I’ve been there first time for brunch menu on Saturday. The restaurant has a very cool energy, the decoration is light and clean and the staff is super nice. I had the duck pastrami with poached eggs, and the only thing I can say is that it absolutely deserves to be in the michelin guide. The combination is perfect. Also the price is quite affordable. I strongly recommend Meadowsweet and I’m sure that I’ll be back there in my next trip to NYC
This was a splurge meal and incredibly personalized experience. We wanted to explore the best of Williamsburg and this is definitely up there. We basically ordered based on recommendations and everything came out delicious. Starters: Octopus - very tender and smoky with a basil vinaigrette reduction I really enjoyed Scallops - half seared and more on the rare side, but had a good corn infused flavor and mix of mushrooms Dry white wine pairing recommended by the waiter Main course: Roasted chicken with gnocchi - really loved the sauce and super tender chicken. I wish they had more pieces of gnocchi because it was so delicious Wagyu flank steak - black salt was a little overpowering for my wife, but I thought it had a good char taste without burning it. The meat itself was cooked to perfection Red Bordeaux pairing recommended by the waiter Dessert: Blueberry crumble with pistachio ice cream - so yummy. I wish there was more of the ice cream to get even bites but it was still incredible Cherry on top - excellent end of night cocktail with a hint of cherry, lemon, and cream liquor. I thought there was a tad too much ice, but I still loved it. Overall it's definitely in my top recommendations list for Williamsburg and I can't wait to come again
The food was absolutely delicious! Recommend the burger and the salmon. Their gnocchi ragu and olive bread starters were also incredible!
Incredible tasting menus and cocktails! Their cilantro gin cocktail is so refreshing. I'm a vegetarian and my boyfriend is not, and they accommodated us both with several dishes in common so we could compare, but with enough variety that we both left (very) full and satisfied!! #greatservice #vegetarianfriendly
We attended Meadowsweet yesterday evening for my Fiancé's 29th birthday The staff and environment were both warm and welcoming. Our waitress was knowledgeable, and quick to offer recommendations for their most popular starters. For our starters we went with the Crispy baby artichoke, and the Spanish octopus & Chorizo. While the artichoke was light and refreshing, the plump and generous octopus stole the show. We were hesitant to try the Olive oil rolls, only because its easy to fill up on bread, but we caved and got them anyway. They arrived warm, freshly baked, and with a side of honey butter. Well worth the indulgence. We wanted to do something special, and we asked for a recommendation for a nice red wine to go with the Wagyu Bavette entrée. Our waitress brought us 2 distinct options, and ultimately settled on a lovely 2016 Spanish red blend that paired perfectly with the tightly marbled and, rare cuts of beef. The combination of American wagyu matched with the dry red wine evoked that pleasant, fuzzy puckering sensation on the tongue, that might be familiar to those who have had a dry aged steak. For dessert, we settled on something a little lighter, the seasonal sorbet with particularly delicious coconut macaroons. The staff surprised us with a complimentary glass of Champaign for the occasion, and we finished off the night happy and looking forward to return to try their brunch.
Service was absolutely excellent, or server was kind and clearly very skilled. It's such a cute space inside as well, very stylish and well decorated, beautiful green plants above. The food was delicious - we did restaurant week and getting 3 courses that good is truly a steal at the price offered. The sorbet in particular; I worked in ice cream and sorbet for years and I could tell instantly that the sorbet was made in house. Absolutely delicious - anyone who eats here should 100% indulge in some house-made sorbet. It will blow your mind the way store bought never could!
This is a great Michelin Star restaurant. I have been there before getting this well deserved distinction and they managed to keep the friendly hipster character of the place while operationalize got the experience. The food is very high quality the cocktails are innovative and the staff is very friendly with great discrete service . Location is awesome. I am sure you will enjoy this experience at a very reasonable price that is good value for your money
Meadowsweet was a fantastic experience from start to finish. They take their Covid precautions seriously, which is reassuring. Started with the olive rolls which were perfectly fluffy, followed by the squid ink Cavatelli with scallops. Had the Bavette and the Scottish salmon cooked to medium-rare perfection. Finished with the maple créme caramel with a blueberry compote that rounded out the meal. Service was warm and friendly. Pleasant ambiance with a lot of greenery indoors to maintain social distancing. Can’t wait to return!
Absolutely delicious! My wife and I had the spiced duck and the wagyu and it was so tender and juicy. The service was one of the greatest I I'm had in a while, I think her name was Kayla. Thank you!!
Had a wonderful brunch at Meadowsweet this weekend. The food was fantastic, the service was great (we had a server on brunch for the 1st time and the manager was supportive in backing him up seamlessly) and the atmosphere was beautiful. I could eat there all the time and would highly recommend it.
A nice place for a quality catch up with friends. Friendly service, not too noisy. Presentation is good though there is g much surprises nor originality on the food. Tasting menu is available though there is no menu for that. It seems to be (based on today) a selection off today’s menu so ample portion for a discounted pricing. Wagyu beef was served bit on the cold end; salmon tartar has a too crunch toast... but overall still tasty.
What a delicious dinner! I took my husband here for his birthday. I made reservations through opentable a few weeks in advance. But since we went for dinner at 6pm on a Tuesday night, it was not that busy. I think you could have walked in and be seated (but better to be safe than sorry). For the starters, we ordered their Crispy baby artichokes, and the fried green tomato. Both were phenomenal dishes! The artichoke was delicious and perfectly fried. The fried green tomato was SO good! The tomato was so tart and the cheese and the sauce all worked well together. For the entree, i had their roasted butternut squash. It was the best veggie entree i ever had. It tasted healthy and was flavorful. Each bite had a taste of truffle with veggies and the butternut squash was well roasted. My husband had their cheeseburger. Although i didnt take a bite out of his burger, the fries that came with the side was well fried! My husband enjoyed his burger. For the desserts, we had their blueberry crumble and the flourless chocolate cake. The blueberry crumble came with a scoop of almond icecream and the flourless chocolate cake came with a scoop of caramel icecream. Both desserts were phenomenal. Overall, we had such a great time at meadowsweet and we cant wait to return!
I came to Meadowsweet to celebrate my birthday and I’m so glad I did! The experience was absolutely perfect! Lovely decor, kind staff, and delicious food. You can truly see why they’re given a Michelin Star each year. My entire party enjoyed their mains and every starter we ordered. I cannot wait to be back!
Absolutely amazing!! We went in Mid August, 2021. Luckily, the restaurant has ample accommodations for COVID; we were able to eat outside. We booked a reservation ahead of time, but if you are eating early in the evening, it certainly is not necessary. The buns were SOOO good, especially warm with the flakey salt. We got the burrata as an appetizer because it was in season, and the green goddess dressing was heavenly! The salmon and duck (our mains) were cooked to perfection. We had two lovely desserts as well to finish off our meal!! The staff was exceptionally kind, and we were even able to meet the chef (and ask him questions!). If you are looking for a reasonable, delicious, Michelin starred place in NYC, Meadowsweet is the place to go! I would absolutely recommend making the trip and stopping by.
Absolutely amazing! Quite possibly the best meal of 2022. For starters, I recommend the fried green tomatoes. Simply the perfect amount of tartness with a crunchy shell swimming in a tangy ranch dressing. The baby artichoke heart salad was delicious, perfect pairing of roasted goodness, peppery arugula to lemony freshness. My main I had the meadowsweet cheeseburger while my wife ordered the roasted butternut squash. Highly highly recommend the butternut squash, never have I wanted to eat butternut squash so much more then a burger. Both were delicious and everything on the menu probably is. Finally for desserts, we had the flourless chocolate cake and the blueberry crumble. Again it was another home run. I’m certain everything here is nothing short of perfect.
We live in the area and this place has a Michelin star so we figured we would check it out. Walked in on a holiday weekend at 5:30p with no reservation and was promptly seated indoors. Overall, really high quality, delicious food. Similar to an earlier review, we created our own tasting menu since they currently don't offer that option given covid. The fried artichoke salad and the cauliflower entree were the stars of the show. Everything else was also well executed, and delicious. Nothing particularly innovative but would be a good place to bring a large group as there's something for everyone. Service was great and the waiter did mention that they would be bringing more avant garde menu items back now that NYC is opening up more. Speaking of covid safety protocols, the restaurant took these very seriously. Masks are still required, there's plexiglass separating the tables and all the service staff wear masks. Felt very safe dining here. Overall, great food, great service.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE FOOD HERE. I highly recommend checking out this Michelin star restaurant because this has been the best food and dining experience I’ve had in NYC. I’ve been here twice now and it’s exceeded my expectations both times and I will be coming back. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! I’ve never had such perfectly cooked and spiced duck and octopus and if you love steak, the wagyu will not disappoint. And do not skip the dessert. The crème carmel was my personal favorite but you can’t go wrong with the chocolate cake. Also, not only are the servers kind and considerate to all of our needs, they always ensure we’re having an amazing dining experience. If you’re ever in NY, this restaurant is worth going to (especially if you’re a foodie).
Overall excellent experience. Only a couple of slight misses. Salmon entree was a touch dry, and cauliflower bed that came with it was eh. Aside from that, everything was delicious. Empanadas, tuna tartare, salmon latke apps were fantastic. Duck entree was juicy. Desserts were good. Cocktails were vibrant and well thought out. The standout for me though was the wagyu steak. Medium-rare. Cooked to perfection. The potato pave that accompanies it was 🤌 . Honestly I would go back and order that every time.
I absolutely love Meadowsweet! The wine list is amazing, the staff is so so kind (especially their manager, Lauren!), and the food is insane at any hour of the day. Highly recommend :)
What an amazing experience. We had such a wonderful dinner and evening at meadowsweet. We sat outside in one of the covered tables and enjoyed a cool evening after the heat wave. The service was wonderful, polite, and attentive. I had the octopus and chorizo appetizer and the roasted duck breast and polenta. Simply fantastic. My wife had the olive oil rolls (they were ok) and the salmon - excellent. We also had dessert. My wife had a flowerless chocolate cake, which she enjoyed. And i had something that can’t remember the name but it was similar to flan and sooo light and creamy. Yum! Thank you for a wonderful evening and memory.
What really stood out from this restaurant was the friendly and unassuming service. We didn’t get a dedicated waiter. So we interacted with the crew. Felt like in Europe. Loved it! We first sat outside, but because of the mosquitoes we were seated inside. We ordered the octopus, burger, wagyu (blurry photo; sorry), chocolate dessert (also blurry; sorry again), and rhubarb dessert. All were nice. We wish the wagyu was a bit marbled. But it was American, not Japanese. So we got it. Music was not too loud and decor was good. Would highly recommend.
This place was incredible, from the food to the incredible staff. Everything including our appetizers (highly recommend crispy baby artichokes!) were perfectly cooked and delicious. Duck breast, chicken and wagyu were absolutely amazing. Not to mention the incredible cocktails👍🏻 would highly recommend this restaurant and will be revisiting very soon!
Meadowsweet's brunch is a must-try! The warm ambiance and friendly service make you feel right at home. The fontina egg and white truffle toast was fantastic, the bread was perfectly toasted and crispy and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The omelette with mushrooms, asparagus, and goat cheese was really good, light and fluffy. They have a great selection of drinks, including cocktails, wine, and beer. I would definitely go back!
Always a pleasant experience here. They change their menu often enough to try new delicious plates each time I’m here. Kind staff, good drinks, fast service. Definitely one of my neighborhood favorites and recommended!
Had a wonderful dinner with friends here two nights ago. We ordered quite a few starters and they were all great. The cavatelli reigned supreme and the manchego croquettes pulled up the rear (great, but just fried cheese balls). Must order the olive oil rolls! Mains were delicious, burger, salmon, tagliatelle and chicken. The cocktails stole the show for me. Inventive and delicious. I highly recommend the Rebel Girl. Noise level was quite high so would just keep that in mind.
Delicious. Great service. Great atmosphere. Very classy spot, Michelin rated. I don't really understand the phrase "Ladies who Lunch" but this feels like that kind of spot. It's good. Real good. I want to come back and eat dinner here soon. I feel like it must be awesome too. Great first experience here tho
The best meal we had in Brooklyn. Great service, strong & tasty drinks, original delicious dishes. The melon & prosciutto salad alone is worth going here - so unexpectedly delicious. Burger was perfect: tender, juicy, flavorful. Chicken sammy was the same: just delicious. No complaints, no room for improvement. Just go & enjoy life.
This place is amazing!!! Food was out of this world!! Everything was delicious. We got fried artichoke and scallops. As apps! An explosion of flavor. We got the duck, chicken and bass for dinner. My goodness the food was to die for!! I can’t express it enough!! You have to go here!
Genuinely delicious food - every bite! Angel behind the bar was lovely to us - wonderful martini! I stumbled upon this place looking for a last-minute nice dinner and I'm so glad we wandered in.
We went there after speding whole afternoon in Willamburg. It was a right choice to end our lovely date. We order Burrata Salads then Salmon and Wagu Beed as entrees. The service was really friendly. Thanks to her we choose the perfect red wine goes alongs with the beef. In my opinion, the chocolate cake was a bit heavy for summer. In conclusion, we will be back and please please hang in there through the Pandemic.
Meadowsweet is well-known as a 1-star Michelin restaurant with reasonable & affordable price. It’s not like any other fine dining Michelin restaurants, but a lovely place in the neighborhood for weekend brunch. The decor is bright and modern with cozy ambiance and lots of greens. There isn’t a great variety of options on their menu and we got Doughunts, Crispy Artichokes Portobello Mushroom, Truffle & Fontina Toast and Duck Pastrami to share with a group of three. The food was overall decent and flavorful, especially the toast and pastrami. The toast was satisfying with rich truffle smell and creamy cheese. The confit duck in pastrami was soft, moist and perfectly went with the sauce. Friends who recommended us Meadowsweet told us their dinner, especially the duck breast is the best, but we visited for brunch so we might plan to visit again.
My partner and I had went to Meadowsweet for our anniversary. The fried green tomato and duck were the stars of the show. The chicken was also a delicious dish. While I personally would not order the shrimp salad again, it was still very good and nothing negative that I would call out. We were sat relatively close to a belligerent man which making dinner difficult to enjoy. However, the service was truly amazing and the manager went out of their way to make sure that we still had a special night and moved us to the bar for dessert.
A delightful experience. The space was crowded, but we arrived on time for our reservation and we were seated right away. I was pleased to see the prices were reasonable considering the restaurant has a Michelin star. Everything on the menu looked very appetizing. But we decided for the little gem salad, the burrata, the zucchini cake and the wagyu bavette. While we waited we enjoyed our cocktails, which were really good, although the presentation of one of them wasn't great. I would say the blue plastic straw cheapened the look. Anyway, our apps arrived timely and I have to say the burrata was exquisite. It felt light and the flavours were balanced. The gem salad was also great. The zucchini bread definitely had a strong Mediterranean mix of spices and the texture felt great to me, some crispiness opposite to the juiciness of the rest of the ingredients. What I was not so impressed about, unexpectedly, was the wagyu beef entree. We ordered it medium well and I was expecting some tenderness, however, it was rather tough and even chewy. So when our waiter (also wonderful), asked how everything was, I mentioned I wasn't too happy it, almost reluctantly. He immediately offered us to ask the kitchen to prepare a new one so I agreed. He bought us another one back in almost no time and it was better. Still not the star of the night. I must say, the atmosphere was nice but a little loud due to the openness and the crowd. Great for large parties. Overall, very good experience, excellent service, and great value. Here's to another star!
We had a lovely brunch!!! The mimosas were so perfect, I could see through them 😉, just kissed with OJ!! The food is delicious and beautiful. I recommend that you get a reservation now.
We went to Meadowsweet for an event to try some of their tasty dishes. The inside was very open and bright, with a fully stocked bar. We tried Zero Proof drinks, Phony Negroni, and Al’s Classic N/A Golden. They were both pretty good, but especially the Phony Negroni was really good! The first dish we tried was Crispy Baby Artichokes, which was delightful. I haven’t really been a big fan of artichokes, but I will happily have this dish again and again! Then, Tagliatelle with chanterelle, truffle, and parmesan. Pasta was cooked just right, with an amazing truffle aroma and flavor. Next was Spanish Octopus that was cooked perfectly, with a note of smoky flavor. It had a nice kick from harissa without being too spicy. The last savory dish was Spiced Duck Breast. Tender and juicy, not too chewy, but the perfect texture. Crust of the duck was maybe my favorite bit. Delicious! Dessert was Flourless Chocolate Cake. It had the perfect gooey center, which was the best! So chocolatey without being overwhelming. We had such amazing time here. Everything we had was freakin’ amazing! We will definitely go back for more delicious food in a near future.
Beautiful option in Williamsburg. Modern American restaurant, great brunch options on the weekend. The service was fast, kind and overall great. Food was really tasty, all of it. We also got the French toast. Mimosas were really nice too. I would definitely go back again. I highly recommend it.
Beautiful restaurant, excellent service (friendly, genuine, attentive) from the entire staff, even on a busy Saturday (we got a table without a reservation). And the food was outstanding. We had the olive rolls & fried green tomatoes as starters, roasted cauliflower and chicken roulade as mains and some lovely cocktails. We were too full for dessert, but the dessert menu looked great. Bring your wallet. Not overpriced, but totally worth a splurge. We will be back.
We visited Meadowsweet on a snowy Sunday for brunch and were immediately impressed by the warm and polished experience from the moment we walked in. The restaurant was fairly quiet because of the weather and our group of four was seated right away. Water was brought to the table immediately and the front of house staff seemed completely in sync. The service felt smooth and professional without ever being stiff. None of us ordered cocktails and instead stuck with coffee which everyone at the table kept praising. It was rich, balanced, and exactly what you want on a cold morning. To start we ordered the donuts and the empanadas. The donuts were fun and reminded me of sugar coated munchkins. They were good but not particularly memorable. The empanadas on the other hand were excellent in terms of flavor. The filling was well seasoned and satisfying. The only critique is their size. At nineteen dollars for three empanadas we all felt they could be a bit larger to really showcase the filling. For my main dish I ordered the duck pastrami hash with sunny side eggs and it was phenomenal. The dish had great depth of flavor and the eggs were cooked perfectly. In hindsight I should have ordered the sourdough bread with the hash instead of as a starter. The bread would have been perfect for soaking up everything on the plate. My girlfriend originally ordered the bacon omelette but was accidentally served the mushroom spinach omelette. Luckily the mistake worked in our favor because it ended up being one of the best dishes on the table. The eggs were incredibly fluffy and cooked perfectly. The mushrooms absorbed a ton of flavor and created a savory richness that balanced beautifully with the spinach. Nothing felt overpowering and every bite was well composed. I tried a bite myself and was equally impressed. Another friend ordered the burger and really enjoyed it. It was simple, satisfying, and executed exactly how a good brunch burger should be. Overall the experience was excellent. The atmosphere was comfortable, the service was attentive, and the food showed strong technique and balance across the board. If brunch is this good I can only imagine how strong their dinner service must be. Considering the price point, the quality of the food, and the level of hospitality, Meadowsweet easily earns five out of five stars. I would happily come back for brunch again.
My wife (has celiac / gluten allergy) and I came here for my birthday, and it was an excellent experience. The servers here are kind, and knowledgeable/attentive about gluten cross contamination. And the food was fresh and very well cooked. The chicken roulade was juicy and the burger slapped. Definitely looking to come back again!
Came during restaurant week for brunch. It was $45 pp and well worth it. Firstly, every single dish was perfection. Had the muffin to start and it was warm and fluffy on the inside yet crisp on the outside. Same for the empanadas - crispy but the filling was soft and delicious. Probably one of the best omelettes, it was evenly cooked and the fillings (spinach and mushroom) were also seasoned and cooked to perfection. Not a bad bite throughout. Finished with sorbets and it was the most flavourful sorbets, especially the lemon and raspberry. I was surprised how jam packed the flavour was. Only downside was we order coffees and those took a really long time to come to the table. This place used to have Michelin stars but now it feels more like a neighborhood spot. Little pricey for a casual meal but great for a first date, or to make someone’s day.
What a lovely first experience at Meadowsweet--the server was so friendly (and made sure to ask about allergies), and the atmosphere made for a truly enjoyable dining experience. I had the crispy artichokes and the cavatelli with mussels + shrimp, both of which were spectacular and full of flavor--the seafood + pasta tasted quite fresh and perfectly cooked. The team also gave me some wonderfully fluffy olive oil rolls, which made for a perfect addition to the meal. I look forward to returning!
Meadowsweet is our new favorite restaurant when we need a treat. My wife, daughter and I came here on a TG weekend for dinner, and were just blown away with how good ALL the food was. We came back after new year with my parents when they wanted to go out with us for dinner, and again we were all raving how good all the dishes were. We’ve tried the octopus and tajarin from the starters. And we had the salmon, duck, chicken roulade, and a couple different vegetarian dishes (which change often so I don’t remember the names). Every time we cleaned all our plates, because the creams, sauces, and spices were so good that none of us wanted to leave anything on the plate. Service is very pleasant and always available and helpful. Never needed to stop our conversation to hunt down service when we needed them - they were just there. And the ambiance is elegant but relaxed, which we always opt for rather than comparable restaurants in Manhattan. I remember coming to this location when it was Dressler. They had fantastic food then (apparently it was chef Dobkin back then), and they continue that today, after we rediscovered them as Meadowsweet. I now looked up their About page on their site, and see so many awards. It explains why we all like the food so much.
This is the best place I've been. They did an excellent job at every single step. First of all, the service was top notch, everyone seemed to come out of a happy movie, always kind, sweet and more. Then it came the food, OMG, I ate my place with my eyes closed just savoring every bite, and my husband's burger was not far behind, the flavor of the meat was amazing. Finally, I truly enjoyed that the environment allowed conversations without loud music blasting my ears. Overall, a great place to have a wine and relax.
I came here for my birthday brunch with friends and had the best experience ! Staff was very kind and service was excellent. All the dishes were very tasty and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and very good quality (they use seasonal produce from their farm). I took the biscuit & poached eggs and French toast: each dish was flavorful and well balanced. They also had freshly squeezed orange juice so 10 / 10 for me. Thank you for the hospitality; will be back for dinner soon :)
Had a great time with my girlfriends. Everything from the cappuccino, to the green fried tomatoes, the huevos rancheros, the chorizo omelette and mimosa tray were amazing. Great ambience and service. Definitely coming back with the love of my life. The doughnuts were not my fave though.
Get $25 off your bill through the link on my profile! The restaurant is located in a lovely neighborhood in Williamsburg, perfect for walking around in the summer. Aware that they used to have a Michelin star, I went in with somewhat heightened hopes but also not too expectant — then was surprised with an incredible meal start to finish. The whisky cocktail was really well balanced, clean and on point, crafted better than most bars. The octopus chorizo and spiced duck breast were even more delicious; from the first mouthwatering wafts when the dishes are placed on the table to the wonderful blend of flavors, everything delivered perfectly. When you ask for the bill, it comes with a small coconut dessert that’s warm and chewy. I savored every bite of it and still think about it now. Beginning to end everything delivered! Even the leftovers I brought home and shared apparently tasted very good. Would strongly recommend this place to anyone who is considering going.
Absolutely fantastic dining experience! I made a large party reservation to celebrate a birthday in our group. They were so accommodating and easy to schedule with. We had 12 people and went with the set chef’s menu - every dish was phenomenal, and very reasonably priced. They gladly accommodated a vegetarian (me) and another person with a handful of food sensitivities. Every dish was outstanding, perfect pacing, great atmosphere. We also loved the cocktails and wine selection!
We came for a wonderfully leisurely weekday lunch around noon. Only two other tables were occupied (it’s apparently more of a dinner hot spot), but don’t let that deter you from visiting in the daytime. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing. They even brought out fresh, piping hot Parker house rolls with butter to begin. We started with the octopus and chorizo - lightly spicy and perfectly paired with pearl couscous and fresh herbs for bite. The American wagyu steak frites arrived beautifully medium-rare, served with a vibrant green scallion, ramp and spinach puree and chili crisp sauce - yet it was subtly sweet, and a surprising accompaniment that matched well! They even humored my very Texan request for ranch with the fries (of course, they make their own in-house). The vegetarian mushroom tagliatelle was pure comfort and if I could climb into a bowl of pasta for lunch, this would be the one. My only tiny suggestion? Toss the sauce with the pasta before serving so all that liquid gold doesn’t pool at the bottom. We finished with two scoops of homemade ice cream—butterscotch and sweet cream vanilla—and immediately wished we had room for more. Please, sir, can I have some more? A true gem not to miss just around the corner from the bridge. My don’t-leave-without-it pick? The butter rolls. Because who doesn’t love a well-kneaded carb. Side note: this restaurant reminded me a place we visited in Scotland a long time ago, so not sure if the chef ever cooked there, but if so, please let me know.
I had to bring myself in here and see what those stars were all about!!! I HAD TO SEE FOR MYSELF!!! I was not let down. Jesus. the food was so good. Fortunately I (unknowingly) stumbled in during the tail end of restaurant week. They offered a $45 3-course pre fixe that was 100% worth every single penny. I started with a deliciously refreshing Empress cocktail that carried me through the entire meal. We started with the chorizo, potato & fontina empanadas and the fried green tomatoes. That's when I knew.. 700 out of 10. How they managed to pack so much flavor into the food should be studied in a lab. It was so good. If that had been the end of the meal I would not have been upset. But I did need to continue. For entrees we had the duck pastrami hash & poached eggs and avocado toast & heirloom tomato. This is when I started to get really impressed. The portions were very large, it was not this dainty overpriced haute cuisine experience. I was full by the time I finished the main dish. The duck was flavorful, not the best duck I've had in my life (I reserve that for Sun Wah in Chicago), but very good. The hash was well seasoned, and the salad was not a supporting character. The salad stood on its own two feet. I'd happily order the salad as a standalone plate 100%. To finish we had some sorbet, I believe one was passionfruit, and the other I cannot remember what it was. They were both 10 out of 10. The space is very cute, very unpretentious and casual. Our waitress Gabriela was very sweet and accomodating of our allergies/dietary restrictions. I'll be back!
2nd time visiting and we ordered the same mains as the first time. Both special birthday dinners. Artichokes were good, burrata salad was very good. The duck and wagyu beef were beautifully cooked and delicious. I found the sweet potato mash with the duck a bit overwhelmingly sweet and it threw off the balance of the dish a bit. Good service.
It’s been a few years since they earned their Michelin star but it’s still deserving We had a 6:30 reservation. Immediately seated. Offered cost check. Asked if we could get out by 7:45. For the first time ever, we made it out on time and never felt rushed. Food was delish. Those rolls, yum. Really enjoyed the gnochetti app. Service was impeccable. It wasn’t too loud despite being full. Earns my appreciation & recommendation.
Had Meadowsweet on my list of restaurants to try for a while after hearing good things. What a great dining experience. The food first and foremost was exceptional. Every dish was very good. Our favorite were the duck breast and octopus & chorizo. The only food complaints was that on the salmon we ordered we would’ve like a little more of the coconut curry with it but still a great dish with a lot of flavor. I’m not a big sweets individual but the apple crumble was solid. Highly recommend this restaurant. Karly our server was also great and welcoming. I will definitely come back again.
Fabulous clever food. Fried green tomatoes, octopus, artichokes, cavatelli, are all superb. A couple seasoning tweaks- simple hit of salt/lemon/acid/spice would have leveled up the duck and gnochetti which were still excellent, though both under cooked. Duck served rare is of course ideal but come on not cold in the center. Gnochetti were quite under and hard but a few tweaks to the leftovers and they were yum the next day… but why leftovers!! We were definitely upsold on the amount of food to order and pressured into ordering individual mains as you allegedly have to order everything at once. Ordering 6 starters and then being pushed into 4 mains for 4 people is obviously too much. Really an unnecessary practice at a restaurant of this quality. Otherwise service was quite subtle and nice enough. Too many caveats to merit a proper 5* review. Will happily return on occasion
.. aside from my Gorgeous Girlfriend this was a Nice dining experience due to the atmosphere of the restaurant but more so the quality and taste of food! - “BiG” compliments to the Chef who made these dishes with a lot of flavor and the bartenders who made my drink with CARE🙂 side note: place is a little pricey but a great spot for friends or a date!
A very very happy-making place. It's a bit pricey, but hey, this is Williamsburg, so what d'you expect? That said, ambience is great, the food is impeccably good, the staff is friendly, and there is Good Wine, so yeah, it's all good. Tip - get a whole bunch of small plates and share, it's the best way to check everything out!
I got the orecchiette, my friend got the burrata, and we shared the rolls. The orecchiette was a bit too spicy for my liking - the server should’ve definitely disclosed that it was spicy. The burrata was amazing though. The butter for the rolls was hard and not melted (totally prefer butter to be soft and warm). The service really could have been better - I had to ask for water three times before he brought it. They could definitely use more heaters too - there was only 1 heater for 4 tables and we didn’t feel the warmth at all.
I wanted to like this place more than I did based on the reviews. Perhaps dinner here would have been a better choice. Overall good. My cauliflower dish was okay. Two of us had the duck dish which they both really enjoyed. The other person in our group has the egg and bacon dish, he devoured it! The service felt a little awkward and removed. Not sure we’ll be back.
Great cocktails and pleasant food, nice service, cute restaurant, beautiful presentation. Overall, great experience, but I did expect a bit more from a Michelin Star restaurant. Most of the dishes were far from being extraordinary and a little bland. They should be less afraid of using seasoning.
Delicious shredded duck gnocchi, comfort food with flavor that will knock you out of this world. Salmon was perfectly done, with beautiful light flavors. The chicken was also perfectly cooked, with a yummy pesto base. Both dishes were delicious but the salmon is a better option if you’re looking for something lighter (especially after raiding the starter menu). They were on top of moving between courses and very helpful. The waitress, Sophia, was absolutely lovely.
Came here for Saturday brunch with a group of 6. It was really good food and really good cocktails. The Bloody Mary was excellent and I enjoyed the Venetian Spritz. The crispy chicken sandwich was great and had a Mexican spice flavor. I also really liked the polenta dish that came with mushrooms and poached eggs. I also ordered a side of bacon to supplement the polenta since it didn’t come with any meat.
I like Meadowsweet’s brunch but not all dishes are very memorable. Green tomatoes are delicious. The duck poached eggs and chicken sandwich are ok. Roasted potatoes should be crisper and side salad should have extra dressing. French toast and burger are good. Cocktails are very good but if you order orange juice, the appox 8 oz glass comes half full. This is unacceptable! I really like their dinner menu… Crispy artichokes and the duck are two of my favorite dishes. Sometimes they have venison and it’s very good.
Nice atmosphere, good service. The menu changes regularly. I thought the appetizers were better than the mains. The pasta appetizer was outstanding and one of the most perfectly cooked pasta I've had. The chicken roulade was so moist and juicy. The duck could have been rendered a bit more. Overall delicious and creative dishes.
What is it good for? Brunch with 2-6 people when you want to have a conversation over delicious food in a bright setting. The details: Came for brunch on a Saturday and had an excellent experience. Plenty of room and friendly ambiance. We ordered the donuts and French toast to start, the French toast was delicious and not too sweet. Also had the Duck Pastrami and Bacon and egg sandwich, both of which were very good and filling.
We tried the restaurant week menu and we thought it was a great deal! We ate (and liked) - duck empanadas - burrata - truffle pasta - chicken The service was a bit slow because there was only one waiter when we got there and he did his best to keep everyone happy. Heads up — it felt chilly in some areas of the restaurant.
Came in for brunch. My challenge with the menu is that most of their brunch menu is egg or meat focused. If you can “eat anything” - then this won’t be a problem for you. They offer two toasts that can be made vegetarian, but the mushroom toast option should be the maitake mushroom and not portobello for $24. The autumn squash burrata from the starters list was beautiful and delicious. They do have a pretty good wine list - enjoyed the Vermentino. I am not sure I’d come back for brunch again, but could consider trying dinner. 3.5⭐️
Great ambiance and food. Amazing covid protocols. Both outdoor and indoor dining. Food was 5/5. The wings, fried artichoke and the steak yums! One feedback I have is, I understand it’s a difficult time with Covid and I am doing all I can to support businesses but I do not agree with them automatically adding a Covid recovery charge onto the bill without consent. I know there may be backlash for saying this but charging that without any prior notice or consent seems wrong. Should they have asked/made it voluntary, I would have gladly donate. Service were mainly friendly. However our waiter seems to be very impatient and sort of rushed us through our meal despite us keeping our meal within the time limit and the restaurant was relatively empty.
Food is great, and we appreciated their accomdation to allergies. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and a great selection of drinks. Our dinner was somewhat ruined by an issue at the end. We had a gift card (purchased directly from them, not through a third party of any sort) and they had difficulties finding it in their POS given it was from before they migrated to Toast. Despite us having both the physical gift card from them, and the receipt from them that was emailed to us, it was hard for them to look up. Had a manager with authority been staffed, I think it would have been an easy fix. But the hostess seemed to have very little authority, and no one could resolve the issue. (She was very, very sweet though.) Anyhow, it took over 30 minutes for them to finally fix the issue (after suggesting we pay in full, and they'd call us later in the week to take it and issue a refund...but we wanted to obviously settle and go, not spend more time later in the week). We were coming in from Long Island and missed the next train, forcing my 70+ year old parents to get home an hour later than expected. It was unfortunate as it should have been handled much more expeditiously. And they didn't even think of waiving the $8 that was due on top of the gift card (as a small gesture...or anything for that matter). That plus the actual service isn't very attentive during the meal if you have a question, would like another drink, etc. Great food though ... and our issues are definitely fixable, and many people may have a much better experience.
I was excited to try this restaurant after seeing videos on it, but I can see why they haven’t had a Michelin ⭐️ since ‘21. Wouldn’t recommend. - Incredibly salty food to the point where they had to remake the scallop main because it was inedible, and the temp. on the duck was inconsistent with salty veggies. Tiny complimentary coconut macaroon for dessert. - The octopus appetizer only had 5 1-inch sized octopus and the diced chorizo was overcooked and tough. - Service was lackluster with no water refills until the end of our dinner so basically our waitress never checked up on us. - Food took 40 minutes to prepare and they try to pack as many tables as possible in a tight restaurant so it’s incredibly noisy.
Disappointment experience! I made a reservation for December 24 with the idea of taking my partner to a Restaurant with Michelin star to celebrate Christmas on our first trip to New York (we are from Paris) and the level was very far from what we expected. The reservation was at 20:30 (time we arrived) but when entering the restaurant a waiter tells us that our table was not ready yet and if we could wait at the bar since our table was busy. Curious situation, knowing that we had booked towards weeks and that night there was a Christmas menu. Also during time of waiting nobody proposed nor an appetizer or anything. It was as if no one will notice our presence. Then we went to the table and a really friendly waiter takes us the order. The entrees were good not to be because of the huge hair in my partner's scallops. The waiter quickly apologizes and they change the plate. Then we went to the main ones. A waitress is approaching with the desserts and we tell him that we have not eaten the main ones so this error in the service cost us another 30 minutes of waiting to have our dishes. And then the dessert, without more ... The service was messy The food is too abundant that we could not finish our dishes (they were not refined and nothing near the level of this type of restaurants) The most remarkable detail of this "experience" was that as much I as my partner spent the night and the day after decomposed of the stomach !!! We can only highlight the good will and attention of the waiter who has not charged us wine and coffee. A detail to remember All this for a note of $ 220. I do not recommend this place. Is not at the level which is qualified by Michelin There was no kind of Christmas atmosphere despite the fact that the menu was intended to be like its price. Lack of precision and very banalth flavors. This criticism has no courage to attack but to express my experience as a client of this beautiful restaurant that differs between photos and reality.
The starters were good. But when the mains came the duck has sinew/fat in the breast so it was inedible. The server didn’t ask about our meal during eating or when clearing the plates. So there was no opportunity to fix the issue. We were also celebrating a birthday which we put on the reservation but there was no acknowledgment. Overall good food but disappointing service.
some of the food was good, and some of the food was not very good. The fried artichokes were a good dish. However, the chicken was very poor. I took most of it home and cooked it up with some oil garlic and a little butter. And that tasted a lot better. The way they served it tasted like it was steamed. Not my taste.
We ordered Huevos rancheros, two egg sandwiches, and the hash. The waiter messed up our order and brought three orders of Huevos rancheros. Rather than wait to have the food remade we agreed to just eat what we were served, but I did ask for a side of fries as we were exited to have those with our sandwich. The Huevos rancheros were fine, none of us finished our meals. In the end, they charged us full price for everything despite all the mix ups, just overall a mid experience from a spot we expected to be great.
Me and my wife came here in 16 degree weather from ozone park because the menu online definitely stood out and was something we would of wanted to try. We get there around 1pm for our reservation. We were greeted and seated great. When we specified we wanted to try restaurant week they were very accommodating and brought us the restaurant week menu. To our surprise the menu was named "brunch" and had less items and very different options that their website had cited. We asked about their lunch menu as it was about 1pm. The waiter seemed rather confused and spoke to their manager. Came back and told us we could not have the lunch menu.."their menu's change every week". In front of the restaurant itself posted the same lunch and dinner menus we seen online. Nothing was said about brunch outside or in the screenshot i attached to my post. Flabbergasted we asked to leave as the options were nothing to rave about. Who eats a donut at 1pm for a starter? Cmon now. We were not accommodated what so ever even though clearly there was no indication of brunch only anywhere. Needless to say we will not be traveling back to this place ever again. Thank you meadowsweet for wasting our time during restaurant week :)
