent but again tiny menu with basically only eggs. Service is also lacking, took 45 mins to receive a drink during dinner service
Extremely overpriced and LOUD. Was hoping for more of a cozy, winter, pub experience...instead got a cramped, fine-dining failure. The burger was tasty but because it was drenched in sauce and very salty. Is this really how the rich in brooklyn heights eat out?
