Food is good. Best curry goat I've ordered out in the street. Mac salad is very good. Only complaint I could have is the service. This place came highly recommended while my family was in the hospital. The wait the first time was over 20 mins. The cashier was extremely slow. The person serving had to keep telling her take the orders of the people in line. She was worried about getting the delivery orders out. The second time was during the day and a weekday. Luckily I was the only person ordering and they did my order right there. I dont frequent jamaican restaurants as I can have it at home. But this is the type of food I look for when I do. The curry goat is really good
This place brings me back to my days of high school. Food is always on point. The lines always long. My first dish was the oxtail rice and peas and macaroni salad. It's was so delicious. I ordered that a lot. Then I wanted to try something else, so I tried their curry goat with white rice and macaroni salad. It was pretty good. Also tried the fried chicken with rice and peas oxtail gravy and macaroni salad, and it too was delicious. Their food is always on point. One time, I tried their red velvet cake, and it was amazing. Food 10 out of 10. Wait time 8 out of 10. Customer service 9 out of 10.
You could walk right by the restaurant, there's no lighting outside to distinguish the restaurant from the regular businesses on the block. I could be wrong but there food appears to have a sweet taste as if they added just a bit more sugar than needed. Besides that I didn't enjoy the meal and would go back....
Curry Chicken roti wasn't good at all. Old wrap and curry chicken had so many bones. The crowfoot soup was good. I was craving a curry chicken roti and that is my disappointment.
I know this post is more than 5 days late, but better later than never. I have bought food from this place on 2 different occassions and it was decent but, on Wednesday 20th Aug 25, I bought a Lg Stew Chicken w Ric n Peas w/ salad. I went home and started eating and realize the rice was a bit Salty. I thought that it was just where it was just the little portion I took out, but the more I ate, the more salt I taste. I left some back for the next day and it was still salty, i did not want to throw it away. I drank water n kept it going. Whoever was the chief/cook that day, probably had a heavy hand.
Their food taste so amazing. Unfortunately they are super slowwwwwww and I mean that literally I only get one hour break when I’m working. I literally was there 45 minutes just for a small macaroni salad with stew chicken that’s how slow they are. 15 minutes left. I receive my food. I had to swallow it. I couldn’t even enjoy it. That’s how slow these people are the guy at the register super fast. The people that serve you and makes the food to put it in the trays, they are super slow. I would suggest this is a perfect place to go get something to eat at but the wait time is the worst. Other than that. The food taste awesome is just they are super slow if you think you’re gonna go in there and get your food super fast it’s not happening you can’t even place the order to pick up. That’s how slow they are 🤷🏽♀️
I wasn't feeling well ,so i ordered 2 fry chicken meal and it was so dry and spicy that my kids weren't able to eat any of it and I only eat some of it. Please be mindful about putting too much pepper in the food has everyone tolerance level for spicy food is different. I have been purchasing food from this restaurant for years and I don't remember their food being this spicy so probably won't be purchasing food from them again.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. THERE IS HAIR IN MY FOOD !!!!!! I PAID EXTRA FOR MAC SALAD AND THEY STUFFED A TINY BIT NEXT TO MAYO-FREE COLESLAW IN A SMALL CONTAINER. THE RICE WAS MUSHY. BBQ CHICKEN SALTY. NOTHING TASTED GOOD ON THIS LATE AFTERNOON OF 02/21/2026. I DONT HAVE TO SEE THEM TO KNOW THEY HAVE A NASTY ATTITUDE SMH THE BEHAVIOR SHOWS. I SAVED MY APPETITE ALL DAY TO ORRDER FROM HERE 🤦🏻♀️ C J HAS BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTING.
Never have what u want it’s really a patty shop today is my last day here I’m tired of this now the force me to pay for medium Food when I only need a small “ no small container” like dem tek man fi fool
Service is way below standard. I give this place a negative or 0 star. I would not advice anyone to spend their hard earn money on this establishment.
My GOODNESS! I’m writing this review as I’m waiting here in line. It’s almost 9pm and I ordered over 25 minutes ago. The food is PREPARED AND READY but the staff moving SOOOO SLOWLY. I know this is standard Jamaican restaurant customer service but we have to do better!!! People have been waiting here long before me. Hungry faces everywhere. The food is ALRIGHT but this level of customer service will make anything taste sour. The gentlemen service the food are just tuned into their music and moving 1 dish an hour. Food is truly just ALRIGHT. Nothing special at all
I’m actually so pissed. I ordered a large stew peas bc it’s Christmas. Mind you. I always get the medium. And it’s a lot of stew to rice. Lots of pieces od meat for the price. WHYYYY is the large like just EXTRA rice. I got two piece of meat with barely any meat on it and the rest was fat. I will never get a large again. I’m so pissed. It’s Christmas. My first one away from my Daughter AND my mother. And I’m single and in a shelter momentarily. This was supposed to be my Christmas dinner away from home.
Worst experience ever, I ordered online to avoid being outside to long since I was not feeling well but I needed to move my car so I has to go out. I waited 20 mins before going to do pick up to give time requested. I get there and it's packed so I'm glad I ordered ahead but apparently ahead means that your wait time will be three times as long. I waited to make it up to the front of line and asked about my order after belong in there for 25 mins already. The guy looks at my phone sees the slip for my order (that is not even started) takes out the rice only and walks away and then takes out his lunch and disappears into the back, leaving my rice open to everyone passing. Another 10 mins goes by and a lady sees the half done order and completes it. I got my order about 40 mins after getting to the store. I get home and the jerk chicken looks burned and has no taste at all. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR ENERGY. GO UP THE BLOCK TO PEPPAS FOR GOOD JAMAICAN FOOD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. C&J SUCKS
My boyfriend ordered from this restaurant for us yesterday. The pictures on the site look amazing. But what we got was far from that. Maybe we got the end-of-the-day food that had been sitting under the warmer for a few hours, which is the only logical conclusion for what we were served. So this review will be more on the side of criticism than praise. After trying both my food and my boyfriends food, I had to leave feedback in hopes by hearing of our experience the owner & staff raises the bar for future guests. The food leaves much to be desired. I had the stew chicken with rice & peas, plantain and lettuce. My boyfriend had curry chicken with white rice and macaroni salad. The rice & peas were cooked well and tasted nice. The stew chicken was overcooked (tough and dry) and difficult to chew. There was no sauce on the dish at all. I had to ask my bf if it was stew chicken because it looked more like jerk chicken. The plantain was charred black, overcooked, and inedible. The lettuce was just that: shaved lettuce with a few strips of carrot. It was bland and flavorless. Perhaps a bit of salt, pepper, a dash of lemon juice, and a bit of olive oil or even some Italian dressing would perk it up a bit. The curry chicken was tender but dry (no sauce/gravy) although the flavor was decent. The white rice was white rice. It could use a little more salt but that's more of a personal preference. The macaroni salad was fair. The noodles were cooked al denté and the sauce tasted nice although it was a bit too runny (perhaps using a slotted spoon for serving could minimize this). The flavor of the macaroni salad was on the sweet side for me (a pinch of salt or cooking the noodles in salted water would offer balance). But that's also a personal preference. Overall this food missed the mark for me big time. It definitely doesn't translate as authentic Jamaican food and I won't be suggesting we order from here in the future unless changes are made. 1/10
I was feeling sick. So i ask my husband to purchase two large soups from this place. I ask for just broth with vegetables and meat(chicken) i didn'twant the ground provisionand dumplins because I'm diabetic. Firstly, there was only one tiny piece of chicken in each soup, (a large soup). And barely any vegetables. The soup itself was disgusting, taste like peppered water. No flavor, no body. The texture was that of chicken stock I will never purchase here again. This is not the first time I've had a bad experience with the quality of food from this place. C&J need to do better. Jamaican food is pricey and the quality is not worth the price from this place.
I placed an online order at CJ Cafe and waited for over an hour, only to be told by the staff that they would not even start preparing my order until all in-person customers were served first. This is completely unacceptable. Online orders should be treated with the same priority and respect as dine-in customers. Very unprofessional service and a terrible experience.
Store is hot and cashier is busy holding conversation instead of taking orders, then you would think after you wait for 20 minutes the food would be good! rice tasted like ginger and had chunks of ginger in it…then the oxtail and mac and cheese taste like it was used from the day before! 0/10!
Ordered stew peas for my grandma #1 this is NOT STEWPEAS!!! Why bother take people hard earned $$ and give them this foolishness!!!! These peas weren’t stewed at all! Where in Jamaican linage “stew peas and pigtail” is cooked like this! $15 for this?! Then the jerk pork ($17)tough/hard and full of browning! Not to mention the fake coleslaw!!!….that was full of sugar why is the coleslaw so sweet! It hurt me that restaurants like yourselves are going around selling FAKE JAMAICAN Food! Shame on you!!! I will never buy anything from you guys on Uber eats ever again! This was my 1st and definitely last time ordering from CJs! Do better!
