I’ve been on the hunt for authentic potato pancakes in this city for a long time, and I can confidently say these are the best I’ve tried. We ordered both the classic crispy version and the signature with mushrooms and cheese, and both were outstanding. The classic had that perfect golden crunch on the outside, just how it should be, and the mushroom and cheese combination was rich and perfectly balanced. On top of that, the service was warm and attentive. Definitely worth a visit!
Very yummy classic pelmeni and tea here hits the spot. Inside is cozy and clean, and the staff are very nice. I also love the deer liver here!
Thanks to every member of their staff from administrative level to operational including support team. Cake, what a wonderful cake they made. Decoration, what are colorful decoration. They worked with us from the scratch, food and music to a theme presentation. They make unbelievable drinks. Music is live too. Everyone enjoyed that evening.
Absolutely loved Loft Restaurant – Potato House! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, modern, and inviting. The food is outstanding—creative potato dishes done perfectly, with generous portions and incredible flavor. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and you can tell real care goes into the menu. Has mixed drinks, draft beer, and alcohol bar. The service was just as impressive: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. It’s the kind of place you want to come back to, whether for a casual meal or a special night out. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great food, great vibes, and an overall excellent dining experience. We’ll definitely be back! 👏🥔✨
This is a great and fun place to celebrate any event, and also to have a quick and delicious lunch. The banquet menu is very extensive - everything is delicious and fresh, the pancakes with caviar and the duck are beyond all praise. Borscht with solyanka - no comments. 😋😋😋
Great place! I had the solyanka — it was very tasty and authentic. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed the experience and would definitely come back
It a good experience with homemade good quality food. Good vibes with music did my birthday for 28 people. It was amazing
The employees at this establishment are incredible. This is an authentically russian restaurant, and the food is spectacular. The staff are all Russian and incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere is very warm. Be sure to chat with Sergei, as he is very nice. I had such a pleasant experience here, and would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Brighton beach.
The food was delicious, and portions were more than generous. We had unbelievably fantastic service-everyone was so wonderful. Highly recommend for authentic Russian experience food.
We loved the food and the friendly atmosphere at hot potato house. The chicken soup is a favorite here and everything tastes like it was just home made. We always feel treated like family. Here. Will definitely keep coming back!

The atmosphere at this place is incredible! I'm completely addicted to this restaurant! The prices at LOFT by Hot Potato are decent and vegetables are abundant. The people at LOFT by Hot Potato offer warm interactions. Experience this spot's cooking.
Excellent food and service! They have outdoor seating perfect for dates! They even brought blankets out when it started to get chilly. The food was great and the bathroom was clean too. Got the beef short ribs, small pickles platter, gourmet potato pancakes with caviar, and garlic bread
The food was good, their okroshka was the best I’ve ever tried. My niece got crayons and a piece of paper while we were waiting for our food to arrive, it was very nice addition to the service . Now they serve breadsticks as a complimentary snack with beer. Thank you Hot Potato!
Came here for breakfast with my friend—while they don’t have a specific breakfast menu, they do offer great breakfast-friendly options. I had the cheesy potato pancakes with mushrooms, which were absolutely delicious. My friend ordered the potato dumplings with caramelized onions and sour cream, and she really enjoyed them. The service was great, the staff were friendly, and the restaurant has a charming, cozy vibe. Definitely coming back!
I had an amazing time at this restaurant! The East European food was the best I've had in New York. The borscht soup was delicious, and I loved the refreshing peach punch. The prosciutto and melon combination was a delightful surprise with great texture. I'll definitely be coming back for more!
Had a family outing here yesterday. Incredibly professional staff and the kitchen is one of the absolute best in New York and not just for Eastern European fare but more generally. Everything was incredibly fresh. After years of not coming here out of just not knowing of its quality , it’s now my new favorite restaurant in the area.
Everything about this place is phenomenal. Service was great, servers was very attentive. Food was home made, delicious, presentation was on point. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was prices. I felt like these were city prices, yet its like middle on nowhere-right on the border of Brighton beach and Manhattan beach. I recall going to hot potato and I believe prices were about half per item. To give you a quick example perogies with potato and fried onions $19, asked for sour cream to be added got charged extra for sour cream -like common, who eats that without sour cream🤦♂️ so things like that bothered me. However, we still very much enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and I would recommend this place.
On the evening of December 8th, 2024, my family and friends met at “Hot Potato” for our own personal cause. My favorite meaty dish, was taretare (herring I never like) — they cooked that very fish with the taste, thus I didn’t feel any naste. Also, I liked fried potatoes with mushrooms very much, it is my favorite meal, of course; as well as the pierogies were good (served the baked only, fried are only sold in Samarkand Bazaar supermarket). In addition, their rice was classy and not ordinary. During our visit, there was the warm atmosphere with the music, and some little child sang karaoke, and it made me smile and clap for a while. But, the servants must be friendlier, that’s as usual. Our company, naturally, understood, that it’s very hard job. Do be. There is a restroom in the restaurant, and then we had it used. The drinks, that were served to us, were the compote (home-style fruit-bowled drink, like a juice), alcohol, and soda. The staff allowed us to take the remaining food for home. It took us some time to find a parking outside, and there was across the street for my car for free — without a metered machine.
I really wanted to like this place. The food was just ok, if that. I could have had all of the same foods, and prepared better at home, especially considering the prices. The waitress had this attitude like she was too good to be there, far from warm and pleasant. She was a bit pushy about asking if we want garlic bread but didn’t mention that it had an additional cost and it was just sliced bread that had a dollop of garlic. There were also numerous surprises when the check came. There was apparently a cork fee that was never mentioned, there was a service fee, they charge you to swap side dishes, etc. Then when we paid, the waitress didn’t even offer to give us our change. Definitely do not plan on returning.
Food was average, waiters were nice, live music -good. Have to mention in the beginning that i personally hate “service fee” being charged without notice at 15% min period, but what really upsets is + “initial fee” on the top at about 5% charged the same way. On the top next thing you will see is “suggested tip” starting another 15%. In this case I fell like to be a decent customer I have to live at least 35% on the top?????
Asked to make reservation and provided credit card information 2 hours before we called them. We came and saw only a couple of tables were occupied. Why did they even bother us with all the reservation issue and giving credit card information if they knew they were not even busy. The girls who served us were nice but not helpful. What ever they advised us to order was not great. The food was not tasty. Two hours later all my family had diarrhea. We paid by cash to avoid additional credit card charges so now we can not even dispute money back for not good quality food. It was my first time visiting this place. I do not recommend it, waisted my time, money and got diarrhea.
I used to order from this place all the time. The food used to be great — fresh, consistent, and worth every dollar. I was a loyal customer who even tipped well every single time, and their own staff always delivered. Then things changed. The food started tasting like it was reheated or left over from the day before. It’s clear they stopped caring about quality or their regular customers. That’s how small businesses ruin themselves — by getting lazy and greedy. Now they’ve added a $40 minimum order. Smart move, right? They’d rather lose loyal customers completely than risk paying a tiny fee on a $35 order. Instead of losing $2 in fees, they’ve lost $35 in business. That’s not clever — that’s just bad math. So here’s the summary: they stopped cooking fresh, started reheating food (presumably leftovers from the day before), got greedy, and pushed away loyal customers. I won’t be ordering again. Best of luck, they'll need it.
