Absolutely outstanding. The food was out of this world, every dish thoughtful, balanced, and memorable. The servers were incredibly knowledgeable and gracious, adding to an ambiance that is cozy, cool, and perfectly intimate. We had a table in the back for nine people and truly felt like we were in someone’s home because of the warmth and level of hospitality. Zaneta took care of us from start to finish and made the entire experience seamless and special. We will be back many more times. Highly recommend.
What a fantastic experience from start to finish! Service was top notch, our server luis was knowledgeable and really took time to help with recommendations. The food was beautiful and I cannot recommend this place enough. Big shoutout to their General Manager John, who took hospitality to the next level and booked us a table at a bar next door so we had somewhere for an after dinner drink. Impeccable night, can't wait to come back.
The food was excellent but we regrettably were not made to feel very welcomed at the restaurant. We were running late, but I don’t think that’s the first thing you want to say to a customer as they enter. We were continuously reminded about how much time we had left although we left well before the time period they allocated to us. Overall the experience wasn’t terrible and while our server was polite, it was strange to feel so policed. More mindfulness from the hostess would be much appreciate, as her behavior is really making it a tough call between whether we visit again or not. Update The restaurant reached out after this visit and invited us back. The experience this time was excellent. Warm service, relaxed atmosphere and consistently great food. I appreciate how thoughtfully they addressed the feedback.
My partner and I love cafe mado and have previously dined here but not in a minute. Place de fetes was truly a 10/10 experience. They are so creative and seasonally aligned. The menu is delicious and exciting. The service is wonderful and kind. If you can, come here, order a lot and enjoy the nice vibes
Everything is more complex and robust than the menu lets on. Engage with the service and you will be rewarded, Morgan was wonderful behind the bar. I enjoyed the sardine toast (on hearty, toasted-but-soft, grainy bread), their house martini (tomato & manzanilla), and the corn ice cream (better than most).
Honestly one of the best restaurants we’ve been to in NYC! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was perfect. They started us off with complimentary bubbles then we had the mussels (which is beyond delicious!), the sardine toast, cabbage salad and entrees were pork chop and a pasta special they had. It was 10/10 and highly recommend for your next special occasion!
Had a really great experience here end-to-end. We came for my boyfriend’s birthday and I really appreciated that they wished him happy birthday on the walk in, had a card at our seat at the bar and poured us glasses of champagne as we sat down. It made the dinner feel very special before we even made it to the food. The food was delicious! Every sauce and broth was so unique and well curated. Each dish got better and better with each bite. I know I’ll be craving another visit very soon. My personal faves from the night were the sardine toast (I called it a sushi toast) and the mafaldine which had notes of almost a seaweed like flavor, but everything was great. My only note was with the asparagus and salt cod dish the flavor of the asparagus drowned out the cod - I appreciated the cod and the ramp more on their own or with the sourdough. Definitely get the sourdough to sop up any and all of the leftover sauces. They’re that good
We had such a lovely dinner at the restaurant! We were greeted with sparkling wine and a surprise birthday card at the beginning when we entered this cute and intimate place. The waitress was kind, pretty, and attentive, making us feel like friends. The food and wine selections are creative and unique. It was overall a special evening for us. Thank you so much!!
Wow. Where to begin…… Have stopped in for charcuterie, cheese, and wine. This is a great spot for a pre or post dinner treat and wine. However, this is also an amazing place to enjoy a lovely dinner-with a romantic atmosphere and extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff, selecting wine to pare with each dish is easy! I enjoy sitting in the front near the kitchen. It’s a great spot to enjoy conversation while watching the chefs create delicious magic. However, for a more romantic and intimate setting, there is a back dining area. The staff couldn’t be more friendly. You aren’t assigned one server as most restaurants, this restaurant has all Employees working to insure your evening is perfect. The chefs work non stop to deliver beautiful and delicious plates. No rush here, I spent over 2 hours on my last visit. Menu does change, which is great for new options-but staples stay such as the delicious house made bread. The chefs do an incredible job -I am Not a fan of sardines. However, I ate every bite of their sardine toast. Absolutely delicious. They really know how to use slices and blend flavors to create exciting dishes. One of my favorite places in this area of NY.
A very delicious small bites meal. Came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday — for a large format group they customize a menu and serve family style! Food was great (small and pricey). Notably their seafood was excellent - great to see the two mains on the family style meal both being fish and also featuring seafood starters too. The wine selection was great too, lot of good surprised. Particularly enjoyed their Spanish Grenache and albarino and to finish, a white sherry that was super super super dry. Overall awesome place for dinner, excellent for celebrations. Service was good too. There is only one bathroom so the lines were pretty long. Would definitely come back for another regular meal.
Delicious sourdough, balanced cocktails, and two wonderful dishes, a salad and the rice dish. Everything tasted absolutely divine. Seated at the bar, our server was extremely knowledgeable and articulate with his descriptions of our meals and timely with his interjections. My only critique is the interior design! The lighting was great but the art, particularly the gallery wall of framed prints, showcases some rather vague and uncompelling pieces. It’s like shooting your self in the foot! Does not feel like it speaks to the menu at all. Would love to see maybe works from local Brooklyn artists or somethings bit more rooted in the feeling of the food. Easy change for sure so not weighting it too heavily at all.
The sardines toast was definitely the highlight for me! But the maitako mushroom with black garlic sauce & corn with eel bonito were delightful. Super cute place inside, very cozy and nice bar seating area. All the staffs were super helpful, attentive and sweet. Perfect date spot, light not too dim, portions are on the smaller end and pretty vibey.
Dinner so loud! I guess I'm getting to the point where I cannot dine comfortably in a super noisy restaurant. The rest of the younger guests seemed very happy. I feel very well versed on the life details of the people that we're sitting adjacent to us. The shrieking valley girls were too much though! Our waitress was amazing. You really got the sense that you were being taken care of even in the busy restaurant on a Saturday night. Food was good but not as good as last time we were here . Hits were the bread, the mussels, the gem lettuce salad, maiitake mushrooms, caraflex cabbage with nduja, the pork chop ( although having it come cut up made me feel like I was 5), and the morels 😋😋😋. The pasta with peas was bland (we ate it with the morels) and the same with the hiramasa crudo (I asked for citrus from the bar to give it some acidity). Next time, we'll have to come much earlier and beat the dinn
Over salted over seasoned over priced and OVER RATED. All these 'overs' and its still not enough. I have no reason to recommend this place to anybody i know who enjoys good food. It is entirely mediocre. Any flavour that is highlighted in a dish is way over done. Be it salt, acid, alium, etc. the best thing we had of our 8 dishes was the bread and blue cheese (both not even made by the restaurant) The flavours are so flat. This is so depressing. This is the last time i go to any of these internet hyped restaurants. Always such a scam. If you do come, the squid is pretty good. Mussels, beans, and ESPECIALLY the maitake mushrooms are a no. The mushrooms are just deep fried with no flavour except the black garlic sauce (nothing special)
I had high hopes for Place des Fêtes but I was pretty disappointed, especially for all the high reviews it received. For the price they’re charging here, you either have to increase the portion size or really knock the customers socks off. Some of the dishes were comically small, I get this is tapas but come on. My favorite dish was the sardine toast but that’s the only thing that was good. The pasta tasted like something you’d make at home and the cod was lukewarm, not appealing at all. The freshness of the ingredients was spot on, you can definitely taste the quality but it’s the actual delivery that flopped. I do have to shout out to our waiter who was great and offered some solid suggestions. There are some great restaurants in Brooklyn, especially in this area but PDF is not one of them.
Expensive food that was not that good. Like… one appetizer are just five thin slices of mortadella (fancy baloney) for $15, no bread, no nothing with it… what?! Kind of a rip off. Also, they changed our cutlery and plates like four times. I appreciate it, but it’s totally unnecessary. Did I really need a clean fork for that mortadella to appreciate it?
Second time “dining” here. Truly offended that anyone would actually consider this dinner. I would be willing to overlook the small portions if the service wasn’t so potently awful. It’s as if we were doing them a disservice by simply walking in. Sardine toast is good, not great. Maitakes were delectable but with four to a table would it kill ya to give us each a shroom? The preemptive clearing of plates when there were very obviously still big bites to be had was so predictable and made me cringe. Would be nice to crack a smile at the folks who support your business and over priced rent. Don’t bother, you’ll walk out hungry and sad.
Went with a friend who had a negative experience previously but decided to give it another go. The name Place des Fêtes implies casual and easy dining and drinking but I found this place anything but. The cocktail was delicious and the wine my friend ordered was definitely interesting. When asked what we were ordering for food, we told the server we were just snacking and she was visibly disappointed we weren’t ordering a full meal. The food was very good if expensive but we were made to feel like we were taking up space at the bar by not ordering more food (we did order more drinks). After just over an hour of sitting there eating and drinking, the server came over telling us they had another reservation at 8:45, which I’m not buying. I could tell she was annoyed we hadn’t gotten dessert and just wanted to turn the table over to make more money. I tipped her the standard 20% anyhow but to be honest I kind of regret (I mean she kicked us out). The food was solid and the drink was REALLY good but the place is just inhospitable. It feels like they just want to turn tables over as fast as possible. Sorely disappointed with the service and the general tension in the atmosphere. We went down the street to Bar Laika which had a much better vibe.
