We had a celebratory lunch at Flora this week for our daughter and her friend who were graduating college, and it was amazing! They had many delicious options including something for the vegans among us :) We dined outside on a beautiful, sunny day and enjoyed fresh spaghetti al pomodorino, the costoletta di maiale impanata (breaded pork chop) and their prosciutto di Parma panini ~ everything was so delicious! The service was top-notch and the food out of this world!!

A hidden gem in Park Slope! Flora delivers the perfect balance of tradition and innovation. The Cilentana cuisine is delicious, and the ambiance is cozy.

Authentic Italian cafe. Excellent Panini's using imported meats and cheeses. The owner is very gracious and hospitable. If you haven't been to Italy and want to experience the Italian Bar (coffees), this is the place to head to.

Flora never ceases to amaze! I often feel as if I wandered into a small trattoria in a little known but highly regarded town in Italy. I am a regular and will continue to be!

Excellent, authentic southern Italian food. My spouse and I had lunch at one of the three tables outside. Thankfully, it was a warm day. Emiliano was very nice, and the food was impressive. Will definitely return.

The owner is from Salerno. The food is top notch. The wine, though pricey by the glass, is very good. We also enjoyed a cocktails. They cook the pasta al dente as it should be. The bacala is excellent if you like that sort of thing. Just shut the eff up and give these people money. It's worth it. (also there's no tipping here)

This neighborhood restaurant is an absolute hidden gem and truly a special place in the culinary world. Upon entering, I was welcomed by a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance. The warm lighting, tasteful décor and attentive staff instantly put me at ease and set the tone for an amazing night. The ambiance was only outshined by the star of the show …the FOOD! Each dish was prepared with love and bursting with flavors that can awaken even the most dormant taste buds. The freshness of the ingredients was evident, and you could taste the attention to detail in every mouthwatering bite. Each dish I tasted was better than the next and left me craving more. If you're seeking a gastronomic adventure that will leave a lasting impression, don't miss the opportunity to visit this extraordinary establishment. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Oh, what an incredible experience at this charming Italian gem in Brooklyn! It's the perfect spot for brunch or dinner with loved ones, where you'll be treated to the most delightful flavors of Italy. The food was simply wonderful, and I couldn't resist trying the Mascarpone Affogato Tiramisu for dessert – it was truly awesome! The warm and friendly atmosphere made me feel right at home. I can't wait to return with more friends and family for another memorable dining adventure! Grazie mille for a fantastic time! 🇮🇹🍝🍰

Had the burrata, gnocchi, and eggplant parm. Momma always said leave room for dessert, and while this was the most delicious meal I've had in 2023, the dessert was divine. 100% great date spot, too. Gratuity is included and that is reflected in the pricing but honestly if you go out to eat often you'll barely notice the difference in price. There's a reason they've recently gotten a Michelin shout out.

Totally awesome and authentic super-fresh southern Italian cuisine. Lovely coffee. The wine list is small, but super quality. It's run by a lovely couple from Campania, and they import their cheeses and meats directly themselves. Great spot for lunch, brunch or dinner. Wish they opened for breakfast...... Highly recommended.

A slice of Italy here in park slope. Authentic, simple delicious with fresh ingredients. Best wine list, love the “tip included” ethos. Crave the lemon ravioli for days.

Impeccable ❤️ we walked in last night and it was such a treat - haven’t tasted such amazing ingredients since last trip to Italy. They were super-accommodating and even after the kitchen closed made us a gorgeous little plate of appetizers. The wine selection is quite unique and it was so nice to be introduced to new gems :) can’t wait to come back and thank you to the owners!

Phenomenal dinner where each dish is better than the last. Quality ingredients meticulously crafted into mouth watering dishes. The ambience is also fantastic, and the owners are a delight! Can’t wait to go back.

We are the luckiest people in the world to have this place as our local. The food is authentically Italian homemade style with perfect ingredients and pleasantly sized portions. Everything on the menu is fantastic. The place is beautiful inside and out, and the owners and staff are just the loveliest people. Great cocktails, great wine selection, and you have to sample from their artisanal beer mini-selection - this is a new-ish phenomenon in Italy, past decade or so, and there’s some delicious beer coming out. This is the only place I’ve found so far in NYC serving it.

C

Had the burrata affumicata and the gnocchi ripieni al pesto, both of which were very good. The ricotta & pera dessert, however, was possibly the best dessert I've ever had. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, and I love having some tip-free restaurant options. I wouldn't have minded seeing some more non-spritz cocktail options on the menu, but that's an incredibly minor thing.

M
Melinbz

Loved the simple menu. Most of the dishes (and wines) come directly from the Cilento region of southern Italy and I appreciate that Emiliano and Rosella are offering something a bit different than the usual Italian fare found everywhere. I also deeply appreciate that they've adopted a "no tipping" policy and are actually paying their staff a decent wage. The excellent food and great service prove that this strategy is not only sane and just, but also highly effective. Here's to more restaurants following suit. 🥂

Flora is probably one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. My son and I had a late lunch on a sunny Friday afternoon. We set on the lovely terrace and enjoyed the delicious food. We had Paccheri Pomodorini e Burrata, and Tagliatelle con Porcini. Both were fantastic. Such a harmony of tastes and no compromises. The chef definitely knows what she is doing.

A gem in park slope! Our new favorite Italian restaurant of the neighborhood. We tried the ravioli, meatballs and the artichoke and seafood appetizer + the pistachio dessert, all of them were 11/11. The ingredients are so fresh, every bite is a masterpiece. Would come again like every week.

Wow, for once real Italian food. The pasta, perfectly al’dente, high quality ingredients , and excellent service. As a knowledgeable and high maintenance foodie I’m very focused on the quality, service, and price all aligning to make sense. I’ve been here multiple times and the quality is the same every time! It hits on all levels! Flora is authentic, delicious, and all around great including wine choices and desserts. They definitely earned their Michelin star!

We love Flora! We don’t eat out often but when we do it’s at Flora. Every dish we’ve tried (and it’s a lot) are all amazing. The attention to quality ingredients and classic recipes from their hometown and family sets Flora above the rest! It’s hard to pick a favorite dish, the polpo, lasagna, ravioli, pork chop…. The list goes on for must try dishes. And save room for the dessert. The torta Caprese is sublime and the delizia Al limone transports you to the southern coast of Italy with the first bite. Worth a trip for just this dessert! I can’t recommend Flora enough.

I'm Italian and for me Flora is a dream come true. I was in New York for tourism and walking through the streets of Brooklyn I came across this beautiful and welcoming place. I decide to have dinner there and I'm pleasantly surprised by the menu. It's a real Italian restaurant! I am treated with kindness, professionalism and friendliness by the two owners, Emiliano and Rossella and they guided me on a truly special tasting journey. I loved their food! Their bruschetta, pasta, octopus, cod, desserts are truly sublime... cooked to perfection and rich in flavor, colors and tasting evolutions (the Michelin star is well deserved!). The products are of the highest quality, imported directly from small towns in Southern Italy. The atmosphere, the decor and even the choice of wines and beers are perfect. What can I say... as an Italian tourist in New York, dining at Flora was a bit like finding yourself at a sort of an Italian food consulate: welcomed into a beautiful and delicious piece of Italy that brings Italian culinary tradition to the fore in such a place far from home for us Italians.

Nice background music you could talk over. Very generous and beautifully presented cheese and cured meat appetizer for 2. Decent reasonably priced wine list. Ravioli with lemon zest was delicious, and my husband loved the linguinie with clams. No tipping required but we left something for the nice service. Would definitely go again.

The food at Flora is what I ate growing in Italy. The flavors are clear and bright, and the atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. While the menu is not huge, everything on it is thought and prepared with great care. This is hands down one of my favorite places to go when I'm missing Italy.

Flora is an incredible experience. Emiliano and Rossella are incredibly kind and genuine humans who put so much love and care into every aspect of this restaurant. It is really impossible for me to pick a favorite dish, as everything I have had has been exemplary. Make sure you get the gnocchi, the bufala salad, pork chops, and the Amalfi lemon dessert! If you go for brunch, do not pass on the frittata. Their cocktails and wines pair perfectly with meals as well, and the staff is extremely friendly and happy to help you select the perfect pairing. Upon every departure from a meal at Flora, I feel perfectly satiated and am already looking forward to my next meal there.

S

My experience at Flora has been a very positive one. When you walk through the modern doors into the spacious interior, and see the friendly employee at the front, you set the bar high for the quality of the food. The food meets your expectations and even exceeds them: the variety of menu options from flatbread to gelato, proves to satiate your appetite. The mood of the room is casual but organized. It would be a good place to get work done while sipping an espresso, or to go with your friends to get an amazing Italian soda.

J

M

Flora very quickly became our go-to for a great meal out. The food is consistently spectacular. The preparation is the perfect combination of simple, homestyle food (in the true Italian style,) elevated and prepared better than you will make it yourself. The owners care about their customers and that they enjoy themselves, and you feel this from the moment you step in. The atmosphere is refined, comfortable, and never rushed. They bring in only the best ingredients and imported Italian specialties (get the Ricotta Pera,) and their espresso drinks are among the best you will find in NYC. They have a no tipping policy which makes it simpler when it's time to pay the bill. We've found that when we go elsewhere, we often find ourselves spending more and not having quite as enjoyable experience. Go there as soon as possible, you will not regret it!

Tried for the first time this month after having this on our list forever! During the week when it is less busy they serve smaller plates and open up their whole menu so you can taste it all. The two of us shared 4-5 different small dishes and everything was truly SO tasty. Pasta is obviously amazing and you can’t go wrong with anything from the drink menu. I have something similar to an Aperol spritz and it delivered! Loved our server- they had great recs and were super kind. Will def come back when it isn’t rainy so we can sit in the cute outdoor seating!

B

A special little place serving rich, flavorful dishes. I was dining for one, and it’s often hard to find seating at restaurants in the city when you’re dining solo - I was pleased to find Flora staff accommodating and friendly. I ordered the Gnocchi al tartufo and a glass of Prosecco. The gnocchi was delicious, bursting with layers of reggiano and truffle oil. Delicious and satisfying.

Flora is the best Italian restaurant in NY. There are no dubious contaminations or weird stuff, just Italian food prepared with great ingredients and mastery. The place and the atmosphere are very welcoming. There's nice music, and the place is not overfilled with tables, as is typical in NY. You don’t feel seated at the same table with some strangers. They are very friendly. The prices are very reasonable for the high quality of the food. Flora, thank you for the experience! Now, I probably need to lower all my other reviews. Highly suggested. Don't miss it!

My girlfriend and I have been to a bunch of different restaurants in Park Slope, and we both agreed that the meal we had here was the finest we've eaten so far in this neighborhood, which is saying something because there's tons of incredible places here. A one-of-a-kind restaurant! Flora offers traditional Southern Italian cuisine with a smart, innovative twist. Every decision -- from the menu to the wine to the family pictures along the walls-- reflects an intentionality and care rarely presented in NYC restaurants. We had the Burrata Cilentana for the Insalata, the Paccheri alla Luciana for the Primi, Cappello del Prete All'Aglianico for the Secondi, and finished the night of with a marvelous slice of the Panarea al Pistachio cake. Our waiter was especially charming, knowlegable, and accomodating. The prices (tip included to ensure a fair wage for all staff!) were very reasonable considering the quality of our meal and the exemplary service.

Ate here with my sister during the day on a Saturday. I got the uova in Purgatorio (Eggs In Purgatory). UNREAL. The waiter was really friendly and gave me that suggestion. He was also very knowledgable about the menu and helped my sister choose the tagliatelle. Food was fresh and full of flavor. One of the best italian restaurants I've been to. Overall, one of my favorite brunch spots and will be coming back here again and again.

Loved this cozy place in Brooklyn near my friend's home. The pasta was fabulous! Our two dishes had just the right amount of truffle (stuffed gnocchi) and lemon (ravioli). Hard to do! Truffle can be so overpowering. The cocktails were lovely, too -- made me feel like I was actually in Italy.

A true-to-italy restaurant. Authentic dishes made to perfection, and a cafe that's quality and flare would rival the Almafi Coast. They can also accommodate dietary restrictions.

C

There are lots of good pasta options in Park Slope. Flora is unique in the way that it serves dishes made the Italian way (or so I think). There is a sense of simplicity, authenticity and freshness in their recipes that you won’t find anywhere else. Take the Paccheri with cherry tomatoes, basil, olive oil and burrata. Every ingredient is fresh, flavorful, and the result is outstanding, for something that could easily have been boring with lower quality ingredients. Outside of pasta and paninis, they have a large variety of Italian sodas: you should try the Chinotto (a sort of Italian coke) or the Cedrata (Italian lemon).

Weekday ~6:00; not crowded, good atmosphere and quiet. Tasting menu is good for light eaters and enjoyed immensely. Salads unique and refreshing, but be wary as pasta positions are small when off tasting menu. High quality and unique pasta dishes. Tasting menu for those who are hungry will require two orders. One order and a split salad perfect for light eaters.

We stumbled upon Flora while walking through Brooklyn and a friend that lives in the City warmly suggested to go as a Must. …OK, wow! This is not your average Italian-American restaurant , it’s the real thing, with flavours that speak of sun, sea, and old countryside kitchens. We shared the octopus and a handmade ravioli with ricotta and lemon zest that still makes us smile. Service was impeccable, and the wine list had some beautiful surprises. Grazie mille for a magical night!

I recently had a lovely brunch with a friend at Flora. The atmosphere is peaceful and calming, with a minimalist but comfortable vibe. The staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. And the food was delish! I had the ravioli and my friend had the burger. Both dishes were so good. And we had Nogronis. I had never tried one and I loved it. I highly recommend Flora.

MICHELIN ITALIAN RESTAURANT🍝 Excellent restaurant experience. This three block stretch of 8th Avenue is a unique stretch of quality Italian restaurants and Flora is a top Michelin choice in this group. The seating both indoor and outdoor is great. The food and pasta dishes are delicious. We enjoyed our dinner and if you come here do not pass up on the grilled octopus. Very pleasant experience and tip is included in your meal. Highly Recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Through some friends of ours we went to this restaurant last night , and I must say that I have never eaten so good in the 20 years that I have been in New York. The professional chef shes amazing. I saw cooking, she had such attention to the dishes that I was amazed . If you want to eat good food this is the only real place in New York where the food is truly Italian. The only thing I don't like is that I can only give 5 stars while they deserve at least 10.

I've felt like I was in a little cafe in Italy in Brooklyn. I was surprised by how delicious and simple the pasta was delicious. The pork golden brown delicious fry was cooked perfectly. I’m sitting here while typing this review because I don’t want to forget about this find. It’s intimate and inviting the food is warm and hearty. I’m dinning alone but it’s a space for seems like anyone I’ve seen families, friends, and dates all while dinning comfortably alone. If you’re nearby or even if you’re not come visit this delicious place. I had the gnocchi with black truffle and other things but most importantly black truffles 🤤 (I had and an appetizer meat and cheese board adjust for one and I’m looking at dessert but that gnocchi!!) UPDATE : I bit the dessert and the pear ricotta pie? 10 outta 10 it’s somehow soft, fluffy, and decadent. Even if you’re thinking “pear and ricotta?! That’s not my thing TRY IT. Trust me 🥰

The most authentic taste of Italy you can find in NYC. Everything on the menu is excellent and the owners are from Italy and really put there love and passion into their culinary art to bring you the best tastes of Italy they can offer. Always on my list of places to visit and menu changes seasonally. Best cup of cappuccino and espresso you can find!!!

This place is ... odd. Food is good. Almost VERY good. Certainly not great. See my conflict? Service was the same. Very nice. Seriously, one pleasant interaction after another. But they SO don't have their acts together. And the prices are fair ... once you realize they're a 'tip included' place. Overall? I like it here. I recommend it if you're close and able to just chill on the whole thing. Have no expectations. Enjoy, period.

When you ask people in the area for Italian restaurant recommendations the first on the list is usually Pasta Louise. Or when you go on yelp, Pasta Louise jumps out. I'd like to make sure that changes today and vote Flora be first. Flora and Pasta Louise are separated by one block but might as well be miles apart when it comes to credible Italian food. For those that praise at the alter of Pasta Louise, here's a tip, run don't walk to Flora. It might not be the best Italian restaurant but it's truly authentic and genuine in its representation of Italian food. We enjoyed the mozzarella de bufala with tomatoes which also included beets. I thought it was odd but it worked. We shared the salt cod and the eggplant parm. All simply prepared and packed with flavor. The wine list is a bit expensive, actually I would say almost unaffordable when it comes to the bottle list. It drives me crazy when I go to a neighborhood joint and cannot find a bottle of wine in the $50 range. There's no excuse for not having at least one bottle at that price point. The service was solid. The ambiance is simple and clean. No loud colors or cartoon caricatures. I would encourage Pasta Louise to talk to Flora's interior designers but then again when you run the Italian version of TGI Fridays maybe the point is to hide the food behind clever branding and over the top designs. And cartoon figures. Hmm. I think McDonald's also has a cartoon character like Pasta Louise. Flora recently received a Michelin star. I'm not sure I agree with that designation but I will say it's one of the better Italian restaurants in the park slope area and would put it on par with Terre and Al Di La.

The gnocchi was outstanding. And the panarea pistacchio was pretty good. The bruschetta and tagliatelle were pretty basic. Overall it averages to a 4. Gratuity included pricing was nice

I had the meatballs with broccoli and Italian bread. Lol amazing smokey flavor! It tasted like it came from a wood burning stove. This was very authentic experience and cute to eat outside on a nice day. The waiter even made it clear that real Italian meatballs are not served with spaghetti and for a second I left the Americas and went to Italy. My girlfriend had a smoked mozzarella salad (not sure what it was called) that was sooo good. The cheese was mad fresh!

Recently, they started to operate night time and this was my first time to come to a dinner. I ordered Burrata salad. Overall service was good, but burrata itself was not fresh as I expected. Good place for quick bite some panini or something and coffee.

This was a unique dining experience. The wine list is from a region in Italy where the owners are from with names I’m new to. We tried a bottle of Kata Del Monte Somma which the server said tasted like a Sauvignon Blanc. They had a tasting menu which gave us the opportunity to try four different dishes - Spaghetti A Vongole, Fussili, Baccala and Pulpo - our fav was the spaghetti pasta with clams. The rest were just ok. For dessert, we had the flourless chocolate cake which was ok as well.

Great food, served with heart. I particularly liked the pasta with octopus ragu. The meat stew had great flavor, but the meat was a bit dry. The dessert was good, and while I appreciate that it's imported from Italy, I prefer something made fresh locally. Very fixed atmosphere, though there is no room between tables; the people next to us were literally listening to our conversation. The prices on the menu include tips, which I like, and it explained why they seemed a bit high.

Lovely restaurant, it has an upscale modern feel and the service is excellent. They have a great variety of spritzes that were delicious. The bruschetta was flavorful, the bread was thicker and softer than you would expect for bruschetta. The meats and cheese plate was good. The burrata was interesting, nice smoky flavor and well-cooked eggplant. The gnocchi was pillowy and truffle dominated the flavor. The linguine was perfect al dente and I loved the crispy chili but the broccoli rabe cream had a strong bitter flavor. The octopus was perfectly cooked and the ragu was very flavorful. The menu was unique and intriguing and it felt like an authentic experience.

Although the restaurant was relatively empty, it took forever for us to be seated and even longer for a waiter to see us. Other tables who were seated after us were served first. I ordered octopus, normally something I love, and it was actually inedible: slimy and wet, and barely enough for an entree if I had it in me to keep going. Not to mention is wasn’t cheap. We left hungry and unimpressed.

Had high hopes and did not live up to expectations. Very expensive for basic and not very good Italian food. Way better options for a better price in the area.

Brunch was OK, but not one of our favorites. The best part was the macchiato. The prices include tip, and they add a 3.5% credit card fee by default, but do not automatically remove it if you pay cash. They bring back the change and keep the fee amount instead of updating the bill. We just wanted to get out of the place and didn't mention it.

Entrees were splendid. The bread that we got with the meal was thoroughly unappetizing. Tasted like it was a day old I’d say. Sunday afternoon may not be the best time to go. Desert was excellent. Servers were courteous and helpful.

TL:DR - would go for a round of drinks + an app, go elsewhere for mains. Food was not up to par for the price point, service was fine but not great. We were seated at one of the more awkward seats, near the pass & close to the door so it was a bit cold with a lot of foot traffic. We asked if we could sit at the booths, but were told those were reserved. In the 2 hours we were there, only one of those “reserved” seats were utilized. We ordered two apps: the bruschetta & orange fennel salad. Bruschetta was really good, and different with roasted veg + cured meats. The salad was lacking acid & oil. For mains we had the lemon ravioli & the octopus ragu. The Ragu came out so cold I asked for it to be warmed, they threw it under a warmer - re-served it on a cold plate, and charged us full price. The ravioli was okay but honestly for something with lemon in the name - wasn’t it. Cocktails were amazing & the wine was very good.

This place looks and feels very high end. We loved the vibe and the service. The food was disappointing, sadly. The focaccia was dry and probably old. We left half of it behind. The pork entree was good but it came with no sides and thus did not feel like a complete meal. The ricotta ravioli was good, the dough a bit too “al dente”. Lemon dessert was the best thing of the meal, and it was only okay. Will probably won’t come back and instead fo to any of the other excellent italian places around

$26 for 6 pieces of paccheri pasta. I was so hungry when I left I had to get food when I got home. Orange pound cake so dry it’s inedible. Will not be returning.

This restaurant is fine. It’s similarly priced to others in the area, but the food is average, if not below: bruschetta has delicious tomatoes but the beef was dry and the pasta was tasteless (despite the olives and caper). Dessert (cheesecake) was just above frozen and saccharine sweet (and premade from a different location). All in all, there’s far better food around.

Bit confused as to why this place is highly rated. Don’t go for brunch…. Seems like people are reviewing their dinner plates. The salami sandwich with fig was OVERLY SWEET and had two pieces of salami in it. The pasta & prosciutto sandwich was SO salty - I probably drank 8 cups of water during the meal. We were a table of 6 and the waiter had no idea which plates were ordered when the food came out - so unprofessional! Come on. So disappointed :’(

I tried this place about 3-4 years ago upon moving to the neighborhood - that was for brunch, albeit, I don't remember much. I decided to try it again recently but for dinner this time. I have to say: not the best which is what i hoped for esp for the price tag. The ravioli was undercooked (not al dente!) and the cured meats felt much without anything else accompanying it. The flourless chocolate cake was good. Service was friendly but kind of slow... One thing that actually stood out to me the most was that the waiter's pants were hanging below his waist and his boxers were clearly visible - ick!! Am I in a dive bar or a nice restaurant?

The interior decor has nothing to dampen the cafe sounds within making it nearly impossible to hear the person with whom you are dining. Zero vegan options.

The waiter was very kind and accommodating but the food left much to be desired. Deli's in NY have better food. The chef seems to think that if you cover it in olive oil and butter it will taste better - it wont. The pasta was horrible, the salad tasted like it was covered in acid, the eggplant may as well been anything covered in oil and cheese because it had absolutley no flavour. We should have known better when we saw the restaurant was empty but we still went in. Don't make the same mistake.
