Good food, generous portions, tool the ramen pork plate in the evening. Delicious Food, came quickly, music was Kpop, ambience nice. Would come again
Loved it here!! I come to ktown often to eat but wanted sushi and most places don’t have any. I was looking at the menu outside and some lovely ladies said the sushi was amazing and they had great prices. They weren’t lying! Such a cute and cozy place inside and we were greeted and seated right away! Server didn’t rush us to order and when we did the food came out fast! They have a good amount of Korean and Japanese food options and so many options for sake and soju. Along with wine and other drinks Everything was so delicious and the pricing was great as well. I got the house sake and it was divine 😋 I find a lot of places in nyc make the miso soup so salty but theirs was perfect 👌🏻. Also a lot of places in nyc the servers are constantly coming over to the table and it gets annoying sometimes. Our server checked on us but it wasn’t so overwhelming or feeling like our conversation was constantly interrupted. No rush to leave either. Atmosphere was relaxing with a mixture of kpop music , American pop and some soft Japanese. Music wasn’t too loud either This is going to be my new go to place for sure!!
Great spot for some comfort sushi. We stopped in late one night after landing and checking into our hotel.. they had all the standard comfort sushi options and combinations. I ordered the sushi+sashimi+roll option and substituted the roll for one of my favourites. My boyfriend ordered one of the don bowls and it was also delicious. Prices aren’t the cheapest, but this wasn’t our first time in NYC so we weren’t shocked.
The food was great and moderately priced for the big portions. The service is only bad for people who are afraid to call over the waiter/waitress. Personally, I did not have any problems and the people were very sweet and fast-working. Overall, I will be going back!!
We got the seafood cake (delicious!) and the sashimi special, medium. Price was fair, food was good, miso soups for all four of us. I was surprised with the mango sake—sweet and aromatic, you'll down it quick! Nice decor and space
Anything that says “X” years ago needs to be annoyed, absolute best Japanese food I’ve eaten and their brunch special from 11am-3pm is CRAZY BANG FOR YOUR BUCK, can’t find something to eat and feeling asian? come here, you won’t regret it. found something and STILL feeling asian? come here. you will not regret it. ordered the bento special thinking it would be a box, but it’s a TRAY, 10/10
Everything was amazing. Donkatsu was delicious and cold noodle soups were amazing Highly recommend this place. One of the best donkatsu places
Food was insanely good! Very tasty.
My favorite place since high school, quality fresh food, never disappoints, whether you order Japanese or Korean dishes, they’re always on point! Highly recommend the Oyakodon and their Tuna Tadaki. Their soy wrappers are also amazing, the owner is a lovely lady that treats everyone with such kindness. My favorite place, always!
I enjoyed the lunch special bento with chicken katsu and seafood ramen . The ramen was very flavorful with a surprising array of seafood ingredients. The chicken katsu was tender and crispy. The banchan needs to be improved though as they seem to be the "winter" variety, I prefer spring kimchi's :)
Food is excellent! Ramen delicious, pot stickers cooked perfect! Definitely will be back!
Very cute and COVID safe! We didn't have to share the tent with anyone and it was a beautiful day outside. It was really nice to have se separation from the foot traffic. The food was delicious! Portion size was a bit inconsistent because the bulgogi was much more food than the kalbi but it was all really tasty.
I had the pork bento + mini udon. One of the best dinners I had during my passage through NYC. Not as spicy as other Korean restaurants but spicy enough. The combination of Rice Curry, Tonkatsu and Udon is just perfect for a complete meal. PS: the image of my post is the Bento+Mini Ramen.
We randomly stumbled upon this place and were pleasantly surprised by our experience. Everything we ordered was so yummy. Would definitely come back!
Hands down, the best chicken katsu I've had in New York! Their lunch katsu options are fantastic, with portions that are beyond generous. The service is warm, quick, and adds to the overall experience. And don't even get me started on the sides—absolutely delicious! The kimchi and pickled radish are tooooo good, and every bite leaves you wanting more. This spot is a must-visit for anyone craving a satisfying, flavorful meal
the ambience is so cool here! i got the veggie katsu platter and my friend got the california roll. both dishes felt very fresh. the staff was very kind and attentive. side note: their soju pitcher is a bit too large so make sure you double check. but the both of us did end of finishing the whole pitcher.
Such a great place to try if you love Japanese or Korean food, mainly have more Japanese dishes! I got the fried shrimp udon soup which was delicious and was a decent size bowl! The ambiance of the restaurant was super nice as it had a nice Japanese aesthetic. The prices were a bit pricey for me, but overall a nice experience!
I love this restaurant! I have been coming here for years! Their chicken Katsu is amazing and it’s super crispy. The booths don’t have a back part to lean on so just keep that in mind lol. The bathroom is so pretty and decorated. I’ve never had an issue with any of the waiters and the food doesn’t take long to arrive either.
I love everything here, the pork ramen was delicious 🤤 10/10. The service was good, they brought the drinks and food very quickly. Is a place were you can talk and feel comfortable at the same time.
Ramen here is the best, it's my go-to and I've taken all my friends here to try and they love it. The service is also amazing, I like eating my food without someone constantly asking if everything is okay. They usually come up to refill water and you can use that chance to ask for anything else. It's also very clean here
Hana Michi is a great place for anyone who loves Japanese cuisine. I ordered the Sashimi over rice + Minisoba. It was delicious but the portions were very generous and the price was more than reasonable. I also like the decoration and atmosphere of Hana Michi. I will definitely be visiting again.
Admittedly, I think I've only ever ordered oyakodon here because it is my favorite Japanese dish and out of the many places I've tried it, Hanamichi hands down makes it best! One time, however, they also gave us okonomiyaki (probably because we were in a large group) and that was also tasty. I've taken a lot of friends here, and they've tried various dishes like udon, Burning chicken with mozzerella cheese, and more, and my friends have always been satisfied with both the food and the overall ambiance of the restaurant. This is one of my favorite spots in the city and a big draw of Koreatown.
This one is of the most welcoming and affordable Japanese/Korean fusion restaurants you can visit at K-Town. I have come here for many years since 2019 and it never disappoints. From the quality of food to how nice the staff are and generally the vibes of this place are comforting and exciting. Not to mention the bathroom is clean and has an aesthetic of its own! My favorite dishes to date are: Pork mozzarella katsu, Chicken katsu, Sashimi platters, and Gyoza appetizers. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Favorite drink I get almost every time is the Thai tea. Every now and then I'll enjoy a little dinner and soju with my friend since we always gravitate to Hana Michi on any occasion. Please give it a try, you won't regret it!
Absolutely loved the atmosphere. Staff was so friendly. Interior was clean and nicely distanced. Music was on point with the kpop. Food was insanely good. The special rolls are pricey but fantastic portions and taste so fresh. Really liked the the crab on fire roll and the kimono roll. Rice cakes with mozzarella cheese was not bad. I enjoyed the fact that they had both fish cake and fish balls in the dish! Now for my standard COVID comments as of December 2022. Everyone working there is still wearing masks. They have plastic barriers between most of the seating areas. Everything was pretty clean as well. I felt completely comfortable even as it started to get busy with the dinner rush.
This place was lovely! The service is not bad at all! I suggest asking for the drink menu first because my hostess forgot mine and if you are seated outside, the hosts come out and stand by the door so DO NOT BE AFRAID TO CALL THEM OVER!! The food there was amazing and the prices are reasonable for the big portions!! Overall, the restaurant is great and I will be frequenting it.
Came here for a light dinner not a long wait for a Saturday. Was seated within 5-10 minutes, the staffs were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and seasoned nicely. Definitely recommend getting the seared tuna, seafood udon Noddles and the classic pork and vegetable ramen. Their menu everything looks good. Great spot for date nights, friends night out, late night dinner they close at 2am! Overall amazing experience and will be returning.
A little pricey, but was a favorite with my coworkers for a while. We always enjoyed sharing one of their fruit juice soju drinks, though the last one we had recently had a bit too much juice to the point that it tasted little different from straight juice. Nevertheless, the food is always fresh and tasty, no matter what I've ordered. The service is good, and they offer a frequent diner stamp card program.
The food was delish, but not great. I've eaten better for less $. I was in the area looking for a quick bite to eat. The dumplings appetizer was a bit underwhelming for 7 dollars, it's fried however they are so small, and not very filled in my opinion. My gyudon was good, not crazy about egg being with the beef but still very good. I really enjoyed their miso soup. I'd have given it 5 stars but the staff is a standoffish...otherwise a Decent cozy spot. Service is quick.
I came here with a few friends to this places, It a nice Japanese,Sushi Bars locate in Middletown, not that big but is a very good, and they give you a free salad, when you checking in with yelp. They have some plate, that two or more people can share. I ate the String- Fried Chicken Gizzard, this is a plate that is very spicy but delicious I ending loving it, the only bad thing, I had to ask for water at the same time was eating, but the portion was very big it came with white rice too. One of my friend had the Burning Chicken with Mozzarella Cheese, it was least spicy that the one i ate, but it was also very good, he portion was big too.I love the way the chicken and cheese taste. My other two friends, share a soup that was spicy, the soup was so big that i think 3 people can share it. The staff was very fast and efficient, the open 24 hours that sounds so amazing!!!!!
HanaMichi is a nice oriental house that offers a good selection of dishes. Those familiar with the pricing in the Korean Way, will know that it is not cheap to eat here, but HanaMichi offers a nice selection of Lunch Specials at about half the price of other places. The food is plentiful, so you won't be hungry after eating here. The flavour is great, but it lacks a bit of presentation and flavour from other places. It is still a fantastic place and I had a great time there. The ambient is great as well, with a lovely design and sound. It is normally crowded but you can get a seat fast.
We tried the Beef Bibimbap, which arrived sizzling in a hot pan and was absolutely delicious—the flavors were well-balanced and satisfying. My friend ordered the Katsudon, which tasted good, though we found the rice a bit too soaked due to the amount of broth. Despite this, the dishes were enjoyable, and the pricing felt very reasonable, especially for a spot in the lively Koreatown area. Overall, Hana Michi is a solid choice if you’re in the mood for flavorful Japanese-Korean dishes in a charming setting.
You can't go wrong with any of the restaurants at the KTown strip. The space was nicely decorated, with mirror walls where you get to admire yourself and your company while eating- lol. We ordered a special roll and a noodle entrée to share and it was more than enough. The Kimono roll not only looked beautiful, it was also delicious! We really enjoyed the tempura battered side veggies. The batter was light, crunchy, honestly the best I've ever had. Service was forgettable.
Pretty good food, we had Fried Tofu, Pork Ramen, and Bulgogi Bento box, tasty. Good service, clean restroom
Food: The food was really good! I loved the Udon and the ramen a lot. They were super good and had lots of flavor. I also got the sea food pancake and it was alright… The crust of the pancake was very crunchy, I didn’t like the tip of it and the middle was ok. It was very thick and filled with lots of vegetables and seafood. Service: The lady who served us was really nice. She was super friendly and wasn’t a bad server. We didn’t wait too long for our food and she was really patient. There was a lady that was standing, watching the restaurant in case if people needed help or anything. She wasn’t chatting with anyone or wasn’t on her phone. She was well trained. 😃 Atmosphere: The place was not too warm but not too cold either. It was in the slight middle. The restaurant inside looked super fun with pink flowers on the ceiling and had lots of decorations. They also play K-pop and anime music while people eat.
Food: This restaurant is overall pretty good. The pork and vegetable ramen was not the best but it was decent. The ramen was too soft and the broth was mediocre. The sushi and udon tasted very good though! I really enjoyed it. They also give mini appetizers (kimchi, turnip, and pickles) which was nice. I do not recommend the seafood pancake but it is only a personal opinion. The pancake was too thick and the middle of the pancake was too soft. Overall the food was okay. Service: The service was pretty good too! They came exactly when we were done deciding what we wanted. They served the food very quickly and all at the same time which was nice so we didn’t have to wait for each other’s food to come. The staff is also very friendly. Atmosphere: I love the decorations. There was cute benches and cool Japanese lanterns on the ceiling. The restaurant felt very cozy and they also played k-pop and Japanese music.
The pork loin katsu lunch special ($20.99 plus tax) is a delicious and filling meal and comes with a mini ramen, pickled cucumbers and radishes and kimchi, 2 dipping sauces, rice and a mild curry gravy. The Manhattan roll ($16.99) is likewise excellent. Overall Hana Michi prices seem to be higher than those of comparable restaurants. The interior is mostly concrete and light wood, giving it an industrial feel.
I really enjoyed this place, the food was fresh, the service was nice and the ambience was laid back. I plan on returning again to have sushi and perhaps some of their hot dishes. I had the lancing roll with plum wine and tadaki tuna. The sushi was fresh and paired well with plum wine. My girlfriends enjoyed a variety of rolls and the miso soup was great. I found that the waitress took really good care of us and the pricing was affordable.
Spicy tuna poke with rice was pretty tasty, and the tuna is actually spicy. This is perhaps due to the Korean influence, as you can order standard Korean and Japanese pub fare. I can’t fairly assess the waitstaff as it was between shifts and during family meal time when I visited. Not sure if I’ll be back, but I was happy to find decent quality in a nice atmosphere. I’m not sure what the other noise complaints were about: the music was playing at an unobtrusive volume.
I ordered the Unagi Don and the 4 Piece Pork Shumai Dumplings. Luckily, everything was good and had good proportions. The price was average for what you are getting. However, I have three qualms with this restaurant. 1. Loud pop music was playing throughout my entire lunch. Very distracting. 2. The decor is very incoherent inside. Sometimes you can put too much decor in a building. 3. Service was slow when it came to delivering the check. It took 15-30 minutes after we were done with our food. Basically, I've heard that there were better places to be. Maybe come here for their lunch specials and then it'll be worth it. -TB
I didn't order any sushi here but the other options that I ordered was okay. For example, the Unagi Don portion was mostly rice and had few pieces of eel in it. I was really disappointed since I always go to Union Square to get it and decided to try some here. Another item I ordered was a seafood tofu dish that was okay. It wasn't great but okay. I probably won't recommend any of my friends here since there are better options in the area. Maybe next time I'll try to order the sushi and perhaps get a better experience. Also, the major turn off factor was the table I received was next to the front door. The draft kept coming in and it was so cold. Would definitely not like to be placed at that table again.
There was no line when we went but the wait time for food and service was quite long. Prices are quite high but food quality is average. Would recommend going somewhere else nearby. Also note that meals have higher prices for dinner as opposed to lunch times.
I had pork katsu, which was of an acceptable quality (it could have been better but still ok). However the service was terrible enough that I’ll probably never go back. There were two waitresses and only maybe three other tables occupied, but they were nowhere to be found the whole time. Mediocre food and terrible service in that prime location, I’m not sure how they manage to stay in business. 🤔
This restaurant offers a quiet atmosphere in K Town, which is otherwise very busy. However, the service is not especially good (we had to ask for our beer at least once after ordering). The food is good (includes both Korean and Japanese options) but not amazing. Stay away from the tempura combo! The vegetables are disappointing, the shrimp is dense, and the dish gave one person in our party terrible stomach pain. A for ambiance. C for service. D for food.
As a Katsu aficionado I was disappointed in their offering: a bland chiken portion composed of a brittle/tenuous panko paired with slimy curry. To thrive in K-town, restaurants must step up their game. Competition is far too strong to be offering subpar meals at this price point on such a busy street. Ambiance felt a bit tacky as it was made up of a mish-mash of materials and texture that all felt unresolved. Kitchen looked unkempt and disorganized; and the bathroom was unsanitary. Service was acceptable. If you absolutely must eat, stopping here won’t hurt, but if you are looking for a noteworthy meal you won’t find it in the Katsu nor in the atmosphere.
the food was very good which is why I’m not rating this place a one star, but the service was very bad. there seems to only be two staff working at the time we were there. they couldn’t care to bring us water, take our order, and our bill until we had to get up, find them, and tell them that we were ready. server was quite unresponsive and didn’t seem very nice.
I used to come to Hana Michi quite a bit in my early years. It was a late night spot to relax after a night out. I came here recently after a long hiatus and it has gone downhill. It looks almost the exact same as it did many years ago. The menu hasn't changed much except for the prices, which are sky-high (and just covered with new p-touch prices). The food we ordered was luke-warm and the katsu I had was barely breaded, not crunchy..borderline soggy. Service was very lackluster: no energy, on their phones slouched in a corner...had to hunt them down for anything. I was disappointed, but not surprised. Many K-town spots are just not worth raving about anymore...Queens is just the better choice.
Slow, unconcerned and absentee service, but worst of all, food does not arrived as pictured in menu, and actual food served is of much lower value, so false advertising and a total rip off. We ordered the large yakitori platter. In their menu, it was shown with a skewer with several whole fresh sardines, a skewer packed with squid, a skewer with several shrimp, a cluster of bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms, bacon wrapped tomatoes etc. When it came out, there were no sardines, only three measly (and cooked to rubber) squid tentacles, no bacon on the tomatoes, one shrimp, no bacon wrapped mushrooms. One skewer they gave was literally three garlic cloves. This platter was $46! The server left and didn’t check on us for so long, it wasn’t even possible or worth the waste of time to have it addressed. Extremely disappointing and a scam. Would never come back.
It’s alright. The food we got was just “meh,” you can see in my pics that the tempura was poorly made and the gyoza were like Korean mandu when this is supposed to be a Japanese resturant? It’s strange, it’s a Japanese resturant in the middle of K-town that seems confused about its identity - the menu is a weird mix of Korean and Japanese food and is way too big and difficult to navigate. The service was slow and impersonal. It’s also expensive, each sushi roll was at least $15 (the California roll costs the same as their specialty rolls). This is probably why it was so empty on a Saturday night but I wouldn’t come back.
the food is just bad it taste like it had been sitting there all day then popped into the oven or microwave to serve. no wonder it came out so quick! only the sashimi was good, the cooked food was just nothing good. oh the drinks were good too the ramen soup flavorless the katsu was mushy on the bottom when we just got it, it was served in a warm bowl so i just know it was reheated w/ the rice. the katsu tasted pretty good but the mushy mess just threw me off. especially at the HIGH price they are charging. the food shouldn’t be reheated after sitting on the side. rice cake was just eh, not a fan of their sauce. the pancake wasn’t good either everything looked really pretty but didn’t taste like it’s appearance and high price. two stars because the service was good, lady was really nice and the ambiance was great. cute place and nice music, but i wouldn’t come again just for those two points. id rather have good food!!!
The worst Korean restaurant in Ktown! Nobody takes care of you after sitting for 10 minutes(I saw one customer accidentally broke a wine glass and still no waiter came to help until they pay the bill and left) The price of the dishes are extremely high and unreasonable compared to all other nearby restaurants, a grilled squid with pork belly is $45…and there is NO squid, instead they use baby octopus:) and the seafood hot pot is also $45 with: only one shrimp, 3 pieces of tofu, 5 ish mussels, one crab, a few pieces of squid and a bunch of vegetables, and there is almost No flavor for the soup alone.
We ordered the seafood hot pot The seafood was NOT FRESH AT ALL. I wouldn’t come back to this place. Server didn’t even care filling up our water. But the most important thing is FOOD WAS NOT FRESH. Over cooked seafood !!!! I wouldn’t visit this place again. Probably is for tourist that doesn’t know there are many better Korean restaurants on the same street.
Don’t get the seafood bibimbap, it’s so bad!!! Very rubbery and flavorless, even with the sauce. We came for my friend’s birthday and were hoping for a good meal. We won’t be coming back
The food was ok, but the way they worded their lunch special was misleading. They said two combinations for $27.99 so we ordered two combinations. When we got the bill, it was for two lunch specials. I told the server this, and he said he would explain it to me. An explanation after the fact doesn't save me spending $30 extra dollars on a lunch. I do not appreciate being scammed by their (probably intentionally) confusing menu design.
Went once with my friends and it was enjoyable experience. Came back with my family, did not get treated well. The table was offered first to the folks who were in line after us. Those folks were nice and let us go first. The request to chop the mango avocado salad fine was not entertained. I will not go back to this restaurant.
I ordered the takoyaki and the spicy tuna roll. The roll barely had fish, it was mostly cucumber and a lot of spicy mayo. For a 16 dollar roll very underwhelming. The takoyaki on the other hand was VERY hard on the outside and then FROZEN ln the inside. The service was terrible, the place was empty and somehow they took forever to close me out. When I told the waitress about the frozen dish she didn’t even offer an apology, she just took it and left like nothing. On top of all this when i was on my way home i started feeling nauseous. So many other good places in K town, this one is not one of them.
Just left the place and the lady was very rude! Every time my friends spoke to her she said nothing and it was very obvious she did not want us there! I worked in the food industry all my life so I know how a server should behave/make guests feel and that was not it.
Some of the worst service I’ve ever had here. Very unresponsive staff. Never had my water filled. Never heard from our waiter after placing order. Had to get up and talk with the host to get stuff. Other than that, food was solid. Chicken katsu was solid. Good price. Benches were kinda uncomfortable and if someone is sitting behind you, you’re very close and practicals sitting on the same bench. So your back can hit them.
The service is so terrible that by the time I finish writing this review, the waitress might bring out my check. Anyways, continuing with my review. They absolutely need to remove ramen from their menu. It’s an abomination beyond comprehension. The Pork and Vegetable Ramen was bland, the noodles were soggy, there were more bean sprouts than noodles, the pork cut was dry and unflavorful and for gods sake they messed up the egg. They didn’t marinate it long enough, it tastes old and just so sad. I’m not sure why they also bother to bring out kimchi and other sides dishes. It tastes like I drank raw vinegar with a Korean kick to it in a horrid way possible. Just throw that straight into the trashcan. Literally the only thing they got right was the pork dumplings and the slice of orange. Oh look, my check is finally here.
