Would normally give a 5 star review as their food is usually delicious. Went in on a Saturday night, asked the server if the bbq ribs were good. He stated they were delicious and he always orders them. Ribs arrived with sauce on the side. So glad I had the sauce on the side. BBQ sauce seemed to have a strong presence of vinegar (way too tart). Mentioned it to the server and he responded "Yes, are bbq sauce is tangy". Why didn't he tell me this when I asked "How are the ribs"! I would not have ordered. Again, I've eaten at this place a number of times and it usually on point. Don't order the ribs unless you like tangy or no sauce.

Food was great. Atmosphere was nice liked the decor. Came with some family for dinner the pork spare ribs were good also liked the mussels and mussels and the no cheese mac and cheese. Would come back

Southern comfort food in industrial setting with an urban flair. Came here for dinner with 4 other friends on a Friday evening around 8 and there was no wait. Reservations can be made in advance with Yelp. The area is spacious and good for big groups, but the seating upstairs may be too loud if there’s a DJ. Credit cards accepted. Street parking available. There are some vegetarian options. We ordered the vegan mac and cheese and the fried tofu for appetizers to split. As a non-vegan, the max and cheese still had a nice creaminess and good flavor. The tofu came with a sweet chili sauce that can be made spicier if you eat the peppers it comes with. For my entree, I had the fried chicken which came with a generous helping of coleslaw and a toasty cornbread. There were three pieces of chicken and it was juicy with good breading. Overall it was a good spot for eating a filling dinner before going out in Oakland.

This place is perfect for a date night or a group night out. It's obvious that food got some attention from the kitchen with tasteful touches. Service was a bit slow from our experience but depending on how busy they are! Price is comparable with same service and quality you should expect. It has live musik and DJ on Friday / Sat nights, could be a bit loud ambient. There is very nice floor with potentials foot a club or events!

Went here for dinner with the hubby. The service was great. We liked the ambience. Some of the art was a bit creepy for ME but I get why it's attractive to some. It has the hip vibe. The music is pretty loud so I'd say It's great for big or small group of friends and for fun date night but definitely not a romantic spot. The best dishes IMO were the pork ribs (fell off the bone), the chicken liver (great contrasting flavors) and the hamburger (we added provolone, avocado which they weren't stringy about, blue cheese). Only thing with the hamburger is we asked for medium pink in the middle but was more medium rare but I didn't send it back because flavor was good and didn't want to make a fuss. Next time I would make sure though. Pork ribs were delicious, must try! The pecan tart was yummy, a little too sweet but what pecan pie/tart isn't. And the bone marrow was ok. It was what my husband most wanted to try but was what we liked the least. Probably because we've had better bone marrow so we had high expectations. All in all good experience. Would recommend and would return for the ribs and chicken liver patê.

We were a group of 4 for dinner on a Sunday night. 2 of us had been before and recommended it. The vibe is very chill and has an industrial aesthetic. We literally ordered half of the menu because the dishes are small and meant to be shared. Everything was good but the stand outs for us were the "not cheese" Mac and cheese, the chicken wings, the brussel sprouts, the crispy polenta and the garlic shrimp. The service was very friendly. The DJ was on point! The music was a highlight for me. We were dancing in our seats. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? First, my cocktail was just so-so and the prices are quite expensive. But, apparently the prices are typical for the Bay area.

This place seems to be mix of different food fusions. We ordered a few items and they were good. Brussels, wings, ribs, collard greens, bone marrow, no cheese Mac and cheese. Margaritas very good. Music was too Loud. That 20% mandatory gratitude does not sit well with me. I believe people should be allowed to tip what they want. First based on serve and secondly its gratitude and cannot be forced . Stop this madness. One time visit is enough.

Atmosphere, off top is amazing. The DJ played hits after hits. It was great. The service wasn’t terrible, just slow and we rarely got checked on (that could also be because it was pretty busy). The food wasn’t anything to highlight. The wings, don’t sound as great when reading the description, but were very delicious. We did the burgers and they had absolutely no flavor/taste; even after adding the aioli and ketchup. The drinks were ok, the Strawberry Ginger Lemonade was more like a juice with no alcohol. The Manhattan was pure alcohol. There is a 20% gratuity charged to every check, regardless of size of party. Would go again for the vibe and wings. Restroom was atrocious. Out of the 4, one was completely backed up and the others were filthy. Pretty gross and tight fit.

The best tasting item was my five dollar soda water through a paper straw. Also I really enjoyed my baby cup. The ketchup was high quality as well.

i think we all know what it's like to be underwhelmed by something we've eaten. i have experienced this plenty of times. what is much more rare for me is walking away from a meal feeling genuinely disappointed. the food is uncreative and underseasoned to a degree that flabbergasts me. seeing that there are people who seem to enjoy this place fills me with a sense of alienation that is difficult to fully articulate, but i think there's only one way to summarize the way i feel: this restaurant is too white for me. i know i shouldn't be able to say that because — and i do apologize for this — i could not possibly be whiter. and maybe, for that reason, i still shouldn't say it. but i am not in the target clientele for mua, because i enjoy food with compelling flavors, and they don't seem interested in serving such a thing here. i had the mussels, and they were so very boring. maybe if i had paid less, i would have left more satisfied; i just don't know if i've ever felt like i was getting less for my money. the atmosphere in the dining room really brought the mood down, as well, because the music was blaring at a level that made it hard to carry on a conversation with my friends. whose idea was it to serve bland, uninspired dishes accompanies by a loud dj set? who is this for? i don't know, but i'm willing to give it two stars because if i'm being honest, yes, it could technically have been worse. so it has that going for it.

I’ve been to Mua in the past and always had pleasant experiences, which is why this visit was such a disappointment. We came to celebrate a birthday with drinks, and our server was horrible. From the beginning, he seemed upset that we didn’t want to order food and kept pressuring us to get something to eat. The restaurant was practically empty, so I’m not sure why he was so bothered, but his attitude was rude and completely unnecessary. It honestly made us not want to come back. To make things worse, he automatically applied a 20% tip despite the terrible service. Really unfortunate experience, especially given how much I used to enjoy this place.

Stake bread, bland seasoning, clashing fusiony flavors, amateurish food served in lukewarm temperatures.

The service was incredibly slow. The entire time we felt ignored and the guests next to us who arrived later were helped far before we were. Our server Mona barely checked in on us and we had to call her over just to order our food. Our reservation was at 5:15 and we left around 7:15 which of the majority of that time we spent waiting on our food. Once we got our food I found a BUG in the chicken 1/4 of the way into my meal. Our server Mona asked us “what do you want me to do about it” and thankfully offered to take it off the bill and apologized. Needless to say 100% won’t be coming back..

I usually go to MUA for drinks, they have amazing cocktails (esp the strawberry ginger lemonade) However this week I booked a table for 6 friends to celebrate a birthday. Our server, Isaac was very pushy and seemed very uninterested in serving us. He was literally slamming things on the table. The place was barely crowded and there were plenty of tables for everyone. When we asked him about birthday candles he was very rude with his response. It was quite a terrible experience, I recommend the bar and not the sit down service.
