Opinions de Los Tacos Al Pastor Brooklyn
Very nice place, dropped in here after Brooklyn Bridge Flea Market on Saturday afternoon, had a wonderful, tasty salad. Cool vibe, chill music, very nice and attentive service. The only annoying thing is the endless stream of people coming in to ask to use the toilet, like there was a public toilet sign somewhere - and some even getting upset at being refused, with a sens of entitlement. Must be annoying for the staff.
I entered this place blinded by hunger with my friends after being clueless in dumbo. I will say with confidence this place is great! I the tomato sauce in the rigatoni was very tasty and all the pasta’s were cooked al dente or at least to our liking. I’ll point out that the price is above the average price I’ve paid for a dish like this, but it didn’t hurt because the dish tasted better than I expected anyway. I would happily go here again.
Excellent food and ambience, we order prosciutto pizza and burrata, they gave us an appetizer and also dessert on the house, really amazing!
The pizza was beyond savory! This restaurant gives a very romantically dim-lit vibe. There's sparkling and tap water offered. The pizza was pretty affordable. The waiters are all very lovely and quick on their feet. I can't wait to return. My friend enjoyed their lasagna a lot as well. I definitely recommend this spot.
we came here for some pizza. We got 3 varieties. Each pie was AMAZING. The arugula & prosciutto was my fave. Hope to come here again next time it rains
The meats were perfectly charred and tasty. You have to order "con todo" and get cilantro, a slice of pineapple, onions and guacamole in it. They have red, green and pico salsas and lime wedges to dress it up. No cheese, lettuce, tomatoes or cabbage in the tacos. The tortilla was semi-crunchy and could have been better. The side of guacamole and chips was tasty as well. The orders are ala carte with tacos at $4.35 each. There was a food subtotal on my tab. I'm not sure what that was about. But if you're in the mood for tacos while in NY, this is the place. Located at the DUMBO area.
Very good food, but the waiters all gathered on the counter and it was very, very difficult to call them. We had a Prosciutto with mozzarella as starter — goes very well with a Primitivo wine! Gnocchi al Forno and Pappardele with boar ragu were also great.
This rating is on the location, and aesthetics. The actual taco itself was a 3/5. I came to this taqueria during my lunch break and decided to buy 1 taco de al pastor. Off the bat, the locale was really appealing, clean and overall welcoming. Loved the feel of the place. Once I got my taco, it looked really good, like ready to devour good. I was already savoring it just by looking at my taco. First bite, the meat was crispy, which is a plus on my end. But then, that was it. The seasoning on the meat was ehh, almost bland tbh, but the tortilla was really good, and the rest of the toppings were okay. An okay taco doesn’t match the price I paid for this taco (yes, it’s in DUMBO, what did I expect) and I know flavor is a subjective topic so I didn’t want to rate this place for that. I had an overall good experience here. Location is 👍🏾.
The waiters had that attitude where they are better than you or not worth their time. I did not feel welcomed. Also its cash only so know before you go there. The pizza was small and a bit pricey but good. I liked the food.
i ordered their rustic pizza which features sopressata and red peppers. the pie came out within 5 minutes which is nice if you want a quick bite. the pizza itself was decent— nothing really outstanding about it. the tomato sauce and cheese were pretty standard and the sopressata was one of the redeeming qualities. they do use a brick oven to bake their pizzas which adds a nice charcoal/smoky flavor
No seating and $3.75 tacos. They keep it simple, so just depends on your taste. Los Tacos is fine for the price and speed and there’s seating outside in dumbo. The staff and food is nice but $13-ish for a salad bowl is a bit pricey if I’m being honest. Can’t knock Los Tacos too much, good lil food place. Bienvenidos! 3/5 Stars
interesting experience. didn’t know you could really go wrong with pizza in Brooklyn, or pizza in general, but we made the mistake of wanting to try one of the unique Wood Fire Pizza options, so decided on the Soppresata!!! pizza. But received a much different pizza than what was featured on the online menu. As a frequent traveler and long time F&B myself, I’m not normally one to leave negative reviews - but draw the line on receiving a pizza with Maraschino cherries on it. We didn’t sent it back considering how long it took to get our glasses of wine (20 mins) and pizza (30+),on a Monday night after 7, despite the 3 other tables in the restaurant already eating when we’d arrived, we were hungry, disappointed, and still had an open mind about trying the pizza. If the pizza didn’t have the maraschino cherries on it, it would’ve probably been good, but a $67.50 bill (not including tip) for a pizza, 2 glasses of wine, and a single shot espresso… honestly, wouldn’t recommend.
The food was not worth the price. The location was cute. The drinks were mediocre. The presentation was very underwhelming. What saved everything was Arthur our server The location if you don’t mind passing trains over head is decent. The drinks were mediocre and poorly executed. Dishes served on super chipped plates. Arthur who I wish I had nothing bad to say still didn’t really know the liquor they had at the bar. And had to be reminded to bring certain items to the table. Miss matching silverware, the roughest napkins, and barely any ice in the drinks. Especially on a very warm day that it was. This occasion reminds me why I always Google search and read reviews on places so that I have a heads up. So that when I’m out on a date and not just randomly picking a spot because of a location. That is worth my time, calories, and hard earned money. Thank you for a horrible experience will never recommend and will tell others to stay away
$30 for a vegan ice cold pizza I'm not living far and the driver told me that it wasn't even hot anymore when it got picked up Why is it without tomato sauce? Even if it would have been hot it would be overpriced. inedible They haven't responded to my message or phone call, not interested to improve.
Kudo's to the pizza baker, great pizza with thin crushy bottom. The service without a smile. That girl came without any request from me with the receipt and herself made 22% tip in it. Without any shame, no smile nor eyecontact and without any words. Shameless. I do not recomment
The food was delicious, no complaints there. Unfortunately, the service made us feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived. We had just approached an outside table and weren’t even fully seated when a staff member came out and abruptly asked if we had ordered yet. We explained that we were going to look at the menu online. She walked away but continued to watch us until we came inside to order, which felt uncomfortable.
In one word - overpriced. In detail - the girl at the register provided good service. No issues here. Prices went significantly up since the last time I came here. It's now $5 / taco! (Al-Pator). This is beyond expensive, but the taco-truck wasn't there today and I was craving tacos. For that much you'll have high expectations, right? Well, lower them. Mediocre at best (but they look good!). They have their little station for lime, peppers, and hot sauce, just don't ask for a condiments container of you take your food to go! The cook just told me they don't carry any and to put it directly on the taco (BTW, they used to carry them). Now we all know what happens to a tortilla when it's wet for more than a few minutes, right? I had my tacos to-go and by the time I got to the office it was soggy and falling apart. Not even double tortillas 🤔 I've been working here before they opened. Back then the taste was better and obviously cheaper. I understand inflation, rent, etc but $5 per taco (that's not even great) is high. I won't be back. Today was my last time.
Read till the end :) Great location! Smelt great from the outside. Presented to look very well! However, it lacks flavor. Salad was very tasteless, especially considering how much “salsa” or “dressing” was in it, just taste like wet hot greens, with bland chicken. The pastor taco, the only flavor in that was the pineapples, had to douse the taco in like just to have some sort of taste. Also, tried to order a topo Chico, but the cashier said they were all out, looked around and noticed topo’s literally everywhere, even in the buckets to the right side of him..maybe throw a couple of those in the fridge? Won’t return here unfortunately.
UPDATE TO PREVIOUS POST Went back for two chicken tacos + guac and chips. Chicken was dry and toppings were not as flavorful as my memory had me believe. Tried guac and chips for first time, overall meh flavor and guac consistency was not for me. Shortly after, I did not feel well with stomach "issues" and given this was lunch and my first meal of the day; felt confident that it was attributed to this. Being local, I went to explain the situation and suggested it may be the guac. Unfortunately, and this is the reason I am writing this update - the owner/ manager failed to assume any accountability for the issue. He reiterated multiple times that the guac is made fresh daily, and questioned me more than 1-2x whether I had a food allergy. I found this rather surprising and did not appreciate deflecting the situation on me. My mistake was suggesting the guac, as it became the focus of the majority of the conversation. While food is made fresh daily, it also needs to be stored and refrigerated properly. When you see the salsas and other ingredients are set out without ice or refrigeration, you cannot deflect on the customer. Don't know about the guac as I didnt see it before I got the bag, but the point is this: treat your customers appropriately and take some accountability in circumstances like this, especially when you are running a restaurant. Needless to say, I cannot recommend nor will I return to this place. PREVIOUS POST FROM 5 MONTHS AGO: Other reviews had me hesitant to try, glad that I took a leap of faith today. Ordered a chicken taco — meat flavor was so-so, but the portion was huge, salsa verde was solid. Tortilla was fine, not greasy. Clean and fast, it’s not a top 5 contender but will be back again!
On October 3rd, at approximately 7:30 PM, I entered Love and Dough Pizzeria. My uncle had just purchased a box of pizza, and within 10 minutes, I re-entered with two little girls, ages six, to use the restroom. When I asked the manager, Stefon, if the children could use the bathroom, he was extremely rude and dismissive, despite me explaining that I was a paying customer. Hoping for help, I approached the waiter, Alex, but he looked me up and down and walked away without a word. The cashier, Ri, was the only staff member who showed kindness. She listened politely, though she seemed embarrassed by her colleagues’ behavior. Because she could not resolve the issue, I purchased another slice of pizza ($5.25) just to be able to allow the children access to the bathroom. Only then did Stefon return and say we could use the restroom as though I had not already been a paying customer. The entire interaction was unprofessional, disrespectful, and completely lacking in customer service etiquette. The pizza itself was below average, but the bigger issue was the negative energy, dismissive attitude, and lack of basic courtesy from management and staff. I told them to keep the slice I had purchased and suggested they give it to someone in need, as I refused to take it after such treatment. I will not return to this establishment and cannot recommend it to anyone not because of the food alone, but because of the appalling behavior and lack of respect for customers.
My one-star rating comes not because of the sub-par yet overpriced pizza, but due to the abysmal service and treatment my partner and I received during our less-than-30-minute stay at this establishment. Both waiter & host barely said any words to us. The waiter, in serving my partner his ordered drink, slammed the glass onto our table abruptly and left. Said waiter also brought us the cheque before we even finished our pizza. We received the message loud and clear and so we paid and left not long after. I suppose the one good thing about the situation is that we did not have to wait long for our meal to come to our table, so we were not subject to spending too much time in an establishment where we were clearly unwelcome. I've now read the other poor reviews from other POC on here and should've done it before patronizing this establishment. Regrettably dined in on May 31st at around 2:30pm.
Literally just went here, 5/10/25 , 7:15 pm, and guy at the door has the energy of a bouncer! Blocking the door! Are you closed? No. Whites only? No? I see a Sister sitting in the front. Weird, I didn't feel welcomed! Totally turned off and went next door to Tommy's Bar and Burger, which was friendly, welcoming, and with better ambiance and food and drinks were amazing! Don't go here!
Do not order anything fresh here. My salad had tons of rotten lettuce, some old, cold, tough brussel sprouts, some of which had brown centers, some grated Parmesan, and the one edible part of the salad- toasted pine nuts. I got to sift through all of this while seated next to a filthy wall.
Terrible experience. The manager was shockingly rude, unprofessional, and borderline aggressive. We had friends visiting from Germany and wanted to give them a classic NY pizza moment. We saw the large pie on display and asked if we could order it for the table—happy to pay for all the slices or even an upcharge. The waiter initially said no but suggested asking the manager. When I politely explained the situation, the manager abruptly and repeatedly said “no” with no explanation, just cold, dismissive responses that made the staff visibly uncomfortable. I remained polite the entire time, but his demeanor made the entire experience uncomfortable and embarrassing. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Spending $200 has never hurt so much! Here’s his photo so you could stay clear of this place!
I would give 0 stars if I could. The place had a a funky smell but I gave it a chance. Shouldn’t have because the smell definitely came from the spoiled cheese that was on my pizza slice. I couldn’t even finish my pizza. After I left I checked out the market across the street for about 10 minutes before my stomach started to hurt (probably from the pizza) I had to use the restroom so I went back here and was turned away, first because they said I wasn’t a “paying customer” after I reminded them of the pizza I just bought they changed it and said “the restroom is for dining customers only”. Terrible, spoiled food and even worse hospitality. DO NOT give this place your time or money.
The lasagna taste horrible, n the hangar steak tasted spoil the only good thing was the fries 🍟 for the price we paid $100.00 with tip it was not worth it , I do not recommend this place at all 👎👎
I would give zero stars if that was an option. $100 for two pizzas and plain pasta. The pizza was just okay, and the pasta was overdone mush. The service was awful. We waited forever for our food, they refused the simplest requests (no sauce on pasta), and then we waited forever for our check. Every table around us was complaining about food arriving late or incorrect. The table next to us had to ask three times for cutlery. Then, the server had the absolute gall to tip herself above the standard percentage on my card, requiring me to contest it with my bank. Lastly, the chairs are cheap plastic, and every time we moved, the legs went out from under us - and trying to get to the door in a tiny and overcrowded space was anxiety-producing. We will never come back.
I give them a zero—what a terrible service! I mean, on top of the fact that you almost have to prepare your own tacos, by that I mean you have to do everything yourself, including charging yourself and making the taco—that’s just too much. They charge $3.75 for a can of Coca-Cola, I mean, not even at a five-star restaurant! On top of that, they don’t know how to make tacos; not only are they overpriced, but they give you just one tortilla when tacos should have two. In other words, they charge way too much and make bad tacos. I don’t recommend them—don’t waste your money. There are plenty of taco places with excellent service and properly made tacos, but I’ve never seen a can of Coca-Cola for $3.75 anywhere. I won’t go back, man, don’t waste your time there.
I visited this restaurant and was disappointed by their policy of not allowing customers to sit unless they are consuming. Sometimes people want to wait for friends, rest a moment, or look at the menu before deciding, but staff made it clear that seating was only for paying customers. My husband went inside to place the order while my daughter and I waited outside. A worker came out just to let us know that we weren’t allowed to seat if we were not customers. Like why not to first ask if we needed any help. I understand that restaurants need to prioritize tables for diners, the way it was handled felt unwelcoming. A more flexible or polite approach would make the experience much better. Updated 10/19: The OWNER response We only have six seats Next time try to park Thank you. We did come to eat at your restaurant — my husband went inside to place our order while my daughter and I took a seat to wait. So we were in fact customers. I completely understand that seating is limited, but a little patience or a polite question before assuming otherwise would have made a big difference. It’s disappointing to see such a dismissive response instead of an effort to understand what actually happened.
Honestly. Believe the ratings. I gave this place a shot despite the low stars because 1) a lot of the low reviews were abt service. Meh. Ok, whatever. And 2) being Mexican myself, I’m always in search of good Mexican in NYC (good luck with that…). The verdict: bland, greasy, ridiculously expensive, and utterly disastrous. I honestly didn’t know Al Pastor could be made this badly. I’ve had not that tasty Al pastor tacos before but this truly takes the cake. I actually need a cake to make me feel better about what these tacos just put me through. Save your wallet and your tastebuds from an unpleasant experience and wait for your trip to Tulum. (Jaja JK don’t go there, it’s being utterly devastated by tourists, but I digress…).
