Great restaurant. Food and service were excellent. Our server Beata was outstanding. She was very friendly, funny and extremely competent at her job. She made us very comfortable and also helped us decide on what to order. Overall food and ambiance exceeded all our expectations.
(4.8 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) had dinner here on Sunday night & it was delicious. The steak was very good; their starters and sides as well. My only dislike of the night was that we were too close to the table next to us. They were busy however, i think every table/party should have some sort of privacy or space and not be so on top of each other. The service was good. Could’ve been a bit more attentive to both of us on the table. The waiter was way more attentive to myself as supposed to who i came with. Overall, good steak house. Good eats and food. We got 2 cocktails, 2 beers, 3 starters, the porterhouse for 2, 3 sides, and the cheesecake. Total came out to $400 including tip for both of us.
It was a great experience. The food was good and the staff friendly and professional. Everything we ordered was delicious. Not salty.. The grilled octopus was made just right. We ordered a lot of salads and seafood dishes and they were all tasty and flavorful. Not chewy or tough. Also we were served with breaks between meals which I like. Unlike some restaurants that serve the appetizers and dinner within minutes of each other! I recommend it . You won't regret it.
The service here was impeccable and so was the food. I would recommend this place to anyone. They don’t necessarily have non-alcoholic drinks on the menu but the virgin mojito I had was pretty good. We tried a number of dishes while there including the grilled bacon, calamari, porterhouse for two, steak and shrimp scampi, lobster Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, vanilla ice cream and cheesecake. Needless to say we ended up taking most of this to go but it was all incredibly delicious and we have zero complaints. The staff was very attentive. I wish I could remember our server’s name (he was a tall guy), he made our experience feel very elevated.
Amazinggg service! From the host our waiter the staff! Went here for my sisters birthday dinner last weekend and I’m still thinking about the great service delicious food and drinks. Everyone enjoyed their food a couple of us had room for dessert I got the crème Brûlée which was delicious! For a birthday dinner pricing was still pretty affordable for 8ppl for a Steakhouse in Brooklyn, would definitely recommend for a special occasion, date night or just dinner in general! Really good!
This restaurant serves such stunning food - delicious that you can keep leftover ! I came from Egypt and this was such a great experience.. service is superb!
All around great food and service. One of the best steak houses in NYC.
Service and food is amazing. Been coming here for years. I typically frequent Peter Luger’s or Bryant & Cooper and this is same caliber.
Feels nice to be recognized! Went there for a second time, got a warm welcome. Mussels in wine, grilled octopus-all these entries put Paris to shame. Forget France, come to Amber! Rib eye steak was out of this world...disappeared before a pic could be taken. People were ordering left and right, steaks carted out from the kitchen. Makes you feel like you are in Prohibition Era...must be illegal since its soo good! Jokes aside, amazing place.
This place is fantastic! All the food was cooked perfectly! The waiter was great. Have him a great tip! Hats off to the chef! It was a great dinner and would highly recommend it!
Well worth the pricey menu for special occasions. Can't go wrong with the food.
Amber is a true quality steakhouse with the best of service. The traditional interior is set in an old Greenpoint building in a quiet part of the neighborhood. Their steaks are of excellent quality and the value is great compared to some of the famous steakhouses of NYC. I recommend the rib eye with bone, it’s huge at 24 oz and enough to take home a second meal. The salmon tartare was a really nice starter. Cream spinach and mashed potatoes are perfectly prepared sides for a steak. If you want a steakhouse that never disappoints check out Amber Steak House.
One of the best steakhouses in all of NYC. We started with the Sea scallop and grilled bacon appetizers. I got the 24oz Bone in ribeye and my lady got the fillet mignon with the foie gras, and we finished with Creme Brule and Carrot cake. From the beginning to the end of the meal every single thing I tasted was better than the previous bite, overall one of the best meals I've ever had in my life, and I'm fat so I've eaten a hell of a lot of food. But the best part of the meal was the service, sadly I forget the server's name but he was excellent, incredibly helpful, and insightful about how to pair different elements of the meal with the appropriate beverage. The attention to detail that is put into the space and the food is to be commended. One of NYC's best-kept secrets and I'll be going back.
Everytime I go here, food is always great. Service is usually good as well. I love getting the filet mignon with sauté mushrooms and spinach. I always recommend this place because I've never had a bad dish yet
Super pricy for such a tiny amount of scallops. 2 for like $25 seems like a scam to me. The mussels on the other hand were great. Wife had the chicken and loved it, i have the porter house for 2 as reminded by my waiter. Who doesn't like little leftover steak for lunch?? Either way all around good experience.
Wonderful! The staff is warm and kind, and the cuisine was delicious- including all appetizers and dinner. Thank you for a lovely experience ✨
We were a big group of 10 people on a Thursday evening. Food was great. Had the porterhouse for 2 which could have fed 3 people.
I’ve been here twice, is a fine dining place with affordable prices. The food quality and taste is fabulous. Once you try their scollops or their duck dishes you will be amazed... my step-dad says their Fillet Mignon dish is the best, he had ordered both times...for appetizers I recommend the porto bello mushroom or the scollops for Main course the sea food casserole or the salmon...the service was excellent!
Amazing food and great service! I got the T bone steak while my husband got the bone in ribeye. Both were cooked exactly how we liked in and we literally finished almost the entire thing. They also had their own house gravy which was a perfect complement to the steaks. We definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re ever in the Brooklyn area and craving delicious steak!
Came here for a six year wedding anniversary after our original plans fell through. Call them at 9:20 to get a 9:45 reservations né they were incredibly accommodating! From the moment we stepped in and got seated, we were taken care of by the phenomenal waiter, Kris. Our drinks came out quickly and we’re delicious, the complimentary bread and apps came out hot and fast. For our main course, it was the same things: well prepared, seasoned phenomenally, and was quick to our table! I feel as though the money you’re putting into this meal experience is well worth it, off the food alone but more importantly worth it for the attention to detail and care from the staff. Will be back for more!
A wonderful steak house. My family & I came in for my stepfather’s birthday and everything was wonderful. We ordered the petite steak, seafood pasta dish and a couple of sides. The food was pretty good and portioned well. I believe our server was Chris? He checked in on us and gave great table service. We loved the ambiance and the attention to detail also. Will definitely be back for that sizzling porterhouse!
What can I say about Amber steakhouse? Food service friendly atmosphere very attentive staff very inviting warm environment. Almost like an old-school steakhouse. The food was excellent. The party I was with we had bacon filet mignon ribeye, gnocchi, cream, spinach, mashed potatoes and we finished our great meal with a slice of carrot cake. The overall experience was fun and energetic. The noise level was medium, but really picked up as the night went on because it became really crowded but overall a positive atmosphere and what can I say about the attentive staff the minute you walk in you’re greeted warmly and the server and service are professional and attentive while it is a little above average when it comes to the expensive of the meal, but for an occasional treat, it’s definitely worth the price very tasty well cooked to perfection food with all this is a worthy offbeat and path, Brooklyn steakhouse I would highly recommend it above even some of the old-school ones throughout New York City. Great for friends, family and romantic nights
We ve been there on the snow storm’s night and we had the best experience! Super good steak tare tare and amazing porterhouse. Service was top-notch.
We have been to several steakhouses in Brooklyn and surrounding areas and i must say we really enjoyed our dinner here. The quality of the steak was superb and it was prepared well. The spinach complimented the steak will and the french onion soup was one of the better ones we have hadbin terms of flavorful broth and quality cheese. The staff were pleasant and the service was timely. My only word of caution if you will, is to make reservations and arrive early if your going for a more intimate diningexperience. The restaurant isnt huge and many of the seats are along the walkway which means you may have to wait for something specific if you didn't reserve ahead of time.
I wish I could give this establishment 10⭐. The service was impeccable from the hostess to the waitress, nobody missed a beat. The food was some of the best I've ever had in my 50 years. The burrata was to die for. My husband and I have talked about it a few times since we had it. Our steaks were more than true to size and very generous while cooked to perfection. The decadent truffle fries... will leave you speechless. We each took dessert to go and enjoyed the cheesecake and chocolate mousse cake, fighting over the last bites. The atmosphere was warm, classic, clean and inviting. We were making plans to come back even before our entrees came to the table.
My mother and I enjoyed an incredible meal and cozy evening at Amber’s. The food was absolutely delicious, we split a Ribeye and the Chilean Seabass among a few other food items and cocktails and were fully satisfied with everything! To top it off, our lovely server Beata took wonderful care of us and we were so impressed with her service and menu recommendations. Will absolutely be back!
Pretty decent steak house in the area especially when you don’t want to travel to manhattan Price is around mid range weekdays will be more ideal to visit as weekends will always be packed and long wait . Appointments are recommended Parking is a on the tough side need to look for street parking or meters
Fantastic spot. I recommend stopping by here for dinner. The layout and atmosphere of the restaurant is very welcoming and cozy. The menu is standard steak and fish dishes but the quality of the food is quite high. We had the calamari and burrata for starters which were exquisite. The calamar tasted very fresh and was fried to a perfect crisp. My wife had the steak and fries and she loved it. I had the chilean sea bass with mashed potatoes and brussle sprout. The portions are pretty large. And the waiter we had was fantastic. If you're there and Tate is your guy you'll have a good time.
Ambar Steak House delivered an excellent dining experience for our group of six. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and accommodating, making sure we were comfortably seated without any wait. What really stood out was that we were never rushed at any point during our meal. The team allowed us to relax, enjoy our conversations, and truly take in the experience. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was perfect for a group looking to have a great time together. Overall, Ambar Steak House is a wonderful place for quality food, great service, and a relaxed, enjoyable dining experience.
The service was excellent, its cozy quaint and classic architecture. The alcoholic beverages were robust. The food was good I had the Salmon which I enjoyed, my cousin had the steak which was good , and another friend had the linguine which she enjoyed. The spinach was really good. One of my other friends mentioned her entree was a tad bit bland as well as the lobster Mac n cheese but I enjoyed. The calamari was a bit interesting. The Creme Brulee was the best Ive ever had (Chefs Kiss). The bill tallies quickly.
Phenomenal food and service! Mikhail was extremely helpful and gave an amazing wine selection! The food melted in our mouths and I definitely recommend the Porterhouse for two! Will definitely be returning here within the next few weeks because it was just that good!!!
We went Saturday 10/18 - 8 pm reservation for our 4th wedding anniversary and we can’t wait for the next reason to come back . No crowd at all it was wonderful ,the atmosphere was quaint and quiet . Just enough to hear the person at your table Andrzej was our server , he was attentive enough to know when we needed him and when we didn’t and that was something we love at establishments, so this was a plus . Especially since it was our anniversary and the table talk was that important. We started with the following drinks . And let me tell you the bartender did not disappoint. I had a French martini and I never had one and it was delicious , not too sweet and I’m not a raspberry girl but it was amazing . The hint of vanilla was amazing , I’d definitely order it again . My husband had a Raspberry peach margarita , I would’ve liked it without raspberry but also delicious. Second round Peach cosmo , wasn’t a fan too sweet just my taste but it was a good drink . Lynchburg’s lemonade was almost like a Jack Daniel’s Lemonade and it got the spot , so refreshing and not skimped on the alcohol either. Drinks service 10/10 Next was appetizers Caesar salad , now I read the reviews and still gave it a try and they were right . It has a hint of Russian dressing to it , was not a fan & probably wouldn’t order it again . Didn’t give the traditional taste to me . Calamari , yea give me 10 of them ,add some banana peppers and we got a deal . They were airy and light and the batter was delicious. Grilled bacon - This was a game changer for me , I’m going to need to order two next time . Yes that good , Smokey flavor and that sauce that came with it paired so well . Entree Porterhouse for two grilled to a perfection of medium rare , it was amazing. We made sure to take the bone home to our dog The char was perfection , it was fork tender even the day after We paired them with the lobster mac and cheese which was so tender juicy and decadent. And the roasted potatoes with onion and peppers , it gave off home fries vibes and I was not a fan . I expected roasted potatoes in half maybe with the skin still on. We ended the night with crème brûlée which had a faint hint of lemon that I was not a fan of and tossed the traditional taste out the window and the espresso ice cream which was decadent and delicious . The service was 10/10 Overall meal withe nuances 9/10 I’m definitely coming back !
Amber steakhouse is a beautiful restaurant with a friendly staff and a ritzy atmosphere. We came here on a date but we also saw families there so it was the best of both worlds. Our server was a very nice and attentive gentleman. The food was incredible, portion size was perfect, and the drinks were strong (a good thing) and delicious. Definitely would come back again.
Wonderful dinner from every perspective. We ordered arugula salad, fries calamari, porterhouse, amber seafood plate, and a side of fries. Excellent sauces for fried calamari, really bring out different tastes, well balanced salad, refreshing and crisp; nicely done porterhouse (move over Peter Lugar's) , crispy fries. A hearty grilled seafood and delightful variety. meticulous service: warm bread, soft butter, clean table between courses, don't stack plates in front of your nose- these should have been basic yet very rarely found these days. We had a great dinner and definitely want to come back again soon!
It was my first time in a Polish steak house. I am very positively surprised. First of all, you have to try the bacon - exquisite taste. Salmon tartare is simply delicate and delicious. Excellent grilled octopus. cooked to perfection. And the steaks are already poetry. Real perfection of cooking. waiters who know the answer to every culinary question. This is a place you have to visit and eat.
Amazing experience! My friend and I came to celebrate her birthday. Right away, we were taken care of. Our server Damian was very attentive. The food was so good! For appetizers, we had the grilled bacon and the fried calamari. It was AMAZING! For our entree, we had the 20 oz rib eye and the full rack of lamb chops. Great portions!
Est. 2010 Layout/atmosphere *Elegant (chandeliers, white table cloths, red & gold curtains, soft music); tables; old fashioned bar in middle of the restaurant (no seating) Service *Good; waiters in shirts, vests & black ties Food/drink *Sea Scallops (Avocado Mashed Potatoes, Madeira Truffle Sauce) - Good; tender fish; creamy potatoes; sweet sauce *Filet Mignon (8 oz) with Foie Gras (bordelaise sauce) - Good; creaminess from the foie gras *Gnocchi with butter, chives & truffle oil - OK; nothing noteworthy *Complimentary dinner roll (onion) with butter
My recent visit to Amber Steak House left me with conflicting feelings, as the overall experience was a tale of two halves. While the food, service, and ambiance were exceptional, the initial encounter with the hostess left much to be desired. Upon entering, I was greeted by a less-than-friendly hostess whose demeanor seemed to lack warmth and hospitality. Her lackadaisical attitude was an unexpected start to what turned out to be an otherwise delightful evening. It's worth noting that first impressions matter, and unfortunately, this one didn't set the best tone for the evening. However, as soon as we were seated, the atmosphere of Amber Steak House began to work its magic. The ambiance was sophisticated, with a blend of modern aesthetics and a cozy, inviting feel. The dim lighting and tasteful decor created an intimate setting, perfect for a dinner outing. The menu featured an array of steak options, and our server was not only knowledgeable but also passionate about the offerings. Their recommendations were spot-on, and the food that followed was nothing short of excellent. Each dish was expertly prepared, showcasing the chef's skill and a commitment to quality ingredients. From the perfectly cooked steaks to the delectable sides, every bite was a testament to the culinary expertise in the kitchen. Service throughout the meal was attentive without being intrusive. Our server demonstrated a keen understanding of pacing, ensuring that we felt well taken care of without feeling rushed. The staff's dedication to ensuring a positive dining experience was evident, and it significantly contributed to the overall enjoyment of the evening. In spite of the rocky start with the hostess, the outstanding quality of the food, the impeccable service, and the inviting ambiance ultimately won me over. While the initial encounter could use improvement, the exceptional aspects of Amber Steak House managed to shine through, leaving me with a positive overall impression. I would recommend this establishment to fellow food enthusiasts, with the hope that the front-of-house staff can match the excellence demonstrated by their culinary counterparts.
Came here to celebrate my birthday and overall enjoyed the food, drinks atmosphere and most of all the service. My bf and I ordered the scallops to start off with which were honestly our favorite dish of the night. We decided to go with the porterhouse for 2 which was pretty good and for the sides we had mashed potatoes (yum!) and the gnocchi. Wow was the gnocchi delicious. Also have to note I'm usually not a fan steak sauces served at restaurants, but theirs was pretty good. Overall it was a good meal and I'd definitely return to try a different cut of steak in the future. Prices were pretty fair and the sides and appetizer I had were great!
Hubby has always wanted to try this steakhouse and finally got around to do so over the Xmas weekend. A decent steakhouse with a little old time charm and good service. We enjoyed our dinner, the Fried Calamari was crispy outside and flavorful. Sea Scallops were huge with delicious mashed avocado Truffle Sauce. The 24oz Bone-in Ribeye was perfectly cooked to our liking and we added Foie Gras with it. Our server recommended Sautéed Spinach & Mushroom as side dish which was tasty. We finished off with Carrot Cake and Hazelnut Ice-cream. We will come back again.
My husband and I LOVE steak and this place has popped up on my IG a few times so we decided to give it a try. It’s 45 mins from us and with traffic it took us about 3 hours round trip. And for 3 hours, the food was good, but we wouldn’t make the trip back again. There isn’t really anything I could point out specifically as bad…it just missing something that would make it a wow 5 star meal. There weren’t a ton of people in the place when we went and we got stat sorta in a skinny walkway where all the staff had to walk so we felt a bit cramped. I think we could have been seated in many other seats to not be seated squished against a wall. The drinks were nice and strong, I got the filet and my husband got a bone in ribeye. We split French fries. Both steaks were cooked to our liking but again…it wasn’t anything I couldn’t get from a steakhouse that isn’t 45 mins away from us. But if you want reliably well cooked and tasty steaks, you can trust you’ll get that here!
Came here for my brother’s birthday. Very nice ambiance and great food. Service was great. Our server was very detail oriented and I loved that. I do wish though, he hadn’t rushed me with my food order. We had already placed the order for the appetizers and he was, I felt, pressuring for us to put the rest of the order. This was my Only reason why I gave this place 4 stars. Cheesecake for my brother’s birthday was on the house and our server was a very pleasant man. Will go back!
I made reservations at this place for my best friend's birthday. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. The restaurant is actually pretty small and cramped which it doesn't look like in pictures. Anyway, for appetizers we order the fried calamari and French onion soup . The Calamari was decent and the French onion soup was fair. For entrees, I ordered the Rib Eye with the bone with broccoli and mashed potatoes and my friend ordered the T-Bone with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steaks were very thick but flavorful even though we both ordered medium rare and they both came out rare. The knives they have to cut the steaks are not real steak knives so it feels like you're sawing away trying to slice it. The mashed potatoes were decent for both of us but the broccoli was hard and the asparagus was bland. All in all, nothing in this place wowed me not even the service! And For the price point of this place I would not come back. And to top it off, after I signed the check and got up from the table to walk out, our waitress decided to grab me and tell me that the tip I gave "was a mistake" and not enough! Her exact words "I think you made a mistake , we make $3.20 an hour, you need to tip more". I asked her was the tip amount mandatory and she told me "yes". However that was a lie! Even on the receipt it says that it's "suggested". This is the same waitress who barely said a word to us, barely smiled, and rushed us throughout our dinner. I watched her spark up conversations with all her other tables but not us! She's lucky she got the amount I gave her! I told her she's needs to give better service to her black customers and walked away! Never again will I step foot back there, the food isn't even that great!
I’ve eaten better ribeye steak for almost half the price at Longhorn Steakhouse than here. My friend and I both ordered 20 oz ribeyes and both were not cooked to our liking. See attached for what was supposed to be a medium rare. The center of the steak was almost too rare to even eat. Otherwise, the restaurant’s fine for what it is, nothing special. Apps were decent. Wouldn’t come back here again as we weren’t satisfied with what we paid for.
Our date experience for 2 We were excited to try Amber’s Steakhouse as it had been on our list to try out for a while. Unfortunately, we have to report it was an overall mediocre experience. Let’s start with the service, we felt it was quite rushed and abrupt. The way our waitress splashed the oil of our sizzling porterhouse steak all over the table was of course accidental, but the response to it not very professional. Some of the oil came on my jacket which I found out about later. Then the food, it was honestly very average, whereby the steak was OK but we definitely had better. The creamed spinach (oh my!) was definitely not freshly made and tasted like it was from a package. The mashed potato were OK, a bit bland. The mushrooms however were quite good. The drinks: I ordered a Margarita cocktail, which I wouldn’t recommend. The cherry on the cake though was really the totally weird trance/techno-playlist from the early 2000´s (what’s going on there?), the price was around $280, so we had expected quite a better experience for this amount. We left wondering what really went wrong here.
To start, the food was absolutely delicious. For appetizers, we had the grilled bacon and calamari. The calamari beat my expectation and the bacon was good at best. The Porterhouse steak was cooked to perfection, all of the sides we had met our expectations, and even better- their cocktails were well crafted and delicious. I would definitely come back again just for the food. Our waiters were attentive, patient and friendly. Now for the downside.. there is not a strict dress code for this restaurant. We walked in dressed and prepared for a steakhouse. At first, it was confusing because you would think that you accidentally walked into an Applebee’s. We saw people wearing full sweats, hats on, being loud- the ambience truly killed the experience that my friends and I were gearing towards. Therefore, I want to say that this is a more casual restaurant for great bites and drinks if you’re looking for that kind of occasion. If you plan on dressing up for a special occasion and enjoying a nice intimate setting with your company, I definitely would not recommend this restaurant.
When they first opened we would go frequently but over the years with the opening of Raizes a Portuguese restaurant known for freshest seafood a block away I’ve noticed that Amber has completely copied Raizes menu from grilled oysters, octopus, seafood tower, seafood plate etc… Although it’s a compliment to be copied it’s surely not original or a good neighbor move…
The flavor of the steak was definitely there I just would’ve enjoyed it better the way I wanted it cooked. I feel as though when I asked for medium rare they cooked it for too long forgetting that the plate is still going to cook the steak so now my steak is well done once it reaches the table I also feel like most steak houses will send you out a new steak being that they over cooked your order ,here they just looked at me like “ well that’s how you ordered it” and I’m not sure if the service wasn’t up to par because we were a table of 5 of black folk but I feel for the price the service wasn’t up to par, I didn’t feel the steak house experience if you know what I mean …. I’ve been to other steakhouses where the service was better than the actual food and I would return there than coming back to Ambers . This place opened in 2010 so they’re still crawling but the potential to be up to the more seasoned big names steak houses is definitely there .
Wouldn’t exchange my food for a better entree— so keep the $36 entree and this scathing review. Rave reviews on TikTok led me to the some of the best scallops I’ve had in a while and THE absolute WORST DUCK and stuffed apple I’ve ever had in my life (yuk). Duck seemed more like a reheat — dry. The restaurant was completely unwilling to change it out for something more palatable or better tasting. The manager wasn’t there and Pehea the waitress was adamant all she could do was exchange the side item which had leaked bitterly appalling and criminally offensive beet juice all over the plate 🤢. What’s wrong with people today? (I happen to like beets and have been fortunate to have some great tidbits of beets in my life and I love duck). These shredded red abominations were not in the same class. Waitress Pehea claimed I’d eaten the leg though I’d only taken three bites as the photo shows. She also refused to take it off of the bill, so as my family ate, I posted the despicably deplorable entree for the world to see. Thank you for being surly enough to spell your name which was easier than fixing the problem. Do better Waitress Pehea — your disposition is as displeasing as the duck meal! Twenty minutes later, my daughter asked a male waiter and he had the duck removed. When we got the bill it was gone, meanwhile unnecessary conflict over exchanging or removing had ruined my evening meal as I sat disgruntled while others ate. (I don’t argue in public; I made my request multiple times and accepted Pehea’s putrid reply— I won’t beg for food and at this price shouldn’t have had to). Anyone can accidentally serve an unpalatable meal — it’s how you recover customer satisfaction that matters and in this Waitress Pehea, the representative for the evening, left me believing there were other menu fails. Not returning. Don’t go. For great service and great food go to Knickerbocker or da Toscana.
When I spend over $300 for two people I don’t want service that makes me feel rushed. My tip reflected that. Not the best steak house I have ever been in.Thats all I have to say about that
Did not like the service. I felt rushed. The servers were moving really fast pertaining to everything. Appetizers took long to come out. The entrees took even longer. I came with a party of 8 everyone had some sort of gripe with this establishment. My food was not good at all. I order the strip with shrimp and scampi sauce. Shrimp was really dry and I have never had a more tasteless scampi sauce. It tasted like water and steak drippings. The steak was flavorless as well. I don't like seasoned steak aside from salt and pepper.. The steak didn't do for me at all.Never been to a steakhouse where the steak was not the star. Never going back to Amber Steakhouse. Oh and that beet stuffed apple was horrible. I had high hopes for it.
I hate to make this review a race thing but sadly, it’s something we still have to deal with even in NYC! If you’re black and dining at Amber Steak House, ask for Alexander! HE’S AWSOME! I started off with a female server who was cold and dismissive! She seated me, took my order and disappeared for the entire evening! She didn’t even introduce herself! If you are Russian, you will get amazing service at Amber Steak House since most of staff with the exception of the bus boys are Russian and I witnessed the treatment that they give their Russian customers! If you’re black, ask for Alex because he will treat you the same way he treats everyone! Now on to the food! My medium rare ribeye without the bone was over cooked and dry! I had to chew it so much, my jaw became sore! The highlights of the evening were the peach martini, spinach & mushroom mix and the bread! I should also mention that the bus boys are awesome! They not only clear the table between courses, they were very friendly and checked on me during my meal. I will not be returning to Amber steak house! I should have gone to Keen’s which was my original plan!
I am regular since I moved to Greenpoint (as dine-in and takeout). This review is for the female hostess in the entrance who wears a suit. Professional development is needed. Superficial - her real attitude quicly surfaced. I told her I had a pickup and she questioned if the order was "really" mine or if I was the one personally placed the order --- while raising an eyebrow at me. It is was if the level of courtesy she wanted to give was determined if I was a 3rd party delivery app driver or the actual customer. I asked a follow up question & she aburptly cut me off to raise her voice at a nearby male waiter "can you help this person" ... and proceeded conversation with another customer behind me. I must say the male waiters are genuinely kind. Very shocked since I had an amazing experience with the female greeter who wears glasses who is there late-night. She was the total opposite of the morning female hostess. A quick scroll through the negative comments and it seems biased treatment is a reoccurence.
Don’t let TikTok fool you!! My mate and I went to celebrate our anniversary and it definitely ruined the celebration. Don’t get me wrong, the decor and interior was really nice and Chic. The servers were really attentive and personable but the food is a whole other ballgame. The lemon drop cocktail was the star of this show. The calamari was bland and lukewarm. I ordered the creamed spinach which tasted bland and a bit freezer burnt . The spinach had the worst after taste. The lobster Mac and cheese was runny and grainy. You can tell a roux was the main point in making this mac and cheese but it was so underwhelming. The lobster Mac and cheese was extremely disappointing. My surf and turf was pretty good but a bit on the cold side. The waiter traded out the lobster Mac and cheese for mashed potato but when he brought it out they were ice cube cold (lowkey like vanilla icecream). The only hot thing was my mates steak which they took back and replaced when they realized he was shaking the table trying to cut into the steak that was supposed to medium and not overly well done. He was shaking the table so hard all we could do was apologize to the patrons next to us and laugh embarrassingly lol. The manager was nice and understanding but nothing was taken off the bill for our less than stellar experience. Very disappointed in my first visit here. Doubt I’ll come back.
