The food is so delicious and the people there are so so nice! My colleagues and I order from Mama Louisa's regularly. YUM!!!
Great service and artichoke parm lives up to the hype! Delicious!
Great old style Italian sandwiches. Eggplant parmesan and italian combos are outstanding.
Always good food and the new owners are very friendly like the old. Been going there for years.
Love this spot. A treasure and a gem. My faves include the chicken parm, and mixed Italian. Gracious staff.
I lived across the street from this place for a couple years and I MISS IT. Best breakfast sandwich in the entire city, hands down. Incredible sandwiches, nice people.
Artichoke Parm is good, want to try more. Great staff!
The heroes here are top notch. You can taste the fresh turkey here. Better than Subway and D’Angelos. Keep up the great work!!!
The heroes here are superb best sandwiches thanks god I found them their broccoli rabe and sausages it's unbelievable. Great job guys keep up the good work
Fresh and delicious chicken parmagiana sandwiches just minutes away from Kings County Hospital and Downstate. Just right for when the post-call cravings hit.
Fantastic Hero Shop in the heart of Brooklyn. Classic menu with available flexibilities. Shrimp Parm with hot peppers is my fave!!!!
I 💘 this place because on my 34th birthday they did my footlong hero sandwich it was delicious now im traveling back in that path again im stopping by for breakfast and lunch and its just as delicious as before
The food is freshly made and always delicious. The staff is friendly and professional. Great delivery service. Thank you
Best coffee in town! We‘been there almost every day for coffee and bagels and it’s been great everytime. Thank you so much! 🙌🏻
Great sandwiches for breakfast and Lunch and they aren't stingy you get a nice sized sandwich for your money
They listen to customers unlike the previous owners. Happy with the new management.
Their food is delicious!! Always fresh. Excellent staff especially the lady that works the register.
Old school hero shop and deli, best one in the area. Has beer. Only flaw is their delivery is very slow sometimes.
A true Brooklyn GEM. I recommend the Hot Turkey Hero w/ gravy n mushrooms. CLASSIC. It will make your day.
Order from here when iam at work . My go to is the shrimp scampi salad with salad . Omg . The best so tasty.
New attached coffee shop is amazing! Great service, not gentrified, good prices, great drink selection.
My son and I are fans for life. It a little place with a whole lotta soul. My favorite sandwich there is the meatloaf with the onion gravy.
I went 1 time and had to keep going cuz there sandwiches are delicious. Believe me.
I ordered a genoa salami hero and a turkey hero. The sandwiches were wonderful. The bread and the cold cuts were fresh. The food was delivered in a timely fashion. The prices were amazing as well. I will be using them again. Delicious!!!!
Embarrased to say...I can eat an entire large sandwich. It's that GOOD! I have been ordering from this spot for 5+ years and have yet to have a bad experience. Delivery is always fast and the sandwiches are always consistent. With everything changing around the Brooklyn I have known for 26 years I pray this spot never closes! Brooklyn needs more shops like this!
I've known about Mama Louisa's for years maybe since I was a little kid. I was back in the neighborhood and was surprised to see it was still there. The sandwiches were delicious, and I had a chance to introduce my son to them as well.
The sandwiches here are simply divine and worth the wait. They're quite delicious, generous in serving, and wonderfully comforting. One of my favorite spots when attending Farm School NYC courses in the area.
Mama's has been around since I was in high school many years ago. It was the best place to go for a hero then, and it's still one of the best places in Brooklyn to go for a hero now.. I agree that delivery is slow, but that is because there are so many orders during the week. It's best to call ahead and pick up your order if possible.
I have been going to this store for more than 30 years. This is a new owner, she is doing well. This shop has been in the neighborhood for more than 30 yrs. New owners took over recently,The food is still up to the excellent standards that were set in my youth. Food is fresh, well prepared, and tasty. A must for heros..
I have been going to Mama Louisa's since I was 4 years old. My school was right around the corner so I was able to get my breakfast sandwich. The owner knows me well and they makes the most awesome meatball heroes that I have ever tasted.
i love this shop so much. i feel lucky to be within walking distance. great service and prices. the food is ALWAYS good :). if you want onions on your sandwich make sure to ask
Amazing hot Italian combo.. Tell me you can eat a large one in one sitting. I doubt it. It's like 4 sandwiches. There is a wait. Proper preparation of great things require time, so take in the store, itself. We'll be coming back here.
Interesting combination of a bodega and Italian hero shop. All the food I've ever had there was great and priced very reasonable. Been going there on and off for 20 years.
They make the best tuna sandwich in the neighborhood apart from Downstate Hospital cafeteria. And they have started having a different menu. Which is nice. Always welcoming.
I've recently discovered this place and tried their heros. They were delicious and I was surprised by the portion size for the price I paid. It was bigger than I thought it would be and definitely a good value for my money. It's easy to see why this place has been there for so long.
My go to spot for a sandwich. It’s amazing. Fresh, fast and variety.
One of the best sandwich shops in Brooklyn! I love the cold Italian Combo sandwich and also the cuban sandwich. Picking which one to order is always a dilemma! Oh and super lovely staff!
Artichoke parm sandwich- so good.
I love mama Louisa it just not the same since they got new management like no love is being put in the sandwiches any more
Ride the subway 2 hours to get the artichoke parm and it was well worth it, would absolutely do it again 🤤
A wonderful throwback to yesteryear and they make a great sandwich. The Italian Combo is a hot sandwich and really hits the spot. The meatballs are also great.
The meatball sub is amazing. Such an unassuming location for such a quality sub.
TACOS WITH PINEAPPLE ARE THE BEST.SHRIMP AND PIEK SOFT TACOS.I AM ADDICTED.
My go to breakfast place for potatoes and eggs on a roll. So affordable, deliciously put together, and a1 service. I walk past several delis on my way to school just to come here, the best!
The sandwiches are always made with love and delicious very tasty and made with adequate amounts of added meats and condiments and multiple options of cheese. Hot sandwiches are available. Customer service is superb and always have to stop when I drive buy. The man that prepares this sandwich, is the engineer of thee sandwich. Prepares it in a manner easy to handle without anything getting out of place and messy. Don't forget to tip. Guaranteed if it's your first time going, after you enjoy your sandwich you will definitely be back.🤗👍🏾💪🏾
Hidden gem of the neighborhood. If you want a real Italian sandwich with everything that makes it great, come here. Their Italian special is a fantastic deal, filled with some fine quality meats normally local to other neighborhoods and fancier delis. Their hot heroes are great as well. Keep in mind this place closes before the dinner hours, and does not have seating. For a quick stop to buy lunch for on the go, it can't be beat.
This was my first time ordering despite living in the area for 19 years. The Hot Pastrami was so delicious and 5 times better than Subway's version. My family loves it too and I look forward to eating from them more often. The only con was the super long wait for delivery. Made the order at 10:16 only for it to arrive at 12:13. But I'm willing to overlook it because the food was so good! You get the $6-$7 worth of a hero!
Cute little corner shop with outstanding sandwiches. Hot pastrami = A+ and the service is warm and friendly. We are visiting from Chicago but came here twice in one weekend.
Came with a group 4 days in a row for breakfast and drinks, and (presumably) Louisa was amazing and kind, the food was great, and the hospitality was warm. I appreciated every time we visited. Helped me start my day off right
I’ve lived nearby for nearly 8 years and somehow missed this hidden gem. I recently saw an article about their unique artichoke parmigiana hero, and finally had a chance to order that and their egg salad hero and also potato salad delivery. Not only was everything extremely affordable, it came quickly and was DELICIOUS!! The artichoke parm was a revelation, hit a spot like a classic nyc meatball sub in a vegetarian way. The potato salad was OFF THE wall good. And the egg salad was totally solid. This is my new local affordable favorite. Heads up they close at 4:30pm so get your order in earlier in day.
Great local corner bodega spot! Looks like a small deli with cold cuts up front but the back has a full-size restaurant grade kitchen and all their hot foods and sandwiches are top quality! Prices are unbeatable! At least 1$ less than any comparable place in the area, across the board.
Food was enough 😋 Tasted amazing they make great tacos 🌮
this place has so much good vibes going on in it. Really love having this place here in their new taco shop is super awesome right next to the place.
Came for the artichoke parm after reading an article about it. It did not disappoint. Indescribably delicious. Lots of delicious drinks to choose from.
We saw an article in Bon Appetit magazine about the artichoke parm hero, and we had to try it. So delicious!! The staff is really nice too. Mama Louisa's is an old-school Bklyn sandwich shop. We will be back!
Amazing sandwiches, finally got the artichoke parm and I already cannot wait to come back! The staff are super friendly and kind. Classic Brooklyn deli!
Recently started working in the neighborhood and found this place via Grubhub. The food is really tasty and good size portions. I highly recommend it!
These are the best sandwiches in the neighborhood and I am a sandwich snob. If you pay attention to the bad reviews here they are written by ignorant people and riddled with spelling/grammar errors. Do not trust the bad reviews. The sandwiches are high quality - everything from the bread to portions to ingredients are 5 star.
Yes you may wait awhile so call and order ahead. Some of the best sandwiches I've ever had in NYC! I recommend not going at lunch time they're super busy from all the hospital workers nearby. I feel bad for the one person working behind the counter, she's answering the phone taking orders and packing up food. Leave a tip
Had a delicious hot pastrami hero sandwich, good bread, good portion of meat, well dressed, will definitely be back. Went back Parmesan artichoke is deelish
I bought ceaser salad, it was good the first day , 2nd day was not as good cos somebody put the salad cream over salad.pls do not do that cos u do not know how soon the customer will eat ,.the cream on it makes the lettuce soggy..put the salad cream by it ..thnks though
Regular neighborhood corner sandwich spot.
Delicious sandwich love, ESPECIALLY the meatball parm. Maybe needs a TINY bit more salt/seasoning, but lucky that's an eaay fix - and otherwise spectacular.
Love love love this place. The owner and his wife along with their staff r very courteous and friendly. If ur ever in the neighborhood go check then out.
We really liked the artichoke parm sandwich. It was cheesy and the artichoke flavor really complimented the sauce. It’s too bad they don’t have a table to sit at.
I have been buying veal and cheese sandwiches from this place for 48 years since I was in high-school and it's still the same great sandwich. Go there and try one of their sandwiches you will like it, and the people are friendly.
The food is always fresh and right on point, never have issues with messing up orders. Growing up in Brooklyn I've always came to this spot and no other store, now that I live in Florida it's hard to find other sandwiches as good as this one do when I come back to visit I make sure I get my fix
The food is delicious, the staff are friendly, the prices are reasonable, but the service is very slow. So if you have patience you’ll enjoy what they put out.
They now have authentic taco 🌮. So good. Only take - out.
Decent family owned bodega/sandwich shop. Good prices, fresh sandwiches hot or cold. One of my favorite Italian sub sandwiches (although they don’t add pickles or hots to their Italian sub, it’s extra$). Order in advance around lunchtime or you’ll be waiting in line, sandwiches are made on order- I have to drive to get there but worth it. Nice folks : )
This was a great go to neighborhood spot they sold the business she kept Frank he cooks but the food is not as good the menu still the same food no good
The people are nice make a nice sandwich for you on the go.The coffee is good and the egg sandwich 🥪 is just the way I like it.go try it for yourself you may like it.
It's probably a nice local deli but I didn't really like my experience. The man shortchanged me about 20 cents (and knew it) and didn't seem to care too much or even address it. The meatball sub was good, if a little soggy. Make sure you tell him exactly what you want in the sandwich if you actually want it in the sandwich.
Bad delivery service! Takes a hr plus to get a 10 min made sandwich. Some adjustments should be made like more than one delivery person. they make more than enough money to have another. Other than that the sandwiches are good.
Want to like this place more but half the time I order, the chicken cutlet on the sandwich is tough as nails, dry, and seems microwaved.
Passed this place and thought how rare it was to see a “hero shop” so I thought I’d try and it would be more respectable than a bodega sandwich. There were a lot of people in there so it seemed like a good choice now I’m realizing it was construction workers, hospital workers and transplants from all the new construction who have limited lunch choices or just don’t know any better. $12 normal hero had a strange sweet like vinegar taste that ruined the whole thing. It was mostly lettuce and there was barely any meat. The bread is also sad yoga mat bread. Overpriced and underwhelming. Maybe the hot sandwiches are better. Everyone in there works hard but its no “hero shop”.
Good sandwiches but was told two different times delivery minimum was $10 and $15
Been going here since a kid when Frank left it went downhill fast smh food service the sandwich guy 🫢
No frills just great service, cold beer and decent sandwiches- ! I come in here about 3x a week and I usually get the Italian combo hero and a cold beer. Dont get anything else bc its not very good. They run a great little spot. Pros - decent portions, great service, cold beer, really nice people working here, easy location & not some stupid hipster nonsense Cons: Variable quality, kinda dingy and cramped, long wait times, bad chicken, good heros limited to only the Italian combo.
Very expensive and food is tasteless. The service is terrible. The prices change from day to day.
They are incredibly slow and terrible at prioritizing orders in the order they are received. Three bagels should not take 35 minutes.
This spot used to have the best sandwiches. Totally fell off.
Well I bought a chicken parmesan and it was hands down the worst sandwich I’ve ever had it was dry and NO seasoning not to mention No cheese
I wish there was a way to display ZERO STARS! Ordered pancakes and home fries: The pancakes are like big sponge frisbees that show no cooking talent... Plain and boring! The homefries consisted of big potato chunks WITHOUT the slightest hint of onion/green peppers/ salt or pepper. What a joke! Hey moma louisa if you cant take pride in your craft/ work : FUGG OFF!
Hell no !!! I miss the old owners
Mama Louisiana has Left The Building 13 dollar sandwich looked like I got it from the bodega.. Get Rid of New management.. Do Not Buy Nothing From This Spot till that Old Lady Come Back.. smh.. I told him keep the Money .. Waste of Time..
The Veal Parmigiana is not breaded. The veal was rough no flavor, the sauce watered down, and the chesse had no flavor. I was totally disappointed, nothing like the old Mama Louisa's.They wouldn't give me my money back. The woman toally unprofessional.
I have been going to his shop since I was a kid. I live in the neighborhood. When Frank and his wife owned it, the food was fresh, the fresh Turkey sandwich was delicious. They were slow but worth the wait and reasonably priced. Now that they retired and sold the shop the quality of food sucks and the prices are high and inconsistent. One min your paying $4.50 for a basic chicken salad sandwich with just white bread and come back a couple of weeks later and the lady is charging $6.00 for the same sandwich. I remember Frank always had soft bread, these new people must keep bread out for a few days. The hero bread is always hard and crusty As if it had been there a few days. They charge full price if you bring your own bread. Sad to say I will NEVER COMEBACK TO MY CHILDHOOD FAVORITE.......
By far the worst chicken parm I’ve ever had. The cutlet was so tough, I could barely take a bite out of it. Haven’t tried anything else, but I won’t be going again.
I used to order several times a week but all of a sudden my address, which is less than a mile away, is no longer in the area. Oh well.
I’ve been coming here since the early 2000s, back when Frank was the owner. It used to be a neighborhood staple — reliable, consistent, and worth the visit. Last week, I ordered a sandwich on a roll — first mistake: they put it on a hero. Then the bread was so hard I could barely take two bites before tossing it. I still gave them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe it was just an off day. Today I came back and ordered French toast with scrambled eggs and beef sausage. 1. What kind of beef sausage is this? It looked and tasted like “brown and serve” — completely unacceptable for a deli that used to take pride in quality ingredients. 2. The eggs? Nothing scrambled about them. They looked like they were meant for a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich — flat, overcooked, and lifeless. I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl, and it’s honestly sad to say — never again. The quality has gone downhill, and it’s just not the same place anymore.
